Work Text:
“Okay. Unlike last year, and that ridiculous draw, we are going to win.” declared Tommy.
Määnin lent back against the garage wall and took another drag of his cigarette.
“T, you need to chill the fuck out. We'll flatten them. Plus we get booze either way afterwards so who cares anyway.”
Tommy, who had started pacing back and forth, turned and pointed at him.
“This type of attitude is how we end up losing. I am not letting those snot nose comedians beat us. I refuse to let those assholes think they are better than us because they went to Eurovision.”
Freppa, who was building their missiles, looked up, and grabbed Tommy’s arm, stopping him in his tracks.
“Tommy, surely that's a bit much, I mean I saw you this morning with-”
“What I was up to this morning is of no relevance to the annual Vörjeans versus KAJ snowball war.”
Freppa looked up at Määnin, who raised his sunglasses and raised an eyebrow at Freppa who just shrugged in return. Tommy had always been passionate about Vörjeans winning the annual war, but since everything had happened, he was more invested in winning than ever, determined to prove Vörjeans were superior.
“If you two could stop making faces and start helping making more missiles that would be fucking great. We only have 10 minutes.”
Tommy then turned back to snow, frantically scooping and making snowballs like his life depended on it.
—-----------------------------------------
On the other side of the field that bordered Freppa’s family land, Axel paced in front of Jakob and Kevin who were standing at attention. All three had wore serious expressions and were wrapped up against the cold.
“We will not lose.”
“Sir, no, Sir”
“We will be perfect.”
“Sir, yes, Sir.”
“We will make them regret ever challenging us.”
“Sir, yes, Sir.”
Axel turned to them. “Excellent job, boys. No way we are losing this, and we certainly won't be content with a tie.”
Jakob stepped forward, his fist slapping into his other hand.
“Those fucking denim clad losers won't know what's hit them. They must be destroyed. The morons won't know what hit them.”
Kevin grabbed his shoulder and looked at him with concern.
“Woah, slow your roll, Jakob. That feels slightly harsh.”
“Nothing is too harsh for Tommy and his band of idiots.”
Axel looked at him closely, eyes narrowed behind his glasses. He stepped closer and peered into Jakob's eyes before letting out a huff and stepping backwards.
“You made a side bet, didn't you?”
“What, no, you told me not to, just in case it was a draw again.”
“Jakob, please. You're almost as easy to read as Tommy…. And he's an open book.”
“Axel’s right, Jakob…. So what's the side bet?”
“If we win, Tommy has to sing a KAJ song at their next gig and then say something nice about KAJ.”
Kevin stepped closer and folded his arms across his chest. “And if we lose?”
“It's fine, Kevin. We won't lose!”
Jakob then looked down and started to count snowballs, avoiding eye contact with all the skill of a lying toddler.
Axel placed a finger under his chin and tilted his head up again, forcing Jakob to look in his eyes.
“Uh, uh, uh. Stop avoiding the question, Jakob. What the hell did you promise him if we lose?”
“I, uh… I said he could take over our Instagram for the whole day and that I would specifically be in a story where I said Vörjeans are better than us.”
Axel looked confused.
“Is that it?”
Jakob tried to look away but Axel tightened his grip and stared into his eyes.
“Well….. um, I, uh, I might have bragged about us being tougher and he said if we win we all have to go cow riding to prove it.”
Kevin's jaw dropped open in sync with Axel’s before an angry growl burst from Kevin’s throat. Kevin was well known for his hatred of cows, so understandably he was not impressed with the second part of the bet.
“Jakob, if it wouldn't put us at a disadvantage I might actually be tempted to murder you.”
A shrill whistle sounded and Axel stepped back with a frustrated sigh. Jakob tried not to grin, but Axel could see the twinkle of relief in his eyes. Kevin rolled his eyes and stepped forward, until he was standing side by side with Jakob.
“You might have been saved by the bell, Jakob, but you best believe we are talking about this later.”
“Okay, okay. Sorry. I got carried away. I lose my ability to think when he-”
Axel rushed to cut him off. “Okay, and that's enough of that. I have no doubt we will end up with a demonstration later anyway.”
“Mmm. I hope so.”
Jakob got a dreamy look on his face and Axel shoved him so he would focus again. Jakob blushed, but the thought of a repeat of earlier was enough to keep him grinning, even as Kevin and Axel locked eyes and shook their heads in sync.
“Jakob, can you please focus?”
“Okay, okay. But Axel, I've seen you and Tommy, you have to admit-”
“I have to admit nothing. Kevin, on the other hand, needs to get going.”
Jakob snapped to focus and grabbed the hands of the other two men.
“Right. We know the plan. We can do this. And Kev, don't forget the first move.”
Kevin huffed but then smiled indulgently.
“Yes, Jakob. I know. I'll feel like a dick but if it helps us win, I'll do it. I just need to think of a way to apologise later.”
Kevin squeezed Jakob's hand and quickly grabbed Axel's hand and squeezed it too. Jakob cleared his throat and smiled brightly, like he was announcing winning lottery numbers rather than threatening three grown men.
“Let's show these denim-clad losers who's the better band.”
Axel squeezed Jakob's hand and then turned their small circle into a quick hug.
“We got this. Now let's rock their denim jackets off.”
Kevin squeezed one last time then slipped from their arms and began heading towards the prearranged tree stump.
—-----------------------------------------
Freppa walked up to the agreed meeting point and only had a few seconds of silence before he could hear the sound of trudging feet making their way through the trees. Neither team had officially revealed who would come to the starting point, but Tommy had overheard Axel and Kevin discussing it which instantly meant Freppa was being forced to go.
