Chapter Text
“...one.”
…
A chill in his circuits made Blitzwing jolt awake. As always, the fear of what he was going to see when he came back online was present.
Fortunately for him, what he saw when his optics turned on were the ugly walls of the medbay. Unfortunately, he found out that moving was still painful. “Frag…” He hissed, putting a servo over his chassis.
The noise made Astrotrain — who had been dozing off by his side — come closer to him. “Hey,” he said, “how are you feeling?”
Honestly? Like he had been shot fifty seven times.
… No, he had been shot fifty seven times before. This feeling was different. Familiar, but not in that way. Besides the expected pain, he was feeling-
“Empty.” Blitzwing finally said. “It’s weird.” He added, because it was weird. He really had hated carrying and all that came with it, especially during the last months. The constant discomfort, the insatiable hunger, the intensified emotions (He cried in front of Astrorain, twice!), becoming a walking oven— Blitzwing was so ready to be done with all of it. But now that it was over, the sparkling out and peacefully recharging in Astrotrain’s arms, he couldn’t help but feel bothered with how empty his frame now felt.
It was weird. “Just like her.” Blitzwing said, optics landing on the sparkling. He extended his arms, “Give her to me.”
Astrotrain arched an optic ridge, “Are you sure?” There was a gentleness in his voice that would usually make Blitzwing roll his optics, but, given the situation, he decided to let it pass.
“I slept it off, bring her on.” Astrotrain still didn't look so sure, but left her in his arms either way. Blitzwing struggled a bit, she was quite heavy, but holding her was not hard overall. Well, the creature did squirm, apparently she wasn’t happy to leave the shuttle-train’s arms, but she calmed down as soon as she got close to Blitzwing’s chassis. Pressing her face against it, she went back to recharge.
Blitzwing smiled at her, passing a finger through her little face.
… Or what he thought was her face.
She really looked weird.
Still, he was amazed by what he had created.
… Huh, it was crazy to think about that. Blitzwing didn’t like to think about things, he was sure he would go insane if he did, but he couldn’t stop thinking about it: He had created her! A whole sparkling! From scratch! And now she was here, in his arms, and she looked weird but one day she would look like him and she would destroy so many losers.
Wasn’t that amazing?
There were so many times during the carrying where he wondered if it would be even worth it. He didn't have a reason to keep her besides just feeling like he had to. That was something that he didn't like to think about. No matter how much he did, he couldn't reason with that feeling. So he decided to just follow it, like he did with many of his instincts. Still, with how much he hated the process, ‘is it going to be worth it’ was an ever-present question.
Now, looking at his sparkling, he had an answer.
A smile appeared on his face. One also appeared on Astrotrain’s face, whose elbows were resting in the berth.
Seeing him, looking at him like he was doing right now, made Blitzwing remember that there was another thing he couldn’t stop thinking about. “So,” he started, “where does this leave us?”
That took Astrotrain out of his own thoughts. “What do you mean?”
Blitzwing made a pause before answering, “You said you love me.”
Astrotrain looked caught off guard. “... Yeah?”
So it hadn’t been a hallucination, Blitzwing thought. “Does that make us mates now?”
Astrotrain’s face went blank, like a deer’s did before getting run over by a stunticon. Then he let out a small, tired laugh. “I guess it does.” He said, giving Blitzwing a look that made him feel all warm inside.
“Okay.” Blitzwing smiled, bigger this time. His optics went back to the sparkling and his expression was replaced with a frown. The creature was now awake and trying to get free of his hold, in direction to Astrotrain. “Hey, he already held you, it’s my turn.” The jet-tank told her, but it went ignored. Astrotrain laughed.
The audacity of these two. “Almost three years making you and you prefer to be in his arms? That’s so-” Blitzwing’s complaint was cut short when he felt the sparkling vibrating. “Uh, Train-” And then two nubs popped out of her body. The sparkling moved the new additions of her body in Astrotrain’s direction, who was not laughing anymore.
In fact, he looked quite horrified. “Uh, Hook?” He called the medic, whose boring look was gone as soon as he opened the curtain. “Is that… normal?” Astrotrain continued.
Hook took some time before answering. “Yes, totally.” But he didn't sound so sure.
Blitzwing paid them no mind, absolutely enchanted by this new development. “Who’s my little freak of nature? You are, yes you are-” He cooed, grabbing one of the sparkling’s little nubs. The sparkling, not happy with that, scrunched up her face.
In front of them, the conversation continued. “Are things like this going to happen often?” Astrotrain asked.
Hook, once more, took some time to answer. “Well, she is meant to look cybertronian, so I would say that-”
On the berth, Blitzwing, who had kept playing with the sparkling's nubs, stopped when he noticed that a mouth-like orifice had appeared on her angry face. Before he could tell the others, the small being let out a loud, piercing scream.
“- yes.” Hook finished saying.
While the others covered their audials, Blitzwing stared at her and decided that yes, it had all definitely been worth it.
He laughed, “I love you, little monster.”
