Chapter 1: Four new friends

Chapter Text

Huata had spent days tracking scents with no luck. Several packs had passed the area, and their scent was faint, but she had picked up one that was close nearby.

Far away from where they were supposed to be Anemy, Huata's sister, Ash ,their mother, and Aric , their baby brother, bathed in the sun. Huata didn't care much for sun bathing. Rather, she was more interested in finding them a pack so they would be safe so she could be a wolf.

Anemy rolled in the grass, enjoying the rays of the sun on her beige fur. "Could lay here all day," she said, stilling rolling on her back. Anemy loved the outside so much space, no cramped pen, and no humans to wait for.

"Get up, we have to go," red beige fur so pale and a strick tone. Her mother had faith that despite her daughters issues, she would find them a pack. Unlike her sister, who was lazy to even bother looking.

"What's the point of this again ?," Anemy asked, annoyed as she rolled onto her belly. She wasn't too fawned of her sister intact she down right hated her. "It's not like she'd find anything important anyway. This is just a waste of time," she retorted before stretching and getting up.

"Please, Anemy, don't be like that. Have some faith in you, sister. I am sure she'll find what we are looking for," Ash knew from the snarky look on her furry face that she didn't care, but rather than reprimand her grown daughter, she let it be.

"I am so glad I didn't get the pathetic gene from you," she said with disgust. If one had never heard it from her, they could see it. Anemy hated even her mother.

"Anemy !?, Ugh, anyways, get your brother. we need to catch up with you, sister," Ash walked in the direction Huata ran off too leaving Anemy with her jaw hanging. She clenched in annoyance before turning off to find her brother.

"So mis sniffs a lot gets to run off, and I am stuck babysitting this is so beneath me Ugh," Not too far from her Aric, her little brother was trying to hunt a ground hag.

Small with deep chocolate brown fur, he watched as the prey peaked its head out and pounced. His little body went head first into the whole he was so close to grabbing it, and as soon as he did, Anemy grabbed him.

She shaked him and he dropped his prey and she threw him a head of her. "Ash is calling you mud ball," Aric, rather than turn to her, ran to his mother with Anemy right behind.

As soon as they caught up with Ash, they all began walking towards Huata. In the forest, Huata tracked the scent up to a tree and then picked up another while at the same tree. "Hey, hello up there," she yelled, grabbing a squirrel attention.

"Did that wolf just talk ? I need more sleep," the squirrel ran off.

Ash, Anemy, and Aric followed behind Huata's trail. Farther up from then, Huata picked up a scent, a very strong scent. "Did they really make it this far," Memories of a little silver wolf and a lioness appeared in her mind.

Leaf was crushed under paws and a familiar scent before calling her name. Anemy pounced on her and tackled her.

"Boo! HA! Where's that amazing scene of smell of your now," she said in a snarky attitude. Rude as she was to Huata, Anemy was still her sister.

Unbeknownst to them, Trot had picked up on their scent, and Dasker had the boys turn back.

Trot a red wolf with mats on his back and white makings on his face was the beta of the pack of four. He was always close with Dasker and would show his affections towards him and rarely get any back.

Dasker, a dark gray and light brown wolf, was the slef appointed alpha. He spoke as if wise but acted just rudely and bluntly.

"Are we just going to stand out in the open like this? They are getting close. What if they are hostile?" Trot stayed on alert he didn't pick up on the full scent, just Aric and Anemy.

"Your nose has failed you yet again, Trot. From the smell of it, they were human pets. Am surprised. Such a foul stench could evade even you of all wolves,"

Trot whimpered softly and bowed his head. His scene of smell had not been the same since their incident, and it was hard for him to track or hunt.

"The scent is faint. From the smell of it, they haven't had contact with humans in a while. In any case, the circumstances are too dire not to meet with them," Dasker's words hurt his pride a little there was once a time they would roll around in the tall grass together but lately he hadn't even bothered to glance in Trot's direction.

"I trust you judgment. I just felt the need to exercise concern is all," whimpering now loudly, he liked Dasker's face as a means of submission.

In a short distance, Huata smelt them and stopped. "There they are, stay calm, everyone," Ash said. She tucked Aric between her front legs.

"Ew their smelly," Aric said. Huata held her laugh, and Ash tried to scare him. " Almost as bad as your scavenged corpse will when they get their fangs on you now be quiet, Aric."

"In that case, keep talking runt. One less mouth to feed and all that,"

"Anemy !?! Too far"

They all advanced, and Dasker had the boys hold back.

"The females are finally here," Hinto was excited to meet others besides his small pack. This also meant they maybe now he could eat. "Am starving here,"

"We have three females, and all you can think about is food?," Kelo a grey wolf said.

