Chapter Text
For me. For them. For you.
We are all running out of time.
No matter what,
never let go of that hand.
It was a dark sight. He couldn’t see anything. He slowly remembers what happened before he suddenly woken up...
The training was fairly normal, though it was already quite late. To Yuuno, it shows just how much he was into the art of swords. Preparing to go home, per usual, he noted that the day wasn’t all that strange; until a random black feather landed in front of him.
There weren’t any crows in the area and he couldn’t hear one either, so when he looked around, instead of the sighting of the said bird: it was a horse carriage. He found it odd, since there wasn’t a single sign of this running up to him around, but before he can even figure that out, he felt like his vision blurred and then blackened.
The scarfed brunette finally got his bearing on what happened, but he was still stuck in a pretty tight room...
“Crap... People are coming. Gotta get a uniform while...” A stranger’s voice echoed in the dark space. Yuuno heard some sort of struggle from the voice in the other side of the wall.
“Time for... my secret move!” After the voice stated that, he saw flickers of blue flames and then felt the wall that he was trying to lean on move and then fall out.
“Ok, ok. Gotta get... WHAAAA?!? Why are you up?!” The voice became clearer to Yuuno, but when he quickly looked around, the source wasn’t a person... but a cat.
“A... talking cat?” Yuuno almost stumbled on his words trying to make sense of what he was seeing right now. “Wait... And a room of floating coffins...?!”
“I am the Great Grim! Your fate was sealed the moment I spotted ya, so hurry and gimme those clothes!” The named cat ordered. “Otherwise... I’ll roast ya!” Grim tried to assert dominance over Yuuno, but the one human in this exchange was more confused than ever.
“My clothes... Why would-” As he looked down, his clothes were not the same ones that he had before he somehow appeared in this place. It was black and violet robes made with silk.
So much stuff was thrown at Yuuno at once that he didn’t even notice the footsteps coming closer. He didn’t know if that was good or bad, so his instict was to only run; and so he did, out of another door. He couldn’t even think about using his sword against a cat, beast-like or not.
“Why you-! Stop right there!” Grim yelled as he ran after Yuuno.
Out through the doors they went and Yuuno only took quick looks at where he was at and try to lose the cat in this unfamiliar area. For a quick moment, he stopped at what seemed to be a courtyard before finding a suitable turn. He repeated that a few times before being lead into some sort of library, seeing that there were multiple books and shelves. But even after all that, Yuuno couldn’t manage to shake Grim off.
“Did you really think you’d get away from my nose? Dumb human!” Now it was between him and Grim in this one walkway. “If you don’t wanna get roasted, better hand over-” As Grim was speaking, a rope suddenly binded the cat. “Bwah?! Ow! What’s with the rope?”
“This is no mere rope. It is a lash of love!” A new voice boomed. It was from a man that seemed to be wearing a mask, a tophat and a fairly fancy robe and suit to acompany it. “Are you one of the new students? That won’t do... You mustn’t leave the Gate on your own!”
Yuuno was now even more confused than ever. New student? Gate? This was a school?
“Not only that, taking your untamed familiar with you to school is against the regulations.” The man turned to Grim, who was still tied up.
“Let me go! I’m not their freakin’ familiar!” Grim was protesting as he was struggling to break free.
“Sure, sure. That’s what all the rebellious ones say. Just quiet down for a moment.” And then somehow, the rope manages to cover Grim’s mouth up.
“My goodness. It’s unprecedented for a new student to leave the Gate on their own.” The man let out a small groan. “How impatient can you be? The entrance ceremony is already under way. Let’s head to the Hall of Mirrors.”
Yuuno managed to regain his voice after the sequence of events that played out right in front of him. “Gate...?” He somewhat asked.
“It’s the room you woke up in with all of the doors. All students admitted to this academy must pass through one of those doors to arrive here.” The man explained. “Normally, studets wake up only after the door is opened with a special key.”
“That explains why I woke up first, probably.” Yuuno thought before saying out loud, “The fire must have blown the lid off.”
“So in the end, the culprit appears to be this familiar.” The man observed. “If you’re going to bring it with you, you have to take responsibility and properly take care of it.”
“But... it’s not mine-” Yuuno was about to protest about being an unknown fire-breathing cat’s owner but the man had looked like he remembered something.
