Chapter 1: Nest

Chapter Text

ALL CHARACTERS BELONG TO MARVEL

Bucky was curled up in his nest, suffering. He had another nightmare, and he couldn’t go back to bed. All he wanted was to curl up with Steve and Tony ….but they would never want him. Tony was Steve’s omega, there was no changing that. Even if Bucky was the one there when Steve had no one else and was so sick. Even if he was always there to protect Steve. Now he was the past. To the end of the line Steve said.

But the line ended a long time ago when Bucky fell off of it.

There was no one now that Bucky could turn to. But he could at least pretend there was. Because Tony and Steve were gone on a mission. So, Bucky sneaked out of his room and quickly moved into Tony’s.

Tony’s nest was empty and still smelled strongly of him and Steve. Perfect for Bucky as he dove down into the soft linens and pillows. Bucky finally felt at home.

Too bad Tony and Steve weren’t truly there.

~~~
Unknown to Bucky, on the roof, Steve and Tony had just landed the Quinjet. They had finished their mission early, and Steve was grateful for it. He missed Bucky terribly, and he knew his omega did too. No matter how complete Steve and Tony felt, they always felt something was missing. And then Bucky came back and it all clicked … sort of.
At first they had tried grand gestures to seduce the omega, but nothing worked. Bucky just thought they were rubbing their relationship in his face. No matter the flowers, the dates, the gifts they brought home, Bucky didn’t understand. He thought he was too broken to be loved. But that was going to change.
The two tired avengers descended down through the elevator, holding a small gift packet. They wanted no mistake on the fact they wanted their wayward omega. So they had made a pit stop on their mission and gotten some collars. One for Tony, and one for Bucky.
Steve thought they should walk to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, but Tony was having none of it as he caught a scent in the doorway.
“Steve? Do you smell that?” The omega scrunched his nose, “It’s the best smelling thing in the universe.”
Steve chuckled, “I thought that was my scent, brat.”
Tony sniffed again and followed the scent while his alpha trailed behind him, “It’s not, you jerk-”
Tony cut off as they reached the doorway of his room and saw Bucky snuggled in their nest.
He was halfway asleep and emitting the sweetest happy omega scent either of them had smelled.
“Oh god Steve, he’s in my nest. He smells like us.” Tony stammered out, the omega’s knees were buckling as he also let out a happy scent.
Steve picked up his darling omega and set him next to Bucky in the nest. “You two are so cute,” Steve said lovingly.
Bucky started stirring from his sleep. “Steve? Tony?” The omega rubbed his eyes. “God, I haven’t gotten enough sleep.”
Tony nuzzled into Bucky’s neck, “Not a dream you naughty omega.”
Bucky jolted suddenly, “Oh, I’m so sorry! I’m so sorry!” His scent turned more and more distressed as he scrambled out of the nest, but Steve was having none of it.
Bucky and Tony were his omegas, and they belonged in the nest together. Steve was done with Bucky running away.
Steve grabbed Bucky and tossed him back in the nest gently as he growled. “Omega’s stay in the nest until their alpha marks them.”
Bucky blushed. “I’m sorry, I really am. I didn’t know you were home- ah!”
The omega was cut off by Tony kissing his neck. Their scents started intertwining as Bucky’s distressed scent faded, replaced by feeling owned and content.
“Don’t be sorry,” Tony said into Bucky’s neck, “My nest is your nest.”
Bucky melted under Tony’s constant kisses. He started purring softly, and Tony responded with his own purr.
Their Alpha snuggled them together in the nest. “You have the faint smell of scared, Bucky. Tell me what’s wrong.”
Bucky’s purring suddenly stopped as he shook his head.
“Don’t lie to me, omega. Tell me the truth.” Steve glared at Bucky.
Bucky tried to curl away, but Steve snuggled up on top of him, “Bucky, please, we can’t help you if you don’t tell us what’s wrong.”
Tony snuggled up on Bucky’s other side, also sliding under Steve. “Don’t push him Steve. He’s finally here with us, he doesn’t need an interrogation.” Tony glared at Steve.
Bucky buried his face in Tony’s neck, using his nose to shift the collar up so he had better access to Tony’s scent gland.
“I’m sorry,” Steve said.
Bucky only nodded and clung tighter to his fellow omega.
“I have a gift for you,” Steve grabbed the box and placed it next to Bucky, “You can open it if you stop scent marking Tony.”
Bucky growled. Steve growled back, which caused Bucky to whimper and let go of Tony.
“I know you want to mark him, baby, but first this so I can mark you both,” Steve said apologetically.
Bucky opened the gift slowly, “Collar?”
“Yeah Buck. We want to make it clear that we want you, and that you’re mine.”
Tony grinned, “We can be matching.”
“Will you help me put it on?” Bucky asked Steve.
Steve nodded and carefully put on the black, soft collar, just like he had with Tony an hour before.
Steve started rubbing his scent all over Bucky and Tony. The omegas squirmed playfully, giggling to each other.
“Stevie!” Bucky exclaimed.
“Hush, hush, you’re purring pretty thing.” Steve responded, scent marking them even more.
“Yeah, Capsicle, let the omega purr in peace. This has got to be discrimination against omegas.” Tony jabbed back.
Bucky giggled more, momentarily forgetting all of his troubles in the happy moment sandwiched in between the two men he loved. It was like the rainbow after a storm for Bucky’s life. And it was perfect.
Steve smiled and drew away from the omegas, “Now, sleep.” Tony groaned playfully and Steve swatted at his arm, “I mean it. You haven’t slept in forever.”
“But, I haven’t been to the lab in 72 hours! I just need to run some diagnostics”
Tony was cut off by Bucky yawning, “Please? I … I haven’t slept in a while either.” Bucky admitted.
“Fine, but only for you. Not for Steve.” Tony said with a sigh, pulling Bucky into the nest further.
Steve smiled. He didn’t know if his omegas would get along, but they did. And they were perfect.
Steve cuddled next to them, weighing them down with his arms and releasing sleepy alpha pheromones to make sure they slept.
And all three fell asleep finally. At home with each other for the first time in a long time.
