Husk of the Hollow

Summary:

After screwing around a bit with Deltarune in order to make the best mod in all of the fandom, the player Adam went a bit too far and ended up supposedly causing Gaster to appear and supernaturally drag the player into the game. Join the Soul as it has ended up becoming its own Darkner through the use of inhabiting an object that was created from the modding that had still existed, and became a part of their world and its story.

Notes:

This is just a sort of prologue so to speak, and the next couple of chapters are going to focus on how the Vessel came to be as a part of the world itself.

Chapter 1: Fumbling the Script

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

*Come on, come on... Why did I have to screw up the code like that?! Ugh... Here’s hoping I didn’t just screw this up to the point where it wasn’t about to break.

A man was struggling with his computer in his workspace. Adam, the supposed Player of their game, had just gotten done with attempting to use inspiration from every Deltarune Mod he could find to try workshopping the best mod to ever exist... That is, until he went to screw with some specific files...

Flashback

*Huh... Okay, I made this mod to where Kris has Free Will, the Vessel is Playable, and so much other stuff happens, and this will be the entire game. Now then... Should I start by coming up with the Name first, or should I do one more thing...?

*...I guess I have another idea, and this’ll probably be the weirdest edit to have to manage. Lets see here... Alter this thing of code here, and... Done!

*Only one way to test it I guess...

He proceeded to playtest his final adjustment of this mod. Only one thing left to test... He went through the Vessel Creation like normal, until it transferred to this new section.

For the moment of truth...

Adam started typing HIS name...

*W... D... GA̴̟̹̰̘̘̽S̸̢̫̬̤̺̖̥͓̟̠̲̘̄͌̓̓̑̓͒̇̔̀̏͜͝❄̷̨̛͎̱́̈́͒̔̈̿̽̀̍̑̚͠͝︎̸̛̳̪̬͉͙͈̟̝͐͂̒͌͛͛̊̂͛̆́͘☜̶̛̖̣̥͇͖̻̱̪︎̷̛̛͙̬̩̳̟͉͔̬͖͚̺͕̿̿̈̇́͋͐͘͝ͅͅ☼̶̼̤̰̯͈̝̻̱̋́̒̓̈́̂̿̿︎̵̢̡̺̣̞̲̰͇̟̼̝̯̞̐ͅ

Suddenly, Adam’s head started to pound immensely, in a sort of strenuous headache. The game proceeded to crash so hard that the PC along with its fans physically caught fire.

End of Flashback

Ugh, why did that have to happen... Thank god the PC and my hard work was salvageable at the very least... Now let’s just turn it back on, and reload the game to try-

Immediately stunned by the words on his home screen, Adam tried to move away, scream, or even just react in some manner... but he couldn’t move his own body.

*(What...? Why... Why can’t I move...?)

Adam attempted everything. He tried getting up on his feet, he tried raising his arm, he tried looking away, running, screaming, SAYING ANYTHING... But nothing happened.

*(LET ME GO! I JUST WANTED TO DO SOMETHING COOL! I’M SORRY! I’LL NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN! PLEA-)

Everything faded to black. You hear nothing, and you can’t think anymore. Gradually, your vision fades to white, and then...

You wake up to a woman, calling for a person named Kris... She seems to be a goat monster, who you happen to know as their mother Toriel- Wait, what? How do you know their name...? Anyways, you see that she opens the curtains to the bedroom, walking back to the center of the room, turning to face the bed.

And then she walks out of the room. Gradually getting up, the sheets are easily thrown off, as you get out of bed to notice some other bed across from the bed you were sleeping in, and a small statue of sorts inside of a rusty birdcage that was placed in a red wagon.

Notes:

Welp, that happened. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my unique method of writing, but before any of you ask, I do not have a regular upload schedule, and will gradually make as much of this work as I can at my own pace. On the bright side, I will try to make this as accurate to the game itself with my own twists, as the rate of which I'll be going at would eventually allow Deltarune Chapters 5, 6, and 7 to release over time.