Tommy had stated that he was too important to risk straight away, especially if Axel and Kevin had somehow known Tommy had listened in and had been lying. Then he had declared that if they hadn't been lying, that Määnin would get distracted and ruin the war before it even began which meant Freppa had no choice but to go.
He bounced on his toes as he watched Kevin appear through the trees before he came to a stop on the other side of the tree stump, hands firmly shoved in his pockets. Freppa offered him a small smile before going back to the most neutral face he could manage.
“It's so fucking cold. Why the hell did we pick today to do this?”
“Hello to you too Kevin. How are you?”
“Sorry, Freps, that was rude. How are you?”
“I mean, as you said it is freezing cold so I've been better, but anything to make Tommy smile. Although I'm slightly worried by how competitive he's being.”
“Ah, that I can explain. He talked Jakob into making a side bet.”
“Oh. Well that explains the violent muttering.”
“Yeah, I've no idea what the hell got them so riled up, but Jakob is determined to win.”
Freppa nodded then stepped back, aware that Kevin seemed to be sneaking closer. His hands had also remained in his pocket and Freppa couldn't help but wonder if Kevin had come up with the same plan that Määnin had suggested at their planning meeting earlier in the week.
“Are you ready?”
Kevin nodded and they both stepped backwards 10 paces. As one they both bent to the ground and made one snowball each before standing back up facing each other. Kevin smiled at him before yelling across the gap.
“On three, we can toss at the stump, then blow the whistle to tell them we have started before we head our separate ways.”
“Okay. One… two… three.”
Both men launched their snowball at the tree stump in between them, and Freppa quickly grabbed the whistle around his neck. He blew into it, the shrill sound invading the peaceful quiet of the snow. He stood silently for a second before Kevin's voice brought him back to focus.
“I guess that's it then.”
“Indeed. Good luck, Kevin.”
Freppa turned as if he was going to walk away, took 5 steps and spun on his heel, already tossing the snowball he had hidden in his pocket. Unfortunately he had been correct about Kevin having the exact same plan. Their snowballs smacked into each other in mid-air and both men stared for a second before bursting out laughing. Their laughter echoed around the clearing before Kevin called over to him.
“Well, they do say great minds think alike.”
“I have to give you credit for an excellent idea. I just wish we both hadn't thought of it. Anyway, we should get going. Good luck Kevin.”
Kevin waved and spun on his heel, heading back into the trees. Freppa watched him go for a moment before he set off to meet Määnin at their agreed spot.
—-----------------------------------------
Kevin snuck through the trees as quietly as possible, heading towards his meeting point with Axel. Jakob had declared he had his own personal plan, so Kevin and Axel had agreed to team up at first before splitting off once the fight picked up.
As he reached their agreed meeting point there was no sign of Axel, so he ducked behind a tree and waited until he heard the familiar huff of an unimpressed Axel, the crunch of his steps breaking the silence.
“Kev, where are you?”
Kevin stuck his head out from behind the tree to find Axel standing with his hands on his hips.
“Oh, hey Kevin, there you are. I have to wonder - why the hell did we pick today to do this? It's so fucking cold.”
“I said the exact same thing to Freppa.”
He held his arms out and Axel dove into them, a quiet sigh of relief escaping his lips as he felt Kevin’s body heat. Kevin pulled him close, determined to warm the both of them with shared body heat. He pressed a gentle kiss to the top of Axel’s hat before speaking quietly in case there was a Vörjean nearby.
“Next year we absolutely do not let the two maniacs pick the day, no matter what tricks they pull out to convince us.”
Axel's voice was muffled as he spoke into Kevin's coat, but Kevin still got the point and nodded.
“Yeah. I know they were rather convincing yesterday but it's way too…. Wait. Do you hear that?”
Axel raised his head from where it had been buried against Kevin's chest and listened for a minute before cursing under his breath.
“Shit. Someone's coming… and it's not going to be Jakob given his insane plan. We gotta move.”
Kevin grabbed Axel's hand and dragged him behind the tree he had hidden behind moments before. It was probably a good idea to check who was about to appear before they were too rash.
As the footsteps got closer, they both peered around the tree and let out matching curses as they spotted who was approaching. Axel looked like he was doing rapid maths in his head and Kevin forced himself to not get distracted by the wrinkle of concentration on his forehead and how he could kiss it away if Axel would let him. But he knew Axel would just grumble that Kevin was ruining their chance at winning. He was, after all, almost as competitive as Jakob.
“Shit, it's Tommy. Okay, quick plan, you stay here, I'll go to that tree, and if he notices anything we attack instantly. Otherwise we wait until he's almost walked away and attack from behind.”
Kevin nodded and watched as Axel sprinted across the snow, freezing in place as Tommy got close enough to hear them breathing.
At first it seemed like Tommy would keep moving and that they would simply have to throw a snowball or two at him from behind, but then he shuffled to a halt and stared at the ground. Kevin looked over at Axel, whose eyes were widening as he watched Tommy stare at the ground and mutter to himself, before he stared suspiciously at the trees, eyes narrowing with each frozen breath.
“You might as well come out. I know someone's hiding there. I know it's not Määnin cos he has his usual cowboy boots on. I don't think it's Freppa, he would have joined me by now. Jakob wouldn't be patient enough to stand there in silence so that leaves two possible culprits. So which one of you is hiding here?”
Kevin looked over at Axel who had begun making a small pile of snowballs, then back around the tree at Tommy who was staring at footprints in the snow like they would tell him the secrets of the universe. Suddenly his head shot up, a terrifying grin on his face.
“Oh. It's not one of you at all is it? You two should have been smart enough to know your footsteps would give you away.”
Kevin bent down and quickly made a few snowballs before turning to Axel who was grinning and holding his fingers up in a countdown. As Axel's fingers reached one and Kevin got ready to move, Tommy raised his voice and spoke, as if he knew the countdown was happening.
