Work Text:
Courtney hated hospitals.
The smell stung her nose, the nurses always had an attitude, and the doctors always sounded like they were talking down to her.
If it were up to her she would've busted out of here in a week just to fix the bullet hole in her shoulder...but she had to get her augment removed too. It had officially stopped working since Robert had killed Shroud. The high and mighty doctor had insisted that it had to be removed, Robert assuring her that he and Royd were working overtime on a replacement.
And so two weeks later her bullet hole was patched up and her bright red augment was replaced with a much smaller, cleaner, and bluer one, designed by Royd with the help of a doctor friend of his and Robert. Courtney's fingers had grazed over the new augment with a small smile. It was more compact, not as bulky and mostly under the skin, save for a small golf ball sized portion that sat at the base of her sternum. It felt nice, to finally be free of Shroud completely...even if she couldn't quite remove the remaining scars of what she had done.
What did not feel nice was having to stay in this hellhole for an entire month following the procedure "For observation" the doctors had said. It was new technology, experimental, and they had to make sure it worked.
Robert had checked on her every single day, whether in person or via call. They had talked a lot, about the office, about the new augment...and about them.
It felt nice, having someone care about her, even if it sucked even more when he had to leave and she was left alone staring up at the hospital ceiling at night. They tried to do late night calls every now and then too, but he was often exhausted from SDN work, Torrance was still in ruins, and heroes needed to be dispatched after all.
"Let's do something once you get out." Robert had said one night over facetime
"Like what? I can't strain myself, remember?" she had asked, glaring up at the ceiling, her phone laying on the pillow beside her, one earbud in her ear.
"...Well, I never did see the prequel to that movie"
Courtney scoffed, side eyeing her phone, as if he was really laying next to her "You know it's only a prequel if it comes out afterwards, right?"
Robert shrugged on the other end of the line, laying on his couch and staring up at his own ceiling. His phone rested beside him, balanced on a tower of boxes. "Details...we can have a movie night if you want."
Courtney paused, unsure if she heard correctly "Are you asking me to come over?" she asked.
Robert chuckled "No other way to watch it, right? We can have a date at my place to celebrate you being released next week."
Courtney bit the inside of her cheek to keep a smile from appearing on her face, refusing to give Robert the satisfaction, even over the phone. It would be nice...a normal date. She thought for a moment before nodding "Ok...on one condition" she said.
"What do you need?"
She didn't know why those words made her heart skip a beat, but she shook it off and continued "You need to get some proper fucking furniture Robert."
Robert looked around at his empty apartment and laughed "Yeah, alright, fair enough" he said "I'll see what I can do...at least I won't have to buy a lamp."
Courtney laughed at that "Yeah, sorry...when I said 'bring a lamp or something' I thought they'd be a bit more coordinated."
Robert shrugged "Brightens the place up a bit..."
Courtney rolled her eyes with a smile "That was such a lame joke..."
"And yet you're smiling."
"Shut up. Goodnight."
The visits and late night calls continued, Courtney counting down the days until she could finally leave. When she was discharged at long last she was surprised to see Mandy waiting outside for her, new car keys in hand. Courtney tried to hide her disappointment as she hopped in the passenger seat of her car.
"Don't look too happy to see me." Mandy joked as she started the car.
"Sorry...I just..." Courtney trailed off.
Mandy chuckled "I'm kidding, I get it. But he said he was busy prepping something for you...he apparently needed the entire Z-team for it."
Courtney blinked, confused. "Prepping...what?" she asked.
"I dunno...caught him on his phone looking at IKEA furniture though, if that tells you anything."
Courtney smiled at that, realization dawning upon her. "Seriously?" she asked.
Mandy spared her a glance with a grin.
While she may have been disappointed to not see Robert immediately upon being released, Courtney was happy to be home and take a proper shower with her own products and sleep in her own bed. She spared a glance at the box of cigarettes on her bedside table before chucking them in the trash, Royd's words echoing in her mind.
"We worked hard on this, yeah? Don't mess up my work."
She had tried to quit in the past, several times in fact, but maybe this time it would actually stick. Having to go without them for over a month had made the cravings subside a bit anyway...after the most awful withdrawals she had ever gone through in her life.
Courtney hopped in the shower, scrubbing the smell of hospital out of her skin for what felt like hours before stepping out and finally collapsing onto her own bed, passing out almost immediately.
She and Mandy went into the office the next day, the building mostly restored to its former glory. Courtney glanced at Mandy as she fidgeted in the elevator. "What's up? Too much coffee today?" she asked.
"No! I'm fine." she said.