“...Oh my! Now isn’t the time to be long-winded. The entrance ceremony will soon come to a close.” The man grabbed Grim and was about to exit the room. “Let’s get a move on.”
Moments before...
Yugi suddenly waking up to not only new robes, but also an unknown place was the one thing he never expected. Which is why he first thought it was some sort of nightmare.
As he woke up, he found himself in a room with other people wearing the same robes as he was, surrounding a mirror that was at the center of the room. He thought he was in some sort of cult, and the man dressed in a fancy robe, bird-like mask and top hat didn’t really help towards his suspicions.
“Welcome students, to Night Raven College! Consider it an honor to be selected by the Dark Mirror.” The man said. “One by one, please approach the Dark Mirror so that you may be assigned to the houses that you will reside in and represent while you attend Night Raven College.” He then ordered.
Then Yugi realized it was for the group that he was standing in. Most of the other people in the room were standing on the far side of the room behind the central mirror. The mention of “college” made him piece the picture quickly: he was in a group of new students while those on the other side were the seniors.
Yugi honestly wished he just woke up from this dream immediately.
When it was his turn, the thought was still in his mind. But the way the face in the mirror stared at him; it was saying that it wasn’t a dream.
“State thy name.”
The mirror’s face startled Yugi for a bit, but he responded with a loud enough whisper for only the mirror to hear it. “Mutou Yugi...”
“The shape of thy soul is...” The face seemed to ponder for a bit. And then, it continued. “Pomefiore.”
“Now if only I knew what that meant.” Yugi thought.
Thankfully, a tall figure waved Yugi over to save him some embarrassment on what to do next. Yugi thought that the person who waved at him looked like a model of some sort. He did have some resemblance to the models in the magazine that his friend Anzu would read from time to time.
“Not too bad...” The tall individual said, as he gave Yugi a glance over. “You’re slouching though.”
“Wha-” Yugi couldn’t say anything else as the other person immediately started fussing over his clothes. “Not to mention that your nervous fidgeting has terribly wrinkled your robes. You even hiked your belt up. It should rest just on top of your hips to make your torso appear longer...”
In another part of the group...
“State thy name.”
“Yuki Judai!”
“The shape of thy soul is... Heartslabyul.” Judai had no idea what that meant, but from the previous ones that got sorted there, he saw that they went to a rather short boy with red hair. So, he did just that.
“Welcome to Heartslabyul.” The boy greeted Judai. “We look forward to working with you this year.”
“Nice to meet you too!” Judai greeted back.
“Fudo Yusei.”
“The shape of thy soul is...” The mirror pondered again. “Octavinelle.”
“A pleasure working with you, good sir.” A boy with glasses extended the politeness when Yusei approached the group.
Yusei couldn’t really pinpoint the exact feeling, but he has definitely seen that type of smile before... But rather than commenting on that, he stayed silent.
“Wow... that guppy is tall.”
“Tsukumo Yuma!”
“The shape of thy soul is... Savanaclaw.”
A tall man with lion-ears on top of his head lazily signaled the new member of the dorm. “Ah... Leona-san, aren’t ‘cha gonna greet the new guy?” Another guy with similar features right next to the man asked.
“Too tiring to do that to every new mammal...”
“...Sakaki... Yuya...”
“The shape of thy soul is... Scarabia.”
“Hey! Over here!” The voices were getting muddier to him, he just wanted to crawl back to bed and just feel comfort.
“Are you okay?”
“I’m... fine...” Was the only weak response Yuya could muster.
“Fujiki Yusaku.”
“The shape of thy soul is... Ignihyde.”
“Uh... over here.” The voice surprised Yusaku for a bit. It was coming from a floating tablet. “I would say something awe inspiring but that hits the word limit too much and I am not from an action-mecha anime...”
“Hey... What are you doing?”
“Hm?” The young boy looked over after being taken out by his small tinkering of a round metal object. “What’s wrong?”
“You’re next! Go up to the Dark Mirror!”
“Oh, right!” The young boy said as he ran up to the mirror.
“You know, I bet he’s gonna be in Ignihyde.”
“No way... That kid is super energetic, everyone in that dorm are super introverted.”
“But I think he was messing with some sort of machine, so he’s gotta be... Plus look at him! He looks like he’s ten!”
“I’m Oudou Yuga!”
