Work Text:
It was around 11pm.
It took you a while to get up to the Firebrand, and beat both Trotter and The Ancients.
You felt weak. You could barely stand, the adrenaline running out and the rush of pure exhaustion reaching you, to your very core.
Calypso had already left, conveniently picked up by Terry, who so happened to stop by to 'check on you, dude.'
You swear he's stalking you. Whatever, you're too tired to think straight, your head feels like static, with a blanket above it muffling it.
Your vision starts to blur, your eyes watering from the pure heat of the quite literal volcano you are in.
You put the firebrand in your cards satchel, and pull out your menu, fast traveling to the HQ.
Shedletsky should be awake, right? Admins need sleep still, sure, but not nearly as much. He's probably waiting patiently, per usual.
The fhoosh sound of the fast traveling alerts Shedletsky, and he greets you, albeit not being able to see you yet.
"Ah, you're back! I hope it wasn't too much trouble! How are-"
As you walk in the room, Shedletsky cuts off his sentence in concerned shock. They notice the distant, glossy look in your eyes and you heavily slouching.
You pull the Firebrand card out of your satchel, and attempt to audibly tell him that you now have the Firebrand, but you can't think straight, leading you to talk without thinking first much. Your speech comes out slurred and only half coherent.
"mmmm... I... umm.. got t'e firebran' or sumthin'..."
Shedletsky struggles to find a response, trying to stay professional.
"Oh! Are you uh... are you feeling alright?"
"IIIII'mmm fineee.."
Shedletsky attempts to sugarcoat his next question, trying to still stay not very personal.
"Have you been.. well.. have you been getting proper rest? You seem exhausted."
"pppfftt, rest i don' need dat i'm finneeee"
A long pause of silence plays out until you broke it, saying
"'nywayz, wheres the win'force... or sum-"
Shedletsky cuts you off
"Kid, you need to get some sleep. Hit the hay, if you will. You aren't even talking coherently."
You whine in response, clearly not agreeing with that statement.
"nnOOOO! I don't wanna 3:<"
Shedletsky seems dumbfounded at that response, usually never hearing you be much vocal, especially not complaining.
"...okay thats it."
He proceeds to scruff you like a cat by the collar of your shirt, hes much taller and you're too tired to complain anyways.
He brings you to a room connected to the south of the basement, normally ignored (due to the camera angle in real game but shh shush go to sleep go to sleep to to sleep liiittllle babbbyyyy).
The room seems like a lounge of sorts, with beanbags, blankets, a mini kitchen with a coffee maker and a fridge, etc.
Although, the room seems it hasn't been touched in a while. it has been around 3-4 months after Builderman got kidnapped, so its understandable that most employees either got laid off or aren't working as much without their boss to give them any things to do.
Shedletsky laid you down on a fairly large beanbag, laying a blanket over you.
You pretty much instantly pass out, mumbling incoherent thanks as you drift off into sleep.
He doesn't say anything as turns off the light and exits the room.
As they're leaving, though, they whisper under their breath a small "..'night." and close the door softly.