Courtney deadpanned and rolled her eyes "Okay...what's going on?" she asked "Am I secretly fired? Are there going to be a bunch of guys in suits when we get up there who are gonna take me into a tiny room and ask a bunch of questions?"
"Of course not! You didn't do anything wrong."
"...Well that's a lie."
"Courtney" Mandy sighed, placing a hand on her shoulders. "Look, I know you struggle with this but...you're a hero now! You're not in trouble."
Courtney hated that word. 'Hero' it didn't feel quite right to her that everyone just willfully forgot what she had done. Yes, that was the point of the Phoenix Program but she had fucked up while still in the program. It was...odd. As if soon everyone would snap out of a daze and realize that she was a fraud who didn't belong.
"So then what's up?" Courtney asked, changing the subject "You're way too jittery."
"Well..."
The elevator doors opened, Courtney's eyes growing wide at the crowd on the other side of the doors cheering. Balloons and banners littered the office as she and Mandy stepped through the doors.
"Welcome back!"
Malevola gave her a harsh pat on the back as Courtney took it all in. "What's all this?" she asked, her eyes focusing on Robert, who smiled and shrugged, Chase floating beside him, arms folded across his chest and giving her a curt nod and a smile.
"It's for you." Mandy said as someone wheeled in a cart overflowing with gift-wrapped boxes. "And the gifts, we wanted to welcome you back."
Courtney felt tears pricking her eyes, which she willed away with practiced resolve. "Well...uh...thanks..." she said, unsure of what to say.
"Welcome back lass!"
"We missed you."
"You gonna get back to work now? We can stop picking up your slack."
"Harsh man"
"Don't go being all lovey with Bob-Bob on the clock. He sucks enough as it is without distractions."
The "celebration" was rather quick, they had a lot of work to do after all, but Courtney couldn't the warm and fuzzy feeling she had for the rest of the day.
When the day was finally over she stopped by Robert's desk to see him packing up her gifts in boxes. "You stealing from me Robert?" she asked.
Robert rolled his eyes and smiled as he finished sealing the last box with packing tape. "I assumed you wanted to bring these over, we can stop by your place to drop them off if you'd like."
Courtney thought for a moment and shook her head "We can do that tomorrow, I've kinda got a date tonight."
Robert smiled "Yeah? Who's the lucky guy?"
"Eh, some guy from work. Not really my type but figured I'd give him a shot. He did buy me my favorite candy...and a bucket of corn."
The two of them laughed as Chase entered the office "Hey, if y'all are gonna be all lovey-dovey over here, get out. Robert, I already put all the boxes in the trunk." he said, tossing Robert a set of keys, which he caught seamlessly.
"Thanks Chase." he said, picking up the last box sitting on his chair with one hand, slinging his bag over his shoulder and grabbing onto Courtney's hand with the other, leading her out of the building.
As the two of them drove off Courtney glanced at the array of boxes in the backseat of the car, that sinking feeling returning to the pit of her stomach. "I...really wasn't expecting all of this." she said.
"Being a hero comes with all kinds of perks." Robert said "And you deserve every one of them."
Courtney glanced at him, his gaze focused on the road. Had he really meant that? She had basically ruined his life, his superhero persona...yeah she had caught a bullet for him but did that really undo everything else she had done?
"Courtney...I know that look."
Courtney quickly turned her face away, staring out the passenger side window. "What look?" she asked, cursing as she realized they were pulling into the parking spot in front of his building. The one time you need LA traffic to be on your side...
Robert grabbed her chin and turned her face, forcing her to look at him "That look of 'this is all too good for me'. You had the same look in the office today and several times since I've met you."
Damn him and his observation skills. Courtney thought to herself.
"In the moment where it mattered most you chose to be a hero, let that moment define you, everything before then doesn't matter anymore..."
Courtney held Robert's gaze, searching his eyes for any seed of doubt, that he was lying, sugarcoating it...instead she found nothing but trust and hope and...happiness? She wasn't sure. She looked away and scoffed, hiding her discomfort as she felt her face heating up. "Where'd you get that from? A fortune cookie?"
"Yeah, I bought the guys Chinese food last night as a thank you for helping me out with the non-negotiable furniture."
Courtney went to say something only for Robert to cut her off with a kiss on the cheek. "No more self doubt. C'mon, let's get upstairs."
Courtney watched as Robert exited the car, walking around the front to open the door for her. She shook her head, staring down at her lap for a moment before getting out of the car, silently following Robert upstairs. Maybe she'd let herself believe him just this once...he had never steered her wrong before, right?