“The shape of thy soul is...” The face looked like it was staring harder at Yuga. “Diasomnia.”
A few mumbles came out.
“No way...”
“The kid is that strong?”
“Oh~ That is quite the surprise.” A short man with a deep voice gestured Yuga to his group. “Diasomnia welcomes you, though it’s a shame that the actual Dorm Head isn’t present to greet you...”
“Hm?” The masked man mentally counted the new students in the room again, it seemed that one was missing from the count.
“What’s the matter, Mr. Dire Crowley?”
“It seems like I may be miscounting...” Crowley explained. “But there seems to be a missing person amongst the new enrollees.”
“Mr. Velgear, I want you to monitor the rest of the ceramony while I look for this missing student.” Crowley ordered.
“Understood, Mr. Crowley!” Yuudias saluted as Crowley went out of the Mirror Chamber to look for this supposed student.
Now...
“This is “Night Raven College”. Budding mages blessed with unprecedented talent gather from all over the world here at the most prestigious magical academy in Twisted Wonderland.” Crowley explained to Yuuno.
“Mage...?” Yuuno asked. “Does that mean... magic?”
“Only those mages deemed worth by the Dark Mirror can attend this school.” Crowley further explained. “A Dark Carriage carrying a Gate should have gone to meet you as well.”
“The Black Carriage goes to welcome new students chosen by the Dark Mirror. They are special carriages that carry the Doors to the academy. Carriages are the vehicle of choice for special occasions. Is that not what conventional wisdom has dictated since the days of yore?”
Yuuno couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “Are you saying that the carriage just brought me here on its own?!”
Crowley didn’t answer that, and instead insisted to go to the Entrance Ceremony, with the tied up Grim still in his hands.
As they approached the room again, Yuuno heard some sort of conversation going on.
“Which reminds me, where did the headmaster go? He flew out right in the middle of the ceremony...”
“Abandoning his post...”
“Did he get a stomachache or something?”
“Not at all!” Crowley dramatically barged into the room as if it was on cue.
“Ah, he’s here.” Yuuno saw a red-haired boy saying that and looking around again, there were more people here than when he woke up.
“Mr. Dire Crowley! Nothing unusual happened while in your absence!” Yuudias reported, and then saw Yuuno. “Are you the missing student that suddenly went out of the case?”
“Yes he is indeed, Professor Velgear.” Crowley then turned to Yuuno. “You are the only one yet to be assigned a dormitory. I shall watch over the raccoon, so step in front of the Dark Mirror.”
Yuuno took a quick look at Grim, who presumably did not like that raccoon comment, before looking at the mirror in front of the room again. He approached it, and somehow with the sorting mention and magic discussion he had with Crowley earlier, he could already think of one outcome, but to be sure...
“State thy name.”
“Yuuno. Miyaharu Yuuno.”
“The shape of thy soul is...” The face pondered.
And pondered...
And pondered...
A lot of students had baited breath for this one, as they’ve never seen anyone stun the Mirror this much before. But eventually...
“...is unknown.” Yuuno had thought correct.
“Come again?” Crowley incredulously asked.
“I sense not a spark of magic from this one... The color, the shape, all are nothing.” The Dark Mirror explained. “Therefore, they are suited for no dormitory.”
Now, the audience was in murmurs.
“No magic... in a magic school?” Yugi thought. “That’s a surprise...” He was looking around too and everyone had the same shocked thoughts and reactions.
“Is this normal...?” Yuudias mumbled out loud.
“A Black Carriage would absolutely never go to meet someone who can’t use magic!” Crowley said in alarm. “In 100 years, there has not once been a mistake in student selection... So why in the world...”
Grim at this point, broke free from his binding from the rope and then was asking for taking Yuuno’s place as a student.
“Unlike that dumb human, I can use magic! Let me in the school instead! If you need proof, I’ll show you right now!”
As Grim prepared to breathe fire again, the red-haired boy yelled for everyone to take cover. And in that moment, everything in the room was on fire.
Unfortunately, a boy in a turban had his robe’s back part on fire. “Waaaa!!! Hottttt!!! My butt’s on fire!!” He tries to put it out, but fails to do so.
“At this rate, the school will be a sea of fire!” Crowley yelled out in alarm. “Somebody catch that raccoon!”
