Chapter 1

The Going Merry rocked gently under the afternoon sun, warm light spilling across the deck. Luffy had stretched out for a nap after lunch, arms folded behind his head, hat tipped low to block the brightness. The steady rhythm of the waves, the creaking of wood, and the distant caws of seagulls lulled him into a deep, dreamless sleep.

He woke slowly, blinking against the warmth on his face.

Something felt… different.

Heavy. Warm. Nice.

Luffy lifted his hat just enough to peek, and he froze.

Robin was there—curled against him, her head resting on his shoulder. One arm draped loosely over his chest. Their legs had managed to tangle together at some point, like the ship had gently nudged them closer and closer until they fit naturally into each other’s warmth.

Her breath was soft, brushing against his neck. Every exhale sent a tiny shiver down his spine.

Luffy didn’t move. Didn’t even think of moving.

Robin, half drifting between sleep and waking, shifted a little, nuzzling lightly into him with a sleepy sigh. Her voice came out in a whisper, barely more than a warm breeze against his ear.

“It’s alright… I’m here.”

Luffy’s cheeks went warm.

She probably thought he was still asleep.

Another whisper. Softer. Almost like a dream speaking through her.

“You’re safe… and I’m right beside you.”

Her fingers absentmindedly traced small circles against his shirt—delicate, comforting, like she was reassuring herself as much as him. Luffy felt everything inside his chest flutter in a way he couldn’t name. His heartbeat steadied, slow and peaceful, matching hers without him trying.

He let his eyes fall closed again, sinking deeper into the warmth of her presence. The world felt quieter with her so close. Calmer. Kinder.

Robin breathed another sleepy whisper, barely audible:

“Rest, Luffy…”

He smiled—small, genuine, the kind he rarely showed when awake and loud.

“Okay,” he murmured back, voice low so only she would hear.

The ship continued its gentle sway, sun wrapping them both like a blanket. Robin drifted back into her soft dozing, curled into him without hesitation. Luffy stayed awake just long enough to enjoy the feeling of her leaning on him—trusting him—before sleep pulled him back under.

Two heartbeats. One peaceful afternoon. The ocean carries them forward.

And the Going Merry sailed on, its captain and archaeologist tangled together in the warm silence of shared dreams.

Chapter 2

The Going Merry swayed lazily beneath the afternoon sun, a warm breeze brushing over the deck. Luffy lay stretched out on the wooden planks, hat tipped over his eyes, already deep into his post-lunch nap. The ship rocked gently, rocking him with it.

At some point during the peaceful quiet, Robin had settled beside him—then slowly, gradually, naturally—on him. Her head rested against his shoulder, her arm draped across his chest, their legs comfortably tangled as if they were meant to fall asleep just like this.

Luffy woke first. Barely.

He blinked slowly, vision adjusting. Warmth. Weight. Soft breath against his neck.

Robin.

She murmured something unintentionally sweet against his ear—words half-dreamed, half-whispered.

“It’s alright… I’m here.”

Luffy’s face went hot, but he didn’t move. Didn’t want to. Her fingers traced lazy, half-conscious shapes on his shirt, calming him in a way he didn’t even understand.

He settled deeper into her, letting his eyes drift shut again.

And that would’ve been the perfect moment.

If Sanji hadn’t walked onto the deck.

The cook emerged with a tray in one hand, a gentle smile already forming.

“Robin-chwaaaan~ I made some afternoon trea—”

He froze.

His eye twitched.

His jaw dropped.

There she was—his beloved Robin—sleeping soundly, wrapped around Luffy of all people, their legs intertwined like ivy around a tree.

Sanji inhaled sharply, ready to unleash an earth-shattering shriek of heartbreak and betrayal—

—but then Luffy opened one eye.

Just one.

A quiet, warning glare.

It wasn’t even angry. Just… “Don’t.”

Sanji felt the sound die in his throat instantly. Instantly.

His hands trembled around the tray. His cigarette dropped out of his mouth. A strangled little “hkk—” escaped, the only sound left in him.

He slowly—very slowly—placed the tray on the floor and backed away like a man defusing a bomb.

“Carry on…” he whispered in defeat, tears pooling but held in place by the sheer terror of that captain’s glare.

Once he disappeared below deck, Luffy let out a tiny huff.

He hadn’t meant to scare the cook.

But Robin shifted closer, her hand curling lightly at his side, and everything inside him softened again.

