Chapter Text
Klara was a year old when the news reached Liam. He had just put the infant down for a nap when his phone started ringing. Once he saw the name of his friend he answered, expecting good news but when an unknown voice started talking he froze. He barely heard past the words “severe wounds” and hospital” as he sat there unmoving. Sputtering out a few words that he would be there shortly the call ended and he was hit with a wave of grief and shock. Getting to his feet slowly, he went through the motions of packing a diaper bag when he was hit with a feeling of fear and sadness. Klara was barely a year old and she might have her parents taken away, and with no other family known, he didn’t know what would happen to her. He stood frozen at the doorway of the baby’s room, looking at the small body within the crib with mixed feelings. He decided there and then that he wouldn’t let her end up in the hands of the Foster system.
The drive to the hospital was deafening. With no music playing he only had his thoughts, and the quiet sounds of Klara cooing in the backseat. He was glad the baby wasn’t crying, though he knew she could feel the tension. Once he got to the hospital he was quick to grab the baby’s car seat and bag before rushing in.
“I-I was called- my friend- friends are here?! Wh-what room?” Liam’s voice cracked showing how despaired he was. The front desk clerk asked for the name and once he gave that he was led through the doors towards the room. His grip tightened on the handle of the baby carrier. Turning it to face backwards so Klara wouldn’t see her parents like this. Through the glass on the door he could see the amount of tubes and machines surrounding his friends and let out a soft sob as he opened the door. Setting the baby carrier on the ground softly, facing the wall, and after giving her a toy he quietly approached the bed.
Seeing them up close made his stomach churn but he bit it down and gently took Zehra and Emil’s hand, rubbing soothing circles on them. He felt Emil’s hand tighten faintly and when he looked up, he was met with brown eyes. He smiled faintly, answering the question in her eyes with a silent motion to the carrier, where the baby was still happily babbling softly.
His eyes widened as her hand slowly reached for the oxygen mask around her face and took it off, the motion seeming to sap the little energy from her body.
“Ta-Take care of our little girl- please…” the broken words left Liam frozen in his spot, his eyes desperately searching the betas eyes and finding nothing but trust. He slowly nodded, and watched as she physically relaxed, her eyes closing as the heart monitor started blaring. He was immediately pushed away from the beds as doctors and nurses rushed in to try and resuscitate them. He grabbed Klara’s carrier and saw her eyes were brimmed with tears, his instincts immediately flared and he stepped outside of the room to try and calm her before she started crying. It felt like hours, but as a doctor stepped out he could already tell that it was bad news.
“I’m sorry, they didn’t make it, time of death 3:00pm July 18th. I’m sorry for your loss.” The doctor said solemnly, as Liam felt his world shatter. Faintly he could hear Klara start crying, sensing something was wrong but he couldn’t make himself move. His closest friends, the ones who got him through so much, were gone. He couldn’t believe it. He could hear the doctor still talking though it sounded like it was muffled and when the doctor turned to walk away, Liam fell against the wall, to brace himself as he tried to process the words.
He looked through the glass of the door, watching as nurses disconnected machine after machine with a sense of loss. The broken cries of Klara is what finally snapped him free and he was quick to gently release the buckles and take her into his arms. Feeling the tiny baby against him he let a few tears slip free as he held her tightly, keeping true to his words, and promised that he would protect Klara no matter what.

When the news came that Klara got a job for Kingdom, Liam was over the moon. He threw a party to celebrate, inviting a few of his friends from Kingdom so she could get to know who she would be working with. He was a little nervous, seeing as she had yet to present but it was quickly overtaken by a sense of pride. He knew that Klara would do great things with the company, and was excited to watch his little girl grow and build great things.
Her first day in the company was mostly just her settling in and meeting her higher ups and coworkers. Her coworkers barely acknowledged her, instead just offering silent glares as she tried to introduce herself. After a few hours she retreated to the break room, and was caught off guard when she spotted someone else was already there. The other women glanced back, catching the scent of Klara, and regarded her with a sense of curiosity.
“You must be Liam’s kid.” The statement caught Klara off guard and it took her a moment before she nodded.
“O-oh uh- yep! My name's Klara-“ she said quickly, offering her hand for a shake. Sabine took it and shook once before letting go, hands wrapping around the mug once again.
“My name's Sabine, a good friend of Liam’s, I’ve heard quite a bit about you. I expect only good things from you.” Klara blanked before nodding faintly, watching as the woman walked out. Shaking herself free from her thoughts she started making a cup humming softly. Once back at her desk she threw herself back into her work, excited to see where kingdom would take her.

Klara had been feeling off all day, but just passed it off to a very late night in the workshop. She was sweating even though the workshop is always kept at a cool temperature. Klara could feel the eyes of every Alpha on her as she worked and it was making her hands shake more than it should. She debated calling Liam or Sabine to hide out in their office, knowing that they’d help but she thought against it. Both of them had a huge workload and she didn’t want to bother them for something as stupid as being uncomfortable around the other Alphas. She was starting to regret not taking the offer to stay home Liam gave her, but she couldn’t take it back. She shied away as a hand grazed her back, and turned to see one of the Alpha males, Lucius, staring at her with a hungry expression. She suppressed the whimper that was growing in her throat and instead turned back to work, cowering lower into her cubicle hoping that it would protect her.
