Work Text:
Leo, Jason, and I were all sitting around bunker nine. I was on a beanbag chair, Jason had claimed the couch, and we’d forced Leo to be in the armchair rather than turning into a hunchback at his work table.
“Guys!” Leo said, looking up from the mechanical bluejay he’d been making. “I have the best idea!”
I looked at Jason. We stare at each other for a moment of conversation. The conversation was as follows:
Me: stupid or smart?
Jason: smart
Me: really?
Jason: I’m his boyfriend and therefore am supposed to be supportive
Me: fine. You can be wrong then
Anyways, we had to actually figure out what his idea was for that entire three millisecond conversation to make sense.
“Oh?” I asked. “What is it?”
“I could make a frozen yogurt machine,” Leo said.
“Leo. I don’t doubt you can make it, but where in the world are we going to get the ingredients to make the froyo itself?” I asked.
“You could. Isn’t your dad rich?” Leo said.
“He is, but he doesn’t know I’m a demigod. Or did you forget the time had to drug my dad so he wouldn’t get super traumatized by our quest?” I snapped.
“Oh yeah, sorry. We could talk to the Stoll brothers though. They might be able to help,” Leo said.
“Or Nico. Hades is super rich,” Jason added.
That gave me an idea.
“Jason. You go talk to the Stoll brothers. I know how to get Nico to help us. Meet at the Poseidon cabin to talk to Percy and Annabeth about it,” I said.
“Okay,” Jason agreed.
So we left Leo to make the frozen yogurt machine and I headed straight to the infirmary.
Walking in, I immediately noticed the blonde mop of hair I was looking for.
“Hi Will!” I yelled. He looked up from the charts he was writing.
“Hi Piper!” He exclaimed. “Are you hurt?”
“No, I actually just came in here to tell you about the frozen yogurt machine Leo’s making,” I told him.
His face brightened “Oo, cool. When’s it gonna be ready?”
“That’s the thing,” I looked down at the floor. “We don’t have the materials to make the frozen yogurt itself. Got any ideas?”
He thought for a moment before his face lit up with an idea. “We could ask Nico. Hades is like super rich.”
“Sounds good,” I agreed. “Wanna go ask him together?”
Will looked down at his charts, hesitating a moment before nodding his head. “Sure, let’s go.”
We walked out of the infirmary, through the big house, and down to where all the cabins were.
We finally arrived at cabin thirteen (despite me going on multiple quests I was still less than happy at the amount of walking you had to do to get anywhere and… oh! Story, right!
So anyways we were at the hades cabin, and Will had just knocked on the door. “Nico,” he called.
“Nico,” he said agin louder. “Nico, please I really want to tell you something.”
They waited a few more minutes, but by then I was fed up. “Just open it up for us, you have a key right?”
“Yeah, gimme a second,” Will said, rummaging around in his pockets. He pulled out a key and unlocked the door.
He opened the door and… froze.
“Will,” I whispered, coming up beside him. And that’s when I saw it. What had him frozen in place.

There Nico lay, on the ground, covered in drying blood. His eyes were dull and there was a large gash along his neck. A blade sat not far off from where his right hand lay.
“Nico,” Will said, rushing towards him.