"Sure hope not picking me up from the hospital was worth it Robert...I was kinda hurt." Courtney said as he fiddled with his keys.
Robert chuckled "Sorry, had to make sure everything was set up...wouldn't want you to be disappointed, we made a deal after all."
"Oh? Got a new bed for me to help you break in?"
Robert twisted the key in the lock, turning to face Courtney, who had an all too familiar grin on her face "Maybe if you're lucky." he said.
Courtney scoffed, following him into the apartment as he opened the door and walked in.
Beef's nails clicked against the floor of the apartment, stopping at the welcome mat laid on the floor on the other side of the door, looking up at her, his tail wagging.
Courtney smiled, petting him on the head as she entered, shutting the door behind her. She stood up and froze. , taking in her surroundings.
There was no way this was the same apartment.
The walls were a brighter blue than before, not the washed out dull grayish color she remembered, even the crack on the wall had been covered up. There was a small TV resting on a dresser on the right hand side with floating bookshelves on either side, the couch Mandy had brought (now with added throw pillows) sat a few feet in front of it with a coffee table and even a rug placed between the two. On the opposite wall was a small bed with a nightstand at the head of it, the salt lamp Bruno brought resting on on top. The chandelier Malevola brought was moved to the center of the room.
Courtney approached the shelves around the TV, taking note of a dog bed set beside the couch. The shelves were filled with various trinkets, including a mini mecha man figure, a mini astral pulse replica and an array of photos of the Z-team, young Robert, and his father.
Courtney turned, taking in every detail of the space, as if expecting it to all disappear "Whoa...this is...different."
Robert laughed "I'll take that as a complement...took me a while to build this." he said, grabbing the remote from a drawer in the coffee table and setting the movie on the TV before making his way to the kitchen
"All by yourself? Thought you had the Z-team helping?" she asked, walking over to the window, noticing a small table was added to the balcony, she snorted as she noticed a familiar piece of furniture beside the new table. "You kept the chair?"
"It has...sentimental value." Robert said, drawing another snort from Courtney. "And yeah, the team helped with building and bringing it upstairs, but the dresser showed up after they left...getting the tracks on it was a bitch."
Courtney tossed her jacket over the back of the couch, falling back onto it. "Well thank you for your sacrifice Robert, I'm sure getting new furniture was super hard for you." she said.
Robert shrugged "SDN finally paid me so I was able to get around to it." he said as dug through some kitchen cabinets, pulling out a box of microwave popcorn and tossing it in, pressing a few buttons.
Courtney blinked "Wait, you haven't been getting paid this whole time?"
"Nope. Salary's been under review since I started. Ironically enough getting half the city destroyed really sped up that process."
Courtney scoffed in disbelief "Maybe we should destroy shit more often if that's the case. Make the pencil pushers get some work done."
"Please don't"
The two of them laughed and soon Robert came over with a bowl of popcorn in one hand, a bag of Sour Patch Kids in the other and two cans of soda tucked between his elbow, placing the array of snacks on the coffee table in front of them before going to turn off the lights and draw the curtains closed over the setting sun, plunging the room into mostly darkness, the TV providing the only source of light.
Courtney sat back as Robert played the movie, taking his place next to her.
"...Maybe it's for the best you didn't hear me rambling about this movie..." Courtney said as she took a handful of Sour Patch Kids.
Robert shrugged as he leaned forward to grab a handful of popcorn. "See? It all worked out."
The two sat in silence for a while as the film played, Courtney chuckling every now and then as Robert reacted to something on screen in disbelief or awe. The two of them drawing closer and closer, resting her head on his chest, his arm wrapped around her shoulder.
"How does he not recognize that it's not her? They don't even look alike."
"Eh, love makes you blind or whatever."
"...That's not how the saying goes."
She wasn't sure when it happened, maybe it was because she was tired from her extensive hospital stay or Robert was tired from a long month of dispatching, but they had ended up laying across the couch, Robert behind her, head resting on one of the throw pillows, while Courtney lay in front of him, barely an inch of space between the two of them.
Courtney felt her face heat up as they arrived at the romantic part of the movie, biting her lower lip. She tried not to think about it, to not be envious of the female lead on screen. Courtney wasn't made for that kind of stuff, being gentle or romantic or...
Her breath hitched, making her disappear as Robert's lips grazed the back of her neck. She caught herself, forcing herself to breathe again as a low chuckle came from behind her. "Sorry, did I scare you?" he asked, sending a shiver down her spine at how close he was, his breath warm and ticklish against her skin.