She jerked away when she felt another hand graze her side, refusing to meet the eyes of the alpha and just praying that he’d leave her alone with no luck. Deciding she had to get out, she pushed her chair back, only to be immediately cornered by Lucius, who had moved closer without her realizing.
“Where’s a pretty thing like you going? With so many alphas around? Let me take you somewhere safer.” His tone dropped into a seductive tone and as he leaned closer, she leaned further away, her back against her desk.
“J-Just going to get a drink-“ he barely got out before he leaned closer, eyes glinting with excitement, at her scent.
“Come with me and I can show you the best drink.” He said with a smirk, wrapping an arm around her waist tightly and pulling her against him so she couldn’t escape. He just laughed as she whimpered softly and tried to pull away, her eyes scanning for someone to help. Unfortunately none of them would, their eyes full of the same lust Lucius had, and it scared her further. She couldn’t do much as she was led out of the workshop and towards the break room, though when they passed it she realized what was about to happen. Her struggles proved futile as they approached a closet, and before she could react was shoved against the furthest wall, her body pressed close to the Alphas as he kissed her.
Klara didn't know how long she was in that closet for, just enough for the sweat and fluids to dry. She didn’t trust her legs, and without her phone couldn’t call for help. When she heard calls of her name, and recognized the voice she weakly kicked the door, praying it was enough for Liam to find her. Before she lifted her leg to try again the door swung open and blinded her for a moment, though the gasp of shock made her flinch away. The second she felt hands on her she whimpered and tried to shy away, her breathing picking up thinking the alpha was back again.
“Klara, kiddo, it’s me, please take a breath..” Liam’s worried tone cut through her panic and her eyes snapped open to see him crouched at her feet. His eyes were filled with worry and relief and she felt tears forming on her own as she reached for her father. He gently gathered her in his arms, whispering softly as she calmed down. After helping pull her clothes back on he gathered her in his arms once again and carried her out of the company. She could catch bits and prides of a conversation as Liam brought her to the car and got in the driver's seat to take them to the hospital .
“I found her… it’s not pretty…… heading to a hospital.” She whimpered softly to catch his attention as he drove, and took the offered hand as he reached back.
“Your okay kiddo, I got you…” He whispered softly, meeting her eyes in the rear view mirror. He was quick to pull into the first parking lot he saw and immediately took her in. After explaining what happened she was taken back to run some tests, and a nurse handed her a pill to keep her from getting pregnant. The nurses were methodical with their examinations, and after abit she was cleared. Liam met her in the waiting room and wrapped her in another hug as Klara started crying.
“I-I don’t want to go back-“ Klara whispered through tears, gripping his shirt tighter in fear. Liam nuzzled her hair softly letting her calm down on her own before stepping back.
“You don’t have to go back until you're ready kiddo, and we can look into alternatives for the situation. I promise.” Liam said softly before gently leading her out to the car.
The ride home was silent save for the quiet sniffles from where Klara was curled up. The second they got home, Klara retreated to her room, curling up under covers and staring off into space. She could hear Liam talking and yelling, though his tone was getting more and more frustrated. She burrowed further into her bedding the events of the day fully settled in. She looked down at her arms, where the faint bruises of the alpha's grip were visible and whimpered. She could still feel the phantom grip on her, grabbing her arms, legs and touching her stomach and lower. Shooting up from her bed she stumbled into the bathroom and turned on the shower to scalding, before starting to scrub roughly at her body, trying to erase the phantom feelings of the Alpha’s touch. She didn’t know when she started to cry, or when her breathing picked up, she only knew that she had to get it off.
The water was cold when she finally snapped back to her body, her skin rubbed raw and tingling. With a detachment from her own body she turned off the water and grabbed the towel. Stepping into her room she changed into the baggiest pjs she had and curled up under her covers yet again her eyelids heavy with sleep.
A few months later she returned back to Kingdom, she had started a heavy dose of Suppressants that were supposed to hide her scent, and Heat blockers that would help her pass as a Beta. The suppressants and Heat blockers were taking a heavy toll on her body, including heavy weight loss, and very irregular heats. They also gave her heavy nausea some days, and weakness in the muscles. Sabine and Liam were not happy about how heavy the dose was but it was the only way she felt safe enough to go back. She hid herself in more baggy clothes as well, knowing Liam would be worried about how skinny she had gotten since the attack, and hoped the baggy clothes would keep the other alphas away.
Liam and Sabine checked in with texts and dropped off food and water, and made sure she was still okay. Within the next months she was promoted to Lead R&D of her department and she slowly gained some of her confidence back. That all changed once she realized that Kingdoms was truly using her inventions for and as soon as Liam
offered she joined his little band of fighters, not knowing how much this would save her life.
