Chapter Text
Severus Snape wanted to be recognized for his talent. Once upon a time he was a very poor and young boy, with one of those families , an alcoholic father and a retired mother.
With a very thick CV and years of his life dedicated to the pursuit of every specialization he could put his hands on; he was still unemployed. All thanks to a stain in his perfect curriculum.
Being recognized as a major player in the Knights of Walpurgis & Associates plans to destroy the company he will have an interview with tomorrow was the kind of news that made other companies be wary of a possible bomb in their ranks, the gossips called him a spy sent to destroy the company from the inside. Severus doesn’t mind that is true, at least that was the plan before the deal with CEO Albus Dumbledore.
He was offered protection. Severus never thought himself helpless until working for Lord Voldemort and all the old families of that disgusting place. Exploited to the bone , he didn't even exist as a worker on paper or any legality that could make him pursue more salary, he was denied all employee benefits making his health decline more and more till he snapped. His last work was to enter their current rival company and do the work their last employee could not before disappearing. Get their investors' information and suck all their money, if useful enough they become close associates becoming part of The Knights of Walpurgis.
Albus knew more than he should have, Severus was alone in the room feeling cornered until Regulus entered. Dead, possibly lost Regulus Black. The snake that got away now was called Arttie Potter and part of a witness protection program.
Severus had a new opportunity presented to him and he was still the little boy that wanted more and he knew Voldemort was a sinking ship so he accepted.
No one remembers why Eileen Prince disappeared from the public eye after so many years of perfect record, no one as young ever got so close to being a CEO personal secretary, she climbed the ladder and before she got the highest post she simply vanished. Now everyone gossips about Severus Prince and his young age and oh how he is so very close to being what his mother could not. In truth Severus was wasting away while smiling at the visitors at the entrance and following higher ranks, he was an assistant. A pretty face that offered company and small commentary and so easily dismissed the powerful men should be grateful they didn't get to see Severus deadly glares and whispered insults as he was ushered to get an assortment of drinks. Years of university, enduring lectures, following professors and then Stupid Voldemort false promises for this. Severus refused to be defeated this way, prideful till the end.
He almost bit that Starbucks employee’s head off but he had all different orders of coffee, iced tea and clear coconut water to go.
He was fast walking, maybe if he got back fast enough he could listen something about the new investors, how Lucius was expunged of most charges as an ignorant victim and then bold enough to proposition Albus in this meeting was beyond Severus so whether his old colleague proposal got accepted or straight up refused was definitely something he would not miss out.
