By Choice (Not By Blood)

Summary:

Lucifer is not sure about where it all went wrong.

Alastor has always been different from most Omegas during heats. He had different needs than most of them, which Lucifer would never deny him. He would have burned the world to ensure Alastor was comfortable.

Yet, how was he supposed to react when Alastor banned him from his nest and screamed at him not to come back until he had his fawn?

They don’t even have children!

Notes:

Hello,

I don't know where this came from. I literally just remembered a very old omegaverse concept I read once, and I felt like it could fit radioapple. Sadly, I can't remember what the fic or the ship was. If you figure it out, please tell me so I can credit it. BUT JUST MAKING IT KNOWN THAT THIS IS NOT AN ORIGINAL IDEA.

Also, the first fanfic I ever wrote was omegaverse and it was awful, so this is me trying to fix my past mistakes. I still struggle with omegaverse, as you will probably see. However, it's better than my first time. Again, excuse my grammar and mistakes, English is my 3rd language.

Anyways, have fun, my sweets

Work Text:

Lucifer wasn't sure where it all went wrong.

He and Alastor have been bonded for a while now and have been dating for even longer. It took quite a while for Alastor, a very guarded and averted Omega, to open up to him and allow Lucifer to court him. Some people might have found it tiresome, but not Lucifer. Lucifer was patiently stubborn when he wanted something. That's not to say that he wouldn't have backed out if Alastor had explicitly asked him to, but he would respect his wishes, even if disappointed. However, Lucifer had determinedly grown closer to the sinner over a long, very long period of time. He did not push when he felt like there was no need to, he didn't need to remind Alastor of other Alphas in his past who tried to take the choice of consent from him. He took his time, attending to his needs, giving him affection when asked and gifting him anything Alastor desired, without having to ask or require anything in return.

Their love story was almost fairytale-like, without the sunshines and raindows.

Now Lucifer had a beautiful mate and still reminded Alastor of how lucky he felt every day. Just seeing the Omega feel comfortable enough to relax and even happily accept the praise made Lucifer feel honoured by the amount of trust that he was given.

Since the start of their relationship, Lucifer knew that Alastor was far from a stereotypical Omega, which a lot of Alphas fetishised in hell. He was all teeth, violence and blood. He could be affectionate but chose not to. It's probably why a lot of Alphas in hell were after him, wanting to tame and domesticate him, but how do you tame the fierce?

The answer was simple; you don't.

Lucifer didn’t need a soft little thing that couldn't think on its own. He wanted a partner who could match his passion and intellect. He didn’t want to dim Alastor, he wanted him to become worse and that's exactly what dating the king of hell made. So much more cruel and brutal just because he had something to brag about now.

The most noticeable difference, however, was Alastor's heat. Lucifer hasn't been with a lot of Omegas in his lifetime. Lilith, as the first humans were meant to be equal, was a beta. When they got divorced, Lucifer had spent some nights with Omegas but never heats.

That being said, he knew the basic symptoms of it. The fever, the loss of control and the need for ‘pro creation’ being some of the main ones. He at least knew that much. However, Alastors tend to be very different.

The fever was indeed present, he would only very rarely actually have the need to get off. His more common heats would just make him overly affectionate. He would demand for Lucifer to get naked and get into the nest he would have had made days before in preparation. The most he would require would be for Lucifer to enter him and do nothing else. Just the feeling of something inside him was sufficient. It's not that he never required sex, but it was not very often.

Lucifer was fine with that. He wasn't sure why Alastor was so different in his preferences, during a period when he couldn't control himself, from others. Maybe it had to do with his relationship with sexual activities.

Either way, Lucifer wasn't complaining. He knew how this worked. Every heat, he was ready to take care of his mate in whatever way he needed to.

Yet, this time the situation he found himself in was… different, to say the least.

“Get out of here!” Alastor was growling and bearing his teeth at Lucifer. His upper half was naked and Lucifer could see the way his muscles were tensing. Clenching and unclenching, like he was ready to attack anyone who dared to enter the room. His eyes had turned into dials and drops of blood running down his lips from accidentally cutting his lip with his sharp canines. Lucifer almost made the mistake of approaching him again to heal his lip before the growling intensified and he decided to stay back. The scent in the room was so thick that Lucifer could taste it at the back of his throat. His rich scent of whiskey, coffee and something earthly, now bitter and vile as if something has gone rotten.