“Oh, don't be cowards, come on out and fight me like men.”
As one, Kevin and Axel shifted around their respective trees and launched twin missiles at an unprepared Tommy. He took one snowball to the chest and then one to the face in quick succession, leaving him spluttering and spitting snow to the ground as Kevin and Axel fell about laughing.
“Oh you absolute fuckers. I promise you'll regret that.”
In response Kevin tossed another snowball that Tommy managed to avoid by ducking towards the ground. Unfortunately as he avoided Kevin’s missile, he managed to dive straight into the path of Axel’s second snowball.
“Urgh, fuck. You bastards.”
Tommy ducked forward and grabbed a handful of snow, shaping it quickly before tossing it at Axel’s head. Axel ducked behind the tree and his laughter filled the air as he popped out the other side of the tree. Tommy then quickly made another two snowballs and tossed one in the direction of Axel and one towards Kevin. Kevin ducked behind his tree, spotting Axel doing the same out of the corner of his eye.
As they each grabbed a new snowball and peered around their respective trees, they realised Tommy had taken advantage of their momentary distraction and had hidden himself away. The pair turned to each other, and Kevin couldn't help but let out his feelings at the situation.
“Fuck.”
A familiar laugh told them Tommy hadn't gone far before a teasing voice confirmed it.
“I'll give you two credit, this hiding behind a tree thing isn't a half bad idea.”
There was silence for a minute before Axel darted across the gap and back into Kevin's circle of gravity. Kevin automatically opened his arms and let him curl into his chest before bending down and whispering in Axel’s ear.
“Not that I'm not happy to have you back in my arms, gorgeous, but aren't we an easier target if we are in the one spot.”
Axel tilted his head up, his lips moving against Kevin's cheek.
“Normally yes but this way I can tell you my plan without him hearing us.”
Kevin smiled and squeezed Axel tighter, hoping his hug conveyed everything he didn't want to risk saying in case Tommy heard them.
“Here's what I'm thinking. We take two snowballs each and dart out from behind this tree. There's no way Tommy can resist appearing so he will likely dart forward and toss anything he is holding at us quickly. We dodge those then you throw your two snowballs. I then throw my two snowballs as you quickly make two more. As you throw the second set, I make two more and throw them, then we split up and run. We can reunite near the tree Jakob was planning to be at and hopefully use the power of the three of us to win. What do you think?”
“I think we should go for it. I certainly don't have any better ideas.”
The two crouched down, so close that they were touching in some way or another the whole time and made their snowballs. They worked quickly, only crouching for a moment before they stood up. Axel stepped back just enough so he could stare into Kevin's eyes. Kevin let himself stare down into the ocean of Axel’s eyes for a moment, the exact same way Axel was staring up at him before Axel cleared his throat, and offered Kevin an excited grin.
“You ready for this?”
Kevin nodded. “Absolutely. Kiss for good luck?”
Axel nodded, already moving towards Kevin's lips with a smile. They kissed quickly but fiercely, then parted with matching grins.
“Let's go show him who's boss.”
Kevin stepped around one side of the tree as Axel took the other, and they stepped forward. Almost immediately Tommy darted from behind a tree and tossed snowballs towards them, exactly as Axel predicted. The pair dodged the snowballs he threw and then Kevin responded with his two snowballs as they had discussed. He crouched down to make his second round of snowballs as Axel stepped in front of him, throwing snowballs with a terrifying accuracy that made Kevin be immensely grateful to be on his team.
Kevin then stood up and stepped in front of Axel, who quickly crouched down. Tommy was stuck in defensive mode, unable to make extra snowballs, instead forced to dodge each throw from Kevin and Axel. As Axel stood back up, Kevin tossed his final snowball and stepped backwards, feet already turned in the direction he would have to run in a moment. He waited until Axel had tossed his own final snowball before squeezing Axel’s fingers once as Tommy finally began to make more snowballs.
“See you later, Toms. KAJ for the win.”
Kevin watched out of the corner of his eye as Axel sprinted off before moving his own legs leaving Tommy cursing behind them.
He watched his breath in the air as he ran but the smile wasn't disappearing from his face anytime soon. He just needed to keep Tommy off his trail as he doubled back and met up with Axel by taking the long way round.
—-----------------------------------------
After his sprinting, Axel broke through the trees and couldn't help but roll his eyes. He bent down and scooped up two snowballs before throwing them at the two curled up against the tree, so absorbed in each other's lips they didn't notice him until it was too late. Määnin spun, lips swollen from kissing, snow dripping from his hair.
“Oi. Do you mind? We were busy.”
Axel laughed and closed the gap between him and the pair against the tree.
“Mmm. I can see that. Does Tommy know you two aren't playing?”
Freppa blushed prettily and Axel tried not to stare. He could be distracted by Freppa’s stunning cheekbones and red flush later.
Freppa responded in a quiet but still breathless tone. “He may not be aware of our plan to take a little break.”
“Yes, and you better not be telling him. Or I'll make sure you regret it.”
Axel snorted and folded his arms across his chest.
“I hate to ruin your fantasy, Jean, love, but once you get to know you, your threats aren't as scary as you think they are.”
Määnin stepped closer, his hands dropping to Axel’s waist. He looked over Axel’s shoulder and immediately Axel felt Freppa grab Axel's hips and step in behind him, leaving him bracketed by the two men.
Määnin’s hands traced shapes on Axel's sides, just hard enough to be felt through the heavy material of his winter clothes, as he moved closer, breath teasing against Axel’s cheek. Freppa’s hands were ghosting over his sides too, and Axel could feel his resolve crumbling.
“If threats don't work, how do you feel about a bribe or two?”
