Lea has a secret.
He’s supporting his small, strange family as best as he can. All he wants is for his two teens to have a normal life for the few years before they grow up and leave the nest.
The problem is, the teens are saviors, warriors of light, and deep down, Lea is… anything but. He knows if they found out how he pays the bills, they’d be disappointed in him. But what choice does he have? He knew he wasn’t cut out for all that hero stuff anyway.
Isa has a burden.
Every night he dreams he’s an empty husk again— rotting from the inside out, with a heart that isn’t his stuffed inside and spreading darkness like an infection. Every morning he wakes, and asks his partner if his eyes have reverted to a sickly yellow. Human again after ten years of emptiness, he must learn how to be a person again.
The only people he can trust are his odd new family; his old partner, and the two teenaged heroes he once tormented. The weight of his abhorrent behavior holds him down.
He’ll never be able to atone.
He’s willing to die trying.
Violet has a ghost.
Her life is idyllic: she’s the owner of a lovely flower shop, and uses magic to tend to her plants. She’s beloved among the people of her hometown, who know her by her kindness, cheery demeanor, and beautiful voice, as she loves to sing while she works.
Few dare to whisper about the empty mansion that sits at the opposite side of the city, and fewer still dare to mention the child that once lived there… and the now-missing boys that would visit it every day.
Nobody knows that very recently, and quite abruptly, the mansion became occupied.
Violet’s ghosts are back to haunt her… and they aren’t leaving without a fight.