“Al, what's happening? Don't you want to lie down on this nest you so thoughtfully made for us and relax?” Alastor looked crazed. Lucifer’s words did nothing to comfort him, they only made him more furious. However, underneath all this intimidation show, Lucifer could see the panic and fright of the Omega. His eyes were searching the room, trying to find something, something that he desperately wanted and would almost whine deep in his chest when he wasn't able to find it.

“You stupid Alpha,” Alastor hissed out and Lucifer flinched. Alastor had not been that harsh with his words since they got together. “Useful, coward, incompetent! How dare you be here!” Alastor continued to rant, obviously not noticing or not caring about the hurt look on his Alpha's face.

“Alastor!” Lucifer finally demanded. He didn’t like using his authority over Alastor, he preferred to avoid it. Yet, right now, he wasn't only hurting Lucifer’s feelings but also himself. “Tell me what you need,” Lucifer commanded after Alastor had curled back to himself. His eyes still held that enraged and feral look, but they had turned back to normal now.

Lucifer wanted to reach out to him. Run his hands through the thick fur on the Omega's body and make him calm down, but this obviously didn't seem appropriate at the moment. They first needed to fix whatever was wrong with Alastor.

“How can you not see?” Alastor spat out, “Have you forgotten? Are you really that irresponsible or do you just not care?” Even if outraged, Lucifer could make out the tears that had been collected on Alastor’s lower eyelids. His voice shook for a second and Lucifer was truly clueless about what could have upset Alastor this much.

“What are you talking about, Alastor? Come on, talk to me, sweetheart,” he tried more sweetly. The omega was obviously in enough distress already. He didn’t need Lucifer making him feel even more miserable than he already was.

“Foolish Alpha!” he shamed once again, “Where is our fawn?” Alastor snapped and quickly started rearranging the nest and scenting everything, like he was still searching for something he couldn't find.

Lucifer paused and just stared at Alastor, speechless. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do in this situation. He knew what was happening, but he wasn't sure what steps to take in this specific situation.

Family heat or postpartum heat would occur when an omega has recently had a child, who was in constant need of care. It was the only type of heat which would not involve any kind of explicit or sexual actions. Just an omega taking care of their young and the alpha making sure that they are both ok and protected. It was supposed to strip Omegas to their barest, most natural instincts.

The problem was that he and Alastor did not have a fawn.

All sinners in hell could not reproduce, no matter what their secondary gender was. Theoretically, Alastor could be able to because of Lucifer, but Alastor had made it clear to Lucifer that he didn't want that at the moment or even ever. The alpha was perfectly contained with that decision, he already had Charlie after all and that was enough for him. If Alastor didn't want kids, he would respect it. Therefore, where was all this coming from?

“Alastor, we don't have a fawn.” Lucifer regretted his words as soon as they came out of his mouth. His breath caught when he turned his focus back on his Alpha with a murderous look in his eyes. Alastor’s scent was becoming more intense by the minute, and Lucifer felt like he was gonna throw up.

“Imbecile, bring me my fawn before I rip your throat out,” Lucifer swallowed, “with my teeth.” Lucifer wasn't sure if he should feel scared or aroused. Either way, he quickly exited the room once Alastor had gone back to dismantling and reassembling the nest in distress.

He didn't know what he was thinking, refusing an omega his young. It's like he wanted to die right there and then. The only reason he survived being in that room was that his scent translated to Alastor as his Alpha, if it were anyone else, Alastor would have killed them before they even had the chance to understand what was going on. In the state he was presently in, Alastor was extremely unstable and unpredictable. Yet, Lucifer was at a closed end, he wasn't sure how to deal with this. How was he supposed to provide Alastor with a fawn that doesn't exist?

He needed help.

“Is this another bonding activity?” Angel asked as he flopped on the couch in the main sitting area. At this time of the day, the hotel was pretty empty, sinners running their own individual errands. So, Lucifer was sure that no one would ear drop on his little problem. He knew Alastor would eat him alive if he exposed his vulnerable state to the whole of pride.

“No, Angel. Dad wants our help with something.” Charlie said excitedly. She always liked being of help, especially to her father, who normally looked so independent and steady in his life.