"Y-Yeah but...it's fine." she said, turning her attention back to the movie, biting her lip as Robert's hand found a place on her hip, feather light touches drawing invisible shapes along the exposed skin. Courtney held back a moan as Robert's lips found the crook of her neck, soft kisses focusing there, trailing down her shoulder. She shifted slightly closer to him, his hand slid from her hip to her abdomen, grazing the waist of her pants and making her flinch slightly at the ticklish sensation. Roberts hand immediately pulled away, and the feeling of his lips on her skin stopped
"Why'd you stop?" she asked, turning slightly to face him, trying to hide the disappointment in her voice.
Robert blinked, surprised, before a knowing smile appeared on his face. "Thought you wanted me to."
"When the fuck did I say that?" Courtney asked, turning to face him completely now.
Robert shrugged "You flinched, thought you wanted me to stop, that's all." Courtney murmured something under her breath, making Robert draw even closer to her, leaving very little room between them on the already cramped couch "What was that? I couldn't hear you."
"I...I said I didn't."
"Didn't what?"
"Want you...to stop..."
She could feel her face getting warm, whether it was because of the obvious teasing or because she was pissed at having to admit that she enjoyed such a gentle gesture, she wasn't sure. But the grin on Robert's face didn't help. He knew what she wanted, and she had a feeling he was going to use it to his advantage. She held her breath and immediately turned away from him, only reappearing after her face was out of sight.
Robert surprised her by placing a kiss on the back of her neck once again, pulling her closer to him, closing the last miniscule bit of space between them and pressing firmly against her. His lips found that spot on her neck once again and continued with soft kisses from her neck down her shoulder. She whimpered, electricity running down her spine as Robert's deep chuckle resonated in her ear. She could feel him pressing up against her from behind, making the dull aching sensation between her legs worse, her thighs pressed together and she bit her lip as he pressed further into her, the hand that was around her waist sliding down to her thigh and giving a firm squeeze. She stifled a moan, the dull aching pain between her legs growing worse.
"Sh-Shut up." Courtney mumbled.
Robert pulled away from her "I didn't say anything." he whispered. His hand was still on her thigh, fingertips tracing a delicate pattern on the fabric of her pants. "If you want me to stop, all you have to do is say so..."
Courtney said nothing, tilting her head further to the side, giving him easier access to her neck. "I...I already said I didn't..."
Fuck. Why was she stammering so much? Who was she? Waterboy?
Robert hummed, leaning forward once again, pressing his lips against her skin. This time, however, his kisses were even softer, his fingertips grazing against her skin with a featherlight touch that made Courtney bite her tongue to keep from whimpering as his lips whispered against her skin. Courtney felt like she was on fire. The soft and delicate touches were nice but she needed more. Her mind was growing hazy, she felt like she was almost floating. Reality crashed into her as Robert nipped at the skin on the back of her shoulder, drawing a gasp from her. She willed herself to breathe and not pull away again by reflex, not wanting him to stop again. She gasped as she felt his mouth close around the skin and suck, surely leaving a mark.
Robert's lips pulled away from her skin for just a moment, nearly making her cry out. "Good girl..." he whispered before returning to his ministrations.
Courtney bit her lip, refusing to let him know just how much that affected her, though the shiver that went through her have it away. She shifted backwards, trying to get even closer to him, even if it wasn't physically possible. Her hips moved, grinding against him and drawing out a low moan from him. She gasped as she felt his hips thrust against her, adding to the pool she could feel building between her thighs. He groaned against her back, resting his head on her shoulder. She could feel him panting, his breath hitting her back "Fuck....Courtney..." she heard him murmur, his voice thick.
Damn his voice and the rest of him. She thought to herself. She enjoyed hearing him speak over the comm line, and hearing that same voice now was surely going to make things harder at work.
She needed more than just his voice though. Pressure, friction, something to help with the aching between her legs. She was sure her underwear was ruined by now.
When she felt his teeth graze the sensitive spot on her neck she nearly jumped, a low moan drawing from her throat. "Fuck..."
Robert's deep chuckle made Courtney shudder, and soon the hand that was on her hip wrapped around her, pressing her even closer to him while his other hand cupped her breast over her shirt, circling around her nipple as it perked up through the fabric. Robert's tongue swirled around her shoulder before sucking on the skin, leaving a second mark. She would have to cover that up in the morning to keep Mandy from harassing her with a safe sex seminar.
His actions drew more whimpers and moans from her that she no longer bothered to try and suppress. She was gone, lost in pleasure and more than happy to take whatever Robert gave her. She cried out as the hand that was around her abdomen went back to her thigh, giving a firm squeeze.
