“...As we head into December, let’s take a look at how the weather has been shaping here in DC! We’ll have that sunshine back after kind of a gloomy and very damp day yesterday. We’re getting a break from the moisture, at least for one day…”
「...随着我们进入十二月份，让我们来看看华盛顿特区的天气！在经历了昨日阴沉潮湿的天气后，阳光又回来了。至少在今天，我们得以暂时告别潮湿的天气..」
“Hey buddy!”Hotch从客厅喊道，手上拿着电视遥控器准备关掉电视机，“Are you ready？”
「嘿伙计！」
「你准备好了吗？」
“Aye, aye! Captain!”Jack从自己的房间里快步跑出，抱着自己的小背包，用空着的右手对着Hotch敬了一个礼。听Jessica说他们这一段时间在家里正在看海绵宝宝。
「是的船长！」
他们今天计划要去商场购置一点新的圣诞节用品——也许对于有些美国家庭来说有点晚了，Jack说他的朋友们11月份的时候就开始准备圣诞节装饰了。
Hotch让Jessica今天好好休息，准备节日的事情交给他。另一方面是他不能保证圣诞节那天他能准时到家陪Jack和Jessica，鉴于节日突发事件发生的概率，他觉得如果Reid在身边的话一定给出一个准确的数据。所以带着最坏的打算，Hotch还是想承担起自己的责任，至少和Jack一起准备好圣诞节装饰，如果圣诞节当天能顺利回家是再好不过的——上次他甚至错过了万圣节。
他蹲下来给Jack整理了一下外套和毛线帽，然后帮他把背包背上。Jack今年也七岁了，即使他时常不在他的身边，但是家人的爱意仍让他茁壮成长，不知道什么时候长高了不少。
他们一边聊着关于Jack在学校的事情一边上了车，Hotch帮Jack坐上了后座的儿童座椅后回到了驾驶位启动了汽车。车上电台在十二月初就开始播放Jingle Bells了，Jack在后座即使唱不清楚歌词也跟着一起哼。