When she said ‘ours’, she truly made everyone in the hotel. Charlie and Vaggi were sitting on the floor next to each other, Charlie having criss-crossed legs and Vaggi having tucked her own under her. When Angel flopped on the couch, he automatically fell over Husk’s lap, who didn't seem to mind, even with his permanent grumpy face on. Everyone knew that those two were currently courting, taking it slow and steady. Young love-

He should stop getting distracted.

“So, big daddy needs help, huh?” Always, so shameless. Yet, Husk had such fondness in his eyes as he rolled them.

“Right,” Lucifer cleared his throat and side-eyed the sinner who just raised his eyebrows at him. “Alastor’s heat started today, and there has been a slight miscalculation which I required assistance with.” He started and confused looks were shared across the room.

“Does tall, dark and scary need any sex toys or something-” Husk covered Angel’s mouth and gave him a painful look. He truly didn't need to think about that when it came to Alastor.

“You think we are the appropriate people to help with this because?” Husk quickly added. “Are you supposed to know him best?”

“You guys also live with him and what he is asking of me is kind of impossible.” Lucifer looked almost ashamed. Admitting that his service wasn't enough to satisfy his mate. Deep inside him, he felt such shame. His mate was in distress and he couldn't do anything to help. He hasn't provided his doe with a fawn, so now his mate would possibly have to go through this in desperation and sorrow. The meter thought of it made Lucifer’s Alpha want to whine.

“Wow, I didn't know Red was in such freaky stuff.” Angel’s voice broke Lucifer out of his thoughts and he could hear Husk letting out an exhausted sigh. Angel just looked up at him with a smirk.

“Dad, we will do everything we can to help you.” Charlie ignored Angel in favour of comforting her dad. She could sense from their familiar bond how helpless her father felt. He was desperately trying to keep the sourness of his normally sweet scent out of the room, but he couldn't hide anything from his daughter. She started to let her own flowery scent out to try to calm him down.

“Um…” Lucifer hesitated, “So, I was getting ready to enter the nest he made until he started to scream at me.”

“Isn’t he always like that? Always so antagonistic to everyone.” Vaggi rolled her eyes with a small smile. She had grown fond of Alastor over their shared support of Charlie's dream. But it was sometimes amusing to make a bit of fun of him.

“No, no. It was different this time.” Lucifer licked his lips. He was feeling so stressed that his mouth felt dry. “He smelled like he was very depressed and miserable. He wanted something which I couldn't give him”. He didn't know how to utter the words without sounding ridiculous. Who would have expected that Alastor, out of everyone, would be asking for his fawn?

“Well, what did he ask for?” Husk asked.

“Yeah, don't leave as in anticipation, short king,” Angel added, sounding close to uninterested. Obviously, underestimating the seriousness of this very complicated situation.

“For a fawn.” Angel’s and Husk's jaws dropped, Charlie looked confused and Vaggi raised an interested eyebrow.

“Well, who would have thought? Why didn't you give him one then, your majesty?” Angel added teasingly.

“Did you lose a bet to him and he decided to publicly humiliate you? Why are you telling us this?”

“I thought sinners couldn't reproduce.” Charlie looked at Vaggi.

“They can't, hun,” she confirmed.

“Oh, Charlie, I’m sure that wouldn't be a problem for your dad.”

“Angel, please. I don't need to imagine that.” Husk said and Lucifer looked at them, confused, before he understood what they were talking about.

“What no. That's not what I meant at all.” Lucifer tried to save himself from this increasingly uncomfortable conversation. Maybe he should have tried Google searching, but then Alastor wouldn’t have spoken to him for a month. Talking from experience, sadly.

“Well, you haven't been very clear, sir.” Vaggi pointed out.

“Ok, sorry, I will try to explain everything better.” Lucifer took a breath in before he continued, “Alastor hasn't started a normal heat today, he has a postpartum heat.” He specified and the reaction wasn't any better than before.

“Is that your way of telling me I have a sibling?” Charlie asked cautiously. When would they have time to have a child without anyone else noticing? On the other hand, her dad was the devil, so she guessed he could do anything. But she still couldn't understand why they would keep it a secret. Her relationship with her father could still be fragile on some days, but she thought that they were improving, they shared everything with each other or so she thought.

“That's the problem, he hasn't had a child, yet he keeps insisting that I bring him our fawn.” Lucifer finally said hopelessly and dropped into an armchair. Truly marinating in his wretchingness now.

