sign on the dotted line

Summary:

Jeans sits up on her bed in the dead of night. A damp, nervous, sweat glistens over her body. With an uncanny ability to detect when one of her Knights, or perhaps even, the Grand-master himself, was about to do something reckless and impulsive, she calms herself down and falls back asleep soon after.

Thousands of miles away, Varka wobbles in his two gigantic boots as he stands at a wine stained alter with a fae man he met months prior.

Work Text:

The moon is full, lighting up the steel streets of Nasha town like a spotlight. The soft orange glow of the street lights fueled by kuuvahki flickers and casts shadows on all of the passing citizens of Nod Krai. Traveling merchants, sailors, and townspeople filtered down the ragged metal roads. Drunk laughter, directionless tourists confused by the layout of the town, and tired workers move through the walkways like blood through veins.

The Flagship’s front door swings open and two figures emerge, draped over each other for support as they stumble drunkenly onto the street.

The Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius wraps his large arm around the fae’s shoulders, turning him into a makeshift crutch. A new wine had gotten delivered to the Flagship, and they took it upon themselves to test it extensively. After a few hours, and three bottles, the two had decided to go onto a nice, breezy walk through town to clear their heads and find a quiet spot to enjoy each other's company.

Flins couldn't remember the last time he'd been this drunk. His eyelids are heavy and every footstep was a struggle. He thanks the Archons that Varka was strong enough to pull him along with the arm wrapped around his back.

Every night he got to spend with the Knight is bittersweet, marred by knowledge that someday, perhaps soon, he may have to leave to go back to Mondstadt. He wraps his arm around Varka’s back firmly and comfortably, pressed into his warm body as they walk.

Usually they kept their public adoration confined to the tavern so they both couldn't help but notice the whispers and gossip that started up from the Nasha Town residents as they passed by. They'd hardly seen Flins in town before this, now here he is, stuck to the Knight like a burr.

They wander through the streets, stumbling higher on the metal walkways so they can admire the stars together in peace, away from prying eyes.

A private balcony allows them that peace. Away from the main road and tucked away around a corner. They stood side-by-side against the railing and watched the dazzling, star-lit sky. Clouds were starting to move in over the horizon, threatening to cover up the view.

Varka rubs at his red cheeks with a sigh, causing Flins to glance up at him with a questioning look. The drunken, red-faced fae, lit by moonlight, made the Knight breathless for a moment.

Instead of answering the inquisitive look, Varka leans down and captures the Flins’ lips on his own. He has such surprisingly soft lips compared to Varka’s, which sometimes bleed from how chapped they got. It matched his rugged hands that pulled Flins tighter into his side as they kissed.

They pull apart. Varka coughs, embarrassed, “I think I was a recruit the last time I was this drunk…” He says with a dopey smile on his face.

“It was an exquisite vintage. I haven't had one that delicious in a very long time. Ugh, the sky is spinning.” Flins sighs happily regardless and lays his head on Varka’s shoulder. He squeezes the Knights’ large hand that’s planted on his stomach, holding him close.

“If you can alter your body… why can't you just make your tolerance higher?”

“Where’s the fun in that?” Flins laughs, making Varka’s ears go pink. “I let myself indulge every once in a while. I can't just be…” He waves his hand in a vague gesture, “Proper… all of the time. I'm allowed to… shirk my duties, sometimes.”

“How many reports are you behind on?”

“Shhhh…” Flins lifts his hand and puts a finger up to Varka's lips sloppily, “Shhh. Let me enjoy this beautiful night, with my beautiful knight.”

Varka opens his mouth and playfully bites down on Flins’ finger, trapping it lightly between his teeth and lips and then running his warm tongue over it. Flins hums and nudges Varka in the side with his bony elbow.

“Not here… I'd appreciate not having to walk back to the inn with a tent in my coat.”

Varka whines a bit and lets his finger go free, “I don't want to leave just yet…” He kisses Flins’ temple once and then looks out over the view of the ocean. Some painful thoughts cross blatantly across the Knights’ face, “Don't even wanna think about leavin’ right now…” He grumbles.

Being as observant as he is, Flins reaches up and rubs his thumb against Varka’s cheek, “Let's not talk about that.” He murmurs quietly.

“We're gonna have to… I could have to leave as soon as tomorrow if somethin’ happens…”

“You said you'd come back. And I also seem to remember telling you that I would visit Mondstadt.”

