Chapter Text
Snow had been falling since dawn—fat, lazy flakes that piled up on the windowsill and turned the world outside into something quiet and new.
You pressed your forehead to the glass, breath fogging it up as you traced messy little shapes with your finger.
“Snow,” you murmured, voice small.
Dabi glanced over from the couch, blue flames flickering lazily around his fingers as he watched you vibrate with barely contained excitement. You were already regressed—sweater sleeves pulled over your hands, knees tucked up to your chest, eyes wide like the world had just handed you a miracle.
“You wanna go play?” he asked, already knowing the answer.
You spun around so fast you nearly tripped. “Can we? Please,Daddy??? I’ll be super duper good!”
A corner of his mouth twitched. “C’mon, snow angel. Bundle up.”
Outside, everything felt softer.
The crunch of snow under your boots made you giggle. You waddled through drifts that were way too tall, immediately plopping down to make a lopsided snow angel while Dabi watched, arms crossed, pretending he wasn’t smiling.
You threw snow at him—poorly.
He flicked a tiny burst of blue flame near it, melting it midair.
“Hey!” you protested.
He shrugged. “Defense mechanism.”
You built a snowman together—mostly you handing him snow while he did the actual structuring. He let you put the scarf on crooked and didn’t fix it. When you got tired, you leaned against his leg, breath puffing out in little clouds.
That’s when it hit.
You shivered.
Dabi noticed immediately.
“Alright,” he said gently, crouching in front of you. “That’s enough snow heroics.”
Inside, your fingers felt cold even through your mittens. You clung to him the moment the door shut, arms locking around his neck like a koala finding its tree.
“M’cold,” you whispered.
Dabi didn’t hesitate.
He sat down on the couch and pulled you into his lap, one arm firm around your back. The blue flames along his chest softened, controlled, warming instead of burning—like a living space heater set just for you.
You sighed, melting into him.
“There we go,” he murmured, resting his chin on the top of your head. “Gotcha.”
Your cold nose pressed into his neck, hands fisting in his shirt as warmth seeped back into your bones.
Dabi rubbed slow circles between your shoulders, voice low and steady.
“Don’t worry, little one,” he said softly.
“Daddy gonna keep you warm.”
You hummed, eyes fluttering shut, safe and cozy as the snow kept falling outside.
