An out of order sign and a locked door

Summary:

"For you, chocolate thunder." A bright pink post-it note and a packet of love hearts appeared on Morgan's desk.

"A Hershey's kiss for Emily," Garcia continued on, placing another post-it and a foil wrapped chocolate on Prentiss' desk. "And a heart lollipop for my favourite genius."

"What's this for?" Reid asked, picking up the note and sweet treat.

"It's Valentine's day, boy wonder," Garcia exclaimed. "And I am here to spread some valentine's cheer and remind you all how much I love you." Garcia tapped a finger to Reid's nose affectionately, surprising him into a round of rapid blinking before a smile crept across his face.

Spencer Reid gets gifted a heart shaped lollipop. Derek Morgan has wildly inappropriate thoughts.

Work Text:

"Thanks Garcia," Reid murmured, looking up at her.

"You are most welcome," she replied, beaming back at him.

"Love you too, baby girl," Morgan called across the bullpen, bringing Garcia's smiling face his way before she headed off upstairs to continue spreading her cheer.

Morgan glanced back over at Reid. Reid's eyes were focused on the post-it, taking in the full weight of the little note before tucking it away carefully in the top drawer of his desk. He then proceeded to tug the plastic wrapper off of the lollipop and bring it up to his lips. A pink tongue peaked out and took a tentative lick. Then another. And another. With an upward quirk at the corners of his mouth, his lips parted. The sweet was pressed against his tongue and drawn it into his mouth, before lips closed around it, leaving nothing but the white plastic stem.

If Morgan hadn't already been feeling hot under the collar, the contented half-hum, half-groan that issued from Reid's throat a moment later would have sealed the deal. In actuality, a stirring had already settled into his gut as he watched Reid's tongue and lips exploring the treat. The borderline obscene sound had him choking on his mouthful of coffee. A whisper of a giggle issued from somewhere behind him as Morgan attempted to regain his composure. By the time he managed to draw a full breath and look around, the culprit had vanished - likely in a cloud of pink valentines day mischief.

That woman's gonna be the death of me, he thought to himself as he resolutely focused his eyes back on the case file before him.

The resolve didn't last long. Within a minute his gaze had wondered back up. Just in time to watch Reid adjust the sweet again, taking hold of the stem to suck hard, hollowing out his cheeks. Morgan watched his Adam's apple bob with every swallow. Despite how much Garcia's gift was hindering Morgan's productivity, it seemed to have no such effect on Reid, who was still looking down at the case file in front of him, his free hand skimming down the page as he read at lightning speed. Something seemed to pique his interest, as his hand ceased and his brows pulled together slightly. Absentmindedly, deep in thought, he pulled the lollipop out of his mouth. The red blob that remained on the end was glistening in the florescent lighting. As Reid's frown deepened, he began to tap the shiny, sticky sweet against his bottom lip, mouth slightly open.

When his tongue began to flick and swirl around the end, Morgan tapped out. There was no way he could sit and watch this any longer and still keep things suitable for work.

Shoving back his chair with perhaps more force than needed, he lept to his feet and grabbed his coffee cup as an excuse for his sudden departure. Without looking back, he made a beeline for the kitchenette, attempting to walk as normally as possible despite the slight obstruction in his pants that had began to make it's interest known.

Once in the sanctuary of the kitchen, he opted to brew a fresh pot of coffee. It would give him a good excuse to take at least ten minutes away from his desk. Surely Reid couldn't nurse his gift for longer than that, especially with the level of attention he was paying it.

"Can I get a top-up from that once it's finished?"

Reid's voice from behind him almost had Morgan jumping out of his skin. He'd been so absorbed in his thoughts that he'd entirely missed his approach. Spinning about, hands clutched at the counter top behind him in a death grip, he found Reid stood almost toe to toe with him. The bright red, shiny remnants of the lollipop was at eye height as it rested against Reid's slightly outstretched tongue.

Morgan swallowed

"Bathroom," he choked out, around a suddenly dry mouth, as a feeble explanation before he fled.

"Wait Morgan are you okay?" he heard Reid call as he practically sprinted away. Garcia almost became a casualty of his haste as she came around the corner, Morgan almost barreling into her as she appeared unexpectedly, mug in hand. Despite her squeak of protest he continued his escape. Apologies could come later when he had his desire back under control and there was no longer a risk of embarrassing himself and Reid in front of the whole office.

The bathroom was mercifully empty as he arrived and locked himself in one of the two stalls. Dropping the lid, Morgan slumped down onto it and put his head in his hands.

Get a grip man, it's just a lollipop. Have some self control, Christ.

Reid wasn't interested. If there hadn't been the Lila Archer incident, he'd have figured that Reid was entirely disinterested in sex. Perhaps he was, there'd been no one since then. Even if there was interest, it was clearly for women. Reid might be slight and beautiful, almost ethereal with his ridiculous cheekbones and intoxicating hands, but that didn't automatically make him interested in men. He might even be offended at the suggestion of it, affronted that Morgan would be so shallow as to resort to outdated stereotypes of gay men.

His friendship with Reid meant far too much for him to risk it on nothing more than a crush.

Taking a few deep breaths, allowing his chest to fully expand and relax over a count of ten, Morgan almost had his heart rate back to his baseline. As he steeled himself to get up and return to work the door into the bathroom swung open.

"Morgan?" A slightly tentative voice called out into the silence.

Morgan remained frozen in his seat, hoping that perhaps he could convince Reid the occupied cubicle wasn't him.

"Garcia saw you come in here," Reid murmured, closer now. Morgan flicked his eyes up to see Reid's well loved converse visible through the gap at the bottom of the door.