"You talk as if we have a chance with them. Dasker's Alpha remembers her getting his pick, and we get nothing." Hinto was mainly speaking from himself.

Dasker had proclaimed himself Alpha and made Hinto the omega of the pack.

"That hasn't stopped me before," Kelo pointed out. "I wanna get a good whif of the blonde one," he said. Hinto looked over and saw Anemy nipping at Huata aggressively, and Aric hiding under Huata.

"Whatever, not like I care," stretching is a tired body he got. Dasker called them over, so they rallied.

Dasker watched them, then circled them and came to face Huata. Ash saw it he would pick her if anything. Huata took this as a means to introduce herself and playful ran over to him.

"Huata, stop." Ash's call was too late, and Huata had already run over to him with her ears and tail held high.

Irritation on Anemy's face showed cleared. "This idiots gonna get us killed,"

Huata stopped right in front of him, panting and staring into his eyes deep into his eyes. At least, that's what he thought she was doing. Dasker took it a s threat and asserted his dominace, and Huata quickly submitted.

Rather than heed her submission, Dasker kept pushing, and Hinto saw what he was doing. Forcing his dominance on her as he did to him. He was being a bully.

"Out of line already, hmm," Kelo joked as he watched Huata and Dasker's interaction. Having enough of his behavior, Hinto called him out.

"Dasker," he growled. "Leave her be. She already submitted," Dasker ignored him but left Huata alone too, so it works in a way. Annoyed of being ignored, Hinto challenged Dasker.

Biting and clawing at each other, Anemy was excited she wanted to join too. She wanted to fight them as well. Ash promptly stopped her daughter with one paw on her tail.

"Hold back Anemy you'll have your chance to fight."

Annoyed, she just flopped herself on the ground and watched their fight.

Hinto had Dasker beaten in speed and strength, but he was young. Dasker had more experience and used his advantage against him. Having him in an awkward position with Hinto's mouth open and Dasker biting down breaking skin and making blood drip into his eyes, Hinto had no choice but to yeld.

When it was done, Trot went to see if he was okay only to get lashed out on. Whimpering as he didn't know what he did wrong until Kelo opened his big mouth.

"But why ? I'm your Beta," Trot asked

"Looks like you've been replaced, runt," Kelo's words gave Trot a quick reality check, "NO WAY"

Aric was tired of watching them fight and wanted to know when they would get on with it "this is boring," he mumbled a swift kick from his mom, making him keep quiet.

Dasker walked up to Ash and demanded their names, and she obliged.

"My name is Ashota, my offspring Anemy, Aric and Huata," Ash knew the formalities she knew wild wolves before.

"You appear to be the most mature the most mature. Considering you have reproduced already, I assume you have experience being an alpha,"

"Actually, I don't humans raised me my whole life," Rather than let her explain more, he cut her off.

"Well, that explains a lot. Despite this, I will reluctantly make you my beta. You three are welcome to join my family," Ash found him to be rather rude but was shocked at three.

"Three, don't you mean four? My son is - No, I am referring to the white one," he cut her off again this time in a much worse tone.

"I am still at a loss as to why you would bother nurturing such an abomination to adulthood,"

As much as she hated her sister, Anemy hated anyone talking down to or about her that right was for her alone. Ashota was not taking this.

"I didn't raise her myself. The humans did. Please, she has an impeccable nose she is the reason we found you. At least let her prove herself. "

"She can stay as omega if that suits you,"

Ashota quickly accepted, and Hinto realized his place in the pecking order dropped again.

The introduction became smooth after that Trot was a bit apprehensive, but Ash calmly introduced herself and smelt each other.

Anemy took it upon herself to introduce herself to Dasker and then got annoyed when Kelo took it too far. She had been itching for a fight anyway.

Huata sat next to Hinto, and they introduced themselves to each other. Her fur was white as snow, and her eyes were red as the blood on Hinto's face. He found her interesting Hinto as black as midnight with eyes as blue as gems didn't realize that she couldn't actually see him.

"Are you okay ?" He asked

"I am fine. I was more concerned about you," she was staring off in their direction. One would take it as her just looking at them.

"I am okay. Sorry, Dasker attacked you he's umm. "

"Look up at the sun,"

"Hmm, I don't understand, but sure,"
He looked up the sun and was beaming brightly. "It's really beautiful today, huh?" she wouldn't know she couldn't see it.

The sun's rays didn't bother her eyes she couldn't see, but it made Hinto's eyes water but not just any water. A bright blue the same color as his eyes came forth and ran down his furry face.

He closed his eyes, asking why she would say to do that, but as quickly as he opened them, she put a dandelion on his face, and his wound from that fight earlier was gone.

He didn't have time to question her as Huata made it clear that they should go, and they left and joined the rest of the pack.
