Jisung reluctantly opened his eyes, turned off his alarm and checked his phone.
As usual lately, he had received a text from Felix.

Habit I guess, I used to go practice before classes back in high school. Anyways I don’t know if u remember, but my friend Doyoung is coming to visit today! Would u like to have lunch with us ?! I’d really love for u to meet him!
Jisung had forgotten it was today, to be honest, but he knew Felix was very excited to be reunited with his high school best friend so he agreed happily.

Sure ! Let’s meet at the barbecue place near the dance studio at 12:30 ! Can’t wait !
Jisung locked his phone and started to get ready. His class wasn’t starting until 10am, but he promised Chan and Changbin he’d pass by the studio to work a bit with them on their mixtape.

At the studio, after finishing working on their second song, all 3 needed a well deserved break so they started chatting.
« Oh by the way, I am having lunch with Felix at the barbecue place near the dance studio if you guys want to come ? », offered Jisung.
« No thanks », chuckled Changbin, « We wouldn’t want to intrude on your date. »
Jisung rolled his eyes at the running joke they always made about him and Felix dating.
« Don’t be stupid, plus his best friend from high school is coming !
« Getting jealous Jisungah ? », teased Chan.
« No, why would I ? », asked Jisung, honestly perplexed.
Chan and Changbin simply laughed and started talking about the next song.
Jisung didn’t think more about it until he was sitting in class. Why would he be jealous of Felix’s high school best friend ? People were allowed to have several best friends, surely. He himself was very close with Chan and Changbin despite considering Felix as his best friend and Felix wouldn’t be jealous of that. He couldn’t understand why Chan had said that and why he kept thinking about it.
Jisung discarded the thought and focused on his class.

Jisung spotted Felix in front of the restaurant and he approached him with a smile.
« Hey Felix ! », he exclaimed.
« JISUNG ! », Felix squealed and hugged him. They talked a bit before Felix’s face lit up and he ran towards a black haired boy taller than him. He hugged him and started talking to him excitedly. Jisung felt a pinch in his stomach. Ok, maybe he was a little bit jealous that Felix had another best friend he’d known longer...
Both walked towards Jisung, smiling and chatting.
« This is Doyoung. Doyoung, this is Jisung, my boyfriend », he added casually, « shall we go ? »
Jisung froze. He barely registered Doyoung greeting him and he greeted him back by pure reflex.
His WHAT now ?
Jisung followed Felix and Doyoung into the restaurant but his mind was spiralling. He was his what ?! Boyfriend ?! Why would Felix say that to his high school best friend ? Sure, when they were in their friends group, he would run along with their stupid jokes, but Jisung didn’t know Doyoung.
His thoughts were interrupted by Felix’s voice.
« Jisung, you ok ? You’ve been awfully quiet. »
« Uhm, yeah, sorry, thinking about the songs we’re working on with the hyungs. », Jisung said, hoping Felix wouldn’t be able to see through his lie.
He truly had to get a grip on himself.
The rest of the lunch passed in a blur, with Felix and Doyoung making most of the conversation, Jisung not being able to focus much.
His afternoon class was torture. It was always torture, to be honest. Why did he even sign up for an economics class? Today was even harder to focus as he kept thinking about Felix calling him his boyfriend.
After much consideration, Jisung came to the conclusion that Felix had probably told Doyoung about the joke their friends never got tired of and said it in a joking way.
It had to be it, there was no other explanation.

On the evening, instead of watching a movie with Chan and Changbin, Jisung decided to review his notes from the economics class, or better said, the lack of notes. He tried to find some information online to complete them. He could NOT fail this class, there was no way in hell he would retake it.
His phone pinged and Jisung checked it, just to see a message from Felix

Jisung didn’t really know how to answer. He didn’t want Felix to make fun of him for panicking over a silly joke.

Jisung hesitated, still confused with what happened at lunch.

