Work Text:
The day I do it
I’ll head to school.
Deal with the stares.
One last time.
Kai will still laugh with me.
Not knowing this joke’ll be the last.
And, despite knowing this is the last.
I’ll laugh along too.
Because if I don’t laugh
What will i do?
The day I do it
Teachers will stare at me the same
Like I’m scum on the road
Or a piece of gum stuck to their shoe.
Nobody knows
what I’ll do in the dark of night.
They’ll probably cheer
Or whine just a slight
Then I’ll be lost forever.
Cole will lend me an album
Not knowing it will forever be unheard
Atleast by my ears.
The night I do it
Mom will kiss my forehead
And send me to bed
I want to tell her
But she doesn’t deserve that.
Her kiss is enough.
Dad won’t call,
Not until I’m long gone.
It’ll last a week,
The upset they all feel
And it’ll get tossed aside.
Maybe they’ll even feel relieved.
As I stand on the chair
Ready to kick it over
I think to myself
Was it worth it?
Staying alive this long?
