Chapter Text
Mizi did not expect someone new to show up at the rink.
She very much did not expect it to be the famous Sua. The Sua known for landing quads, despite her fairly obvious lack of muscle; known for sweeping through competitions with her technical scores while not sacrificing her artistry; known for her visuals, modelling career, and big fanbase (that Mizi was definitely not the president of).
She was Mizi's idol. And to be able to skate in the same competitions - the same rink - as her was a dream come true. She was overloaded with the possibilities that came with being in the vicinity of the Sua.
Mizi was in the middle of practicing her short program when she noticed the familiar black bob and violet eyes walk in through the entrance to the rink. Time seemed to stop then. Mizi was completely and utterly captivated. She could swear there were tiny hearts around her and her eyes were unable to look anywhere else besides at the black-haired woman. This seemed to cause a problem, where in her distracted state, Mizi hit her toe pick while going into the second jump of her combo, causing her to hit the ice with a thud.
"Hey- you good?" Another skater, Hyuna, stopped in front of where Mizi laid on the ice. She reached out a hand for the pink-haired woman to take.
"Yeah, just splendid. My ass hurts." Mizi's eyes scanned around the rink until golden eyes met violet. Her cheeks flushed red as she turned away as fast as she could. "Why did no one tell me that she was gonna be here?"
Hyuna raised an eyebrow. "It's been news for like weeks. Everyone's known."
"Well I didn't."
"Not my fault."
Mizi groaned and dragged her hands down her face. She peaked back over to the outer edges of the rink, where Sua now stood talking to another black-haired skater, Ivan. Weirdly, the two looked like siblings of some sort. They seemed friendly enough with each other, and Mizi was definitely friendly with Ivan. It was an opening!
The pink-haired woman brushed off the remnants of ice on her clothing before she skated over to where the two were talking.
"Ivan! There's someone new and you didn't introduce me? How mean." Mizi pouted at the male before giving a bright smile towards the shorter woman, "I'm Mizi, nice to meet you."
The experience of meeting her idol (and practically making a fool of herself time and time again) was not enough to rattle Mizi. Afterall, a competiton was coming up. Granted, it was a small one hosted as a charity for their rink, and might even be closer to an exhibition than a competition. But it was still a competition! Just because it wasn't as big as the other ones Mizi has competed in doesn't mean that she shouldn't try her hardest.
Day after day, Mizi spent all her free time practicing both of her programs. Fall after fall, she just got back up and kept going. By the end of the week, her entire body was bruised. But she loved the bruises and marks that she gained from skating. It just shows the dedication that she has towards the sport. Sua, on the other hand, looked pristine and delicate. From what Mizi had seen in the changerooms, she did not sport any bruises along her body. She was small and gentle; the exact opposite of Mizi.
Mizi finished another run-through of her free skate. Her breaths came out heavy as she stared at the bright lights of the ceiling. It was always a great feeling whenever she successfully completed her program, doesn't matter whether in practice or in competition. Her body felt tingly and she felt light-headed, but it felt great. Once the music ended, she heard applause coming from the boards.
Mizi let out a giggle as she skated over to where Sua waited, next to the sound system. "How was that? Pretty great, am I right?"
"It was good," the shorter girl replied, "but your triple salchow was under-rotated by quite a bit. And you dropped out of your triple loop, not enough speed or momentum going into it."
Mizi pouted at this and threw her arms around Sua. "But I did so good on the rest! Surely by next week, I'll stop popping out of it." She gripped the black-haired girl tightly, slightly shaking her side to side as she fished for praise.
It was only the two of them on the ice at this time. Hyuna was off with her boyfriend, and who the hell knows where Ivan and Till went off to. It was peaceful like this. There weren't any distractions available to them, just the presence of each other. Mizi loved whenever it was just them two.
Mizi swapped the phone connected to the sound system, unplugging her own and plugging in Sua's. "Okay okay, it's your turn!" She unlocked the other girls phone and went to play her short program music while shooing her away. Sua let out a chuckle, rolling her eyes, before she skated to her starting position.
Once the music started (a piece composed by Hyuna's boyfriend, "Ruler of My Heart"), Mizi could not take her eyes off of the girl who moved effortlessly around the rink. Every movement that Sua made was precise, her legs always outstretched and pointed, her jumps compact and fast, never under- or over-rotated. Her facial expressions were also perfect. The perfect combination between wanting and manipulating that left Mizi breathless.
This was the Sua that Mizi watched as a young girl, sitting with her parents, gathered in front of the television to watch the "pretty girl" as Mizi would call her. Sua was what made Mizi want to get into skating in the first place. Why she devoted so much of her free time and money to hopefully, one day, skate on the same stage with her idol. And now, it was finally possible.
When Mizi noticed the ending spin, she cheered loud, even though there was no other noises to drown out besides Sua's shallow breathing. "You did so good! You are so gonna beat me, maybe even Hyuna this time!" Mizi giggled.
"You praise me too much, my sister would say that I was too sloppy. My arms weren't perfect enough, that I cheated on my jumps." Sua scowled at the mention of her older sister. "She already hates that I swapped clubs and cut my hair."
"It's okay, it's okay. Come, let's get some barbeque, yeah?"
Sua gave the pink-haired girl a gentle smile, "Yes, please."
Mizi probably should have asked Sua if she could bring others on their barbeque dinner. She surely thought it would be fine. Afterall, their past few dinners have been just them two, so surely one night with the rest of their friends would be allowed.
The group of six sat at a long table with empty glasses scattered around. Mizi, by now, was on her third glass, while Sua could only handle one. While alcohol didn't really have an effect on the pink-haired girl, it seemed to really inhibit the older one, who was now clinging tightly onto Mizi's arm and glaring at anyone who dared open their mouth towards her.
Hyuna took notice of this, a smirk forming on her lips. "You two seem close," she said, "it's only been, like, a week since you met?"
Sua glared at the woman, her nails dug deeper into Mizi's arm and making her wince.
Mizi let out a giggle, patting Sua's hand reassuringly. "We just clicked!" She said. "We were bound for each other, I think. Like, I don't know what it is, but something just… draws me to her." She gazed down towards the older woman who was clinging on like a lost puppy.
Hyuna let out a noise of understanding before glancing down at her own boyfriend who was clinging just as tightly. "I know what you mean," she smiles.
"I… should probably get Sua home. She really cannot handle her alcohol," Mizi said. She got up to put her jacket on. Her arm was removed from Sua's deathgrip which lead to the black-haired woman letting out a small whine. "Yes, yes, I know. It'll only be a while," she said gently, patser woman's head with her hand.
Once both women were adequately dressed for the weather, they said their goodbyes to the group and started to head home.
"Did you really mean what you said in there?" Sua's voice was barely above a whisper. Her hands wrapped around the taller woman's arm tightly, as if she was afraid to fall if she let go.
"Huh?"
"Being bound for each other."
"Oh, yeah. Of course I meant it!" Mizi gave Sua a grin. "We're like soulmates! No matter what universe, we'll always be together." She reached her hand out towards the sky, staring distantly at the stars above.
"I think so too."