Jisung’s eyes widened. Babe ???? Ok, Felix was definitely acting like they were dating and Jisung couldn’t figure out why. He checked their old messages and he growled internally when he spotted the moment he changed his behavior.
It was 3 weeks ago, the day after a party at Hyunjin, Seungmin and Jeongin’s flat, they were all a bit drunk and their friends kept joking about how Felix and him were acting like a couple. To play along with the joke, Jisung had kissed Felix. It was nothing more than a peck on the lips, but sure enough the texts after that day were including little nicknames usually used by couples.
Now that he actually thought about it, Jisung realized that since that day Felix had been a little more touchy, had sent texts more often and had kissed him a few times at other parties.
Jisung couldn’t believe this, how could he have been dating his best friend for 3 week without realizing it ?!
He had to talk to Felix, to clear things out.

Sorry, I was focused on my homework. Sure, I can come watch the 3 of you dance ! I need to keep studying, see you tomorrow !
Jisung turned off his phone. He needed to be in a clear state of mind to come up with an explanation to tell Felix tomorrow. He wanted to clear the misunderstanding, but he definitely wanted to avoid hurting Felix and also keep their friendship intact as it was too precious to him.

That night, Jisung barely slept, as his mind kept buzzing about the situation he was in. He couldn’t see a way out without hurting Felix’s feelings.
When his alarm rang, he felt anxious and jumpy and he still had no idea what to tell Felix to fix whatever happened at that party 3 weeks ago.
He arrived a bit late at the dance studio. Felix, Minho and Hyunjin had already started to warm up.
He entered the room silently and sat on one of the benches. He waved at Felix, who waved back. Thankfully, Minho was rather strict on their trainings so he knew Felix wouldn’t try to come talk to him right away. At least he would have an hour to think about what he would say.
While watching them, Jisung remembered how their groups of friends met. Changbin had met Seungmin while working on a song for which he wanted a certain type of vocals, as he wasn’t satisfied with the way Chan’s or Jisung’s voice fitted the song. Chan was a mentor for Jeongin during his integration week. Felix had contacted Jisung when he wanted an original song for a dance homework. Jisung had then met Hyunjin and Minho and others from their class. Then one day, they all found themselves at a party at Jeongin, Hyunjin and Seungmin’s place and the rest was history.
The 3 dancers finished warming up and started their choreography. Jisung recognised the song, it was one Chan had composed not long ago, probably at their request actually.
As Jisung was watching the 3 dance, he suddenly realized he couldn’t keep his eyes off of Felix. Sure, he had always known Felix was beautiful, but until right now his brain hadn’t registered how hot he was. As much as he tried to also look at the other 2 to get a view of the whole performance, his eyes would always return to Felix. He started to shift uncomfortably on the bench and he could feel his face get red.
His mind was blank and watching Felix dance was definitely not helping Jisung figure out how to end a relationship he didn’t even know existed in the first place.
At last, they finished practicing and the 3 seemed content with their progress with the choreography.
«so Jisung, what did you think ?! » asked Felix excitedly.
«uhm, you- you were all really good » managed to answer Jisung.
« liar, you were only looking at Felix. » Hyunjin scoffed.
Jisung felt the blush creeping on his face and cursed himself mentally. Felix just smiled and got closer to him, causing Jisung to panic. Luckily for him, Hyunjin and Minho started to make loud fake gagging noises. Felix glanced at them and blushed.
« I am going to shower and then we can go home to watch a movie ? » Felix asked. Jisung simply nodded.
The 3 left to shower and Jisung went to wait for Felix in the hallway.
He tried to rack his brain, thinking how he could tell Felix they were just friends. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t hear Felix arrive until he was right next to him.
« oh hey Fel… » At that moment Felix threw his arms around Jisung’s neck and kissed him. This time it wasn’t a chaste kiss like they shared at parties, there was a sort of fever to it, like Felix just couldn’t stop himself. Felix’s lips were so soft and Jisung could feel butterflies in his stomach. Without realizing, Jisung pulled Felix closer. At that Felix let out a little noise that made the butterflies in Jisung’s stomach fly in his whole body. When he felt Felix’s tongue it was like his brain finally managed to function again and he pushed Felix away abruptly, panting.
Jisung saw several emotions pass through Felix’s eyes : frustration, disappointment, worry. He didn’t know how to analyze those and even less what he himself was feeling.
« sorry… I… sorry » mumbled Jisung.
Felix smiled fondly at him.
« it’s ok baby, let’s go watch that movie », answered Felix, grabbing Jisung’s hand and tagging him along.