He tugged her gently, instinctively, until she fit perfectly against him. She murmured a soft sound of contentment, sinking right back into sleep.

Luffy smiled, small and sleepy.

“Mine…” he mumbled under his breath, not fully awake, not fully aware.

Then he drifted off again—holding her just a little tighter—while the Going Merry continued drifting peacefully across the sea, carrying the two of them wrapped in quiet warmth and soft, shared dreams.

Chapter 3

Below deck, Sanji stumbled into the kitchen like a man whose entire soul had been shattered, rebuilt, and shattered again.

He collapsed onto his knees—dramatically, as only Sanji could—hands raised toward the ceiling.

“WHYYYYYYY—?!”

The cry echoed through the entire galley.

Then came the waterfalls.

Actual waterfalls.

A torrent of tears blasted out of Sanji’s eyes, spraying across the floor in wild arcs, nearly knocking over a stack of plates.

Usopp, who had been tinkering with something at the table, jumped so hard he nearly swallowed a screw.

“GYAAAH—?! Sanji! What did Luffy do this time?! Did he eat all the food again?!”

Sanji slammed both palms onto the floor, head bowed like a tragic poet.

“It’s worse… so much worse…!”

Franky peeked from behind his sunglasses. “Worse than stealing the leftover fried cola-chicken?”

Brook leaned in curiously. “Yohoho? Did he break something? Oh no—did he break you?”

Chopper rushed to Sanji’s side, ears perked. “Sanji! Are you dying?! You’re crying so much!”

“I WISH I WERE DEAD…!” Sanji wailed, tears intensifying into a full-on flooding event.

Nami, sipping tangerine juice, didn’t even look up. “Oh boy. It’s a Robin thing, isn’t it?”

Sanji let out a sound like a dying violin.

“YES, NAMI-SWAAAN, IT’S A ROBIN THING!”

Usopp exchanged a glance with Franky.

“That’s serious.”

Robin, meanwhile, was peacefully asleep upstairs on Luffy’s chest, unaware she had caused a category-five emotional hurricane.

Sanji clutched the air as if embracing a ghost.

“She was… she was… lying there… cuddled up with Luffy! Their legs were—were— intertwined!”

A unified gasp filled the kitchen.

“Like a pretzel?!” Chopper squeaked.

“Like a romance novel illustration?!” Brook added.

“Like… SUPER intertwined?” Franky flexed for emphasis.

Sanji nodded, sobbing into the table. “It was BEAUTIFUL! HORRIFYING! BEAUTIFULLY HORRIFYING!”

Nami set her drink down. “Okay, I need to see this.”

Usopp, curiosity activated: “Me too.”

Franky: “SUPER me too.”

Chopper: “I hope Luffy’s not hurting her!”

Brook: “I hope they’re not hurting Sanji’s soul any further—yohoho!”

A stampede of footsteps followed as the entire crew crowded around the small round kitchen window that overlooked the deck.

They peeked out—

And froze.

Robin was still curled into Luffy. His arms were now completely wrapped around her, hat tilted just enough to hide half his face. Her fingers rested lightly on his chest. Their breathing rose and fell in perfect sync.

Chopper whispered, “That’s adorable…”

Usopp nodded slowly. “They look like… like a couple married for decades…”

Franky put a hand over his heart. “This is… SUPER wholesome.”

Brook sniffled. “I’m crying tears though I have no eyes…”

Nami smirked. “Told you it was a Robin thing.”

Behind them, Sanji fell to the floor again, sobbing loudly.

“I CAN’T COMPETE WITH THAT KIND OF NATURAL INTIMACY—!!”

His tears blasted the kitchen ceiling like a fountain.

The crew collectively sweatdropped.

But none of them—not one—could look away from the window.

Because for all the chaos below deck, the sight outside was calm, gentle, and warm.

Their captain and archaeologist slept on peacefully, completely unaware of the spectacle they were causing.

And somehow…

The Merry felt a little cozier that afternoon.

Chapter 4

The soft breeze brushed across the Merry’s deck as Zoro pushed open the door from the men’s quarters, a jug of sake in hand. He took a long swig, stretching lazily as he stepped into the sunlight.

He wasn’t looking for anything in particular—just a quiet spot to drink.

Then he noticed it.

Right in the middle of the deck.

Luffy and Robin, tangled together like they’d fallen asleep in mid-hug. Luffy’s arms wrapped around her, Robin’s head nestled under his chin, legs intertwined like they fit there naturally. Both breathing slow. Peaceful.

