Reiner never gets sick.
Or at least, that's what he told Annie and Bertholt.
It wasn't looking so true when he woke up with the worst fever he had in his life.
Not only that, his head was pounding! It felt like someone was hitting his head with a hammer, and his nose was leaking like a faucet. This wasn't even the worse!
His beautiful voice—was suddenly sounding like someone scratching their nails on a chalkboard. Not good, at all.
He was fucked. He had a test to do in Mr. Ackerman's class! The hardest class he had ever been in. (Especially since Mr. Levi Ackerman kept on glaring daggers at him in classes. Whaddid Reiner even do?)
I mean, he could probably try to walk it off! He's Reiner Braun for fuck's sake! Captain of the Football team, hot, a smart guy, whatever you think! There's no way he'd let a stupid fever bring him down--
Bertholdt, his absolute god of a boyfriend, managed to get him in stuck in bed—with three hundred stacks of blankets on him! (It really wasn't three hundred, but to Reiner, it felt like it.)
Bertholdt was sitting besides Reiner on his bed, legs crossed, watching Reiner like a hawk. Bertholdt was still in his pajamas, holding a hot bowl of chicken(?) soup. Reiner didn't know what type of soup it was but all he knew was that the soup smelled good, but it failed to make Reiner hungry. Did he even eat breakfast yet?
The raven-haired man seemed to be reading his thoughts, and he answered with a, "You haven't eaten yet, Rei. That's why I made this for you. Besides, it's a family recipe! Lola—Grandma, used to give me this when I was sick."
Reiner grunted, pushing himself up so he was sitting straight. Fuck, it was cold. Way too cold.
"—'m not hungry," The blonde's voice was rough, barely a whisper. It was grating on his nerves. He cleared his throat and repeated his words, but his voice still sounded like a dying whale. Bertholdt raised an eyebrow.
Reiner shot Bertholdt a glare. (It sorta came out as a pathetic look instead of the annoyed glare he was looking for.) Bertholdt almost snickered at the sight.
Reiner, strong and handsome, suddenly looking like a homeless hobo covered in way too much blankets...and sounding like a dying whale.
Poor guy.
Reiner huffed in annoyance before he removed the blankets, only to regret taking them off, so he immediately put them back on. "Uughhhh! I need to go! I have a test to do..." He said, making Bertholdt's eyes narrow behind his glasses. "Mr. Ackerman said he'd let you do the test when you get better, Rei. I even called the office in the morning!"
The blonde groaned, completely shifting the conversation into something else. "It's too cold! B, turn on the heater!" Bertholdt had to pause for a moment, the heater was on, no doubt. It was winter! He reached for Reiner's forehead, and shit, it was burning hot. "Rei... You have a bad fever.."
Reiner hazily blinked at Bertholdt, processing his boyfriends' words. "No... Brauns don't get sick.."
Bertholdt stared at Reiner, dumbfounded. "Gago..." He muttered under his breath, shaking his head before he looked back at the soup. Reiner raised an eyebrow. "... Gago? Whaazat mean."
Bertholdt hummed. "Means you're pretty," Reiner blinked, confusion spreading on his face. "Me? Pretty? Right—Now??" The raven-haired man chuckled. "You're always pretty, Rei!"
A warm blush spread throughout Reiner's face. "BERTHOLdt—I—uurrghh. Shut up!.." He murmured, but there wasn't any venom to his words. He looked at Bertholdt with those watery golden-brown eyes. Bertholdt always found them mesmerizing to look at, even when he was sick.
"What kind of soup is that..?"
That threw Bertholdt off his train of thought, and he had to look at the soup. "Oh, this? It's Tinola—Like I said, Family recipe." He pushed up his glasses, before looking right back at the blonde. "You need to eat, Rei—Or else you won't get any better!"
Bertholdt was met with a grumbling Reiner. Jeez, Reiner sure was stubborn...
"I'm... not hungry," The blonde complained, "Besides! Just give me medicine and I'll be fine!"
The latter tilted his head. "You can't have medicine on an empty stomach," Bertholdt handed the soup to Reiner, hoping he'd take it. "If you don't eat you won't be able to have medicine, and you'd be sick for awhile." The blonde stared at him, then he reluctantly took the soup. "Fine."
The raven-haired man smirked. "I win." Reiner took a spoonful of the soup and put it in his mouth. "...Mm.."
It wasn't long before Reiner had drank it all.
Reiner gave the bowl back and huffed. "You... don't win anything... That was cheatin'," Bertholdt tsked, and put the bowl on his desk. "Cheating as in, making you drink soup? How's that cheating?" The blonde went quiet for a moment. "I...don't know how. It's cheating, but I just can't prove it yet."
Bertholdt rolled his eyes, "Mhhm. And I don't wear glasses." He snickered, and then took Reiner's hand in his own. "Do you want medicine now?" Reiner nodded. "Tylenol or Advil?" Bertholdt asked, and Reiner responded, "Tylenol.."
The raven-haired man nodded and went to go get the Tylenol from the bathroom in their dorm. He came back with a cup of water and the Tylenol, and gave them both to Reiner.
Reiner almost choked on the water.
When the blonde was done choking, he gave the cup of water back with shaky hands. "Can we watch a movie?" Bertholdt thought about this for a moment before he nodded. "Mm, sure," he paused for a moment before adding, "How about we finish Attack on Titan?"
Reiner's eyes lit up like a child before he nodded. "Absolutely! I almost forgot we didn't finish it.." he sucked in a breath. "Well, that's what we get when we spoil ourselves." Bertholdt scoffed. "Not my fault. You searched it up and you spoiled who was the Armored and Colossal Titan."
"Listen, I was curious!"
"Yeah, but then you somehow spoiled yourself, and you found out that Eren dies anyway."
"I wasn't that surprised, Eren is an asshole."
"Our Eren or the Attack on Titan Eren?"
"...Both."
Bertholdt snickered.
"Yeah, I agree."