“That's not enough…” Varka whines again, bringing a soft smile up onto Flins’ face.

“Oh, Varka…” He stops when a raindrop hits his cheek. They both look up at the sky as it slowly opens up and raindrops start to patter on the cold metal around them. Before Flins could say another word Varka pulls off his jacket and puts it over the fae’s head.

“...Come on.” Varka sighs forlornly, silently cursing the weather as they run.

They hurry down the slopes of Nasha Town quickly, the rain intensifying around them and making the streets slick and dangerous to navigate.

“Who made this fucking place?” Varka barks in shock when he almost slips for the fourth time, “Metal ramps in a place where it rains? What could go wrong?”

 “Children find it quite fun.”

“They also think sneaking into Hilichurl camps is fun.” Varka tenses and his hand snaps out to grab the railing. Worried about Varka’s hip, Flins guides him down the path and pulls him under an awning for a reprieve from the rain. The shop they stood in front of had soft pink neon lighting in the shape of hearts traveling up the window. Flins barely gave it a glance before turning to face the torrential rains that fell like a heavy blanket before them.

Flins lowers Varka’s coat off of his head but keeps it around his shoulders for warmth. He can't help but admire Varka as he stood in his dripping wet black chest plate.

Flins hums, “You needn’t worry yourself with all those thoughts of leaving. I know you'll come back. I have a plan for that sort of thing.” His yellow eyes pierced up at the Knight, slightly half-lidded from the alcohol still having a deep hold on him.

“...Oh, yeah? Can I know the plan?” Varka smiles at him in a way that makes the fae’s chest flutter.

“I’m going to guilt you. A day before you go I'm going to say such sickeningly sweet nothings into your ear, about how my heart would break if you didn't come back, how morose I’d be. Then we'd have sex until the hour you left.”

Varka laughs, “Oh! That sounds foolproof, actually. Please go easy on me on the guilt thing.”

 “I will not.”

The sky rumbles above them. Varka looks up at the dark clouds as Flins turns his head to look at the window of the ‘shop’ they stand in front of. He reads the window and briefly goes quiet.

 “Hm. Varka…”

 “Yeah?”

Flins didn't say anything, his half-lidded smirk directing the confused blond’s gaze to the window as well.

 They read it together.

When it clicks for Varka what Flins is insinuating, his eyes go wide, then his brow furrows as he thinks deeply. It was strangely adorable with his bright red cheeks from the wine and wobble in his step, but Flins returned his look by leaning up on his tippy-toes and plants a soft kiss on his lips, about to laugh and say ‘just kidding’, but Varka speaks first by milliseconds.

 “We should. Why not?”

The air changes when a suggestion turns into planning. Flins examined Varka’s face with a small, amused smile. He didn't think the Knight would be so spontaneous and willing, but he's elated that he agreed. It was the one thing Flins had never done before. The idea excited him.

Varka continues, “We don't even have to tell anyone…” He murmurs, kissing Flins on the side of his temple, down to his cheek, then on his lips.

Flins smiles, “Our secret, hmm? That is quite exciting. Another reason for you to come back. You're not one to break your oath, are you?”

“No…” Varka laughs and… straightens up, rubbing his hands over his face, “Do I look drunk?”

 “Undoubtedly.”

 “Fuck it. Whatever. Let's go.”

They got married an hour later in a chapel that coincidentally also smelled strongly of wine. It was a surprisingly quick process, even providing them with two cheap looking silver rings until they could replace them later.

The newlywed's didn't have a chance to sober up, and possibly come to their senses, since the officiate insisted on celebrating with more wine immediately after the ceremony. They were honored to drink with the man that married them, even if he did smell strongly of fish and cigarettes.

They left the tiny office chapel and made their way back to the Flagship as soon as they finished, tucking the important certificate papers in Varka’s coat to protect them from the rain.

The door to Varka’s room swings open and hits the wall hard, which makes Varka whisper, “Oh, shit.” He makes a mental note to reimburse the tavern for any dents. It was hard controlling himself when Flins was pressing up against him and pulling him down to kiss as they had walked through the inn’s hallway. They roll across the door to get inside, quickly closing and locking it behind them.

They're a tornado of clothes and limbs as they kiss the whole way to the bed. Flins beats Varka back on the bed, laying naked on his sheets that smell so strongly of the large man.

“It's cold in here, isn't it?” Flins hums, nodding toward the fireplace purely because he knows Varka will do whatever he says.

