Chapter Text
It was 11:11 at night as Luffy sighed and looked out his window, Zoro said he would show up an hour ago. Zoro lived about a 30 minute walk away, of course he gets lost sometimes but this was ridiculous. An hour?? Zoro should’ve just said he was tired if he was just going to head to bed instead of getting Luffy’s hopes up like that. What a dick, Luffy thought to himself as he went to close his window and change the video on his TV, checking his phone one last time just to make sure Zoro didn’t magically wake up and apologize, much to Luffy’s disappointment there were no notifications on his screen.
Zoro always pissed Luffy off when he did shit like that. He was such a flaker or could never be on time it would make anyone more than annoyed with the guy. Luffy just mumbled to himself, scrolling on instagram looking at everyone’s stories before hearing a tap at his window, then another, and another, and too many taps for it to be a coincidence.
Annoyed, Luffy threw his phone on his bed and walked over to the window, opening it and peering downwards to see Zoro. He actually showed up! Luffy was ecstatic, but also really pissed because Zoro was so late, an hour late.
“What do you want? You’re an hour late” Luffy said, peering down at Zoro from his window with a disgusted face tempted to spit on the guy from his window.
“You asked if I wanted to come over?” Zoro replied nonchalantly like he wasn’t hellishly late giving Luffy a slight smile from his place on the ground, his hand in his pocket and the other holding a bag.
“Go home you’re like an hour late Zoro.” Luffy rolled his eyes now leaning on his windowsill scolding himself for even being engaged in the conversation before Zoro held up the unmarked plastic bag, catching Luffy’s attention.
“I missed my train because I went to the store to get food for you, so it took me a while. I’m sorry, can I come in?” Zoro said as he waved the bag like one would a treat at a dog, chuckling at himself like he was the coolest thing in the arctic. Luffy left his window, leaving Zoro surprised and a little sad in the cold of a spring night.
Luffy left his window open before texting Zoro "Aren't you coming?” causing Zoro to smile before making his way up the wall of the apartment complex up to Luffy’s window with a smile on his face. Reaching the window, Luffy pulled the other boy in with a cheeky laugh before the pair sat on Luffy’s bed, Zoro emptying out the plastic bag he’d gotten full of food and drinks from the convenience store.
Luffy opened a bottle of soda before looking at his friend “I bet you got lost” He said with a side eye, a little bit salty at Zoro’s time of arrival.
“I DID NOT” Zoro argued, flustered at the prospect of him getting lost again. He would never admit how embarrassing it is to live in a big city with no sense of direction. It was like needing a hallway buddy in college. Luffy just laughed at him as he picked up his phone from his bed.
“You’re so loud Zoro!!” Luffy said laughing and putting down his drink and phone in favor of opening a bag of candy Zoro had bought. “If Ace was here he would already be yelling at me for having someone over this late” Luffy said as he offered Zoro a piece of candy.
Zoro nodded and took the candy, still slightly insulted by the assumption that he had gotten lost on his way to Luffy’s place even if it was true. “Hey, where is Ace if he’s not here?” he asked, opening his own bottle of soda before taking his phone out of his pocket to scroll.
Luffy shrugged before taking some of Zoro’s food much to the other boy’s annoyance as Zoro stood up to look around the room for a TV remote.
“On my desk” Luffy said, a mouthful of candy and soda watching Zoro retrieve the remote before sitting back down with the other boy, scrolling through movie options on the tv landing on scream before looking at the other boy for approval before Luffy nodded.
“Ace is probably at a rave or something with his friend, booger? Buffoon? Whatever that guy’s name was” Luffy said settling into a small corner that the two walls met, adorned with pillows for comfortability, Zoro leaning against the wall right beside his friend”
“Have you even watched scream?” Zoro asked looking at Luffy as he opened his can of soda with a small pop, Luffy shaking his head, stuffing his face with even more candy “Why? s’ it good?” he asked, face full of food.
“It’s fucking sick” Zoro added with a small smirk, “I’ve watched all of them up to probably the 6th one…”
Luffy just looked at the other like he was insane “THERE’S SIX????”
“Seven” Zoro corrected, waving his extended finger at Luffy, still holding the can of soda. “And at least up till 4 they’re really good for being sequels and prequels” He hummed
“Zoro’s fucking insane…” Luffy just mumbled rolling his eyes as the movie stopped buffering and started up.
Around ¾’s of the way through the movie Luffy looked at Zoro and paused it with a completely awestruck look on his face. “THERE’S TWO KILLERS??” Zoro just laughed and nodded as he grabbed the remote from Luffy and unpaused, Luffy getting closer with every appearance of either of the murderers in the ghostface mask until he was practically cuddling with his friend.
The movie ended with Zoro chuckling at Luffy’s awestruck face as the pair cuddled.
“Wanna watch the second one?” Zoro asked, fondly looking down at Luffy, whose head was resting on his shoulder. Luffy nodded still eating part of the copious supply of candy that Zoro had bought for them both.
Eventually the pair fell asleep around movie #3, Luffy waking up in the morning to Zoro getting shoo’ed out the window by an angry Ace who was yelling about no people in the house after 10:pm and before 11 in the morning. Luffy just turned over and texted Zoro
“Same time tonight? I wanna know what happens to Sydney!!!!”
Setting his phone down Luffy smiled to himself before getting another notification,
“I’ll bring snacks” Zoro responded halfway down the street.
Luffy picked up his phone responding once more before setting it down and smiling to himself
“Then its a date!! Don't be late again. I wont open my window next time asshole…”
