Notes:

Uhhh, how long has it been since I last posted? Hehe.

Anyways, I'm back! To be honest, this has been sitting in my notes for longer than expected. I struggled with motivation, but I hope it'll come back eventually.

Originally, this was supposed to be a oneshot, but since I couldn't find an ending I liked, I decided to split it into chapters. In this fanfic, I'm fully diving into my headcanons, and I'm ready to feed the HolyGates shippers after such a long time!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: A Warm Welcome

Chapter Text

It was an average day in Heaven. Saint Peter was watching over the door, waiting for new arrivals. He yawned and looked around the pastel sky of Heaven. After a while, he let out a gentle sigh. "Why must being a doorkeeper be so boring?" he complained with a gentle, but slightly whiny tone.

As soon as he saw the portal opening, he put on a big smile, ready to welcome whoever was about to arrive. He grabbed his small mirror, quickly fixed his hair, and checked himself to see if he was presentable enough. After he was sure, he hid the mirror. He cleared his throat, his smile still in place, and said, "Welcome to Heaven!" in a loud and clear voice.

As soon as he hadn’t heard any response, he opened one of his eyes to peek through it. He noticed the person was lying on the ground. He looked down at him nervously but stayed close to the altar. He cleared his throat and repeated himself. "Welcome to Heaven!" His tone was more gentle, but still loud. When he didn’t get any response, he took a deep breath.

He walked closer to the new guy, pinched the bridge of his nose, and took a deep breath in and out. Before he could speak, the guy looked up at him and asked, panic in his voice, "What?! Where am I?" The boy had wavy, shoulder-length blonde hair, amber-gold eyes, and a gap in the top row of his teeth.

Peter looked at him and said, "You're in Heaven." He smiled, standing right in front of him. The guy blinked and asked, "Heaven? What am I doing here?" He raised an eyebrow and looked straight at Peter.

Peter looked genuinely confused. He shrugged, and his smile was a bit nervous. "Uhh... maybe because you're dead?" He didn’t know how else to put it. "You died," he specified.

The guy’s eyes widened, and he moved closer to Peter. "You’ve got to be kidding me?!" He knelt down to the ground, his breathing becoming slightly heavier. "I can't be dead! I was just in a field with my older brother!" His pupils were wide, his vision blurry, and his thoughts racing. "What will happen now?! How did I die!? What will happen to my sheep and goats?!" Peter moved closer to him and said gently, "Hey... calm down." He looked at him.

The guy grabbed Peter by the shoulders and pressed him close to himself. "How am I supposed to be calm!?" He hugged himself, his voice slightly hoarse. "All I knew-" He looked around. "All I had! It’s gone!" He broke down in tears, falling to the ground.

Peter frowned. Now he really had no idea what to do. He sat down next to him and tried to calm him down. "Everything will be okay." He wasn’t convinced himself. He had never seen anyone THIS stressed about being dead. This was a totally new experience for him. He gently put his hand on his shoulder and whispered softly, "We’ll take things slowly." Peter helped him to his feet, patting his shoulder. To his luck, it worked, or at least, it seemed like it.

Peter walked over to his altar and said in a gentle tone, "I am Saint Peter. I watch the door." He pulled out the arrivals book and looked up at the blond guy. "May I have your name?" His smile remained on his face. The guy looked up at him and said, "Abel..." He looked down, not wanting to meet Peter's eyes.

Peter spread his wings, smiling. "Abel?!" He looked him up and down. Suddenly, it all made sense now, the blond hair, amber-golden eyes, tooth gap. Even his chubby figure and the clothes he wore, with his clear golden wings on them. He was wearing pale yellow marching band attire.

Abel immediately turned back into his stressed self and asked, "What? Is something wrong?" Peter smiled and took his hand. "No! Of course not," he said. He flew to him. "We were expecting you."

Abel blinked, raising an eyebrow. "You did?" His frown turned into a confused stare. "Huh... weird," he said gently. Peter smiled and pulled out a pale yellow shako hat with pink bands around the top and bottom. It had an 'A' pink symbol emblazoned on the front and a large white plume on the right side. "A little gift for your welcome," Peter said gently, giving him another glance. "The Speaker of God made this gift for you," Peter shrugged and smiled at him. "And your father helped with it."

Abel’s eyes immediately widened, and a smile appeared on his face. "My dad?" His wings fluttered. "He's here?!" He was excited, very excited. Peter nodded, and Abel immediately took his hands. "When can I see him?!" It was clear that Abel wanted to see at least one familiar face after the shock.

"Why not now?" Peter opened the door for him. He was immediately welcomed by a Seraphim. "Oh, my Lord!" The Seraphim had six white-feathered wings on her back, and she wore a light periwinkle gown. She also had a big smile on her face.

"What?! Who are you?!" Abel asked in a cautious tone.

Emily and Peter looked at each other. "This is Emily, she's one of the highest Seraphim." Emily took Abel's hands and said, "Welcome to Heaven! I can be your guide if you want."

"Uhh... that’d be nice," Abel replied. And just like that, Emily dragged him off, flying away with him. Abel was screaming something at the top of his lungs in a very quick tone. Peter let out a gentle laugh, covering his mouth to muffle it a bit.

Adam appeared behind him, raising an eyebrow. "Who the hell is that pussy?" he asked in a mocking tone. Peter crossed his arms, glaring slightly. "Your son, perhaps?" Adam blinked, turning to him. "Which one?" Peter let out a gentle sigh, his voice a bit tense. "Abel?"

Adam burst into laughter. "Abel!?" He laughed more. "What happened to him?" He turned to face Peter. "Expect him to die, that much is obvious." Peter shrugged. "He hasn't told me yet." He turned to look at Adam and smiled at him. "He was looking for you."

"He was, huh?" Adam smirked. "Did he like the gift?"

Peter simply nodded.

Sera flew to them and said in a low, commanding voice, "Peter! You have the full line by the gates!" Peter immediately spread his wings and flew away. "Sorry! I’m going there right away!" Sera let out a gentle sigh, rubbing the bridge of her nose.

"Chillax, Sera. Adam's boy has arrived, show some happiness," Adam said with a smug smirk.

"Abel's here?" Sera asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, that happy chick of yours is giving him a guided tour," Adam said, turning to glance at her. "Or at least that's what that twink told me."

Sera shot him a glare and said, "Don't disrespect them like that." She moved closer. "You will address them by their names, not some nicknames you made to insult them!"

Adam shrugged. "Nicknames that are pretty accurate, if you ask me," he said with a smug tone. Before he could continue, Sera told him to go train his exorcist army. Obviously, Adam flew away, his expression unreadable.

Sera looked up at the sky and smiled. "May you have a blessed first day in Heaven, Abel." Sera said to herself as she flew toward the Speaker of God. She knew the Speaker of God would be as thrilled as the others by the news.