"Are-" he cut himself off with what sounded like a swallow. "Are you alright?"

"Of course kid," he replied, his assurance undermined by the croak in his voice from the dryness of his throat.

"Did I-" another swallow. "Did I do something wrong?" Reid's question was hesitant and Morgan could hear the anxiety underlying it all.

Of course the kid would think it was his fault somehow. He always assumed the worst of himself, took the responsibility for any miscommunication onto his shoulders. Reid was both acutely aware of his social shortcomings while also being totally oblivious and Morgan knew it made him fret at any perceived misstep. It was on him to fix this.

Pushing himself to his feet, he flushed the toilet out of habit and slid the lock of the cubical back. Reid stood on the other side, a few feet between them. He glanced up for a moment as the door swung wide before averting his gaze down to his shoes. Anxious hands twisted together in front of him.

"Lemme just?" he murmured, indicating past Reid to the bank of sinks. It felt right to wash his hands regardless before trying to console Reid. It also gave him half a minute to gather his thoughts as he lathered soap over his hands, rinsed, and dried them thoroughly on a paper towel. The trick shot he landed with the balled up napkin into the bin behind him seemed to ease a little of the tension, catching the slight quirk of Reid's mouth in the reflection before him.

Finally he turned and faced Reid, closing the space between them enough to lay a hand on his upper arm.

"You didn't do anything wrong, pretty boy," Morgan assured him gently, adding a squeeze to his grip to punctuate his point.

Reid's eyes met his, searching his face for any hint of a platitude. Morgan's words still didn't dispel the frown that tugged at his brows.

"You just... That is... You seemed-" he stumbled over a number of sentence starters without getting much further. "I thought I'd made you feel uncomfortable," he finally managed to blurt out.

"Uncomfortable how, kid?" Morgan probed, not wanting to deny that Reid had picked up on his unusual behaviour, but wanting to be sure before he risked disclosing his secret.

"With... with..." Reid sighed, seeming frustrated at his inability to formulate words. It was getting to him so much that he was starting to flush, colour pooling high in his cheeks. The desire to reach out and feel the heat there, to run his thumb over the pink hue and take Reid's face in his hands, cupping his jaw and pulling him down that extra inch between their heights to press his lips-

"It was Garcia's idea!"

Reid's high, hurried confession cut across Morgan's fantasy, bringing him back to earth with a bump.

"What was Garcia's idea?" Morgan asked, slowly.

"The lollipop," Reid breathed, looking back at Morgan with panic beginning to bloom across his face. "She-she said, she said it would, 'draw attention to your mouth in a way that chocolate thunder wouldn't be able to resist'."

That woman really would be the death of him.

"I'm sorry, it was entirely inappropriate, I never should have-"

His voice cut off as Morgan allowed himself the action he'd been pondering moments before.

Reid's jaw was slightly rough against Morgan's palm, but the apples of his cheek were smooth. As he ran his thumb back and forth the colour there deepened, radiating heat. As he dragged his gaze from Reid's lips to meet his hazel eyes he found them wide. The panic was still there, although it seemed to be melting away with each back and forth of Morgan's thumb. He watched as the hazel ring shrunk, swallowed up by the blackness of his pupils as Reid's eyes flickered down to Morgan's mouth.

Morgan waited for Reid to look back up once more, ensuring his full attention was focused on Morgan's words as he spoke.

"She was right."

Reid's tiny intake of breath was as loud as a gunshot in the tiny space between them.

"Can I kiss you?" Morgan asked, voice low in his chest.

"Please," Reid breathed with a tiny nod.

With the hand wrapped around Reid's jaw, Morgan guided Reid's face down as he pressed up. Reid went willingly, closing the space between their lips in an instant.

Morgan poured all of the longing of the past hour into the kiss. Spencer's long, dextrous fingers came up to clutch, one at the back of Morgan's neck, the other bunched in his t-shirt at his waist. Morgan let his free hand wonder to Spencer's hips, tugging him closer as he licked at his lower lip. A burst of sweetness played out across Morgan's tongue and the memory of exactly why had an involuntary groan bubbling up his throat.

Spencer seized the opportunity of Morgan's parted lips to press forward with a tongue that was intoxicatingly sugar sweet. The flavour of strawberries mixed with sugar, an undercurrent of overly sweet coffee and a flavour that was all him, melded together as Spencer kissed with all the fervour of a drowning man. If he'd known before now that Spencer could kiss like this, he'd never have waited so long.

A rattling at the bathroom door had them springing apart. Morgan was suddenly incredibly aware that they were practically devouring one another in the office bathroom. He made to step away, to attempt a façade of innocence, and hope whoever entered didn't look too closely at the colour on Reid's lips or the creases in his shirt.

However, Spencer held him fast, keeping him trapped hip to hip, and placing a finger over Morgan's lips.

"Seriously," came a grumbling voice from the other side of the door that sounded suspiciously like Anderson. The handle jiggled again but the door remained closed. A loud sigh was followed by the sound of retreating footsteps.

"Another of Garcia's ideas," Spencer murmured once the footsteps had retreated entirely. "An out of order sign and a locked door, just in case." The smile that crept across Spencer's kiss reddened lips was laced with mischief and a still simmering heat.

That woman would be the death of him.

"Remind me to buy her flowers for tomorrow," Morgan rumbled before pulling Spencer down into another searing kiss.

***

The following morning, Garcia arrived in her office to find a large bouquet of black and red roses, a still warm, heart shaped croissant and a Costco sized tub of heart shaped, strawberry lollipops.