Zoro blinked once.

Then twice.

He took another slow sip of sake.

“…Huh.”

Nothing more. No dramatic reaction. Just mild surprise, acceptance, and then—

His eyes shifted toward the kitchen window.

And what he saw made his face fall immediately.

Half the crew were pressed against the glass like kids spying on neighbors.

Usopp’s nose squashed against the window.

Brook elongated to see better.

Chopper perched on Franky’s head.

Nami leaning her elbows casually on the sill.

Sanji sobbing dramatically in the back, clutching his chest like he’d been stabbed by cupid.

Zoro sighed.

The deepest, longest, most tired sigh imaginable.

He took another drink for strength.

Then he walked toward the kitchen door, slid it open—and was promptly greeted by Sanji’s full-volume wailing.

“ROBIN-CHWAAAAN! WHY HIM?! WHY THE CAPTAIN?! WHY LEGS INTERTWINED—?!”

“Oi.”

Zoro’s voice cut through the chaos.

Everyone froze.

Zoro pointed lazily with his jug at the window.

“Stop crowding around like a bunch of creeps.”

Usopp flinched. “W-We’re just observing—”

“It’s research!” Franky added weakly.

“We’re enjoying the sweetness,” Brook offered.

Zoro glared at all of them. “You’re gawking. Loudly.”

Sanji sniffed, wiping his nose with a heartbroken flourish.

“But Zoro! Robin is— ROBIN is—”

Zoro deadpanned. “Sleeping. Calmly. Without all your noise.”

Nami raised an eyebrow. “So what, you’re defending them now?”

Zoro shrugged. “I’m defending my peace. And my ears.”

He grabbed Usopp by the back of the shirt, pulled him away from the window.

Then Chopper.

Then Brook.

Then Franky, who still whispered “Super wholesome…” under his breath.

Sanji tried to run back to the window before Zoro snagged him by the collar like a misbehaving cat.

“No spying,” Zoro said, shoving him toward the center of the kitchen. “It’s their private thing. Let ‘em sleep.”

Sanji’s eyes sparkled with heartbreak. “But Robin—she was—she was—wrapped around LUFFY!”

Zoro took a swig.

“That’s between them. Not us.”

The room fell quiet.

Even Nami nodded a little. “He’s right.”

Chopper fidgeted, ears down. “Okay… we’ll give them space.”

Usopp sighed. “Alright, fine.”

Franky added, “But it was adorable.”

Brook strummed a gentle chord. “True, true.”

Zoro turned, ready to head back outside and guard the deck from further nose-pressing surveillance—

Then paused.

One last glance through the window.

Luffy was asleep again. Robin nestled even closer. Luffy’s hold on her had tightened slightly, protective and instinctive.

Zoro snorted softly to himself.

“Idiots,” he muttered—but there was the faintest hint of a smile before he stepped back onto the deck.

He took a seat nearby, sake in hand, settling into his usual cross-legged pose.

Nobody would bother them on his watch.

Even if he’d never admit he cared.

Chapter 5

A gentle shift in the breeze brushed across the deck. The sun had dipped lower, washing everything in a warm gold. Luffy slept soundly, arms securely wrapped around Robin like she was the world’s comfiest pillow.

Slowly… very slowly… Robin began to wake.

Her eyelashes fluttered.

A soft exhale escaped her.

She wasn’t fully conscious yet—warmth filled her senses, gentle and steady. Something firm and familiar was beneath her cheek. Something radiating heat like a small sun.

Without thinking, she instinctively snuggled closer, seeking more of that warmth.

Her fingers curled into soft fabric. Her legs shifted and brushed against something solid.

A heartbeat drummed calmly beneath her ear.

Wait.

A heartbeat?

Robin’s eyes opened fully.

She blinked.

Looked down.

Saw the red vest.

Saw the scar.

Saw the arm wrapped possessively around her waist.

And then—

Her entire face went red.

Oh no.

Oh no no no.

She was practically lying on top of him, tucked under his chin, legs tangled with his. And Luffy—still deep in sleep—held her like she was something precious.

Robin tried to gently lift her head.

Luffy hummed in his sleep and tugged her closer.

Her blush deepened, spreading all the way to her ears.

“L-Luffy…” she whispered softly, mortified and charmed at the same time.

She attempted to shift her leg free.

His legs instinctively curled tighter around hers.