And he's right. Varka sets the fire in a flurry of movements, surprising the fae with how efficient he was with it, even as drunk as he was.

“My. I can light fires with fae magic yet I think you'd still out-speed me.” Flins rolls onto his back on the bed, his knees knocked together and lit by the rain-splattered window and fireplace.

“Practice. Wildlife training in the Knights.” Varka kicks off his heavy boots and launches himself over the bed and over Flins, caging him in with his huge, hairy body.

Their mouths met instantly in a frenzy of kisses that got deeper as they went on. Flins technically didn't even need to breathe, yet he still felt breathless and dizzy from how passionate Varka kissed him. It was so possessive and needy, pulling back for air at the exact perfect moments to catch his breath, but still peppering kisses and hickies over Flins’ jaw and neck.

Flins pushes up as they kiss and rolls Varka over so he can admire the red, sweaty face of his husband while sitting on his waist, his whole naked glory lit only by the fireplace nearby.

“Forever is a very long time for a fae, Varka.” Flins references their vows as he runs his hand up the blond’s abs and smiles, “I hope you don't mind if I drag you across the next few centuries with me.”

“Drag me wherever you want, Kyryll. And if you get too tired to drag me, I'll crawl.” Varka’s romantic prose was a little sloppy with his slurred drunken speech, but Flins is touched either way.

Flins sits back up straighter, strands of his beautiful hair slip over his shoulder and cling to his sweaty body, “Good answer.” He murmurs as he leans down to drag his tongue across the Knights’ hard cock. He tucks hair behind his pointed fae ear, no longer feeling as though he needs to hide it when he's with Varka in private.

Varka never misses an opportunity to watch Flins suck him off. He eagerly grabs the pillows and shoves them under his shoulders and head so he can watch easier. Suddenly his hips jump, he smears his wet tip against Flins’ cheek, who looks up at him questioningly.

“Sorry! I saw… the ring on your hand and you're…” He mimics a jerk off motion, “...It’s just really workin’ me up seeing you jerk me off with that…” He gestures to Flins’ hand, where his temporary silver ring sat on his finger, which is snugly wrapped around Varka’s cock.

Flins idly strokes him while he talks, “Oh, I see. What will we do about the rings…?” He muses, ignoring the writhing that the Knight is doing under his touch.

“I--uh… Blacksmiths. Your favorite gem. I'll pay for it.” Varka struggles, trying not to jerk his hips up into Flins’ hand.

“Very succinct. A good idea, as well. Here's your gift for such a good idea.” Flins lowers his mouth down and swirls his tongue around the tip of Varka’s cock before enveloping his mouth down half of his length, causing Varka’s knees to snap up as he groans.

The fae dips his head low and holds it, getting the thick length to brush the back of his throat. Varka’s gotten very good blowjobs before, but whenever Flins’ throat wrapped around him, it was an entirely different experience. It doesn't matter how far Varka pushes his hips against Flins’ mouth, he never falters. Deep-throating him and even looking up at him to see his face, relishing in how unraveled the knight gets. He moves his head up and down, enjoying every muscle that flexes or jumps with every suck.

“Up,” Varka breathes out suddenly, inwardly knowing that if he orgasms now the wine coursing through him would likely give him a case of whiskey-dick, something he wouldn't stand for on his wedding night.

Flins follows his gestures and crawls up Varka, amused by the large man pulling him up as if he weighs nothing and positions his hips in front of Varka’s mouth, knees on the pillows on either side of the Knights' head. He runs his pale, bony fingers through Varka’s hair and smiles when he feels two large hands sliding up his thighs and grab onto his ass.

Flins shudders when Varka wraps his mouth around his cock and sucks it deep. He uses his hands on the fae’s ass to move his hips back and forth, encouraging the man, his husband, to fuck his mouth.

As a man of many talents, Varka manages to reach, without looking over, to his bedside table. He opens the drawer, grabs lube, pops it open with his thumb, and spills it onto his fingers and palm with one hand before tossing it down the bed.

“Was that in your wildlife training, too?” Flins laughs, which sharply turns into a groan as Varka starts to chuckle, the vibrations wrapping around Flins’ cock like a vice, “Fuck, Varka…”

Flins’ eyes widen when he feels Varka’s slippery hand travel over his ass and rub over his hole. His thighs shake as Varka slips his thick finger inside of him, humming happily around Flins’ cock. He works his finger in and out before adding a second one almost immediately. His strong grip didn't falter once, fingering Flins at the same pace he sucks his cock in.

