Chapter Text

Matt stood straighter in his chair -the irony, sitting straighter while he was still being a gay mess- "Okay, new plan, I go up to him, you know like I usually do, I tell him I'm gay, he tells me he's gay, or bi or whatever, and then we kiss. What do we think of this?"

Steve put down the dishes he was currently washing, sighing. "See the first part isn't so bad I like the honesty, but I'd say the rest is... A bit... Unrealistic?" He smiled at his little brother, knowing this wasn't going to be of any importance to him.

''Unrealistic? I don't see how though; this seems like it could happen.'' Matt said pulling his legs together and covering his knees with his arms, balling himself up neatly on the chair, if Gus was here, he would tell him not to put his shoes on the chair, but fortunately for his own sake, he wasn't. They both stayed quiet for a few minutes, only the sound of water clapping about as Steve continued to scrub clean every piece of silverware they owned. It had been a few days since they started, to spend all of their free time tidying, cleaning and darting around in order to get the house as good looking as possible, ready for spring to start, and now, it was finally over.

“I like that you're trying your best with this, but unless you tell him you like him he'd never guess, I've never seen anybody more clueless in my life, you've gotta be honest with him Matt.”

Matt collapsed on the table, he knew his brother was right, of course he had to be more forward and not so cryptic, but, to be fair, it had taken enough time for him to tell himself he liked Gus, then telling his brother, so telling the other directly? No. That would be impossible. His brother wiped his hand and came to sit next to him, he chuckled lightly, thinking of the time, not so long ago, where he had been the one complaining to his friends about someone new each month.

"Let's think, doesn't he have friends that could tell you how to approach this maybe? If you're really too scared to talk to him that could be a way couldn't it? In my opinion you'd better just tell him communi-" But he didn't let him finish his sentence, Matt got up and ran upstairs, searching through his room, Steve's advices were always great, in fact, Matt knew exactly who to talk to. He found his cristal ball, and settled it on the window sill, then stared at it. For a few minutes. He realised, he didn't actually know who to talk to.

Willow hated his guts, and there was no saying that she wasn't for exemple practising flyer derby or reading or doing very important stuff which Matt definitely couldn't disrupt unless he wanted to end up being squashed between her hands like a watermelon –or at least he thought so, he’d talked only a few times with her and she had seemed like she was always angry each time she saw him, he couldn’t be bothered to figure out why-, he knew this wouldn't happen, but, he had to be careful still. Luz couldn't be trusted on answering the crystal ball either, because she hated him too and she was probably running errands in the city, in compagny of that weird dog of hers and Amity, all three of them had been helping repair the town after the "collector situation" as most adults called it now. Thinking about it, now that spring was back and this whole thing was over, he was going to be able to hang out at the looking glass graveyard with Gus again. His heart did a flip, he couldn’t wait for this to be back to normal actually. They hadn’t hung out a lot since being back to school despite being paired up together for illusion class, he seemed to have been quite busy, which checked out for the little prodigy of hexside and hero of the boiling isles. Still sucked though.

Speaking of the good old times, it made him laugh to think that a few months ago, he would never have allowed himself to be so excited to see him, but now, he didn't care all that much. It had been nice having a friend that he could be normal around. Well, as normal as one could be when he dreamt of cuddling and kissing with the other every night. So not that normal actually. As much as he wanted to appear impressive in front of Gus -he didn't know how it had taken so long for him to figure out why-, he couldn't help but just relax and drop the persona in his presence. It wasn't that bad. He was still staring at the crystal ball, settled nicely just in front of the window, behind the glass, the sun was starting to set, it was fun having a different view of the isles than what it had been before all of this. He could see the arm of the Titan, raising up towards the sky, middafternoon, it looked like it wanted to reach and catch the sun and some nights, a star settled on it.

It was a very peaceful moment, his room had just been cleaned and tidied up, he was on his knees, the blanket next to his bed, folded in a nice square was calling to him, telling him to wrap himself up in it and just watch the sun set and sleep. He could use a good nap after the day he just had... Plus, Steve would probably come and wake him up afterwards so really, where was the harm?

He couldn't really tell when he woke up, it was night, but then again, he had seen himself the sun disappear so it wasn't that worrying, though the big overhead light in his room was out, he could see that much. He had his blanket wrapped around him, though he didn't even get it himself. He knew exactly who to blame for this. He stood up, sweaty and far too hot, his clothes sticking close to his skin in a way that made them uncomfortable to wear, that's what you get for napping in the middle of the day Matt he scolded himself.

He quickly changed out of them, tossing his dirty clothes to the side –he was already making a mess only a few hours after having cleaned it, then prepared to run downstairs to see what was up, but he stopped at his door, a little piece of paper was attached to the doorhandle, making sure to be seen.

"Your plate is waiting downstairs, don't sleep too much!"

He knew he shouldn’t have trusted him with the task of waking him up, but to be fair, he did need sleep, so he wasn’t that mad. He even made a decision, he’d talk to Gus’s friends. Hatred or not, this was something bigger than all of their petty squabbles from last year, this was Gus we were talking about.