“So let me get this straight. Alastor has postpartum heat for a fawn that doesn't exist?” Lucifer looked at Husk and nodded. “That's impossible.

“Do you understand now why I need your help? He just looks so miserable.” Charlie looked at him pitifully.

“We would be glad to help, sir.” Lucifer didn't even have the energy to correct Vaggi for calling him sir. “But I don't see what we can do. If any of us dares to approach him, we will be killed in an instant.” She wasn't wrong.

“I mostly need ideas. What could have possibly caused this? Maybe if I figure out the cause, I can find a solution.”

“Maybe Red is pregnant?” This is a thought that had passed through Lucifer’s mind. In some cases, pregnancy could result in this type of heat. However, they had taken multiple precautions for Alastor not to get pregnant. Also, if he were indeed pregnant, Lucifer would have been able to smell it on him. Yet, nothing had changed on the sinner's scent.

“No, there is no way. He has no symptoms at all and we were always very careful.” Lucifer rejected.

“Perhaps it's a hormonal imbalance?” Charlie suggested. As a very young Alpha, she was still learning about how all this worked. Otherwise, she would have known that a healthy, well-cared and especially bonded Omega like Alastor wouldn't be at high risk of hormonal imbalance.

“No, honey. Alastor is extremely healthy for that to happen to him.” She was also young but more knowledgeable, as she was an Omega, and her mate corrected her gently and Lucifer was distracted by a moment at how cute they were. “Has he recently been acting strangely around anyone in particular?”

“Not that I know of.” Lucifer straightened up and looked at Vaggi. She seemed like she knew what she was talking about. She noticed his eager look and tried to continue, this time with more confidence in her voice.

“In heaven, some of our Omega winners would grow attached to each other. Especially the younger generations. This would trigger a family heat if they started seeing them as their young ones. Maybe Alastor is having a similar episode.” Lucifer felt hope as every word left Vaggi’s mouth.

Maybe he could actually take care of this!

“Yeah, but who would freaky face even grow that attached to? He is not exactly known for his openness.” Angel added and instantly became Lucifer’s least favourite guy in the room. Mainly because he had a point. Lucifer knew him well, he prided himself on that, but even he was unsure of who that could be.

“Well, if it were any one of us, then it should be Niffty,” Husk added unbothered and Lucifer’s eyes brightened. up. Of course, Alastor always loved Niffty! He quite vividly remembers him admitting, when he was a bit more tipsy than he should have been, that he always had a soft spot for the bug demon. Her energetic and chaotic personality was truly unexpected and endearing.

“Where even is Niffty?” His daughter questioned.

“Right here,” A voice came from behind Lucifer, which made him jump out of his skin. He turned around and almost came face-to-face with a psychotic looking Niffty, who was concernedly holding a knife. He didn't want to even question how long she had been there, without them noticing.

“Hello Niffty, would you like to help Alastor?” Charlie asked, and her manic smile instantly dropped into a pout. She suddenly looked concerned and leaned forward towards Charlie. Like this, she almost looked adorable.

“Is Alastor ok? Did anything happen to him?” Her voice was filled with genuine concern and Lucifer could see why Alastor was so fond of her. Her childish mannerisms were quite charming. Alastor had mentioned to him a long while ago that Niffty was older than she seemed, very close to his age. However, some of her experiences had led her to have a slightly more immature personality in dealing with them.

“Yeah… I mean no! Alastor is fine, he just requires your help with something. So what do you think?” Charlie quickly added to avoid the waterfalls that were about to fall off Niffty’s eye. She was quite a hard one to calm down when she would get that upset.

“Sounds fun!”

And Lucifer felt relief wash over him.

They were walking near Alastor and Lucifer’s shared bedroom. The hallway was invaded by the scent of an Omega in pain. He has gotten worse since Lucifer left him, now smelling of melancholy and despair. It was almost like he was mourning the loss of a fawn that never existed. Lucifer was trying to hold back from just rushing into the room and trying to comfort his mate. That would for sure get him killed at the moment.

“Ok, and like we said, Nifty.” Lucifer turned to look at the smaller demon, “If he growls or tries to attack you, you run out of the room, ok?” he warned. They explained to her the basics of what's going on. The only problem was that Niffty was an Alpha, they weren't sure how Alastor was going to react to her pheromones, even if he did hold a great affection for her. If he did end up hurting her, Alastor would feel guilty about it, and that's a problem that preferably shouldn't be added on to their already bad circumstances.