Määnin moved in closer until his lips were almost touching Axel’s, his breath teasing over Axel’s mouth.
“I, uh, well, I mean-”
Määnin stopped any arguments by pressing their lips together. Axel stayed firm for a moment, refusing to kiss him back, he had to focus on helping Jakob and Kevin win, but then Määnin nipped at his bottom lip and Axel couldn't help but groan into their kiss, letting Määnin take full advantage, his tongue slipping into Axel’s mouth, pulling another groan from deep in his chest. He felt himself cave as his arms landed on Määnin’s shoulders, linking the pair together and pulling him closer.
As he sunk into his kiss with Määnin, he suddenly felt a pair of fingers tugging on his scarf. He shifted to focus on it but Määnin's hand grabbed his hips tighter and his scarf was no longer interesting.
That was until Freppa’s lips were kissing at neck, nibbling and sucking in just the right way to make Axel melt in between the pair. Their four hands were moving together, touching and teasing over Axel’s body in a way that was driving him wild.
Their lips were carrying him away and he was fully content to let them until his foot slipped underneath him, which reminded him exactly where he was and what he was supposed to be doing. He was supposed to be kicking Määnin and Freppa's ass in the snowball war. He certainly wasn't supposed to have Määnin’s tongue in his throat, or Freppa’s hands fondling his ass.
He had to win the snowball war, he could kiss both of them later. Even if Freppa was sucking on that one particular spot that turned his spine to mush. He let himself enjoy it for one more second before steeling himself and shutting down their delicious torture with a firm bite at Määnin’s lip.
He then squirmed out from between their arms and gasped as he found Kevin leaning against a tree with his arms folded across his chest, staring at them with an unamused expression on his face.
“Jakob would kill you, you know. Cavorting with the enemies.”
“Shit, Kevin, I, uh… hi. How long have you been standing there?”
“Long enough to see you got a little distracted, sweetheart. I thought we were supposed to be throwing snowballs at them, not letting them fondle our balls.”
Axel folded his arms across his chest in a defensive manner until Määnin snorted with laughter, and Axel turned on him in a fury.
“This is your fault, Jean-Filip! I bet you started all this, kissing poor Fredrik, then tricking me into kissing you. Stop fucking laughing, Jakob is going kill me.”
“Oh calm down, Ax. It was just a few kisses.”
“A few kisses. Fuck, if it had been Jakob, and not Kevin that caught us, we would have been fucked. He would have body slammed me into the snow, and fuck knows what he would have done to you two. Do you know how seriously he is taking this thing?”
“Yeah, far too seriously, the exact same way Tommy is. I swear those two are cut from the exact same cloth.”
“Yes, exactly! Which means you know Jakob would be furious if he caught me kissing the enemy.”
Määnin stepped closer, crowding into Axel’s space. He spoke softly, the others forced to strain to hear what he said. His hands moved up Axel’s sides until one arm rested on Axel's shoulder, his other hand under Axel’s chin forcing him to make eye contact through the layers of glass that separated them
“Is that really how you think of me, Axel? Your….. enemy.”
“Not normally, but Jakob is scarier than you would think when he's competitive, and I really don't want him pissed off at me, and if he found us, we would-”
Axel trailed off as Määnin’s face moved closer, his words tickling over Axel’s lips and making him shiver but not from the cold.
“Shh, it's okay, sweetheart. You worry too much.”
He closed the gap between them, pressing their lips together with a firmness that made Axel’s knees weak. Määnin’s hands dropped to his waist and held him firmly as he teased his way into Axel’s mouth, moving their tongues together and drawing a quiet moan from Axel.
Axel’s hands found Määnin’s head and he quickly tangled his fingers into his hair, tugging lightly and making Määnin moan into their kiss.
“Mmm, fuck, Ax, baby, do that again.”
Axel obediently tugged again, slightly sharper and Määnin moaned, grinding his hips forward against Axel's crotch. Axel stumbled backwards until he hit a tree trunk, Määnin following, lips not parting for a second as they moved as one.
With the tree holding him up, Axel could do nothing but burn as Määnin’s hips rolled forward, each movement dragging across Axel’s rapidly hardening dick. Axel's grip in Määnin’s hair tightened, the pair moaning into each other's mouth like they weren't outside on public display.
Eventually a need for air forced them apart, but Määnin stayed close, his head dropping onto Axel’s shoulder. The pair stayed silent for a minute before Määnin broke the silence, a smug grin on his face.
“Still annoyed at me, sweetheart?”
Axel huffed and tried to suppress the smile he could feel curling at the edge of his lips.
“I may have gone from fully annoyed to more irritated, but I haven't forgiven you completely yet.”
“Oh, you know you adore me. You can't stay mad at this for long.”
“Careful, Määnin, you'll take up the whole clearing with the size of that ego you're trailing. You'll crush poor Kevin and Freppa.”
Määnin pressed a soft kiss to Axel’s lips before resuming his teasing, still curled in Axel’s arms.
“And yet you wouldn't have me any other way. Talking of Kevin and Freppa though, where did they go, they've been remarkably quiet.”
Axel turned his head to look as Määnin stepped back and spun around to search for their wayward boyfriends. They spotted them at the exact same second, both letting out a shocked but delighted laugh at the sight.
Kevin's back was firmly against a tree, almost identically to the way Axel’s had been moments before. His hands were around Freppa’s waist and Freppa stood in between his legs, hands around Kevin's shoulders as they seemingly tried to devour each other with passionate kisses. Axel was certain he wouldn't even be able to slip a piece of paper in between them, they were so close together.
He turned his head back to find Määnin beaming, a wide smile that Axel knew had only ever been seen by five people. Määnin did have a set reputation in public after all.