She tried to gently push his arm away.

His other arm joined the first.

Now she was hugged from both sides.

Robin attempted to slide upward.

Luffy nuzzled into her hair with a sleepy smile and whispered something incoherent… but unmistakably fond.

Robin’s heart did an embarrassing little flip.

She cleared her throat quietly. “This is… quite a situation.”

Another attempt—she tried to roll back a bit.

Luffy’s grip tightened again, this time with surprising strength, pulling her flush against him.

Robin froze.

Heat exploded across her cheeks.

Her dignity tried to rally.

Her brain screamed run.

There was only one option left.

She closed her eyes.

“…Cien Fleur: Escape.”

Hands sprouted silently beneath her, gently lifting her torso, nudging her legs free, prying her out of Luffy’s iron cuddle-lock like a delicately extracted treasure.

One by one, she slipped out of his arms, landing softly on her feet beside him.

Luffy’s arms closed around empty air.

He murmured something sleepily and hugged the deck instead.

Robin stood there, flustered beyond belief, smoothing her hair and taking a deep breath.

Then—with all the composure of an embarrassed goddess—she turned and gracefully walked toward the girls’ quarters.

As soon as the door closed behind her—

A muffled, high-pitched squeak escaped her.

The kind of squeak no one must ever know she made.

She leaned against the door, face glowing crimson.

“…Oh my.”

Back on deck, Luffy continued sleeping peacefully, completely unaware of the chaos he’d just caused.

And Robin tried—unsuccessfully—to calm her wildly beating heart.

Chapter 6

Robin stood with her back against the door, both hands pressed over her burning cheeks. She had regained some composure—barely—when the door opened again.

Nami stepped inside.

She didn’t knock.

She didn’t say hello.

She just looked at Robin’s face… at the frantic blush… at the stiff posture…

…and grinned like a shark.

“Well well well,” Nami said, closing the door behind her. “Look at you.”

Robin straightened, clearing her throat. “Good evening, Nami.”

“It sure looks like a good evening,” Nami teased, wiggling her eyebrows. “Care to explain why you came in here looking like your soul left your body?”

Robin exhaled slowly. “It’s… nothing.”

“Uh-huh,” Nami said. “So the nothing involves you sprinting across the deck using a Devil Fruit escape technique?”

Robin’s blush deepened. “He—Luffy—he was holding on too tightly.”

“Luffy?” Nami gasped with a grin. “So it was Luffy? You two looked fused together from the window!”

Robin covered her face. “You were watching too?!”

“Oh, everyone was watching. Zoro had to drag us away.”

Robin groaned softly. “This is mortifying…”

Nami sat beside her on the bed. “Okay okay, I’ll stop teasing. Just… how did it happen?”

Robin hesitated, then finally whispered:

“I… fell asleep next to him. And then we were just… close. Very close.”

Nami’s smile softened. “And you didn’t mind?”

Robin bit her lip. “I… didn’t dislike it.”

Nami smirked. “Uh-huh. Didn’t dislike it.”

Robin hid her face again.

But before Nami could tease her more—

There was a thump against the door.

And a sleepy groan.

Both women froze.

Nami whispered, “Please tell me that’s not—”

Robin opened the door a crack—

And found Luffy.

Hat crooked, hair messy, eyes half-open, still in a dreamy haze.

He blinked up at Robin, sniffed the air like a puppy sensing warmth—

“…Robin…” he murmured.

Nami’s jaw dropped. He followed her scent.

Luffy blinked again, eyes barely focused.

“…you left…”

He stepped forward, wobbling, bumping into her gently like a sleepwalking child.

Robin’s breath caught. “L-Luffy? Why are you—?”

But he didn’t answer.

Too sleepy.

Too warm.

Too Luffy.

He just wrapped his arms around her waist like it was the most natural thing in the world and buried his face into her shoulder.

Nami silently mouthed: Oh. My. God.

Robin froze like a statue.

“Luffy—wait—” she stammered softly, “this is—y-your room is upstairs—”

He didn’t care.

Didn’t hear.

He simply nudged forward until both of them stumbled onto her bed.

Robin fell back with a soft oof, and Luffy immediately curled behind her like he’d done it a thousand times.

He wrapped an arm around her waist.

Tangled one leg over hers.

Nuzzled his forehead between her shoulder blades.

And fell asleep instantly.

Robin’s entire soul caught fire.

“L-Luffy… this is—this is improper—”

But he didn’t move. Or wake. Or loosen his grip.