They were sitting on the couch, watching a movie Felix had chosen, but Jisung couldn’t focus. He kept thinking again and again to all the emotions he felt earlier. He couldn’t deny he enjoyed kissing Felix. It came as a shock to him, because he could never picture himself wanting to kiss Chan or Changbin, but glancing at Felix he felt the wish to do it again.
Since Felix already thought they were dating, surely there wouldn’t be any harm into trying to figure out what he was feeling before talking to Felix about the whole misunderstanding, right ?
Feeling a bit braver with this thought, Jisung turned to Felix but the blonde boy was too focused on the movie to realize Jisung was staring at him. Before his courage could leave him, Jisung tugged Felix’s shirt.
« yeah Ji ? » Felix asked absentmindedly.
« could we… uhm.. could we.. like… uh… maybe… kiss again ? » Jisung stuttered.
Felix’s head spun so fast towards him that Jisung was scared he would hurt his neck. Before he could say anything else, Felix climbed on his lap, cupped his face and started to lower his head. Jisung’s heart started beating so fast that Felix probably noticed because he stopped and checked on him. He was so close that Jisung could feel Felix’s breath brushing his lips. Intoxicated by the idea of kissing him again, Jisung closed the little distance between their lips. At first it was soft, Jisung could feel the warmth spread in his body, but then Felix deepened the kiss and Jisung instantly melted into it.
Jisung lost track of time, all that mattered was their kiss and how it somehow felt so right.
Eventually, Felix backed away, watching Jisung fondly and started chuckling.
« are you laughing at me ? » asked Jisung, slightly hurt.
« no no, I’m just so happy Sungie ! » beamed Felix.
He installed himself next to Jisung and laid his head on his shoulder to keep watching the movie.
There was no chance in hell Jisung would focus on the movie now, he was fucked fucked fucked, because kissing Felix felt too good to be considered just a friendly act.

The following week had been a mixture of going to classes, exchanging texts with Felix, working on their mixtape with Chan and Changbin, hanging out with Felix, and kissing Felix - lots of kissing. It’s like they needed to kiss a minimum amount of time during the day to be able to breathe properly.
He was in the studio with Chan and Changbin when he received a text from Felix.

Jisung froze. He had forgotten all about the whole misunderstanding, too engrossed in his new affection for Felix. He groaned and started banging his head on the table.
« whoa whoa, stop we kinda need that brain of yours to finish our mixtape » said Changbin while stopping Jisung’s head to hit the table again.
« what’s happening ? » asked Chan.
« I… I think I’m in love with Felix… » whisperered Jisung.
Chan and Changbin exchanged puzzled looks.
« well I would hope so ? He’s your boyfriend ? » said Chan.
Jisung started banging his head again until Changbin stopped him, again, and brought him to the nearby sofa.
« did you two fight ? » asked Changbin
« no… ok… promise not to laugh ? » asked Jisung.
-« of course » answered Chan at the same time Changbin said « can’t promise ». Chan glared at Changbin who winked at him.
Jisung took a deep breath and started explaining.
« well uhm… up until a week ago, I didn’t exactly… well… realize that I was somehow dating Felix ? I thought the little pecks we exchanged at parties were just for fooling around… »
« you’re telling me.. you two were already acting so much as a couple that you didn’t realize you had started dating ?! » asked Chan dumbfounded.
Jisung simply nodded and Changbin erupted in laughter. Chan tried his best not to laugh, but he couldn’t stop himself in the end.
« you promised !!! Stop ! It’s not funny! » whined Jisung.
« I mean, it’s a bit embarrassing, but it doesn’t matter now, right ? You’re in love with him and you are dating so everything’s good, right ? » asked Changbin, trying to calm his laughter.
Jisung sighed and showed them Felix’s text.
« it’s been a month for him ! It just feels wrong to not be honest with him. »
« just explain to him then, it’s not like you had realized you didn’t like him or anything » Chan said.
« I guess you’re right… »
But Jisung didn’t know how he could admit this to Felix without looking like a complete idiot. And it was now very important to him to appear cool in front of Felix…
The 3 boys returned to working on their music.
Once he was back in his room, Jisung texted Felix back, he couldn’t just leave his message on read.