His eyes were hidden by his sunglasses, but Axel was almost certain there would be a mischievous twinkle hidden under the dark lenses.
He turned back and stared for a moment at Kevin and Freppa, who were still kissing like it might be the last thing they ever got to do, and then turned back to Määnin, his next question already on his lips. Axel gestured over to the other pair, completely entangled in each other's arms.
“Should we interrupt them?
Määnin shrugged. “I don't know, I'm rather enjoying watching.”
“Mmm, it is rather hot.” agreed Axel
Freppa pulled back, and glared, voice a low growl that carried across the open space perfectly clearly.
“We can hear you, you know. So-”
Määnin interrupted quickly. “Oh, good….. do you take requests?”
“No, now fuck off. You got your turn.” declared Kevin.
Freppa laughed, then turned around and crushed his lips back against Kevin's, making Kevin whine loudly enough that Axel and Määnin could both hear him.
Axel watched as Kevin's hands tugged at Freppa’s scarf, pulling it out the way before he broke their kiss and began kissing his way over the soft skin of Freppa’s neck. Freppa’s hips moved forward almost involuntarily, and Axel watched as he rolled his hips against Kevin's, a desperate need to be in Kevin's spot flooding his veins.
Suddenly Axel jumped, as Määnin grabbed his hand and reeled him in just close enough to talk quietly, without Kevin and Freppa hearing them.
“Do you want to kiss Freppa as much as I want to kiss Kevin?”
Axel nodded frantically. “Absolutely yes. I still need to pay him back for that trick with my neck.”
“I did warn you when this started that looks can be deceiving and to watch out for that mouth of his.”
“It really is wild what he can do with it.”
The pair reminisced silently for a moment, and Axel could feel the ghost of Freppa’s lips all over his body before he shook his head and forced himself to focus.
“Okay. I assume you have a plan.”
“Ax, it's me and there's the possibility of getting kissed. Of course I have a plan.”
Axel rolled his eyes but then squeezed Määnin’s hand so Määnin knew it came from a place of affection. Määnin squeezed back and grinned sharply, then began to explain his plan in a whisper that made Axel shiver.
“So, I suggest that we get as close as possible, I forcibly wiggle in between them but make sure I'm facing Kevin. As soon as Freppa takes a step back to adjust, you grab him and then you get to kiss Freps and I get Kev. Then after we turn our four brains into a collective pile of mush with kisses, we go find the other two so we can have some booze and a nice evening together… if you know what I mean.”
Määnin finished with an overexaggerated wiggle of his eyebrows and Axel couldn't help but laugh.
“Mmm. I think we could convince this lot to have a nice evening together. I can't say that I think your plan will work though, but I'm still willing to give it a try.”
“As always your faith in me is appreciated. Now let's get going. I still haven't kissed Kevin today and I'm impatient.”
“I mean you were the one who slept in, Määns.”
“Yes, I am well aware, Axel, now shut up and let's move, or I'll steal both and you'll have to go find the terror twosome on your own.”
Axel rolled his eyes but followed Määnin anyway, who was moving towards the still kissing pair like a lion stalking a particularly delicious looking bit of prey. Axel stayed to the side, although still close enough to carry out Määnin’s plan, and watched with amusement as Määnin squirmed into the middle of the two men, hands already somehow gripping Kevin's hips possessively. As their kiss was abruptly ended, Freppa stared at the back of Määnin’s head, frustration painting his face as Kevin stared down at Määnin, who was pouting up at him
“I'm sure you two don't mind but I haven't seen Kevin all morning, and Axel is remarkably keen to pay you back for that little stunt earlier, Fredrik.”
“You mean the stunt you started, hmm, Jean-Filip.”
As he spoke, Määnin moved closer to Kevin and Freppa was forced to take a step backwards, and Axel quickly spotted his chance, grabbing Freppa’s arms and pulling him closer.
Axel watched out of the corner of his eye briefly as Määnin stepped so close to Kevin that they looked like one person, before Kevin wrapped his arms around Määnin’s neck and reeled him in for a passionate kiss hello.
Axel then blinked and focused his attention on Freppa who was standing grinning, an amused look written all over his body language.
“I hear you've got plans to pay me back for something, my love.”
Axel smiled and narrowed the gap between himself and Freppa. He interlinked their fingers and smiled brightly at Freppa who beamed back.
“After your neck stunt, you best believe I have plans to pay you back, but first I'm dying to just kiss you.”
Freppa grabbed his hand and dragged him backwards until Freppa’s back rested against a tree. Axel immediately stepped in between his thighs and wrapped his arms around his boyfriend's torso before jumping back in shock.
“What the fuck, why are you so cold?
“Denim is not the warmest thing in the world and there's only so many layers I can put under this to try and retain some heat. But Tommy insisted we look like ourselves.”
“Oh that explains a lot to be honest. He did yell across the hall this morning about my jacket being a sign of how weak we were, and that we would definitely lose because of it.”
“Yeah that tracks. I can barely got away with wearing a scarf and gloves. And I had to tell him I lost a bet to be allowed to wear a proper wool hat. He wanted me to wear my stage cap.”
“Oh you poor baby, no wonder you're so cold.” Axel looked up at him, his most seductive look on his face. “I guess I'll just have to warm you up.”
As Freppa smirked back, Axel wrapped his arms around Freppa’s waist and crushed their lips together, deepening their kiss as Freppa sighed softly. Their tongues tangled together and Axel shivered as Freppa’s hands dropped below Axel’s waist and started grabbing at his ass through his jacket.
Axel couldn't help but moan, his hips moving forward and grinding against Freppa’s crotch in search of more sensation. The pair moved in sync, noises getting louder as they burned hotter. Axel was almost certain the snow around them would have melted from the heat of their touches.