“Ok!” She said, and Lucifer nodded before opening the door to their room, the scent hitting him like a tsunami.

Alastor was hugging a blanket close to his body, having buried his face in it, but Lucifer could tell that some tears had streamed down his puffy eyes. He looked sad and vulnerable. He raised his head when he heard them entering, and Lucifer could see that he instantly acknowledged another scent in the room.

Nifty, instead of following Lucifer's rules, ran inside the room and got into their nest. Lucifer tensed as he expected Alastor to attack. He didn’t want to fight his lover but he would have to if he tried anything. Alastor looked equally shocked at the invasion of his nest and started growling lowly. Yet, Niffty didn’t look threatened or scared. She just reached out towards him and waited.

Lucifer was planning what would be the best and safest way to get her out. They weren't even sure that this was going to work and Niffty had such enthusiasm to just run into a feral Omega’s nest. Alastor inched closer to Niffty before he stopped and truly took her in. He quickly reached out to her and Lucifer was about to act.

However, Alastor just picked her up and started to scent her. He let a low whine get past his lips, which showed Lucifer just how deep Alastor was, and visibly relaxed. Niffty slightly giggled from all the scenting and slowly the aroma of the room was a mix between Alastor’s earthy smell and Niffty's slightly superficial, chemical one.

Lucifer smiled and took in the scene of his contented mate. Finally, being able to produce something other than an acidic and toxic scent. He decided to approach but Alastor’s neck snapped to him and once again, he looked like he was about to commit a massacre.

He was back to threatening growling but this time also sealing Niffty away from him.

“Isn’t this our young, Al?” Lucifer tried.

“Not ours. Mine.” Well, hell knows what that was supposed to mean. Did Alastor recognise Niffty as his own but not Lucifer's? How was this getting more confusing by the minute?

“Alastor, sweetheart, please be clearer with me. I'm trying to help you here.” It seemed as if this method was unsuccessful because every time Lucifer tried to comfort him, he just looked like he was getting angrier by the minute. He potentially thought that Lucifer was forgetting or disowning their fawn and wasn't a big fan of that.

“Are you blind?” Vemon was spilling out of Alastor’s mouth for every word. “My fawn, but not young.” He pointed at Niffty, who was cleaning up the nest and putting her scent on it. “Bring me our young fawn!” Sadly, Alastor was far too gone by now to be able to think of their supposed child in any other name than ‘fawn’. Therefore, Lucifer had no chance of asking and getting a reliable or comprehensive answer.

Lucifer exited the room once again, defeated. So, Alastor hadn't imprinted on anyone, he had imprinted on someone in hell who had the scent of a child. He hasn't just grown close to them as he did with Niffty. Instead, he became protective of them because they had the scent of someone he should protect. In hell, there weren't a lot of demons with that specific scent. Even if a young sinner were to manifest in hell, their scent would slowly disappear as the years passed by.

Well, someone did have that scent. Yet it could be just Lucifer’s wishful thinking.

He needed to talk to Charlie.

Now in Charlie's room, Lucifer was hesitant to tell Charlie of his theory. He didn't want to make his daughter’s and lover’s relationship weird or uncomfortable. He didn't know how Alastor would feel about Lucifer even exposing this to Charlie, but he didn't have time to think about that while Alastor was actively suffering. He wasn't even sure that the Omega was aware of what he was feeling for Charlie.

“So, did it work?” His daughter asked nervously. She cared about Alastor greatly and wanted to help her friend feel better. Since he started dating her dad, he has been in a lot better mood. He even actively takes part in her trusting exercises. However, from the sceptical look on her father’s face, she could tell that something wasn't right. After all, why would he be here if the plan worked?

“Yeah, I mean no, it didn't.” He said miserably, but there was a gleam of hope in his eyes. “However, he did give a small clue about who the fawn could be.” He gave his daughter a small smile.

“Great, this means we could find them, right?” She wasn't exactly sure why he decided to come to her if he knew who it could be, but she would happily help.

“About that… Would you like to take a seat?” Lucifer took her hands and sat with her at the end of the bed. From this distance and because he was now consciously thinking about it, she did have the youthful scent of a young ‘fawn’. Her scent was not that of a toddler, but it was similar to a still not fully mature demon. Charlie was still quite young in demon years, not a teenager but a very young adult who was still coming around to her newfound secondary gender. He can see how this scent has affected Alastor’s instincts.