在十二月份的Tysons Corner Center已然是一副圣诞城堡的样子，到处都是还未被雪点缀的杉树，巨大的礼物盒布置在各个区域角落，巨大的雪橇则是在整个商场的中心，和蔼可亲的圣诞老人正和一些客人合影，旁边还有正在等待的队伍。
“Daddy can we take a photo with Santa later?”Jack拉了拉Hotch的手。
「爸爸我们之后可以去和圣诞老人拍照吗？」
还没等Hotch回答，一个声音就打断了他：“OH MY GOD! It is BOSSMAN and our angel!!”
「我的天哪是BOSSMAN和我们的小天使！！」
Hotchner们回头就看到Reid和Garcia穿得像圣诞老人的同事一样朝他们走过来。
Jack倒是很高兴，他松开Hotch的手朝他们跑过去。Reid冲Hotch挥了挥手就蹲下来开始和Jack说话，Garcia则是向前走了几步高兴地说：“Are you guys also planning an early Christmas too? Oh, please tell me. Wait, you don’t tell me now, just, just…”
「你们也准备提早过圣诞节吗？哦哦拜托了告诉我，等等等等，你先别告诉我。就，就...」
“Cool down, Garcia.” Hotch笑了笑，“We’re here to do some shopping for Cristmas. You and Reid are planning an early Christmas?"
「冷静点Garcia。」
「我们来这准备圣诞节的东西。你和Reid准备提早过圣诞节吗？」
“The weather has already cooled me down!”
「这个天气已经让我冷——静下来了！」
“Yea, we’re planning to do an early Christmas this year.”Reid拉着Jack靠了过来。
「对啊，今年我们准备一起提早过圣诞节了。」
“Do you know that actually in the crime statistics of America the overall rate of violent crimes actually decreases around Christmas. Generally speaking, the murder rate in winter is lower than that in summer. December is usually not the peak period, but given the frequency of cases we have received in the past five years, this possibility cannot be ruled out either.”
「你知道吗，在美国犯罪统计中总体暴力犯罪率实际上在圣诞节前后不升反降。并且通常来说冬季的谋杀率小于夏季，12月通常不是高峰，但是鉴于我们近五年接到的案件频率也不排除这种可能性。」
Reid语速比平常快了一点，不知道是不是不想让Jack听清内容。因为他的右手还牵着Jack，所以在讲话的时候一直在用左手比划。Garcia则是咬牙切齿地，死死地看着他挥动的左手，在他说完最后一句话之后直接用带手套的手摁住他的手臂然后接过了话茬。
“But! The main reason is Emily just gave us two tickets for A Charlie Brown Christmas! So I suggest that we can have an early Christmas today before the show. And it will be better if we still have our Christmas!”
「但是！其实主要的原因是Emily给了我们两张查理·布朗的圣诞节的舞台剧的票！所以我觉得我们借这个机会，在今天看舞台剧之前可以提早过个圣诞节。如果之后能正常过圣诞节那就更好了！」
“Two Christmas!!”Jack兴奋地说。
「两个圣诞节！」
Hotch挑了下眉，点点头：“Sounds good.”
「听起来不错。」
“Hey, any plans for you and your dad this year?”Reid弯下腰看着Jack问到。
「嘿，你和你爸爸今年有什么计划？」
“We're gonna build our tree! And ME will cook with Aunt Jessica!"Jack自豪地拍了拍自己的胸膛，“Oh, We can shop together!”
「我们要做我们自己的圣诞树！我还会和Jessica阿姨一起做饭！」
「哦！我们可以一起买东西！」
似乎是觉得自己的做法不妥，Jack小心翼翼地看了一眼Hotch：“...Can you and Ms.Garcia?”
「可以吗？」
“Of course!”他们两个异口同声地回答。
「当然可以！」
Reid顺着Jack的视线看去，Hotch一副愧疚的样子。
他的愧疚不仅仅是影响了Reid和Garcia，更是对自己的孩子如此懂事和小心翼翼感到难过。
Reid察觉到之后用安慰的眼神看着他笑了笑，点了点头。
“How about…… we start with that lego store!”Garcia牵起了Jack的另一只手。
「不如......我们从那个乐高店开始！」
Jack顿了顿脚步：“Daddy？”
「爸爸？」
Hotch笑了笑，摸了摸Jack的头：“You can go with Ms.Garcia, Dr.Reid and I will follow up.”
Jack高兴地点了点头，带着Garcia和他们挥了挥手，蹦蹦跳跳地进了乐高店。
“...Do you know that the average height for a 7 year old boy is around 48 inches, which is around 4 ft, with most boys falling between 44 to 52 inches that genetics, nutrition, and sleep all influence growth.”
「...你知道吗，7岁男孩的平均身高约为 48 英寸，约合 4 英尺，大多数男孩的身高在44到52英寸之间。遗传因素，营养状况，以及睡眠都对身高增长有影响。」
Hotch不知道为什么Reid突然开始说这个，他只是习惯性点了点头。
“I estimated that Jack's height is already slightly above the average.”Reid用手比划了一下，“I mean…emm, he have a good family is part of the influence.”
「我目测杰克的身高已经略高于平均水平了。我的意思是……嗯，他有一个良好的家庭，这在一定程度上也是造成这种情况的原因之一。」
Garcia不知道什么时候和Reid关系如此好，他们似乎是默契地注意到了Hotch的愧疚然后留下Reid来安慰他。
Hotch叹了一口气，笑了一下：“I believe that genetics also work. Haley is 5’6’’, however, I am 6’2’’.”
「我相信基因也起了作用。虽然Haley只有5尺6，但是我有6尺2。」
“Yea, let’s see the future.”
「让我们以后看看吧。」
他们对视一笑。

商场的扬声器开的声音有点大，即使是在店铺里也能听到外面配合圣诞老人活动的音乐。
Jack进店之后挑了名为LEGO Star Wars 40658 Millennium Falcon Holiday Diorama的场景模型，是一个特别的节日版千年隼小场景，带有圣诞节味道的陈列式玩具，比如桌子上的火鸡和一旁的圣诞树。
Hotch一直跟在他的身边，倒是Reid和Garcia偷偷摸摸地躲在旁边商量一些什么。他们刚买完单，Garcia就和Reid凑了过来。
“Hey, Hotch, emm, do you have any plans tonight?”
「嘿Hotch，呃...你今晚有什么计划吗？」
“Nothing, just dinner with Jack.”
「没有计划，就是回去和Jack一起吃晚餐。」
“So! Reid and I just have another plan, but we really can’t just waste the show tickets, right?”Garcia对Jack眨了眨眼, “We think that maybe you guys can help us out!”
「我和Reid其实有其他计划了，可是演出的票真的不能就这么浪费掉，对吧？」
「我们想，或许你们可以帮我们一下！」
这就是他们偷偷商量的计划？Hotch很感激可是......
“Is this ok?”
「没关系吗？」
Hotch想这两张舞台剧的票大概是Prentiss送给他们的离别礼物之一。
“Totally! We will text about this to Emily!”Garcia看Hotch没有那么坚持很高兴，“That means you guys need to send us some cute photo as evidence!”
「完全没问题！我们会把这个事情发给Emily的！」
「这意味着你们得给我们发一些可爱的照片作为证据！」
“That work.”
「那也行。」
Reid从自己的邮差包里拿出一个信封递给Hotch，并且叮嘱了表演开始的时间是晚上七点。
Jack得知自己可以去看舞台剧之后欢天喜地地跳来跳去，之后也不忘感谢Reid和Garcia，说之后一定会给他们画圣诞节贺卡的。