Eventually a lack of air forced the pair apart, but Axel kept his arms wrapped around Freppa, not wanting him to get any colder than he already was. Freppa’s hands wrapped around Axel’s back, hands splayed over his shoulders keeping him close until they were interrupted by a smiling Kevin and Määnin, who were standing next to them holding hands.
Määnin grinned and Axel reached out and grabbed his spare hand, using it to pull Kevin and Määnin closer until they became a jumbled pile of limbs huddled up against a tree. It was silent for a moment, the only sound in the air was their breathing, before Kevin spoke up.
“Given it's absolutely frozen, can we call it a draw and go home.”
A chorus of voices agreed before Axel had a thought.
“We probably should go find the terrible twosome first.”
Kevin sighed. “I can't believe we left them alone for so long. God only knows what they've been up to.”
Määnin laughed as he turned on his heels. “I'm sure they'll be fine . How much trouble can they find in a snow covered field?”
—-----------------------------------------
Tommy stalked through the trees, determined to find and destroy Jakob before Jakob found and destroyed him. He had two snowballs, one in each gloved hand and he was moving slowly, determined to catch before he was caught. As he stepped forward he let out a curse as something hit the top of his head. He made the mistake of looking up and took a snowball to the face for his troubles.
“Haha, that's what you get short ass.”
“Are you seriously up a fucking tree Norrgård? Are you three fucking tree obsessed? Also we are the exact same fucking height, so if I'm a short ass so are you.”
Tommy dodged another two snowballs before throwing his own snowball back. Unfortunately throwing it up into the tree destroyed his aim, and it landed nowhere near the cheat in the tree. He growled and cursed under his breath before blanking his face and staring up at his nemesis.
“Get down here right now, you cheating bastard.”
“Um, I'll have you know my parents were married when they had me. And you should know given your dad was the best man.”
“Okay, fine. Let me rephrase. Get down here right now, you cheating born in wedlock baby.”
Jakob laughed and Tommy clenched his fists to avoid getting distracted. He could enjoy that musical laugh later. Right now it was more important to prove that Vörjeans remained the best. Even with the newest distractions in their lives.
“I mean honestly, having to hide up a tree because you know I would kick your ass on flat ground.” Tommy raised his voice. “It's pathetic. So much for being a tough guy.”
Jakob waved teasingly and Tommy growled.
“Come up here and get me then Mr Tough Guy.”
Tommy rolled his eyes and marched over to the base of the tree. This was probably a terrible idea given he had broken his wrist the last time he climbed a tree, but he wasn't letting a snot nosed comedian, even if said comedian was one of his boyfriends, beat him. Vörjeans had to reign supreme. Plus he was nine the last time he climbed a tree. Surely he would be fine now that he was older.
He stretched up in an attempt to grab the sturdy looking branch above him but he was too short. He could hear that irritating giggle from above, and sighed. Apparently the universe wanted him to do this the more risky way.
Tommy shifted around the base of the tree looking for a foothold but there was nothing that he could use to boost himself at all. He grabbed the closest lower branch but as he suspected it was too weak and snapped instantly in his hand.
Jakob let out a cackle and Tommy bent down and grabbed a fistful of snow, quickly turning it into a snowball and launching it up towards Jakob. This was, thankfully, more successful than his other throws and managed to hit Jakob in the face causing him to yell down towards Tommy.
“Only weak people need to throw snowballs up at me instead of climbing up here to get me. Are you weak, Tommy dearest?”
Tommy ignored him and instead stared at the lowest branches and sighed. Not a single one would hold his weight long enough for him to climb the tree. He would fall and majorly hurt himself. How the fuck had Jakob even gotten up there in the first place. Then a flash of inspiration hit. What if he didn't need to go up the tree? What if he could get Jakob to come down instead?
Tommy moved around the tree, shuffling his foot along the ground to check it was clear of large rocks but kept his head facing upwards making it look like he was looking for a sturdy enough branch to pull himself up on.
Once he had worked out the best place to fake his fall, Tommy stopped his circling and waited for Jakob to taunt him again so he could put his plan into action. Thankfully it didn't take long for Jakob's smug voice to descend from the branch where he was lying like a king surveying his kingdom.
“I can wait here all day so feel free to take as much time as you need.”
Tommy let out an angry growl that he didn't have to try very hard to fake and jumped, grabbing at the weakened branch above. Exactly as expected the branch snapped, and he let himself fall to the ground with a thump.
He instantly screwed his eyes shut and forced himself not to move, despite the cold snow against his exposed neck. Suddenly he was really regretting not letting Freppa help him with his scarf.
“Haha, that was your worst attempt yet. Terrible try.”
Jakob laughed at first, but his tone changed very quickly when Tommy didn’t move or respond.
“Toms, stop kidding about and get up. Toms…. It's not funny. Get up.”
Tommy opened his eyes just enough to be able to see Jakob’s face, but he knew his eyes would still look shut to Jakob who was peering down at him, much paler than he had been moments before.
“Seriously. Thomas, move your ass and open those eyes of yours please.”
Tommy felt slightly guilty with the level of panic that rang from Jakob’s tone, but not guilty enough to move. He watched as Jakob started to scramble backwards down the tree and tried not to laugh at Jakob's monologue.
“I swear to god, Tommy, you better not be dead. If you're dead, I'll resurrect you then kill you myself. Fuck, the others will kill me, then resurrect both of us and then kill me again. Please be okay, Tommy. Fuck. This tree was a terrible idea. I'm so sorry, Toms, please be okay.”
Jakob's feet hit the ground and he instantly dove to Tommy’s side, pulling off his gloves and fumbling for Tommy's neck. Tommy waited until Jakob had bent forward to listen for his breathing, and then grabbed a fistful of snow and shoved it in his face.