Hey Lixie ! Happy 1 month ♥️do you want to meet up tomorrow ?
Felix answered right away and they made plans to meet up at his place for a movie and then go to dinner.
Jisung took the decision to talk to him tomorrow about the whole misunderstanding. With that new resolve, Jisung went to bed with a peaceful mind.

The next day, Jisung was starting to panic, walking towards Felix and Minho’s flat. The more he thought about it, the less he knew how to explain the situation without hurting Felix’s feelings.
Once he arrived, he took a deep breath and knocked. Felix opened the door in a second, almost as if he was waiting near the door for him.
« Ji !!!! Happy one month baby ! », yelled Felix before embracing Jisung.
Jisung hugged him back until Felix let go of him to let him enter the apartment.
Jisung was more than content to let Felix chatter excitedly about the movies they could pick and the place they’d go to dinner. Jisung would smile and nod here and there but couldn’t really talk as much, he felt like a lump was stuck in his throat.
If Felix noticed, he didn’t say anything, so Jisung truly hoped he was too excited to realize his boyfriend’s behavior was off.
They cuddled on the couch after choosing a movie - Howl’s moving Castle, one of Jisung’s favourite - but Jisung could barely focus on the movie. Deep in his thoughts he hadn’t even realized he was playing with Felix’s hair until the blonde boy turned around to look at him.
« You’re ok babe ? », asked Felix.
« Yeah sorry », answered Jisung, « just thinking of how pretty you look today. »
Felix beamed, blushed and turned back towards the TV. Jisung sighed silently, he had to stop acting so weird or Felix would get suspicious.
Jisung kept trying to figure out when would be the right time to explain the situation to Felix. At the end of movie ? Before dinner ? During dinner ? After dinner ?
He kept pushing back, again and again, until suddenly the evening was over, he was kissing Felix goodnight and walking back to his place.
Back home, Chan and Changbin were watching a movie. They greeted him when he entered the living room.
« Hey Ji ! How was your date with Felix ? Did you finally tell him ? » asked Chan. Jisung felt so ashamed for not being able to come clean to the boy he was falling in love with that he almost wanted to cry.
When he saw Jisung’s face, he sighed.
« You’ll have to tell him eventually », Chan said gently.
« Why ? » asked Changbin. After being met with incredulous looks from Jisung and Chan, he added « I mean, you are dating, you love him, why does it matter that you fell for him later ? Is it really necessary to maybe hurt his feelings ? ».
Jisung nodded, maybe Changbin was right. Why should he risk his relationship now that he was in love ? Ok it happened 3 weeks late, but better late than never, right ?
« You are not seriously thinking of listening to Changbin’s advice ?! », exclaimed Chan.
« Why not ?! » retorted Changbin in an outraged voice.
« Communication and honesty are keys in a relationship ! » said Chan. Changbin turned back to the TV.
« Whatever, I don’t care. You do you Jisung. »
Chan kept looking at Jisung intently and he avoided his gaze.
He was tempted to listen to Changbin to avoid a tricky situation but deep down he knew Chan was right.
« I’ll think about it. Good night », Jisung said before going to his room.

