“There you are! Slacking off, no doubt.” King Halo pouted, approaching her sleeping friend and tapping her with her foot.
“Mmmnn… Wha- Oh, hey.” Seiun Sky yawned, sitting up and looking over at the brunette.
King sighed deeply. “Don’t you “Oh, hey,” me! Have you been here the whole time!? We were supposed to practice together!”
“Aww, were you looking forward to spending time with me?” Sky wore quite the grin on her face as she rose to feet, putting her hands behind her head. “I was just relaxing for a few minutes, don’t worry about it. Or was it hours? Same thing.”
“You are the most flaky girl I have ever met!” King hissed, clearly over this nonsense. “I’m done! I can find other umas to train with. You’ve tried my patience long enough.”
Sky grabbed her arm. “Whoa, hey. You don’t mean that…”
“Yes, I do. If you don’t even want to try, then why should I keep giving you the time of day?” King said, shaking the girl away and crossing her arms.
“Umm…” Sky scratched her neck. “Because you’re first-rate at being kind and patient?”
“Wha- Well… When you put it like that! Yes, of course I am! Ohohoho!~ The absolute first-rate kindness and patience required to tolerate one such as you is overwhelming!” King chuckled in her usual fashion.
Sky smirked. “Sooo, we’re still training buddies?”
“Yes, we are. Hmm. Why do you care so much though?” King raised an eyebrow. “The way you behave makes it seem as though you have no interest in training, but then you start begging to stay as my training partner the moment I express interest in finding someone else.”
“Hey, begging is a strong word.” Sky pouted.
“Am I wrong though?” King rolled her eyes.
“Nope! I don’t really have an answer to your question though. Yeah, I’d rather take a nap than train, but I like what we have! I don’t want to lose that.” Sky winked, playfully sticking her tongue out.
King gasped, blushing slightly at her response. “W-Well! I like what we have too… Ugh! Saying it out loud wounds my pride on so many levels!”
“You’re so cute.” Sky smiled, booping King on the nose.
“W-Will you quit toying with me!?” King pouted, turning her head and closing her eyes.
“But it’s so fuuuun!~” Sky giggled, hugging her friend tight.
King sighed deeply. “You’ve been doing this so often as of late. One would think you’ve become smitten with me! Hah, has my elegance and charm turned you into a suitor?”
“Nah, I’ve been into you since the day we met.” Sky winked.
“There you go again! Will you quit saying these things so carelessly? You’ll give girls the wrong idea!” King averted her gaze so to not reveal her rose red cheeks.
Sky sighed. “I only say it to you, King. But whatever.”
“Stop it!” King shouted. “You say these things so halfheartedly! If you truly find me so appealing, then do something about it!”
Sky raised an eyebrow. “Oh yeah? Is that an invitation?”
“Why yes, it is! So don’t keep me waiting, why don’t you demonstrate exactly how you- M-Mmff!” King felt Sky’s lips touch hers as she gently held her for a moment. They were surprisingly soft, and King could taste a faint mint flavor on them.
“Mm…” Sky held King for a moment, neither girl particularly eager to pull away. They continued to kiss until Sky let go, wearing a smirk on her blushing face while she stared at the flustered King. “Wow, you were really into that.”
“S-Says the one that initiated it!” King squealed, then putting a finger to her lips. “I-I can’t believe you actually did that… You’re so unfair!”
“Unfair? How so? If you ask me, I’m a first-rate kisser!” Sky teased.
“Excuse you!? Wrong! W-Well… You’re actually quite good, but- Hey! Wipe that grin off!” King pouted, pushing at Sky.
Sky kept smiling. “Love you, King.”
“...I love you too, Sky.” King quit shoving Sky around for a moment and rested her face on her shoulder. “I give up, alright? I love you!”
“Score.” Sky said, with a smug look on her face.
“Be serious! This is serious!” King yelled.
“Of course I’m serious. I already told you, didn’t I? I’ve been into you since we met. All this time I’ve been deviously making you fall more and more in love with me until you finally confessed. And now we can run away together! Happy ending, right?” Sky winked, sitting down and stretching her legs.
King sat down with her, giving up on getting any training in at this point. There were more important things happening anyways. “You confessed first, you know.”
“Heh. Okay, yeah, that’s true. But you confessed right after. So I still win.” Sky winked.
“You are impossible…” King sighed. “But… Maybe I do find that endearing.”
“Has anyone told you that you have really questionable taste in women?” Sky chuckled, wrapping an arm around King while they laid down in the grass together.
King simply shook her head. “No, I believe my taste in women is first-rate, just like the rest of me. You’re far too carefree for your own good, but it’s part of what makes you special. I wouldn’t want you to change… Even your more irritating qualities have value, alright?”
“If you say so. Heh, maybe we can skip practice every day then? We can take tons of naps together, catch a bunch of fish, and… You know. Other things.” Sky blushed, puckering her lips.
“Absolutely not! You better believe we’ll be having quite the training session tomorrow. But I suppose this one nap will be fine…” King cuddled close to Sky, rest her head on her chest while Sky lovingly stroked her long, beautiful hair.
“I’m such a good influence on my girlfriend.” Sky smiled, closing her eyes.
“G-Girlfriend!? When exactly did we establish that? All we did was kiss! A-And confess our feelings… Oh! Does that make us girlfriends..? We’re girlfriends, then. I… have a girlfriend.” King blushed furiously, looking over to Sky.
“Zzzz… mmmn… zzzzzz…” Sky snored quietly, already having drifted off.
King sighed deeply. “What am I going to do with you..? You’re such a mess. ...But you’re the mess I fell in love with. And I’m glad I could finally admit that.” she continued to snuggle with her partner before falling asleep herself.
The two would later get quite the scolding from Air Groove for sleeping outside at night, but neither seemed to regret it one bit. Every good training session deserves a good nap, after all! Even a first-rate uma needs her rest. ...And the comfort of her girlfriend, of course!~
