Chapter Text
“Don’t go, Nate,” Sophie says, snuggling closer.
“Sorry, did I wake you?” Nate strokes her head affectionately. “I was just going to head down for breakfast, Sophie.”
Nate is an early riser. His usual routine includes digesting the morning paper with his breakfast. After breakfast he returns to the bedroom he shares with Sophie to indulge in what Sophie calls “a lie in.”
Sometimes they cuddle. Sometimes they have sex. Sometimes Sophie is fast asleep until her alarm goes off at nine, and Nate watches her steady breathing, thanking the universe for brining them together. He knows how lucky he is.
Sophie looks up at him, pleading with her dark eyes.
He kisses her forehead. “Are you feeling okay?”
“I think my period’s coming,” she says, and presses her face into his stomach.
“Oh, I’m sorry, Princess,” he rubs her back gently.
“Everything hurts!” she huffs, her voice slightly muffled by his pajama shirt.
Nate combs his fingers through his wife’s silky hair. “Do you want some Paracetamol?”
Sophie nods but doesn’t move.
“You’ve got to let me up if you want me to get your medicine.”
“I don’t want to,” Sophie groans, tightening her grip on him.
“Sophie,” he says sternly.
Sophie huffs and rolls over.
“Good girl,” Nate praises. He kisses her cheek. “I’ll be back in a second. I’m just going to get your pills.”
Nate hops out of bed and hurries to their bathroom to fetch the pain killers.