The next 2 weeks, Jisung still hadn’t decided what to do so he chose what anyone in his shoes would have done : avoid Felix.
All week he managed to pretend being busy with homeworks or music to avoid seeing his boyfriend. They kept texting but he could sense Felix getting a bit hurt and he felt so guilty. But what could he do until he decided what would be his course of action ?!

Changbin had mentioned it actually and Jisung knew it would be too suspicious to not go. He’ll have to find a way of how to act around Felix.

Jisung felt a ping of shame. He was missing Felix too and he hated himself for this messy situation.

Jisung froze. They hadn’t actually talked about their feelings yet.
Should he answer ? Or should he wait until he came clean about the beginning of their relationship ?
Despite the uneasy feeling in his gut, Jisung also couldn’t help himself from re-reading the message, giggling and kicking his feet a little.
He fell asleep, torn between feeling ashamed and utterly giddy.

On Saturday, Jisung, Chan and Changbin arrived at their friend’s place first.
They were helping them prepare the food and drinks while chatting when Hyunjin nudged Jisung.
« Hey Ji, tell me if I’m overstepping but is something going on ? »
Jisung looked at him confused.
« No, why ? »
Hyunjin looked down and played with the hem of his shirt.
« Well, I know you’re like… shy and not the very touchy kind of person », he chuckled, « that kinda drove Felix crazy at first because he was scared you didn’t really care and would break up with him. But then you actually opened up somehow ? », Hyunjin paused, thinkin, « Like when you came to watch us dance and you couldn’t get your eyes off Felix, you have no idea how happy that made him feel ! And you were finally cool with PDA and stuff. But lately it’s like you’ve been avoiding him and that stresses him a lot. »
Jisung felt terrible, he had hoped Felix hadn’t noticed he was actively avoiding him. He couldn’t meet Hyunjin’s gaze, afraid he’ll start crying.
« You’re not actually going to break up with him, are you ?! », asked Hyunjin, horrified.
« What ?! No, I'm in love with him ! » exclaimed Jisung without a second thought.
« Ooooh », cooed Hyunjin.
Jisung blushed and turned his back to Hyunjin, which made him laugh (which made Jisung blush even more). He couldn’t believe he had told that to Hyunjin before Felix. Sure he sort of already told Chan and Changbin, but it felt different at that time.
Hyunjin was about to talk again but he was stopped by the arrival of Minho and Felix.
While everyone was greeting them, Jisung kept chopping some veggies.
Suddenly he felt arms around him, Felix back hugging him.
« Hey baby », Felix whispered in Jisung’s ear.
Jisung couldn’t help his smile. He turned his head a little to meet Felix’s eyes.
« Hi Lix », he said softly and then, because he had really really really missed him, Jisung kissed him gently.
Felix melted into the kiss, Jisung turned around in his arms to be able to deepen the kiss more properly. Felix sighed with contentment, Jisung couldn’t help himself and caught Felix’s waist to bring him closer.
They were stopped by Seungmin’s loud, obviously fake, cough.
« If you two lovebirds are done, we’re going to need those carrots Jisung. »
Jisung smiled and let go of Felix so he could bring said carrots to Seungmin.
The rest of the evening went fine, all chatting nicely.
When everyone was starting to get ready to go home, Jisung felt a bit braver, probably thanks to the alcohol he had during dinner, and took Felix aside.
« Lix, I need to talk to you. Could we maybe meet tomorrow afternoon ? At yours or mine ? »
Felix tensed and searched Jisung’s eyes for an indication of what this could be.
« ok… » he answered, almost unsure.
Jisung smiled, hoping to reassure Felix by doing so and quickly kissed him.
« Great ! Good night babe, see you tomorrow ! »
Feeling lighter, Jisung joined Chan and Changbin to say his goodbyes to their friends before going home.

The next morning, Jisung felt much less sure of his decision. He groaned, blamed alchohol, whined and considered faking being sick.
« Stop this ! » interrupted Chan, « just go there, tell him the truth and be done with it ! »
Jisung sighed, he knew Chan was right but he was still scared. What if Felix felt so betrayed he’d break up with him ?!
Alas, he has no choice now, so reluctantly he texted Felix.