Courtney whined as Robert pulled away, the warmth behind her disappearing. Her cries were silenced as he decided he was tired of covering her neck with hickeys and kisses, instead drawing her into a kiss, shifting so he was now above her as she lay back on the couch. His lips swallowing her moans as his hand gripped onto curve of her ass, the other burying itself in her hair. His teeth gently grazed at her lower lip, and she gladly opened up for him and soon disappeared as her breath ran low, her hands buried themselves in his hair, pulling him closer into the kiss. Robert groaned against her lips as her nails scratched his scalp, pulling her closer.
She pulled away only a moment later, remembering that she needed to breathe only slightly more than she needed Robert to keep doing whatever he wanted to her. Robert's gaze focused on her, his chest rising and falling along with hers.
Courtney wasn't sure what she looked like at this moment, but Robert's clouded over gaze was filled with lust and adoration. His hand moved from her hair to cupping the side of her face, his thumb brushing over her lower lip. She was so tempted to take it into her mouth, recreate her dream, but she was too captured in his gaze, frozen in place.
"Are you okay?" he whispered.
Courtney blinked, confused. She didn't expect that. Her head felt like it was filled with static, her skin felt like she was on fire, her underwear was likely ruined, and she was breathing heavy, but not enough to need her inhaler... "Yeah, of course, better than okay." she said between breaths. The new augment was surely doing a lot of work if she was still able to speak.
Robert smiled at her response. "Good...do you want to keep going?" he asked "We can stop here if you're not comfortable. I'll follow your lead."
Courtney's heart soared. The look in his eyes went from lustful to looking at her like she was the most precious thing in the world. She dreamed of earning that look from him. "C'mon Robert...I'm not gonna be satisfied with just some heavy petting." she said, leaning into another brief kiss before pulling away and smirking at him "Or are you too afraid to finish what you started?"
Robert chuckled, and before she knew it she had been pulled into his lap. His lips traced her jaw with hot open mouthed kisses that sent waves of electricity down her spine. She moaned as her hips moved on their own against him, grinding against the growing erection in his pants. Robert moaned, pulling away and resting his forehead on Courtney's shoulder, his hands grabbing onto her hips to keep her from moving. "...Maybe we should move on to the bed..." he whispered.
Courtney nodded, placing her own gentle kisses against Robert's neck, trying to mimic his actions, delighted as she felt him shiver beneath her.
Her heart jumped as Robert picked her up in his arms, her arms wrapping around his neck and her legs around his waist by instinct. "Whoa...when did you get so strong?" she asked, amazed as Robert walked them towards the bed.
Robert smiled and shrugged "Being in a coma for four months does make you a bit weak...doesn't mean I had to stay that way." he said, capturing her lips with his own once again.
Courtney hadn't realized until that moment, but Robert was definitely a bit bigger than he was before, having added a decent bit of muscle over the past month. Her hands moved down his shoulders and arms, giving a firm squeeze to his bicep as Robert gently lay her down on the bed. He pulled away from the kiss with a smile "Are you testing it or something?" he asked, looking down at her hand on his arm.
Courtney shrugged "Gotta make sure it's not like...an inflatable suit or something."
Robert chuckled, hands moving to beneath her shirt, undoing her bra clasp with a twist of his fingers and pulling her shirt over her head. He moved between her breasts, careful around her augment, taking one nipple in his mouth one hand supporting her back as she sat up while the other hand slid between her thighs, drawing a gasp as she finally got what she'd been waiting for. Robert let out a low groan of approval as her thighs squeezed shut around his hand, his fingers slowly trailing up and down, teasing her through the fabric of her pants.
"Robert...fuck!" she moaned, head lolling back. Robert simply switched from one breast to the other, tongue swirling around her nipple before sucking, making her cry out again.
Courtney's hands were desperately grabbing on for something, one hand gripped onto the sheets while the other buried into Roberts hair, her nails scratching his scalp and drawing out another deliciously low moan from him. Robert slowly pulled away, focusing on her neck again, placing gentle kisses on her shoulder as his hands moved to her pants, attempting to undo her belt.
She placed one hand over his, stopping his hand from going any further. Robert immediately pulled away completely, eyes searching hers for any sign of discomfort. "What's wrong?" he asked quickly.
Courtney let out a laugh, her heart swelling with joy over his concern. "I'm fine..." she said as she sat up, reaching to cup his face with both hands, one hand slowly sliding down the jaw, down the side of his neck, her nails just slightly grazing the skin there. She noticed how his breath hitched when she did so, another shiver running through him. She smiled at him as her fingers moved further down his chest to undo the buttons of his SDN shirt "I just don't think it'd be fair if I was the only one naked..." she said, looking up at him through her lashes
Robert looked down, just noticing the disparity between the two. He chuckled and undid the rest of his shirt buttons quickly, standing up and taking off his pants as well, leaving him in only black boxers. "Better?" he asked, sitting on the edge of the bed.