Yuudias stepped up and volunteered to catch Grim. “I will need some assistance, Mr. Ashengrotto and Mr. Rosehearts! Please assist me in cornering the strange magical raccoon!”
“For the last time, I’m not a raccoon!” Grim protested as he blew more fire that was closer to a group of people. “The Great Grim-destined to become the greatest mage ever-is me!”
“It certainly has a moxie.” Azul commented. “Care to assist Professor Yuudias with me, Riddle?”
“I can’t overlook those who break the rules.” Riddle said. “Let’s hurry and get this over with.”
After a while, they managed to catch Grim via Riddle somehow casting a collar on him that stops him from using magic as long as its on him.
“You must do something about this!” Crowley looked at Yuuno. “It is your familiar, after all!”
“I already told you, it’s not mine...” Yuuno sighed and said it louder, in case Crowley doesn’t hear it again.
“Properly discip... eh? It’s not yours?” Crowley was flabbergasted.
“I have never seen this guy, ever.” Yuuno explained. “I already said it wasn’t mine.”
“Y-You did?” Crowley then cleared his throat. “Anyway, let’s get it out of the school at any rate. We won’t turn you into a stew. For I am gracious~”
“Mr. Velgear, may you let this creature out?” Crowley turned to Yuudias to ask him a favor.
“Of course, Mr. Dire Crowley!” Yuudias picked Grim up and walked out of the Chamber.
“Gyaaaaaa! Let me go!” Grim whailed. “I’m going to, going to... Become the greatest mage!” Yuudias then closed the doors, shutting Grim out.
Before Yugi left the Mirror Chamber, he and Yuuno made slight eye contact, and the note that he had with the scarfed boy’s glance was: confusion. After all of what happened earlier, he would sympathize with him. But unfortunately, he had to follow with his new dorm.
Now that all of the students left, leaving Yuuno and Crowley alone in the Chamber.
“Then, Mr. Yuuno. I am terribly sorry about this but...” Crowley looked somewhat solemn on what he was about to say. “We must have you leave the school. Those without any talent for magic cannot be allowed to attend class here. Not to worry, the Dark Mirror will send you directly back from whence you came.”
Yuuno was somewhat relieved for that one. Maybe this was one giant dream that felt way too real.
So he stepped up to the Dark Mirror, and let Crowley guide it.
“Oh, Dark Mirror! Guide this one back to the place they belong!” But the Dark Mirror was silent. Crowley was confused at how long it randomly took for it to do anything.
“Once more... Oh, Dark Mirror! Guide this...” Crowley was about to chant again, but then...
“It is nowhere.”
“Eh?” Now both Yuuno and Crowley were confused.
“The place they belong is nowhere in this world... It does not exist.” Was the Mirror’s response.
“What did you say? That is unbelievable! Hmm, well, the unbelievable has been on parade today.” Crowley commented.
“This is the first time it’s ever happened since I became Headmaster...” Crowley said. “Where exactly did you come from?”
Yuuno backed up from the Mirror to face Crowley to explain his situation. “So, I’m from a place named “Nagoya”. It’s in Japan, and considering that you said that you said we’re in “Twisted Wonderland”, I don’t know if you heard it.”
“Hmm...” Crowley tapped his chin in thought. “Your assumption is correct. I have never heard of that place. I have a general grasp of where all the students came from, but I’ve never even heard that name before.”
“Let’s go do some research in the library.” Crowley offered his assisted in finding Yuuno’s home, unbeknownst to him, it isn’t just him that seemed to be from an unknown place.
The two of them scoured the library, looking at world maps, history books or trying to find even a mention of Yuuno’s home in there...
But not a single mention of it was written anywhere.
“There really isn’t anything...” Crowley observed. “Are you otruly from where you say? You aren’t lying to me by chance?”
“I am not. From my perspective, everything around me sounds so alien.” Yuuno assured Crowley about his truthfulness.
“Looking at all of this, you may have somehow been brough here from another planet... Or another world due to some sort of mix up.” Crowley tries to theorize.
And Yuuno couldn’t believe it. He thought this type of plot only existed in anime, and now it’s happening to him!
“What did you have on you when you came here? Do you happen to have anything that can verify your identity, like a diver license for a magic car, or a slipper...? You appear to be empty handed.” Crowly asked.