Tommy opened his eyes and burst out laughing at Jakob who had shot backwards onto his knees and was spluttering, cheeks scarlet.
“Oh my god, you fucking bastard! I hate you so much. I legitimately thought you had died. God, Tommy, you're such a cunt.”
Tommy kept laughing but did grab Jakob's hand in hopes of starting his apology.
“Guess I didn't have to climb that tree after all.”
“You nearly gave me a heart attack, you asshole.”
Jakob glared at him for a moment as he slipped his gloves back on before he grabbed a fistful of snow and tried to shove it down Tommy’s jeans.
Tommy did his best to fight him off but some snow still ended up down the front of his jeans.
“Oh you fucker, I'll get you back for that.”
Tommy grabbed a handful of snow and dove towards Jakob, who scrambled backwards as he grabbed his own fistful of snow. The two wrestled for a few moments as they attempted to shove snow into each other's clothes. Then Jakob slipped and dropped onto his back so Tommy took advantage, sitting on Jakob's thighs and shoving a handful of snow in his face.
Jakob responded by flipping Tommy onto his back and sprawling on top of him as he shoved snow into Tommy's jacket.
Tommy tried to throw Jakob off of him, squirming under him and shoving at his chest but Jakob was stuck to him like a limpet that was determined not to let go.
He shoved himself up onto his elbows, but Jakob simply swiped his arm out from under him and laughed as Tommy’s back hit the snow with a quiet thud.
“Oh, come on Tommy, you're better than that surely. Or are you really that weak?”
“Says the man who had to hide in a tree and then is pinning me to the ground, what sort of fair fight is that supposed to be? Now move.”
Tommy pushed upwards but as he moved his hips he realised he had effectively just rubbed himself over Jakob's crotch. Jakob let out a soft groan and Tommy flushed scarlet, Jakob's cheeks turning a matching shade of red. The pair froze for a second before a mischievous grin spread across Jakob's face.
Jakob pressed his hips down onto Tommy’s crotch and Tommy was forced to bite his lip to keep himself quiet. They stared silently into each other's eyes as Jakob rocked his hips forward, testing how far Tommy was willing to let him go. With every movement, both of the breaths started to come in shorter and sharper gasps as Jakob ramped up his movements, adding more pressure with each roll of his hips.
Tommy stared into Jakob's eyes, a look of hunger reflected back at him. He raised his hips up and matched Jakob's motions, matching grins appearing on their faces. He moved his hips again, harder this time and Jakob let out a soft, almost silent moan. It felt like a lit match had been dropped into Tommy's veins, and he could take it no longer. He reached up and wrapped his arms around Jakob’s neck, reeling him in close before crushing their lips together.
Jakob kissed him back just as fiercely, the pair battling over who was in charge of their kiss. Tommy nipped at Jakob's bottom lip making him moan into their kiss and grind his hips down harder. Jakob broke their kiss but stayed close, his words tickling over Tommy’s lips.
“Can I take this as your surrender?”
“Absolutely not.” growled Tommy.
He smashed their lips together again and demanded entrance to Jakob’s mouth. His lips parted with a soft gasp, and Tommy was quick to tangle their tongues together, leading Jakob on what could only be compared to a game of chases between their lips.
He then drew back after a nip on Jakob's bottom lip, not content to let Jakob have the last word. He swapped between kissing and teasing, sentences broken up by short but sharp kisses.
“This is just me.” Kiss. “Distracting you.” Kiss. “Until you.” Kiss. “Admit that Vörjeans are.” Kiss. “The best.”
“Never happening, sunshine.”
Jakob laughed and Tommy felt his heart flutter, although he wouldn't have admitted that even if he was on his deathbed. He closed the gap between them again, starting with a softer kiss before Jakob surged forward and turned the heat of their kiss up.
His hips ground down onto Tommy’s, and Tommy made sure to match every movement with his own hips as they kissed. The air surrounding them was filled with the sounds of their kiss, quiet moans, and the occasional whine or two as one managed to touch that perfect spot on the other.
He could feel himself getting hard in his jeans, and had a brief second long thought about how this was possibly the worst place he had ever had a hard on. But then Jakob rolled his hips forward again, directly rubbing his own erection over Tommy’s and it didn't matter anymore.
Tommy knew he was still lying in snow but decided he couldn't care less. Jakob's kisses and his hip movements were far more important than the damp cold at his back. He let Jakob's lips carry him away until he could have been anywhere. His only focus was making Jakob feel as good as he felt.
Unfortunately, a loud chorus of laughter snapped him back to the present. Jakob sprung backwards off of him, and they both turned their heads to find four pairs of eyes staring at them with various degrees of amusement written across their faces.
Kevin was the first to recover, amusement ringing from his voice as the four stepped closer.
“Well. I guess you were right, Jean. Looks like they didn't find much trouble after all.”
Määnin’s gleeful voice rang out. “I don't know, Kevin. They seem to have found quite a bit of trouble.”
Axel joined in with their teasing next. “Määns is right. Only these two would be practically having sex on the ground when they had roped the rest of us into throwing snowballs at each other in freezing temperatures.”
Tommy finally recovered the ability to speak and glared over at them.
“We were not having sex, Axel. I tricked Jakob out of his tree and am waiting for him to surrender.”
All four men standing opposite him raised an eyebrow. Even Jakob looked at him a little incredulously before shaking his head and getting to his feet. He offered a hand to Tommy, who took it and pretended to pull Jakob down to the ground before he adjusted and actually got up. He went to pull away but Jakob kept their fingers interlocked with a small grin.
“Okay if those two were on the ground dry humping harder enough to traumatise any neighbours… does that mean we can declare this done and go the fuck inside?” asked Axel.
