Being annoying is its own flaw

Summary:

In the middle of the final fight, J decides she has had enough.

------------

This is just a spur of the moment oneshot.

Work Text:

"Okay," the Solver stated chipperly, not even looking at J. Of course the boss wouldn't. J didn't even care, looking around, trying to cover the boss's back.

Not like it cared.

The fog that the traitors and the toaster somehow raised was thicker than a ceo's salary. Her extra eyes were no us-

FWOOOSH

J just about dodged the green ray of the toaster's gun. One of her pigtails wasn't so lucky, though.

Ugh.

She tried her best to back the boss up, but the damned thing teleported around like it was on cocaine or something. It paid no attention to where she was, because of course it did not.

LIKE THROWING THAT SWORD!

J ducked just in time, watching the remnants of her pigtails float down. At least, until she felt a kick on her side and felt herself skid on the icy ground.

She managed to stop herself just before she fell into a chasm.

Watching the four drones fight, J gritted her teeth. This was pointless; this whole fight was just the boss having its fun before eating this rock.

There was no escape, not even in death. It would never let them go free, its 'deal' with V was just it twisting the knife in V's side further.

And now it had torn her hair to shreds, as collateral.

Oh fuck this.

J got up, flying into the fray. Just as the boss was tricking the toaster with an illusion of the moron. Clearly waiting for J to backstab the toaster.

Heh.

With her swords out, J struck.

"what" the Solver gagged, looking at the two swords poking out of its torso. J didn't mince words, no matter how much she wanted to offer some one-liner to it.

That had gotten her killed before, after all.

She kicked the monster off her swords, leaving it for the traitors to tear apart. She did, however, take the sword back.

It did not deserve to wield her sword.

J flew a few paces farther, trying to find her sword's ideal balance once more.

The pincers weren't going to offer her that, but J was faster. The sword cut them off with ease, as it should.

She would tear the Solver apart, not with the weapons it forced upon her. No, she was going to do it with her sword.

Swooping low, J cut off one of its legs. Feeling the sting of her wing being torn, she tried her best to land safely.

She skidded a few times on the ground before hitting a snowpile face-first.

Urgh.

Shaking the snow off, J looked over the battlefield. The toaster managed to punch the Solver right on its jaw. Good.

Now if she just-

Everything went still. The colour faded into shades of grey.

As soon as it began, it was over, a loud 'boom' making J's ears ring.

The toaster fell down, surrounded by masses of organic limbs.

Fuck.

J flew to it, pausing as V jumped in front of her.
"What the fuck was that, Narc?" her former coworker snapped. J resisted the urge to bare her teeth, but her tail still lashed.
"My resignation letter," she snapped back, trying to look over V's shoulder. The moron was there, trying to get the toaster to wake up.
"And you decided to defect in the middle of the fight, why?" V asked, glaring at her. J pointed at her poorly cut hair.
"Look at this, V. Tessa spent hours on getting this right," she stated, pushing V aside.

The moron was circling the toaster, looking desperate. J did not say anything, holding her sword tightly.

The toaster sat up, its body swallowing the organic parts. J tensed, seeing the yellow in its eyes. But she waited; this toaster had more guts than most. Maybe it could-

"Oh, I'm a damaged OC!" it crowed, and J relaxed as V declared it safe.

J stood there, watching the three cheer and joke around. Her legs failed her, and she fell to her knees.

It was actually over? They had won? The monster was no more?

Tears welled up in her eyes, and J didn't hide the loud sobs coming from her throat.

"Uh, corpo? You okay?" the toaster asked, approaching J.
"OhrobogodhI'maliveitsover," J got out, wiping her tears. Startling as V patted her back.
"Yeah yeah, it's over you mushball," she muttered, trying to fight back sniffles herself.
