Work Text:
Tord doesn't like to think about his feelings, but he's currently sitting on Edd's bed, drunk off his ass, and that's making it very difficult for him not to.
Especially when his dear British friend is a very affectionate drunk. Against his better judgment, Tord allows it.
"Y'know, you're kinda like a cat," Edd mumbles, words slightly slurred as he basically drapes himself over Tord.
"In what ways?" Tord replies with one eyebrow raised.
"Quiet," Edd says without hesitation, "kinda mean, fluffy..." There's a brief pause. "Cute."
Tord has to stop himself from gawking at that last remark. The hell does he mean by that?
"Cute?" He repeats, trying to sound more amused than flustered. He's sure he's failing, but assumes Edd's too drunk to notice.
"Mhm," Edd nods with a dumb grin on his face. "Your hair reminds me of cat ears," he laughs a little. "It's cute!"
...That manages to get an awkward little squeaking noise out of Tord. Faen, he mentally curses himself (or Edd? he's not sure). This man might actually be the death of him.
If Edd notices it, he doesn't say anything. Instead, he runs his hand through Tord's hair, still looking at him with that goofy grin.
Normally that kind of touch would freak Tord out, but he's honestly too drunk to care.
"Can I kiss you?" Edd blurts out after an awkward silence, cupping Tord's cheek with his hand.
What.
Tord interally panics. Obviously he wants to say yes, but like, this is weird, isn't it? Where did that even come from?
"Um," he struggles to find his words, looking around nervously.
Edd moves away slightly. "You can say no," he says quietly. "Sorry. I dunno, I just-"
"No, it's-" Tord lets out a sigh. "I just- Yeah, yes, you can-" It's his turn to slur his words, though it's more from how fast he's talking than from the alcohol. "Really, it's okay," he laughs awkwardly, scooting a little closer to Edd.
God. Tord does not know how to handle intimacy. Even less so than he does feelings. He can feel his heart pounding in his chest as he waits.
It's soft, the kiss - almost careful, he thinks? He hadn't realized how obvious his nervousness was, or at least that Edd was too wasted to notice it. He supposes he was wrong about that.
"Sorry," Edd says quickly when they separate. "I don't know why I did-"
He's cut off by Tord throwing his arms around his neck and kissing him again. He closes his eyes and reciprocates immediately, his own hands moving to hold onto Tord's waist.
It's a lot clumsier this time, but more passionate. Like letting out all those feelings that Tord's been keeping bottled up inside him for so long.
A few moments pass before Tord pulls away. "Um," he mumbles, looking down awkwardly. He had notbeen planning on doing that, like at all.
"Sooo..." Edd laughs nervously, also looking away, focusing his gaze on the wall instead. "Uh, yeah."
An awkward silence hangs in the air between them, neither finding the right words to say what's on their mind.
Tord honestly wishes they can just go back to business as usual like that didn't just happen and never unpack that. (He's not stupid, though, he knows that isn't going to happen.)
Edd breaks the silence by clearing his throat before saying, "I think I might be a little gay for you, dude," with a sheepish grin. "Maybe."
"Yeah, I can tell," Tord manages to stammer out. He's clearly a mess, fidgeting nervously where he's sitting.
But he scoots closer to Edd again to rest his head against his shoulder.
"...Talk about that tomorrow...?" Edd asks, humming softly.
"Yeah," Tord nods. "Tomorrow."