Nami, silently backing toward the door, whispered with an evil grin:

“Looks like you’re stuck there for a while.”

“Nami,” Robin hissed softly, flustered. “Please—help—”

“Nope,” Nami whispered cheerfully, slipping out and closing the door behind her. “Good luck~”

The room fell quiet again.

Except for Luffy’s soft breathing against Robin’s back.

Robin swallowed thickly, heart racing, face bright red.

“…Oh dear,” she whispered to herself.

But slowly—

hesitantly—

her hand drifted down and rested over Luffy’s.

He murmured happily in his sleep, squeezing her waist gently.

Robin closed her eyes.

And despite the flustered storm inside her…

She didn’t try to escape this time.

Chapter 7

Sanji was still on the galley floor, producing enough tears to mop the entire ship twice over.

“ROBIN–CHWAAAAN… LUUUFFYYYY… WHYYYYYY–?!”

Usopp had moved on from shock to existential crisis.

“What does this mean? What does this mean?! Does Luffy even know what cuddling is?”

Franky sat cross-legged, stroking his chin.

“This is developing into a SUPER complicated situation.”

Brook plucked mournful notes on his violin.

“Ahh… the tragedy of unrequited love… though I have no heart to break–yohoho…”

Chopper paced in circles.

“What if Luffy accidentally crushes her?! What if Robin’s uncomfortable?! What if they’re—WHAT IF—?!”

In the background, Sanji sobbed into the floorboards.

“IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MEEEEEEE—!!”

The entire room vibrated from the emotional chaos.

Then the door slid open.

Nami stepped in.

Hands on hips.

A look of someone who had witnessed something so spicy she could charge admission.

The crew all turned toward her like hungry gossip wolves.

Nami cleared her throat dramatically.

“Well… if you guys are done crying—there’s an update.”

Sanji instantly rocketed to her feet, grabbing her by the shoulders.

“ROBIN—IS SHE—IS SHE OKAY?! DID SHE—DID THEY—DID ANYTHING—”

Nami peeled him off.

“She’s fine. In fact…”

She smirked.

“They’re sleeping together again.”

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA—!!!”

Sanji fainted on the spot, foaming at the mouth like a man struck by lightning.

Usopp fell backward over a chair.

“WHAT?! AGAIN?! HOW?! WHEN?!”

Chopper covered his face with both hooves.

“T-They’re napping together AGAIN?!”

Franky whistled.

“That’s SUPER fast progress.”

Brook twirled dramatically.

“I must not intrude, but I would love to take a peek—YOHOHO—just joking… mostly.”

Nami held up one finger.

“It happened like this. Robin was in the girls’ room trying to calm down—still blushing—and then Luffy wakes up, can’t find her, and sleepily sniffs her out.”

Usopp: “HE TRACKED HER BY SMELL?! LIKE A DOG?!”

Nami nodded.

“Oh yeah. Walks straight to her room. I slip out. He doesn’t even say anything—just walks in, wraps his arms around her, and falls asleep AGAIN. On her bed. Spooning her.”

Franky wiped an imaginary tear.

“That’s… SUPER intimate.”

Chopper’s entire face was red.

“Th-they’re being so close… like… like… like adults!”

Brook swooned.

“Ahhh, young love… though neither of them seems to know it!”

Usopp pulled at his hair.

“They’re moving faster asleep than I am awake!”

Sanji—still unconscious—twitched.

The chaos grew louder and louder.

Then—

A voice cut through like a blade.

“Oi.”

Zoro stood in the doorway, arms crossed, looking bored and irritated.

“Why the hell are you idiots still screaming?”

Usopp pointed wildly.

“ZORO!! DID YOU HEAR?! THEY’RE—THEY’RE—”

Zoro rolled his eyes.

“I heard. The whole ship heard. Calm down.”

Nami leaned forward. “But it’s huge! This could change the crew’s dynamic—”

Zoro snorted.

“How? They were already close. Now they’re… closer. Who cares.”

Chopper blinked. “But—what if—”

“If it doesn’t mess with the crew,” Zoro said flatly, “it’s not our business.”

Franky opened his mouth.

Zoro raised a finger.

“And spying through windows, squealing like children, and fainting like that dumb cook makes it weird.”

Everyone slowly looked away in shame.

Zoro continued, uncaring.

“Let them sleep. Let them figure out whatever they’re figuring out. As long as Luffy’s still captain and Robin’s still Robin, nothing changes.”