Flins whimpers and grabs at the metal headboard of the bed hard. He tries to muffle his moans with his arm, biting down on it, but that obviously displeases Varka as he pushes down until his sharp nose brushes against Flins’ neatly groomed pubes. His fingers quicken their pace inside of the fae noisily, then start to curl as he thrusts him inside, searching…

Flins slaps his hand against the headboard and strangles out a deep groan, “Varka!” His whole body shivers as Varka’s thick fingers prod at a sensitive bundle of nerves inside of him. He becomes completely undone, even a drop of drool traveling down his chin as he clings to the metal in front of him.

Blue flames erupting from Flins when they fuck was normal, Varka had been used to it at this point after being startled the first few times it happened. After a few moments, Varka realizes that this light was different. Not an unorganized spray of flame, but contained up on Flins’ back, fluttering almost like wings. Given his low position, he couldn't clearly see them, but he didn't dare stop his movements to investigate.

Flins chokes out a moan and shakes his head, his legs shaking and hips jumping uncontrollably, “P-Please, Varka… Now, please…!” He pleads.

Varka shows his strength by lifting them up purely with his core, keeping Flins in his mouth as he sits up. He pulls his mouth off to bite down on Flins’ thigh, then drops Flins onto his back on the end of the bed, his hair draping off the side and around his shoulders. Flins’ bright fae wings flutter against the sheets as he shudders under Varka’s weight.

Varka moves up over top of Flins and kisses him deep while he slicks his lubed up hand over his own cock and lines it up.

“The wings are cute, Kryrll. Learnin’ new things about my husband every day, huh?” He pants with a furrowed brow and smirk.

“Like how impatient he is when he's ready to fuck?” There’s a sheepish look on the fae’s face, and it occurs to Varka that perhaps he's embarrassed that his wings were brought out from pure pleasure alone.

“No, I know that already.” Varka presses the tip in and holds Flins’ waist so he doesn't get pushed down the bed, “I just like to see you squirm.” He breathes.

Flins arches on the bed and grabs desperately at the blankets, always so overwhelmed with how

far Varka pushed his body to stretch around him. His unbelievable cock angled up, pressing against Flins’ prostate as if it had been especially created just to be there.

Varka is slower than usual, rocking his hips forward and back casually, his hand plants into the bed around a sea of Flins’ silky hair. He admires the writhing fae below him, trapping his slim cock between their bodies as Varka rolls into him.

It's at this moment that Flins decides to make Varka immortal. It would happen slowly, over time, with ingredients he'd need to gather to do such a spell, but he knows it'll be a good surprise for Varka when he returns from his future trip to Mondstadt.

“You feel so fucking good…” Varka groans, voice fluttering, “So perfect…” He leans down to capture Flins’ lips in a wet, needy kiss.

Flins’ arms wrap loosely around Varka’s neck, keeping him close even when they break the kiss apart. Their wet lips brush and breathe against each other with each of Varka’s thrusts. Flins’ wings flutter rapidly as he moans.

A small murmured whisper makes Varka slow down and pant, “W-what'd you say?” Not wanting to miss a vital order from his sweaty fae below him.

“I said… ‘Don’t regret this tomorrow.’” Flins cups Varka’s jaw as the Knight suddenly lurches down to kiss him deeply. His hips move quicker into the fae, then he breaks the kiss and looks down at him with a serious furrow on his brow.

“I won't…” He pants hard, “Never. I love you, Kryrll.”

They've done certain things out of order, clearly, but Flins couldn't be happier.

“O-Oh. I love you deeply, Varka…” Flins suddenly gasps when Varka lifts his slim legs up high, the flexible fae folded in half as the larger man pounds mercilessly down into him. His fingernails scramble to scratch up Varka’s back during the brutal pace, and he had no hope in hell stifling his moans.

The rivers of wine coursing through the bodies started to work against them. Varka’s thrusts get sloppier and more urgent. His pants needily against Flins’ cheek, who turns his head and kisses him deeply, then pulls back.

“Inside, Varka…” Flins groaned, feeling the burning hot pleasure rolling up through him, about to burst, “Oh, Archons, Varka…!”

As much as Varka loves Flins’ moans, he remembers that they're still in an inn, not in the privacy of Flins’ lighthouse. He brings their lips together in a messy kiss as they both cum hard together, moaning into each other's mouths desperately as they rut together. Varka pressed in as deeply as he could and filled his twitching new husband.