Courtney took in his form completely now. His torso was still bruised and scratched up, some marks faded and others more pronounced, but he was definitely broader and more defined than the last time she saw him half naked. She nodded in approval and undid her belt, allowing Robert to help her finish completely undressing.
Robert pulled her pants down to her ankles, the cool air making her shiver as it ran over her overheated skin. Robert kissed her once again, her nails gently scratching over his scalp. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer, burying his hands in her hair and leaning her back down onto the bed. "Fuck...I love when you do that..." he whispered against her lips.
"Mmm...I noticed" she whispered back.
A moment later her pants were tossed aside and Robert hovered over her, laying between her legs, supporting himself with one hand while the other reached up on the nightstand to turn on the salt lamp that sat there, casting the room in a soft pinkish glow. He trailed down her body with soft kisses until he placed himself between her thighs, lips gently grazing the skin on her inner thigh. He lifted one leg onto his shoulder, his lips at her knee, placing delicate kisses up to where she wanted him to be most, only to completely ignore her whimpers and place one leg down, moving on to the next thigh, doing the same thing.
"Robert I swear to God!" Courtney cried out.
Robert simply looked at her, placing a gentle nip on her skin before his tongue grazed her inner thigh. Courtney moaned, fists gripping onto the sheets for dear life. "Robert!" she whined. She was desperate, she could feel just how damp the sheets beneath her were. She just needed him to move a little bit closer...
Robert hummed, tongue slowly trailing from beside her knee, following the same path as the kisses. "You're making a lot of noise...but not quite telling me what you want Courtney..." he said with a tone that made her breathing go heavy and her mind blank.
She knew it. He was being all lovey and romantic but she knew he was going to use this opportunity to get her back. "Fuck....was this your plan? Get me all wet and horny and not do anything about it?" she asked.
"I don't know what you want me to do. Like I said, I'm following your lead."
Courtney groaned. "You motherfucking assho-ah!" she cried out as he nipped at her thigh, his tongue then slowly rolling over the same area, making her shudder.
"Language."
"Fuck...please." she murmured.
"Hm?" Robert hummed, maintaining eye contact with her as he inched ever so closer to her, still continuing gentle kisses. Courtney gasped as his fingers gently grazed against her core, back arching off the bed as the sensation sent a shot of electricity down her spine and she disappeared. He continued the gentle teasing, his fingers ever so lightly circling her clit with such a gentle touch that made her want to scream So close... she could practically hear him say Just a bit louder.
She cried out, trying to kick him in her frustration only for him to grab both of her ankles and hold her in place, moving even further from her goal as he stared at her from the other end of the bed, a firm grip keeping her feet planted to the mattress. No more kisses, no more attention.
Her skin was too hot and she was too sensitive. She felt like she was going to explode. She just needed him to...
"Please! Fuck m-" Courtney cut herself off with a cry of pleasure as finally, finally Robert's tongue swirled around her clit, his fingers entering her at the same time, slowly pumping in and out and curling in just the right way to make her see stars.
Courtney's hips moved on their own, desperate for more. More friction, more speed, more.
Robert seemed to pick up just how desperate she was because his tongue and fingers moved quickly, pulling her closer and closer to the edge she so desperately craved. He moaned as his mouth closed around her completely, the vibrations making her disappear as her breath caught in her throat, her hands tightening the grip she had around the sheets beneath her, knuckles turning white. His hands moved to her hips as she reappeared, holding her in place while his tongue kept moving in ways that made Courtney's mind go completely blank as she blipped in and out of visibility, her chest rising and falling rapidly with each breath as she got closer and closer.
She screamed, her vision going white and her thighs squeezing Robert's head between them as she finally fell over the edge, almost certain she had torn holes in the sheets with how tightly she gripped them.
After a few moments Robert was able to slowly pull away from her, the lock her thighs had around him loosening. He looked over her with an expression of pride. If Courtney had been fully aware she probably would've slapped it off his face, but she was too busy enjoying riding the wave. Her limbs felt heavy, and her eyes were glazed over, she was practically drooling while riding that delicious high. She was barely aware of Robert whispering in her ear. "...one more?" was all she heard him whisper, sounding very far away despite being right next to her.