The crew exchanged glances.

Usopp nodded slowly.

“…He’s right.”

Nami sighed. “Tch. Fine.”

Chopper drooped. “I still wanna make sure they’re okay…”

Franky grinned. “We’ll keep an eye on things. From a distance.”

Brook put a hand on his chest.

“I shall refrain from peeking. Unless necessary. Or comedic.”

Sanji finally regained consciousness only to faint again.

Zoro walked past all of them, unimpressed and tired.

“They’re adults. Leave them alone.”

And for once—

The rest of the crew actually listened.

Chapter 8

Morning light filtered softly through the curtains of Robin’s room, painting the walls with a pale gold glow. The Merry rocked gently, calm seas whispering against the hull.

Luffy woke first.

Not suddenly, not with his usual explosive energy — but slow and soft, like the warmth around him had lulled him into a deeper, quieter kind of rest.

His eyes opened halfway.

The first thing he saw was her.

Robin, still asleep, curled in his arms — her back pressed to his front, her breathing slow, her hair spilling like dark silk across the pillow.

Luffy blinked once.

Then smiled.

A small, soft smile that no one ever got to see except her.

Without thinking — without even considering thinking — he lifted one gentle hand and combed his fingers through her hair. Long, smooth strokes, slow enough that his fingertips lingered.

She smelled like old books and spice and sunshine.

He leaned forward, nose brushing her hair, and inhaled like it was the most natural thing in the world. Warmth filled his chest — the kind of warmth he didn’t understand but liked very, very much.

Robin stirred.

Her eyelashes fluttered.

Her body tensed.

A blush bloomed instantly across her cheeks as she realized what was happening.

Luffy’s fingers combed through her hair again.

She let out a tiny, involuntary sigh.

“Good morning,” he murmured, voice still thick with sleep.

Robin swallowed and tried to steady herself. “You’re… ah… very affectionate this morning.”

“You’re warm,” he said simply, as if that explained the universe.

She laughed softly despite herself. “You’re incorrigible.”

“Yeah,” he agreed cheerfully, no shame whatsoever.

Robin gathered herself, then tried — very carefully — to shift out of his arms.

She didn’t get far.

Luffy immediately tightened his hold, locking his arms around her waist like a sleepy octopus.

“No.”

“Luffy,” she said gently, “I need to get up.”

“No,” he repeated, burrowing his face back into her shoulder.

She tried again.

His arms tightened.

“Luffy…”

“Warm.”

She sighed — a long, resigned sigh of someone who had already lost this battle.

“Very well,” she said, settling back into the bed, “just a little longer.”

He hummed contently, nuzzling into her again.

But Robin, ever composed even while blushing furiously, cleared her throat.

“Since we’re… here… and awake… we should talk, don’t you think?”

“Talk about what?” Luffy mumbled into her hair.

“This.”

She gestured subtly to their bodies tangled together.

“To… us. What does this mean to you?”

Luffy blinked sleepily, eyes barely open.

“It means… I like being here. With you.”

Robin’s breath caught.

“And… you want to keep doing this?” she asked softly.

“Yeah.”

“No hesitation?”

“Nope.”

“Even if it means something… more?”

He blinked again, then smiled.

“More is fine.”

Her heart did something strange and fluttery.

“I see,” she whispered, voice gentle.

Luffy nodded once, then snuggled even closer, resting his head between her shoulder blades.

“Warm,” he reminded her.

Robin hid her face in the pillow, cheeks blazing.

This boy would be the end of her.

But she couldn’t stop her smile.

Not around him.

Chapter 9

Robin finally stepped out of her room, neat and composed again after washing her face… even though her cheeks still held the faintest trace of pink. Luffy followed right behind her, hair messy, shirt half-buttoned incorrectly, looking like he’d just rolled out of the softest bed in existence.

Robin stopped just outside her door and turned to him.

“Luffy,” she said gently.

“Hmm?” he replied, still half-asleep.

She took his hand.

He blinked down at their interlocked fingers.

“Why?” he asked, confused but not resisting.

Robin smiled softly. “Because I want to.”

That was all it took for him. “Okay!”

Fingers still laced, they walked together toward the deck.

The moment they stepped onto the sunny wooden floorboards of the ship—

Everything froze.

Usopp, mid-argument with Franky, paused with his hands dramatically raised.

Chopper dropped his pen and notebook.