“Except for this wooden sword, I don’t have my wallet or phone...” Yuuno said as he was looking in his pockets. “I don’t even have my bag when I got here...”
“This is concerning...” Crowley commented. “I can’t just let someone who can’t use magic to stay at school.”
“That’s the main concern?!” Yuuno was taken aback at the wording. “There has to be some sort of place that I can stay here, I don’t care if I’m not a student! Surely, you have some place, right?
“Oh! Now that you mentioned it...” Crowley finally got the memo. “There is an unused building on campus that was once used as a dormitory in the past, so if you clean it up, you should at least be able to sleep there.”
“For the time being, I shall allow you to stay there! Then I will look for a way for you to return home.” Crowley declared. “My graciousness is limitless! I am a model for all educators.”
Yuuno felt a sweat drop. He thought that he shouldn’t be.
“We had better be on our way. Let’s head to the dormitory. It may be a bit old, but there is a certain charm to it.”
As they headed to the aforementioned building, it was shown to be... older and more run down than Yuuno had ever thought.
“That’s... too much charm.” Was the only thing that Yuuno could say about it.
“Right, right?” Crowley looked so happy about that comment somehow. “Please come inside.”
They step inside the building, and it didn’t improve in it’s condition. There were cobwebs on the objects, indicating they haven’t even been moved in a long time. The pictures were crooked, the wallpaper was torn and faded and there were multiple cracks and leaks in the walls, leading to some spots on the floor being wet.
In short, this place was unlivable.
“Staying here will at least keep you out of the rain.” Crowley said. “I’m going back to do more research, make yourself at home. And don’t go wondering around the school! Goodbye!” With that, Crowley left Yuuno to his own devices.
Yuuno sighed, hearing that part of not going around the school, he might as well be a prisoner. He looked outside, and the rain was already pouring down. Then, looked at the state of the lobby of the building.
“Guess I’ll have to clean if I really want to make myself at home...” Yuuno mumbled out loud. “Thankfully, these robes are only over my clothes, so I guess I’ll just wash them when I have the chance to...”
“Eep! It’s really coming down!”
A sudden familiar voice made Yuuno turn his head to the door to see the all so familiar cat that almost burned the chamber down.
“Gyahaha! Sneaking back into the school again is easy-peasy for me. No sweat.” Grim said. “If you think getting thrown out is gonna make me give up on getting in, you’ve got another thing coming!”
Yuuno would like to confront the cat, but he saw that there wouldn’t really be a point on pushing it further. So instead he asks about Grim’s motives.
“Why are you so eager to get into this school?” Yuuno asked.
“That’s simple! I’m a genius who’s destined to be a great mage!” Grim explained, puffing his chest out. “I’ve been waiting for the Black Carriage to pick me up, but...” He was sulking for a moment, before getting really picky. “Hmph! The Dark Mirror just doesn’t have an eye for this.”
“So that’s why I came here on my own. Not letting me in would be a loss for the world! Humans just don’t get it.” Grim shrugged.
Then a water drop lands on him.
“Nyaa! So cold! The roof is leaking!” Grim yelped.
“Obviously...” Yuuno sighed.
And another one lands on Grim again.
“Fgyaaa! It keeps coming! My adorable ear fire is gonna go out at this rate!” He complained.
“We have to find a bucket if we want to somewhat deal with this.” Yuuno said.
“Well, magic should fix this leak up real quick.” Grim said, but not before grinning in a mean way. “Oh right, you can’t use magic? Pfft! You’re useless!”
“Why you...” Yuuno really wanted to spite him, since his patience is running thin with Grim. But once again, reasoning got the best of him and just decided to look for a bucket somewhere in the building.
He searched in the hallways, but couldn’t find anything else. Just more objects that have been neglected for far too long. Then he felt like the noises weren’t just coming from his footsteps.
“Hihihi... We haven’t had a guest in such a long time...”
Suddenly, ghosts appeared in front of Yuuno, who was startled at the sudden appearance.
“I’m itching for some action. Ihihihi!”
Grim, out of his own curiosity, went to where Yuuno was and when he saw the ghosts, he verbally freaked out. “Gyaaaaa!!! G-G-G-Ghooooooosssstttttssssss!!”
“The people living here got scared of us and left."
“We’ve been looking for more ghost pals. How about you guys?”