A thought of protesting and demanding they continue popped into Tommy's head, but then Jakob squeezed his fingers and Tommy sighed but nodded. Jakob smiled and kissed his cheek.
“Good choice, T.”
Tommy watched for a second as everyone turned and began heading back to the house before sighing and following behind Jakob who was tugging him along with their still interlocked fingers. No matter what any of the others decided he knew this was a victory for Vörjeans, and he would be able to hold this over the heads of Kevin, Axel, and Jakob for the whole year.
—-----------------------------------------
Jakob sat in the middle of the larger of their two couches and curled into Axel’s side. Axel wrapped his arm around his shoulder and Jakob moved even closer, determined to steal every degree of heat he could. They were also wrapped in one of the giant blankets that they had purchased specifically for group cuddles but Jakob was still freezing after his tumble in the snow with Tommy, so he and Axel had a whole one to themselves.
He looked up for a minute to see Kevin on the small armchair, clearly waiting for Määnin to take his usual spot on Kevin's lap, and then his eyes scanned to the other couch to see Tommy wrapped in another of the giant blankets like he was trying to bury himself in the soft material.
The living room door swung open and the last two members of their collective came in both carrying trays that were almost overflowing. He could see steam coming off the one Freppa carried whereas Määnin’s appeared to be filled with a mix of snacks and alcohol. They placed them on the tables, and Määnin immediately grabbed a beer and one of the mugs before settling himself in Kevin's lap. Jakob watched as he handed the mug to Kevin and pressed a soft kiss to Kevin's lips before wrapping a blanket around the two of them and opening his beer. Jakob stared at him for a second before blurting out his question.
“How on earth can you drink beer at a time like this? It's absolutely freezing.”
“Ah but I've got a professional heater in the form of Kevin behind me so I'll be fine. Plus I have a few ideas on how to warm all of us up…. If anyone's interested.”
Freppa rolled his eyes as he handed Axel and Jakob a mug each.
“At least let people drink their hot chocolate before propositioning them, Jean.”
“Where's the fun in that, Fredrik?”
Jakob took a sip of his hot chocolate, and watched as Freppa crossed the room and settled next to Tommy, offering Tommy a mug before taking a sip of his own and then pulling Tommy into his side. Freppa pressed a kiss to Tommy’s head and Tommy seemed to think for a second before unwrapping his blanket just enough to let Freppa get closer before he quickly wrapped the blanket back around the pair of them.
A feeling of contentment bubbled through Jakob's veins. He took another sip of his hot chocolate and turned to look at Axel who was humming a mindless tune under his breath. Axel must have felt Jakob staring because he turned his head and offered him the smile that had made Jakob fall head over heels for him all those years ago.
“Hi.” whispered Jakob.
Axel squeezed Jakob closer. “Hi yourself.”
The two stared at each other for a moment before Axel let out a quiet chuckle.
“You've got some chocolate on your face.”
Jakob frowned and stuck his tongue out, swiping it over his mouth trying to find the remnants of his drink.
“No… the other side…up - no I said up. Never mind Jakob, come here.”
Axel sighed indulgently and Jakob moved his head forward so Axel could help him. Axel’s fingers moved closer to Jakob's face and he expected Axel to wipe the mark with his fingers but instead his fingers grabbed Jakob's chin and held him in place whilst his tongue lightly swiped over Jakob's cheek before Axel nodded and sat back.
“That's better.”
“My hero.”
Jakob then curled back into Axel’s side and sipped his hot chocolate, enjoying the comfortable silence that had taken over the room as they all slowly drank their drinks and warmed up again. However it didn’t last long, Tommy managing to find a second wind.
“Okay so now that we are all settled and a lot warmer; I think we can firmly declare team Vörjeans the winners.”
Jakob snorted and sat forward.
“Absolutely not. You resorted to cheating to make sure team KAJ couldn’t win.”
Tommy folded his arm across his chest. “That’s not cheating. It was clever tactics and you fell for it. Plus I managed to shove more snow into your jacket so we absolutely won.”
“You certainly did not. I managed to pin you to the ground and I definitely shoved more snow in your clothes.”
Kevin burst out laughing and all heads in the room turned to face him.
“You two were literally found on the ground dry humping. I don’t think either of you can declare that you won.”
Jakob couldn’t help but concede that point but Tommy wasn’t willing to go down so easily.
“Thank you for bringing that up, Kevin. Yes, Jakob and I may have been kissing but that was to distract him so I could win. Would any of you four like to explain why you happened to all have flushed faces and swollen lips when you found us? Or where your new hickeys are from?”
Jakob bit his lip to avoid laughing as none of the others were able to look Tommy in the eye. Freppa was suddenly staring out the window, Axel was looking at his phone that somehow appeared from his pocket, Kevin was fixing Määnin’s hair, and Määnin was taking a rather long drink of his beer.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.” Tommy took a quick drink from his mug before continuing. “So… since you four were too busy doing fuck knows what, Jakob and I are the only two who get to determine the winner.”
Määnin then drained his beer and interrupted, just as it looked like Tommy was going to go into a full blown rant.
“Honestly, who the fuck cares who won. Let’s call it a draw and move on. As I’m sure Axel can confirm, I have some plans for a rather nice way to spend the rest of our day… if anyone wants to join me.”
At once five voices broke out into a chorus of agreement.
“Excellent. Finish the hot chocolates and then let’s go upstairs, and I’ll tell you all what I was thinking about.”
Jakob obediently grabbed his hot chocolate and began taking bigger sips. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see all of his boyfriends doing the same. Except for Määnin who was grinning smugly and munching on one of the biscuits he had brought through.
Neither team might have won the snowball war this year but Jakob was fairly sure they were all about to feel like winners anyway and somehow that sounded just as good to him.