Flins' orgasm subsides away, leaving him to the blissful afterglow that follows. Varka collapses over him, resting his head on Flins’ shoulder and snoring before Flins can even wrap the blanket over their waists.

He follows Varka soon after, his wings flickering and disappearing when he drifts off to sleep.

Letters being slid under the door around ten in the morning wakes Varka up. They lay diagonally on the foot of the bed, the blankets under them and corners pulled up for any sort of modesty and warmth. Flins doesn't stir as Varka carefully pushes himself up with a tired groan. He rubs at his face and grabs his briefs to slip into to go get the mail from the door.

When he sees the first envelope, his stomach twists. Jean’s elegant writing and official seal stares back at him. He rubs at his morning stubble and considers not opening the letter until later, but knows he can't.

The first few pages are reports and updates about the Knights back home. Klee set this and that on fire, Kaeya’s personal reports from his trip heading to Nod Krai, and new Hilichurl camp sightings… His eyes scan the last page, which was Jean signing off with a personal, ‘They all miss and talk about you’ and her signature.

It wasn't an official request to come back, just a sentimental jab to let him know that his absence is painfully noticeable back home. He remembers prying Klee off his leg when he tried to leave at the Mondstadt gates, crying hard, startling everyone who usually never saw Klee cry at all, let alone blubbering.

Another piece of paper on the floor catches his eye. It pokes out of his jacket that had been thrown on the floor the night prior. He picks it up quickly, worried it's a page that fell from his report. His eyes glance over the words on the page. He rereads it about six times, feet frozen to the floor.

“Are you being sent back?” Flins asks as he rolls over, keeping the blankets wrapped around his shoulders as he sits up on the edge of the bed. His eyes glance to the papers in Varka’s hands with a slightly worried furrow on his brow.

“...Me? What? No.” Varka can barely speak as his mind replays the night before. He turns to speak to Flins, then stops when he sees how messy Flins was. Hair a mess, bite marks and hickies all over his shoulders and down his body. Varka doesn't even remember making some of them, “...Man… it's a good thing you have such a high collar on your coat. I really marked you up.” He sits down on the bed which sinks deep, making Flins tilt to lean comfortably onto his side and look at the papers he's holding.

“I don’t mind, you know that. Is that our wedding certificate?” Flins asks.

 “Yeah… you remember?”

 “I do.”

There's a silence that hangs in the air that makes Flins slowly look from the papers up to Varka’s face, trying to read him. He takes the certificate from him and scans it.

He knew he had to rip the wax off quickly, a quick sting, “Do you regret it?” He asks bluntly.

Varka’s brow goes up and he shakes his head immediately, “No… No, no… Well.” He wraps his arm around the fae’s shoulders, “I regret not… getting to have a celebration with friends. And I would've loved to see you dressed up for it.”

“We can still have one. It's just a piece of paper, after-all. Though, you are now my legal spouse in Nod Krai. We can expect Nefer to already know.”

“She probably knew before we did.” Varka mumbles and squeezes his arm tighter around Flins, “...We sorta need to have another wedding. I have a lot of people back home who would skin me alive if they found out I got married without telling them.” He shivers thinking about the future, ‘You’ve been gone months and already got married? Here's a list of people who cried when I told them:’ guilt-trip letter from Kaeya.

“We'll have a wedding celebration in Mondstadt. Some people go on vacation after that and I’m more than interested in traveling with you.” Flins hums as he plans their future trip in his head already.

“Wherever you want. I've never had a vacation before.” He scratches his stubbly cheek and yawns.

Flins stands up and extends his hand, which Varka takes without hesitation, leaving his report on the bed. Flins gestures to the bathroom door.

“We are both in need of a hot shower. We have plans today, so it makes sense that we should shower together to save on time and have breakfast together after.”

Varka is extremely used to the Knights setting his schedule for him, so he just nodded along with a confused look on his face, “We have plans?”

“Ring shopping. When we were walking back you were very insistent on buying us new rings worth millions of mora, or something in that range.”

“...Oh, yeah. I did say that.” Getting married and requesting large amounts of mora from his personal accounts… Jean is going to think he's lost his mind.

When they leave an hour later, they both almost trip over a wine bottle that had been placed at Varka’s door with an emerald green bow taped to it.

 ‘Congratulations’ - Nefer.

 Varka groans. Flins laughs.