Grim immediately ran to Yuuno’s leg and started quivering. “Uuu, uuuuuh--! Grim the Great Magician isn’t scared of some ghosts!!!” Grim tried to blow fire at the ghosts, but missed.
“Where are you aiming?”
“Over here, over here! Heeheehee!”
“Shoot! Stop disappearing!” Grim was feeling frustrated. He fired more fire without a care about his surroundings, and almost set Yuuno’s scarf ablaze.
“Stop firing so blindly! You’ll burn the place down at this rate!” Yuuno tried to stop Grim.
“Shut up! Don’t try to give me orders!” But Grim was being very disobedient. Yuuno had to try and convince the cat to listen to him. He couldn’t deal with ghosts, since they’ll just faze through his sword. He wasn’t one to give out some sort of empty promise but...
“You might win the Headmaster’s favor if you drive them out.” Yuuno proposed. And that got Grim’s attention.
“I-I’m a genius. I can take care all of them by myself...” Grim stuttered, all while the ghosts were teasing him. “Bunch of cowards gangin’ up on us!”
Grim saw the situation, and decided to just take up Yuuno’s offer. “Grr... Hey, you! Tell me where the ghosts are!”
“Leave it to me!” Yuuno reassured. And as he spotted a ghost, he yelled. “On your left!” And on command, Grim fired out a fireball at his left side.
“Hott!!”
“I hit it! Alright, let’s chase them all outta here!”
“Just remember to not burn down the place!”
“That concludes the Heartslabyul Orientation and Guided Tour, now make sure that you all follow the curfew, or it is off with your head!” Riddle’s voice echoed throughout the room.
“Yes, Dorm Head Riddle!” The new students said in unison.
Though, two students caught something in their vision... A brunette just somehow, sleeping through the whole thing.
“Is that guy sleeping standing up?”
“How did Riddle not catch him?”
“Did he... just draw fake eyes?”
And sure enough, on Judai’s face, were drawn on eyes. The two students tried to shake him awake, and they were successful.
“Uagh...? Is it over already...?” Judai sleepily asked, as he rubbed it off his eyes.
“If you mean the orientation, then yeah. You should go back to your assigned room before Riddle-senpai gets your head...”
“I will climb the dorm this time!” Yuma put his fist up in the air as he declared.
“Kid, I don’t know if you can do it.” Another freshman he befriended named Jack Howl said. “You’ve fallen enough times to normally break a bone or two.”
“But you have to admit, I’m getting closer!” Yuma said. “Watch me! This time, I’ll make it to the top!” He yelled as he makes his attempt of climbing the rocky architecture of the Savanaclaw, and this time, other students saw him get closer and closer to the top.
“How did the kid get on top of the dorm?!”
“He’s not even a monkey beastman!”
Ruggie stopped in his tracks and saw what his fellow dorm mates were talking about. And wow, they weren’t lying. Some human kid really did make it to the top of the dorm.
“I’ll admit... human’s got guts.” Jack commented on the side.
But what no one had ever expected was Yuma jumping down.
“I’m gonna bring it to ‘em!”
“That new student just fixed all of the ovens...”
“And the refrigerator...”
Azul looked closer, and lo and behold, he saw a busy Yusei currently fixing the lights that are floating above the tables. He was glad, since that he observed that Yusei didn’t even need a monetary exchange for his services.
“I am quite grateful to you, Yusei-san. You saved us quite a bit of Madol on repairs and replacements before we reopen for the school year.”
Yusei just nodded in response to Azul’s gratitude.
The welcome feast in Scarabia was in full swing, and Yuya was feeling way better now. So much so, he became the ringmaster of this festival.
“Gentlemen, if you please?” He offered a few tricks to show off, and all the Scarabia students gave him applause.
“Man, that kid’s got so much energy! I’m gonna join him!” Kalim was rearing to join in on Yuya’s trick showcase and perhaps even dance, but someone else was begging him not to...
“Kalim, please no!” Jamil tried to stop him, but he sighed as he saw the ever-so energetic Kalim have way too much fun with Yuya.
Yugi was impressed at the architecture of his Dorm, but as much as he wants to appreciate small things like that, he was worried that his recognizable image would be identified in this place. Which was why that during the whole dorm tour was just him with the robe’s hood covering his head.