Brook stopped tuning his violin mid-string.

Even Zoro, who was napping sitting up, opened one eye.

And Sanji…

Sanji was already in the corner of the deck, curled into a fetal position, sucking air like a wounded war veteran.

But the moment he saw their hands—

A geyser of tears shot straight upward.

“ROOOOOOBIIIN-CHWAAAAAANNNN—!!!”

He bit down on a lace handkerchief so hard it tore in the middle.

His sobbing echoed across the ocean.

The crew stared.

Robin offered a polite, calm smile.

Luffy waved cheerfully. “Morning!”

Then chaos resumed.

Usopp frantically whispered to Nami, “They’re holding hands! HE’S HOLDING ROBIN’S HAND!”

Franky adjusted his sunglasses. “That’s SUPER serious.”

Brook let out a musical trill. “Ahh, young love—yohohoho!”

Chopper looked like he was about to faint. “This is so cute I think I’m overheating!”

Sanji continued to cry in the corner, heart breaking in twelve dramatic crescendos per second.

Zoro rolled his eyes so hard it looked painful.

He crossed his arms.

“For the love of god, can you all stop gawking? It’s just hand-holding. Let them do whatever they want.”

Brook leaned in. “But it’s new romance. Surely we can observe it—”

Zoro cut him off sharply. “As long as it doesn’t mess with the crew’s work, it’s none of your damn business.”

That shut everyone up.

For approximately three seconds.

Then Sanji’s tears hit maximum flood capacity again.

Robin squeezed Luffy’s hand a little tighter.

Luffy looked up at her, smiling—warm, bright, innocent.

Robin’s heart fluttered again.

And the Sunny sailed on, chaotic and loving, its crew adapting to this new chapter, one dramatic outburst at a time.

Chapter 10

Time Skip - After the war of the best

When the news reaches Tequila Wolf, the slaves whisper about a massive war, a pirate invasion, and the death of Fire Fist Ace. The marines talk about it over their meals. Even the guards gossip. Every word hits Robin like a blade.

She remains outwardly calm—because she always does—but inside she is shattering.

Because she wasn’t there.

Because she wasn’t by Luffy’s side.

Because he needed them—needed her—and they had all been taken away.

She knows Ace was precious to him.

She knows Luffy’s heart must be breaking in ways she can barely imagine.

And she can’t do anything about it. She can’t reach him. She can’t comfort him. She can’t even send a message.

For the first time in years…

Robin feels completely powerless again.

Every night, in her tiny cold cell, she curls her knees to her chest, thinking only of the boy who had smiled at her like she mattered. The boy who had stormed Enies Lobby for her. The captain who held her while sleeping on the Sunny’s deck, arms wrapped around her like she was something he wanted to protect.

She pictures him alone, broken, kneeling over his brother’s body.

And her heart feels like it is tearing apart.

When the Revolutionary Army comes to rescue her, she keeps her composure, but her mind is somewhere far away—on a battlefield she never reached, beside a boy she couldn’t save from grief.

During her time with the Revolutionaries, she learns Luffy has survived—but is in critical emotional condition. She forces herself to remain strong, but inside, guilt and helplessness twist like thorns.

She trains harder. Studies harder. Pushes herself further.

Because when the crew reunites again—

She never wants to be separated from him like that again.

She never wants to miss his pain again.

She never wants him to face that kind of loss alone ever again.

Chapter 11

The Grove was alive with noise—voices shouting Luffy’s name, the ground trembling under the stride of the Pacifistas, dust thick in the humid air. The crew had just barely begun to regroup, one by one finding each other again on Sabaody after two long, brutal years apart.

Nami was already tearing up.

Usopp was bragging through his sniffles.

Chopper was crying openly.

Franky flexed like he’d never left.

Brook strummed a dramatic reunion chord.

Zoro smirked with thinly veiled relief.

They were all reacting loudly, happily, lovingly.

And then Robin stepped forward.

The moment she saw Luffy—really saw him—her breath hitched.

Because behind his smile

behind his “Shishishi, I’m back!”

behind the muscles, the scars, the confidence…

Robin saw it.

The grief.

The heaviness in his shoulders.

The way his eyes still flinched pain.

The way he carried Ace’s death like a scar deeper than anything on his skin.

Two years had passed, but the wound hadn’t closed.

It had only learned how to hide.

Robin felt her heart break.

Not for Ace—though she mourned him.

But for Luffy.

