Notes:

Hi! I’m not entirely sure where this story is going yet, but I felt a strong urge to take part in this prompt where Tony is Harry’s father. This idea has been sitting in my drafts for a long time, and I finally decided to share what I have, why not?
English is not my first language (or even my second), and everything I know I learned on my own, so grammar may be a bit … shaky
I also don’t have much free time right now: I’m starting my master’s degree while finishing a second graduation, and dealing with ADHD and low motivation can make writing and finishing stories a challenge. Still, I’m doing my best to keep working on my ongoing projects.
I’m not great at descriptions or small talk, so some parts may feel a little rushed. I’ll probably come back later to edit and expand things when I can. Thank you for reading and for giving this story a chance

also:Considering euphemia dorea Potter nee black as Harry's grandmother, and not as a great aunt

Chapter 1: one

Chapter Text

Harry was mourning Sirius in his small room. Looking at the stars and feeling hollow and with his last hope of love and family crushed, he didn't want to do anything. This fucking war seemed pointless, people were dying for egos and pettiness.

 Fucking useless.

His godfather didn't even have the chance of being a free man one last time, he couldn't even freely walk to a park,  and had to spend horrible months in that awful place, with his mother shouting murder at any sound.

He should go to Grimmauld place and see if he could save anything from him, as memoir, one better than the fucking broken mirror.

Harry knew that Sirius was dead because of him, his impulse and stupidity made him lose his only chance of love.

Maybe he could burn the house down, as an apology goodbye.

Was the house empty? The order headquarters should change, right? Since the owner was dead.

Maybe he should check, just in case.

But did Sirius have other houses? The House of Blacks was a rich family, right? He had heard about how they were old and important. But if he did, why would he choose to stay in that decrypt dark house?

Harry should do something. He was the heir, wasn't he? There wasn't anyone with a last name Black, but he should be the heir to one, and his grandmother was a Black, wasn't she?

Maybe he should go to Gringotts…

Harry laid down on the bed, his head was pounding, his hands were shaking a little, and he did not even know why.

In the morning he would go to the bank, maybe going out of the house would be good for him.

In a miserable sleep, the mourning boy waited.

Harry was staring at the goblin teller, not knowing if he should say something or just wait for him to acknowledge Harry's presence. It was almost 9am, he had escaped after making breakfast and called the knight bus, wishing that his hair covered enough of his face, so an occupant wouldn't recognize him.

"Yes?" The goblin asked, staring with his little dark eyes.

"Oh, hi, just a question, my godfather died, and I don't know if there is something for me to inherit? I don't even know if I can go inside his house,"

The goblin kept staring at him with a stone face. Harry started to sweat, feeling his ears getting hot. Maybe he should have stayed at Privet Drive.

"And who would be your godfather?" The teller said, finally.

"Er… " Harry looked around, no one was paying attention to him, "Sirius Black" He said, softly, making sure that not even the teller next to them could hear.

"I see," Harry couldn't read the expression on the teller's face. "Follow me, Mr.?"

 "Potter"

 "Follow me, Mr. Potter"

So Harry did, they entered a corridor with goblins guards that paid no mind to them, and walked. They walked for so long that Harry was starting to feel his feet hurting. Finally, they stopped in front of a big red and gold door.

"This is the Black manager account office, Griphook, your bank manager will be coming shortly," the teller knocked and said something in what Harry imagined was gobbledegook, the door opened, and he gestured to Harry get in. He was passing the door when realized that the teller was not following, but turning away.

"Oh, ah thank you for the help, Mr. Teller"

Harry turned and entered the office, not seeing the pleased expression on the teller's face.

"Mr. Potter," the goblin in the office says, he had an expensive looking suit on, had bright red hair and a mean face. The room was mostly adorned with gold and red, a variety of paintings on the walls and a shelf with books. "I have been waiting for you for years,"

"What? Years? But Sirius died not long ago"

The goblin looked at him as if he was an idiot.

"Indeed, but Mr. Black's visit to Azkaban made you the primary benefactor,"

Harry stared at the manager, not knowing what to say.

"I take from your face that you did not know that," mumbling something in his breath, he pulled some parchment and started to separate them. Someone knocked at the door before entering, and Harry saw Griphook with a binder in his claw-like hands.

 "Manager Ironclaw, Mr. Potter,"

"Manager Griphook, please sit," Ironclaw pointed to the two chairs in front of his desk. "You too Potter, that's enough hovering in my office for a decade."

Harry felt his ears getting hot, and looked down, sitting quietly at the red chair. Both goblins exchanged papers and signatures before proceeding.

"Very well, why don't we start with the re-reading of the will, then we can analyse your bank movement,"

 Wait what.

"Will?" Harry asked, probably having heard wrong.

Ironclaw stared at him again, no humour in his face.

"Indeed, Mr. Potter, the will that you were notified but did not attend,"

 "What? No I-"

"Do we have a problem, Mr. Potter?" The Manager asked, cynically.

"Please call me Harry, but yes sir," Harry pushed his glasses back in place, "I never received any notification, ever"

"None? Not even the ones that I send every month?" Griphook asked, holding the binder strongly.

"Hm, no sir, I only receive sometimes letters from my friends,"

The goblins exchanged a look.

"Your magical guardian did not repass any of them? "

 Magical guardian?

 "Hm, sorry"

They started to talk in gobbledegook, and Harry could only look at his hands. Maybe he shouldn't have come, it was really not necessary, Sirius was dead anyway, and it is his fault.

"Harry," Ironclaw finally called,  "Who is your Magical Guardian?"