Their last stop was the dining hall that was full of several long tables with elaborate dish settings and the food that he had only seen Kaiba eat spread out.
“Monsieur...” An unknown voice seemed to call to Yugi, and so he looked. The source seemed to be a bob-cut blonde student. “Are you going to take your hood off? Orientation has ended already, you don’t need to keep it on.”
Suddenly, he felt the other student’s hands on the hood. “There’s no need to be shy, we’re all under the house of beauty after all!” And faster than Yugi could react, the student put his hood off.
The entire lobby went silent when they saw what was happening.
And Yugi never felt like he was dying slowly inside more than he was now.
“How much gel did that take?”
“There’s no way that is natural...”
The bob-cut student didn’t seem to mind the comments, but instead... “Marvelous! Roi de Posion, you must see this!”
“What are you talking about Rook?” Roi de Posion, or better known as Vil Schoenheit, approached the duo and paused upon seeing Yugi’s hair.
“Now that is different... is all of that natural?” Vil asked.
“Yes...” Although it was unbelievable, Yugi explained that the amount of potential school violations he could’ve gotten from his hair was... well a lot. And every time he was called in, his grandfather had to prove that it was meant to be like that.
“Well, such nonsense rules do not exist here, so you may relax about that... but I will insist that you keep it in a tidier manner...” Vil said and Yugi couldn’t help but chuckle to that statement.
“You won’t belive how many times I’ve tried.”
“Not with that attitude...” Vil answered and pulled a hair brush and hair products from somewhere. And Rook pulled a chair from the table and shoved Yugi into it then clapped to call everyone’s attention.
That turned into a small impromptu class from Vil about on styling hair, ending with Yugi’s hair being in a ponytail.
It wasn’t even a full day in the Ignihyde dorm, and Yusaku already found issues with it. He already managed to hack into the dorm’s main database, which he compared it to SOL Technologies’ own security. Which was complex, but not complex enough to stop him from looking through all the past student’s records.
He noted that this whole dorm doesn’t seem very talkative, and that they are clearly very technologically advanced compared to all the other dorms that he has heard from other students.
But in regards to the hacking of the dorm... the other students were quite concerned.
“Did he just hack the entire dorm?”
“It’s better not to question it...”
Idia was just watching from his tablet again, but right next to it was Ortho, watching the whole ordeal.
“Why did this year somehow spawn an ultra-high level freshman out of nowhere...?” Idia pondered.
“But look on the bright side, Big Brother, you finally have a potential candidate for Vice Head!” Ortho said.
“HIIIII!!! Ortho... Did you see his stare... it’s like staring at the secret boss of Monster Reaver...” Ortho sighed and gave a pensive look. Surely, he could have some courage to put Yusaku up as a candidate for Vice Head sometime...
“WAAAKAAAAA-SAAMMMAAAAAAAAAAA!!” Sebek’s shouting echoed throughout the outside of the dorm.
“Don’t worry Sebek!” Yuga came in rushing in, catching up to Sebek. “This Road will definitely find him!” He said as he was holding up some sort of radar-like device, constantly beeping.
“Hmm... This should be set up to seek out really high magic...” Yuga was waving around the device for a little bit, until the beeping was getting faster. “Oh! He might be here!” Yuga ran off, before Sebek could scold the boy.
They ran until they saw a tall man with the uniform of the Diasomnia dorm with horns on his head. Yuga doesn’t seem to recognize the man, but Sebek did.
“WAKA-SAMA!” This seemed to catch the man’s attention as he turned and see the approaching duo.
“Ah, Sebek. I see you have arrived.” Then the man turned to look at Yuga. “Oh? Have you already made a new companion?” Then all of a sudden, he looked like he just remembered something. “Wait, does this mean that I missed the invite for the Entrance Ceremony?”
Sebek refused to elaborate on that, so Yuga took the chance.
“It happened a while ago...” Yuga explained. “We were just exploring the dorm, when Lilia-san asked Sebek to come and find you...”
“Ah... I see...” The man had a solemn yet sad face on him. “So I missed an invitation again...”
“HUMAN! LOOK AT WHAT YOU HAVE DONE, YOU MADE WAKA-SAMA FEEL SADNESS!” Sebek yelled at Yuga.
“Uh...? Isn’t it normal to feel sad when you missed an invite?” Yuga asked.