Jisung was surprised by Felix’s answer. It felt so… dry ? Gosh he was probably very worried, just like Hyunjin had said ! And now Jisung was banging his head on the dining table feeling so guilty for stressing Felix.
« What the fuck ?! », screamed Chan, stopping Jisung from continuing banging his head.
Changbin entered the room.
« Could you seriously make less noise in the morning ? I was sleeping. »
« It’s 2pm » answered Chan, with a very much judging look.
Changbin just shrugged and went to get a cup of coffee.
Jisung finished getting ready and walked towards Felix’s place, still unsure on how to explain the situation.
When he arrived, Felix opened with a forced smile.
« Come in, Ji. »
« Where’s Minho ? », Jisung asked.
« He went to the studio to practice » answered Felix, then he remained silent, which was unusual for Felix, usually a chatter box.
Jisung felt uncomfortable, standing in the entryway with Felix avoiding meeting his eyes. Jisung took a deep breath and gently took Felix’s hand.
« Should we go sit ? »
Felix nodded and led him to the couch, still avoiding his gaze.
They sat in silence for a few minutes until Jisung finally opened his mouth.
« So… » he started.
« Are you breaking up with me ? » interrupted Felix.
Jisung looked at him, stunned.
« What ? No ! Felix, no I do NOT want to break up with you at all ! » he said quickly. Before Felix could answer, he added « if anything I am scared you’ll break up with me once I tell you… », he stopped, now being the one to avoid Felix’s gaze.
Jisung suddenly felt Felix’s fingers holding his chin and turning his face towards him.
« What is it baby ? » Felix asked, so gently Jisung almost started crying. He steadied his breathing before talking.
« So you know that party when we kissed for the first time and you assumed we started dating ? » he knew he had fucked up his choice of words when he saw Felix frown. He quickly continued. « Well, I just… I didn’t really realize we had started dating ? It’s only when you introduced me as your boyfriend to your highschool best friend that I realized you had been acting different. And then I started to notice how you talked to me, were being touchy with me. And I noticed how hot you were. Like how could I have not noticed before ? I don’t know but… yeah. And then after that dance practice you kissed me and, I, uhm, I liked it. I liked it so much Felix. » Jisung could see Felix wanted to say something but he had to tell everything now that he started. He wanted Felix to understand he truly cared for him.
« Suddenly it was like kissing you was an essential part of my day. I always loved spending time with you but then I realized that the time spent with you was always the favourite part of my day. Whenever something happened to me, you are always the first one I want to tell. I love spending time with you, talking with you, looking at you, kissing you. Just… i love you Felix. I am in love with you. I am so sorry it took me a few weeks to realize, but I know now. I am in love with you, Lee Felix. »
At that, Jisung stopped talking, breathing loudly like he had run a marathon. He stared at Felix, who was staring him back, in shock.
Jisung didn’t know how long they stayed like this, until Felix started to laugh uncontrollably. He was holding his belly, tears rolling down his cheeks and he almost fell from the couch.
Safe to say Jisung was NOT expecting this reaction. He started pouting.
« I’m…. Sor… sorry », managed to say Felix, trying to calm his laughter.
Jisung had to wait a few more minutes for Felix to finally be able to talk without erupting in more laughter.
« You hadn’t realized we were dating ?! How ?! » did Felix finally ask.
« I don’t know », Jisung shrugged, « I guess the guys were saying the truth when they said we were acting like a couple. We didn’t really change our day to day way of being. »
Felix thought it over and nodded, staying silent.
Jisung played with his fingers, feeling suddenly very insecure.
« Is this… all you have to say about… well… what I told you ? », he asked, tentatively.
Felix suddenly widened his eyes, grabbed Jisung’s neck and kissed him. The kiss wasn’t soft, it was hungry, with a sense of urgency. When they had to breathe, Felix looked at Jisung with a fond smile.