Reid顿了一下，然后继续说：“I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen it, but it’s pretty quiet, very old fashioned, traditional Christmas.”
「不知道你们有没有看过。总之就是很安静，很传统的那种圣诞故事。」
“Jack and I will enjoy it.” Hotch笑着说，“What are your plans for tonight, given that you’ve changed them?”
「我和Jack会喜欢的。」
「“你们晚上打算做什么？鉴于你们更改了计划。”」
“Garcia and I will watch the television version of A Charlie Brown Christmas, and if there is no case come in we’ll continue our Doctor Who marathon. Do you know about the Christmas Specials of Doctor Who? They refer to standalone special episodes that are broadcast almost every year around Christmas. These episodes don’t always belong directly to a specific season, but they often play an important role in the story, emotional arc, or character development. This tradition gradually became established with the revival of Doctor Who starting in 2005……”

再聊起舞台剧的事情就是工作日了，就如当时Reid所说的，圣诞节前后的暴力犯罪率上升让他们在圣诞节假期之前没有休息的空隙。Hotch庆幸他在十二月初就已经把需要的东西买齐了。
他的办公桌上多了三张照片——一张在商场里他们四个人在离开前和圣诞老人的合照，一张Jack和舞台剧演员的合照，还有一张Jack，Jessica，和他在装饰好的圣诞树前的合照。
午休的时候，作为接替他们人格解析的话题，他和Reid聊起剧情以及电视剧和舞台剧版本的区别，Morgan则是像是见了鬼一样在偷听了他们的对话内容之后去了Garcia的办公室。
“By the way, do you have any plans for Christmas? We wanna invite you to our Christmas dinner.”
「顺便问一下，你圣诞节有什么安排吗？我们想邀请你参加我们的圣诞聚餐。」
“Oh…I’m…I’m sorry…”Reid转动着手上的咖啡，“I was planing to meet my mother this year.”
「哦...我...不好意思...」
「我打算今年圣诞节去见我妈妈。」
“That’s fine. No pressure for this.” Hotch思考了一下，“That means you guys need to send us some cute photo as evidence. Right?”
「那没问题。不用那么紧张。」
「这意味着你们得给我们发一些可爱的照片作为证据。对吧？」
Reid笑了两下：“Right.”
「对。」

再次，正如Reid所说的，他们在圣诞夜之前处理完文件之后回到了家，当天也没有紧急电话打入。
Hotch如愿地在圣诞节和自己的家人呆在了一起，还收到了Reid和他妈妈的合照。
他们看起来很开心，背景里是一个放置在桌子上迷你圣诞树，旁边还露出了一些翻开了的书的边角。
他站在烤炉前，里面是在Jessica的帮助下料理好的烤鸡。
他拿出手机回复Reid。
“Lovely. Happy Christmas! See you later.”
「真好。圣诞快乐！回头见。」
里面附上了一张正在运行的烤炉照片。
“Happy Christmas! By the way, not see in the oven right, human can’t be roast chicken :)”
「“圣诞快乐！顺便说一句，不是在烤箱里见对吧，人类是不会变成烤鸡的哟 :)」
他刚看到回复，Jack就在客厅呼唤他：“Daddy————！”
「爸爸————！」
“Here！”他喊了一下，笑着放下手机。
「这儿呢！」
客厅里，圣诞树上的灯光都被打开了，即使不开灯也能照亮整个房间，圣诞树底下则放着几个礼物盒。沙发上被铺上了红色的毯子还有几个舒适的枕头，电视里正在播放电视节目，桌子上是一些圣诞节主题糖果和饼干——Jessica立下了规矩，不仅一天只能吃几个，而且在吃饭之前绝对不允许和任何人吃。
Jack转头笑着给他展示了Jessica送给他的礼物——一套儿童警察角色扮演玩具套装。
“I’m here.”他笑着，低声对自己说。
「我在这里。」
