Work Text:

Alice was in her bedroom, relaxing on the bed and twirling her fingers absentmindedly throughout Jasper's golden blonde hair, reminiscing about the day that they met each other. It was their special tradition on Valentine's Day to look back and reflect on that day, after Alice got showered in gifts and flowers, of course. The lights were dimmed and candles were lit as the both of them were cuddled up to each other, with Jasper resting his head against Alice's chest.

“Darlin’, how did you know that I was your soul mate? Didn't your visions show you who I was and what I had done?” Jasper turned his head to face his wife, his amber eyes locking in with hers, his face looking sombre and slightly tilted with curiosity.

Alice was caught off guard with that question, as Jasper had never truly asked before, having always just accepted her visions at face value. In all truth and honesty, she didn't really know how to explain her visions to him, at least not in a way that he could fully grasp. “I did see those things, but I also saw glimpses of us in the far future and I didn't want to miss out on experiencing those moments with you.”

Jasper smiled affectionately at his wife and leaned in to give her a tender kiss on the lips. He could feel every single emotion that Alice was experiencing. Endearment. Love. Affection. Fondness. Nostalgia. Once he pulled away from her lips, he noticed that Alice had her eyes closed and her emotions were intensified.

“I had my mind already made up that I wanted to be with you even before you walked into that diner.” Alice's voice was soft as she recalled that specific memory, her eyes still closed and a shy grin on her lips. Her hand reached for Jasper's, interlocking their fingers together. “I've never told you this before, but I had seen a vision of us getting married. I was just waiting to meet you in person, knowing that my hopeful emotions would be enough to sway you.”

Jasper used his gift to send warm feelings and a touch of lust to his wife, then physically snuggled up closer to her. “The day we met and our wedding day are tied for the best day of my life.”

“Jazz, you're the best thing that ever happened to me. Decades upon decades of seeing you in my visions, getting to experience future memories before they happened, knowing that you were going to love me unconditionally. Yes, I knew about your less than ideal past, but I was willing to look beyond that and I saw that you would become a better person, which you did. I couldn't have asked for a better husband, you're not just my soul mate, you're also my best friend and I wouldn't change anything for it.”

When Alice finally opened her eyes, she was met with a teary-eyed Jasper. His emotions filled up the entire room. Love. Joy. Peace. He pulled her into a hug, as if to silently thank her. Jasper had his arms wrapped gently around Alice, holding her as close to him as possible without hurting her. The two of them truly did have such a special bond with one another and nothing would ever break it.

Once Jasper pulled away from the embrace, Alice caressed his left cheek with her right hand, taking note of how handsome her husband was. The glowing light from the candles reflected off of his skin, giving it a warm glow. His scars were mostly hidden, but the visible ones reflected the light a little differently, making it look like he had gold glitter on his skin. He was truly unique and beautiful, scars and all. Lastly, his eyes were such a pretty shade of gold, looking almost like a pair of exquisite opals.

“I bet you fell for me 'cause I'm so good lookin’.” Jasper's southern drawl had a playful tone to it as he teased his wife for staring at him. A slight smirk spread across his face, making Alice giggle slightly at how absurd he was being.

“Don't be so silly, Jazz…”

Jasper ended up getting playfully tackled and pinned down on the bed by Alice, causing the both of them to burst out into laughter. They both quickly calmed down and resumed cuddling, with Alice resting her head against Jasper's chest this time. It was his turn to play with her hair while they relaxed.

“I knew I loved you before I met you.”

Alice's words broke the pleasantly welcome silence, which made Jasper stop playing with her hair. He hadn't expected such a confession and was truly surprised, but he simply smiled at her and used his gift to echo her sentiments of adoration back at her. There was no need for words as there were simply not enough words for Jasper to describe how Alice made him feel.

The both of them gazed silently into one another's eyes, simply enjoying each other’s company. This was for sure one of their best Valentine's Days ever, nothing could beat it. They both stayed in each other’s arms, neither of them wanting this tender moment to end.

Alice finally broke the silence once more. “I love you so much, Jazz, I'm so glad that I got to have you. Thank you for letting me into your life.”

“Sugar, the day we met in the diner changed my life forever. For the first time, I finally knew what it was like to experience true love. You've probably seen dozens of visions of me sayin’ this, but I wanted to finally tell you with my own words.” Jasper gave Alice a quick peck on the lips. They were both madly in love with each other, nothing could destroy their bond. “Thank you for showin’ me what love is supposed to be and for savin’ me, Alice.”

Alice and Jasper both closed their eyes, continuing to cuddle with each other, relaxing on their bed. They remained that way until the candles burned out on their own, neither of them wanting to be away from the other. True love was hard to find, but for Alice and Jasper, they always had each other. They had forever together…