For everything he’d endured alone.

While the rest of the crew swarmed him with joy, Robin didn’t speak a single word. She simply walked toward him with calm, steady steps.

Luffy turned toward her, smile wide.

“Robin! You’re—”

He didn’t finish.

Because she wrapped her arms around him suddenly, fully, tightly.

A real embrace.

Not polite.

Not gentle.

Not shy.

A hug given from someone who knew, who had seen the pain inside him the moment their eyes met.

Luffy froze.

“R–Robin…?”

She pressed her cheek to his shoulder, eyes soft.

“Luffy… it’s alright. You’re safe now.”

That was all it took.

The words he had needed—without knowing it—for two years.

His breath shuddered.

His arms rose slowly, almost trembling, then closed around her. Not with captainly bravado. Not with reunion excitement.

But like a boy clinging to the one place where the ache in his chest wasn’t unbearable.

His entire body slumped into her.

And he broke.

No screams.

No dramatic cries.

Just tears—silent, heavy, endless—falling against her shoulder as he hid his face in her neck.

Sanji choked on his cigarette.

Nami covered her mouth.

Usopp’s eyes went wide.

Chopper sniffed loudly.

Brook gently turned away.

Even Zoro’s jaw tightened, watching with something like understanding.

Robin just held him closer.

“Shh… I’m here,” she whispered, stroking the back of his head. “We’re all here now.”

Luffy’s voice came out cracked, raw.

“Ace… I couldn’t… I couldn’t save him… I wasn’t strong enough—”

Robin tightened her embrace.

“You carried that burden alone for too long. But you’re not alone anymore.”

His grip tightened around her waist, burying his face deeper, letting the grief he’d bottled for two years finally escape.

No one interrupted.

No one dared.

Because their captain—so loud, so bright, so unbreakable—was finally releasing everything he had kept locked behind a smile.

And Robin…

She held him through it all.

Whispering warmth.

Steadying his breath.

Letting him fall apart just enough to heal.

When he finally quieted, still clinging to her, she cupped the back of his head and whispered:

“Welcome home, Luffy.”

His reply trembled against her shoulder.

“…I’m home.”

The crew smiled.

The storm inside their captain began, at last, to ease.

And the reunion—canon in every way but this—became something deeper, quieter, and far more beautiful.

Chapter 12

The newly reunited Straw Hats prepared to set sail from Sabaody, ready to leave the island behind. But before they could slip away, the Marines surrounded the coast, cannons locked, rifles raised, intent on stopping them then and there.

Before they could even think of retaliation, salvation arrived in a burst of pink and steel.

The Kuja Pirates sprang into action, arrows flying and ships crashing forward as Hancock herself stood proudly at the bow. With her usual dramatic flair, she struck a pose, hearts swirling around her.

“LUFFY-KUN! I SHALL CLEAR YOUR PATH WITH MY LOVE!”

She blew him a massive, sparkling kiss — the kind that would have made a lesser man pass out from the pressure alone.

Luffy blinked. “Huh? Oh! Thanks, Hancock!”

Robin’s eyes twitched.

Just once.

A slow, calm inhale. A quiet exhale.

Then she stepped a little closer to Luffy, gently tugging on the hem of his vest.

He turned to her. “Robin? What’s—”

She pulled him down and kissed him. Strongly. Unhurried, confident, claiming him with a clarity that left zero room for misinterpretation — especially for anyone who happened to be watching from a pink pirate ship covered in heart motifs.

Luffy froze, face exploding red.

Sanji fainted somewhere behind them.

The Marines panicked.

The Kuja Pirates collectively shrieked in emotional agony.

Boa Hancock turned to stone just a little.

When Robin finally pulled away, Luffy was a blushing, overheated mess.

“R-Robin…?!”

She opened her mouth to say something cool, something elegant, something fitting for the calm, composed archaeologist of the crew—

But then she fully processed what she had just done.

Her own face flushed scarlet to match Luffy’s.

“…Oh.”

Robin touched her lips, eyes wide, cheeks burning.

Luffy mirrored her, both of them now blushing so fiercely they could probably light a lantern.

Behind them, the crew was losing their collective minds.

But the only thing Robin could think was—

I actually did that.

And the only thing Luffy could think was—

She kissed me…!

Together, still red as tomatoes, they hurried back toward the Sunny, hand in hand, while the world around them continued to explode in chaos.

And somewhere far behind, Hancock screamed internally.