Courtney whimpered and nodded. Yes, she could do one more for him. She wanted to feel more of him, give herself entirely to him. One more would do it for sure.
She let Robert turn her onto her stomach, letting out pathetic mewls of pleasure as he placed gentle kisses down her spine, her entire body still sensitive and seeming to multiply the sensation by a thousand. Courtney sunk into the mattress, acutely aware of his movements around her as he lifted her hips slightly. She trusted him completely, he could do whatever he wanted and she would let him, he could break her and rebuild her as many times as he pleased as long as he kept making her feel this way.
She gasped as she felt him press against her, slowly working his way inside. She moaned into the pillow beneath her, biting into it, attempting muffle the sounds she made. If she had any wits left about her she would've likely been embarrassed, but she was too focused on the feeling of him all around her, stretching her, filling her. Robert grunted above her, taking his time sliding all the way into her. She whimpered as she felt his hips meet hers, holding the position for only a moment before he slowly began to move, his hands firmly on her hips as he moved to a slow rhythm.
Courtney panted, lifting her hips slightly as he paused inside her. She felt so full, so hot. She needed more of him, all of him.
Robert hissed as Courtney tightened around him. He cursed, hips moving slightly faster now, his mouth on the back of her neck as he pulled her closer to him, one arm over her chest holding her up, her back against his chest. He whispered sweet nothings into her ear, words she was too far gone to fully register but sounded oh so good, her eyes glazed over and focused only on how he felt, how warm he was, his breath on her skin, the warm, wet kisses he placed there, how she wanted to feel him inside her. He was her entire world, nothing else mattered.
Robert's hip jerked forward just a little too hard. She fell forward, Robert falling with her, pressing her hips into the mattress with a groan "Court...ney...."
That did it. The broken way he said her name finally pushed her over the edge at the same time as him. She cried out as he buried himself into her completely, shuddering as she felt him pulsating inside her. Robert managed to lift himself on his forearms, not completely crushing her into the mattress, though she wouldn't have been opposed to it.
Courtney's heavenly daze was broken breathing became ragged and she panicked as she felt her airways constrict. She looked around desperately for her pants in the dim light, her inhaler in the back pocket. She tried to pull away from Robert, drawing a low hiss from him. Her limbs felt heavy, she couldn't move fast enough.
Before she could make any sort of move to communicate with him what she needed her inhaler appeared in front of her, Roberts finger on the plunger. "Breathe..." he whispered, sending a shiver down her spine as she took the inhaler in her mouth and breathed in as he pressed down on the medication.
Courtney breathed a sigh of relief as Robert placed the inhaler back on the nightstand and slowly pulled out of her, making her shudder at the sensation.
Courtney slowly turned towards him, still dazed, "When...when did you..."
"When I took off your pants earlier. I know the new augment works fine, but figured it'd be better safe than sorry." he said.
Courtney nodded slowly. She groaned as she lay back down, only to hear Robert chuckle and feel him place a kiss on her temple. The bed shifted as he stood up.
Her eyelids were too heavy to follow him but she could hear just fine, though it sounded far. She heard the door to the bathroom open and close, running water, the bathroom opening and closing again, the opening of the fridge and a kitchen drawer.
She groaned as she felt something warm between her legs, peeking one eye open to see Robert with a damp washcloth between her legs, wiping the mess from where it clung to her thighs, he had pulled on a new pair of boxers.
Robert looked up to see her looking at him, finishing cleaning her before making his way to the head of the bed, helping her sit up and pressing a bottle of pink-tinted water to her lips. She took a slow sip, only to sit up and down the rest when she realized just how thirsty she was. "Slow down." Robert said, chuckling as he tried to pull the bottle from her "Don't choke now."
Courtney sighed, placing the now empty water bottle on the nightstand beside the torn open electrolyte packet that he'd mixed in and an empty condom wrapper. At least one of us was thinking clear enough for that she thought to herself.
Robert adjusted the two of them so his back was to the wall and Courtney was nestled between his legs, the sheet draped over her naked body. "How do you feel? Need anything?" he asked, fingers gently massaging her scalp.
Courtney let out a sigh of pleasure, leaning into his touch, her eyes closed. She understood why he enjoyed that so much now. "Well...I don't think I'll be able to walk for a while, my legs feel like Jell-O." she said.
Robert laughed, placing a kiss on her cheek. "Guess I did a good job then...at least you finished this time."
Courtney turned slightly, giving him a confused look over her shoulder.
"You said you dreamt we were fucking and you didn't finish." Robert explained.
Realization dawned on Courtney, making her laugh. "I forgot...yeah, I kinda lied about that...." she said.
