Sparks Make Things Go

Summary:

They entered Pop’s to find a group of rowdy guys from Seaside High causing a ruckus, they were in town to cheer on their football team, and were riled up because their team had won.

Veronica sighed.

“Are those the same guys who pushed past you on the bleachers at the end of the game?” asked Betty.

Some guys push Veronica, Betty doesn't like that.

“Yes.”

“We should say something to them, they hurt you.”

“No. I appreciate the thought, babe, but its not worth it. I only broke a couple of nails when I fell. Although, I should charge Seaside High for a new manicure.”

“Hmm. Why don’t you go sit with Jughead and Archie in our booth? I want to talk to Pop for a sec.”

“You aren’t going to bother talking to those cretins are you?”

“I won’t talk to those jerks, I promise.”

Roughly ten minutes later Betty joined the gang in their booth. Veronica pushed a strawberry milkshake her way.

“Looks like Pop has had enough and is finally kicking those guys out of the diner,” said Jughead.

“At last,” said Archie.

They turned to watch Pop shoo the troublesome group out the door.

“And don’t come back in here, you’re banned,” Pop yelled at the departing teenagers.

A few peaceful minutes later Jughead looked out the window.

“What’s wrong them?”

They all looked and saw the banished guys standing around their van jostling to look under the raised hood.

“Looks like car trouble,” said Archie.

“Looks like,” agreed Betty, “and they’re going to have a hard time finding some place to buy spark plugs at this time of night.”

“Wait, how do know they need spark plugs?” asked Veronica.

Betty merely smiled and pulled a couple of spark plugs out of her jacket pocket.

“Betty! You devious heroine, you didn’t need to do that.”

“Well, I don’t like people being mean to my girl.”

“Someone care to explain what’s going on?” asked Archie.

“In a minute,” said Veronica “but first I have to properly thank my avenging angel.”

Then Veronica leaned over and kissed Betty.