"Hm, I don't know? I never heard about one"

 Griphook took a deep breath.

"Who is the wizard that maintain constant contact with you since your parents dismiss?"

"No one," Harry shakes his head, "I only discovered Magic when my letter came, why?"

Harry was starting to feel scared, this did not seem normal, would they apprehend him if they thought he was lying?

"Just to be clear," Ironclaw said, using a dictation pen, "You never had any contact with any wizard before age eleven? You were never taught about the wizardry culture, or your responsibilities as an Heir for one Noble and Most Ancient House and one of the most influential houses of the century?"

 "No sir,"

"Alright," he waved a hand and the pen dropped, "Let's start with an inheritance test, and then proceed to the re-reading of the will,"

Harry nodded,  not knowing what else to do.

"Extend your left hand above this parchment" Griphook said, "I will cut your finger and let it drip five drops, is that clear?"

 "Yes sir,"

They proceed to cut his finger, and Harry almost didn't notice the writing being marked on the parchment. Before he could read anything, Griphook gave Ironclaw the document.

"Well, this is certainly not what I expected," the manager exclaims, looking surprised.

"What's wrong?" The boy asks, with trembling hands.

"Nothing is wrong, per se, but is not an Information that we had knowledge before," he extended the parchment in Harry's direction "here, have a look"

Harry took the document, not sure if he wanted to see. He looked at Griphook, who, seeing the despair of the boy, nodded encouragingly.

  Name:

 Hadrian James Potter Black

  Parents:

Biological mother: Lily Jade Potter née Evans (magical)

Biological father: Anthony Edward Stark (non-magical)

Blood adopted father: James Potter I (magical)

Blood adopted godfather: Sirius Black III (magical)

 Guardians/ possible guardians:

Anthony Edward Stark (non magical)

Alice Longbottom née Fortescue (Magical)

Remus Lupin (magical creature)

Petunia Dursley née Evans (non magical)

Kate Lolanthe Potter (magical)

 Heir: Potter, future Lord Potter

         Black, possible future Lord Black

Harry stared at the parchment. What the fuck.

 "I… my mom cheated?"

"Well," Griphook looked uncomfortable. "It Is possible that James Potter had difficulty conceiving, and they planned with another person. It's more common than people think, and the fact that he adopted you through blood means that he knew what was happening. He must have said something on his will, if you want we can open it."

"I would like that, but…" He took a deep breath, his hands were cold, his heart was heavy. "How is this will? You read it or is something magical?"

"Ah, it's magical, we hear the person speaking."

 Oh.

That would be the first time that he would listen to his father's voice.

No, he couldn't do that, not now, not when all he could hear at night was Sirius voice, he didn't need to add a new one to the nightmares.

"Can you-" he looked at the floor, "can you listen and tell me what he says? I don't think I can hear them right now"

 "Of course."

They waved their hands and completely silence was found on the office. After what it seemed like a long time, Griphook finished doing whatever he was doing.

"Alright, Ironclaw and I listened to the will of both your parents, and I was right. It wasn't cheating, they both wanted to the Potter family not get extinguished in the male branch, nor in Britain. You saw the name Kate Potter in your possible guardians, correct?"

"Yeah, I would ask that later,"

"I imagined so, she is the only 'main' branch Potter in adequate age to possibly be your guardian, she is obviously not a male, so she can't become Lady Potter, even being pureblood. Our records show that she is directly related to Abraham Potter, who was somewhat like your great great great uncle, but that's not the point now," Griphook looked at Ironclaw "She lives in North America, and apparently so does your father."

 "Damn,"

 "Yes, quite problematic,"

 Ironclaw pointed at the parchment.

"You are heir to the Black house,  intended Lord, and on Sirius will, he states that you are his direct heir, as we can see here, this makes you the primary heir and possible Lord until any of the others heirs have a male child. The Malfoy heir is your … rival, but as he is already heir to a Noble house, you are seen as more adequate, and you are the direct heir to a male Black, and patriarchal families always prefer male."

 "Malfoy?!"

"Indeed, his mother is a Black, and if you don't accept your role as intended heir, she would be the Temporary Lady of the house. We also have Mrs. Malfoy sisters, of whom only one is deemed mental stable, Mrs. Lestrange has an illegitimate child, but she is not even close to a heirship, but Andromeda Tonks was disowned."

"I know her, Sirius liked her,"

"I don't doubt, but if he was more responsible he would have accepted his Lordship, then he could reintroduce Mrs. Tonks to the family, and left her as Temporary Lady until her daughter had a boy… considering that Nymphadora Tonks has the Black family magic and abilities, she could be accepted as primary Heir without any problem. But he wasn't, so that's your job now."

 "Oh,"

Well, that's weird. What the bloody fuck he is supposed to do? Does he want to be a Lord? Does he really have a choice? Would his father want to meet him?

"I… do I need to decide these things now?"

"No, Mr. Potter, you are still underage. We can manoeuvre inside loopholes and make in a way that you just have to sign a paper upon your 17 anniversary, if you wish. But the sooner you decide things, the less paperwork we have."

Harry thinks is funny, all he wanted to know was If he could go inside Grimmauld place.

"We can decide this later, but we do have a big problem. You said that you don't have a Magical guardian, this means that we were lied to."

 "What? I didn't lie!"

"Not you, silly child. We have someone who had said for years that he was your Magical Guardian, he had control over your finances and proprietary gains. We just blocked that immediately after your statement,  but an investigation will have to be placed."

"Oh," that's weird, was he being robbed? "Who?"

 Both goblins exchanged a look.

 "Albus Dumbledore."