"So you didn't dream we were fucking?" Robert asked, arms wrapping around her as he tucked his chin into her shoulder, pulling her closer to him.
"No, that part was true...but I did finish."
"Only once?"
"Uhhh...yeah?"
Robert nodded slowly and then shrugged. "Okay. So one to dream-me and twice to real-me. I still win."
Courtney scoffed "You do know you're competing with yourself, right?"
"Yeah...that way I always win." he deadpanned
Courtney laughed, shaking her head as Robert placed a kiss on her temple. "Yeah, alright...it was better this time. We didn't have any of...this...in the dream." she said, intertwining her fingers with his.
"Not big on cuddling?" Robert asked, giving her a squeeze.
Courtney scoffed "Not...used to it. Like I said, I grew up around villains my whole life...even when I did have a boyfriend it wasn't...like this." her gaze traveled around the small apartment, gaze landing on the screen where the end credits of the movie were playing. "I'm...not used to a lot of this stuff...movie dates and..." she trailed off
Robert nodded slowly "It's okay...you're doing a lot of new things lately, and you're doing amazing...what's one more new experience?"
Courtney smiled softly, "Yeah...that's a good way of putting it."
She yawned and Robert smiled "Tired already? It's only like...nine."
"I wonder who's fault that is." Courtney said, pulling away from him and attempting to stand, slowly testing her balance. Robert immediately moved forward to catch her if she fell, sighing in relief as she only slightly tripped, catching herself. She took a few short steps before nodding and turning to Robert. "I don't suppose you have a toothbrush I could borrow? Unless you really are going to kick me out?"
Robert smiled and walked over to the dresser, pulling out the bottom drawer grabbing a neatly folded pile of items and handing it to Courtney. It had a towel, a toothbrush, and an oversized T-shirt. She looked at the items and glanced back up at him, one eyebrow raised. "You...seemed really prepared for this. Was this your plan all along?" she asked.
Robert's face turned slightly pink as he laughed, shaking his head "Not...quite. Chad made that joke about how I should lock you down and then him and Alice put together a whole PowerPoint presentation...everyone else made me sit through it."
Courtney blinked twice before bursting out into laughter. "Did they actually?! I need to see that!"
Robert sighed, embarrassed "Probably should've held out on all that, huh?"
Courtney grinned "What? Do I have a drawer here too? Shampoo and conditioner?" she joked.
Robert smiled and placed a kiss on her forehead "If you want a drawer, sure. You can have whatever you want."
Courtney felt her face heating up. Not sure how to respond, she disappeared and silently made her way to the bathroom, clutching the towel and T-shirt to her chest.
She closed the door behind her and fell to her knees onto the cool tile floor, staring up at the ceiling.
What was this feeling? She felt all warm and fuzzy and...happy? Comfortable? There were too many new feelings, emotions...it was overwhelming.
She stood up and caught her reflection in the mirror. Her neck had various hickeys and more were scattered around her body, her hair was an absolute mess, her lips were slightly swollen and she had a dopey grin on her face.
Fuck...she was in love, wasn't she?
She quickly took a cold shower, erasing the thought from her mind as she took copious amounts of Robert's shampoo and scrubbed her body. She brushed her teeth and got dressed before making her way out to the room where Robert had just finished changing the sheets.
The popcorn bowl was in the sink and the trash gathered, the TV had been turned off and Beef was munching away at his dinner in the kitchen. Robert looked over at her as she exited and smiled at her, making her heart skip a beat.
The two of them climbed into bed and Robert turned off the lamp, Courtney curling up to him as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
After a moment of silence Courtney spoke up "Can I really have a drawer here?" she asked.
Robert smiled "Yes, you can." he said, glancing at her.
"...Do relationships normally move this fast?"
"Depends. We've been dating for a month and some change but...we've been through a lot, wouldn't you say?"
Courtney nodded, letting another few moments of silence pass "Can we...do something like this every Friday?" she asked.
At that Robert sat up a bit and looked at her, confused "You...wanna plan when we fuck?" he asked.
Courtney rolled her eyes and slapped him on the chest, both of them laughing. "No, dumbass. Can we do a...date thing? How it ends kinda...depends on the moment." she felt awkward asking this. Was this normal? She didn't know what normal was.
Robert thought for a moment before nodding, laying back down. "Alright, sure. Friday date night sounds good."
Courtney smiled and curled up into him "I'll hold you to that." she said.
"Good, you should. Good night Courtney."
Courtney mumbled something that she assumed sounded like a goodnight, but was too tired to tell. She drifted off.
Maybe she could get used to this.
