Chapter Text
Spring 1815
Dearest Gentle Readers,
The hearts of all the single young women of the ton are breaking this season as one of the most eligible bachelors of our little ton has finally found the companion for which he intends to spend the rest of his days. But I am getting ahead of myself by thinking that I am not the first to bring you this news. Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pemberley in Derbyshire has wed a rather unknown to our ranks, a Mrs. Elizabeth Darcy nee Bennett. It appears, dear readers that Mr. Darcy met his bride while visiting his good friend, Mr. Charles Bingley who was staying in the nearby estate to the bride’s fathers in Hertfordshire. In a surprising turn, just as Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley have long been good friends, they are now to be brothers as Mr. Bingley has married Mrs. Darcy’s sister, Mrs. Jane Bingley nee Bennett. It is always an exciting start to the season when there are fresh new faces to meet. I’m sure that the first event attended by the new couple, for they are rumored to be attending Lady Danbury's start of season ball, will be highly anticipated.
As to who the single young women must now turn their sights. There are still two more eligible Bridgerton bachelors available, whom I’m sure their mother the Dowager Lady Violet is eager to have wed following the viscounts wedding at the end of last season…
Penelope Featherington just didn’t have the same zeal for writing her column as she did prior to the end of last season. She had lost her friendship with both Eloise and Colin on the same night. Now she just felt lonely. She was ready for something in her life to change. She just didn’t know what. Little did she know that the new Mrs. Darcy would facilitate the necessary changes.