“Is everything alright, Dad? Did he hurt Niffty?”

“No, it was nothing like that. He accepted her in his nest, but she wasn't the ‘fawn’ he was looking for.” Charlie loosened up. She wouldn't have blamed Alastor if he did, it would not have been him actually hurting her but something deep inside him that desired something unreachable. She did trust her father to protect Niffty but Omegas in this state can evolve into killing machines. However, she was glad to know that no one had been hurt.

A silence fell upon them as Lucifer pressed his lips together and then sighed.

“Charlie, I think Alastor is asking for you.” He finally blurred out. Charlie just stared at him for a while. Really analysing what she was just being told.

Alastor wanted her? He saw her as his own?

Something must be wrong. Maybe her father guessed wrong. However, it could make sense. Alastor had always been beside her. When her dad was trying to teach her how to bake, he was always there, making sure that she wouldn't burn herself. When rude or aggressive people try to join the hotel and they especially get close to Charlie, he always handles (read: eats) them before they get the chance to do anything. He spends quality time with her when he doesn't have to and even tries to teach her how to handle the pressure of the hotel, logistics and public image.

It was almost impressive how they hadn't figured it out earlier. Was Alastor aware of this fact?

“Honey, are you ok?” Lucifer brought her back.

“Yeah, sorry.” She swallowed, “I just didn't expect that.” It's not that she was unhappy with it. Alastor had always been someone she looked up to since the start. Her mother was important to her and will forever be. She taught her so much and loved her deeply. However, Alastor didn't have to be a replacement for her, he loved differently. Even if he could be affectionate, he was mostly distant. His love was closer to being there for her with words of advice, rather than physical comfort. And she hasn't realised that she has grown comfortable with that type of attention until now.

Something warm bloomed inside her.

“How did you figure it out?” She finally asked.

“He said that his fawn had a youthful scent.” That would do it. “Look, you don't have to come with me. But it would help him a lot if you did.” Her father added and she appreciated the choice. It was an overwhelming conclusion to come to and I needed time to process it. But her thoughts made her imagine how depressed Alastor was and she couldn't just leave him. She wanted to help him if she could, like he always tried to do.

“It's ok, I will come.” She tried, the words feeling too tight. Her father smiled at her and got up.

“Thank you, honey.” He kissed the top of her head and she got up from the bed.

They made their way out of her bedroom and moved down the hall to where Alastor and Lucifer shared a room. She could smell how miserable Alastor was as they came closer to the room. The scent overwhelmed her as she wasn't used to such strong pheromones. They almost made her want to cry from how much they were affecting her own emotions. She couldn't leave him like that.

Once they were standing outside the door, she looked at her dad, who nodded encouragingly at her. She twisted the knob and walked inside before she could overthink it.

“Alastor, honey, I bought you our fawn,” her father announced once he locked the door behind them. It seemed like Niffty had left the room, but there were some new additions on the nest, a couple of new clothes.

Alastor looked so uncontrollable, his opinions so visibly for Charlie to witness when their eyes met. For a brief second, she wanted to turn around and run. Alastor looked at her as if he could kill her in a second. By now, so frustrated that his full demon form was out and even if pitiful, it was terrifying.

“Fawn?” She slowly approached him and he leaned forward to look at her. His form stayed the same, beast-like creature. She paused in front of him, just outside of his nest and they stared at each other. If her dad were wrong and he attacked right now. She wasn't sure if her dad would be fast enough to save her. Every neuron in her body was telling her to run, but she wanted to try to help him in any way she could. He could probably smell how scared she was of him.

They just stood there, staring. A beat passed by.

He then shifted back to his normal form and, with a yelp leaving her lips, pulled her into the nest. He started to rub his scent on top of her head and she could feel a deep purring starting to vibrate in his chest.

“Thank you, Alpha. Finally, my fawn.” Alastor said, looking calm and satisfied after hours of wailing and running himself inside.

Charlie felt tears run down her face. She was feeling so overwhelmed. She never expected Alastor to feel like that for her. His protective scent wrapping around her made her feel secure and cured her inner child in ways she couldn’t comprehend. The omega was too far gone by now, so he translated the complicated emotions and scent going off his young one as distress. So he pulled her tighter and kissed her forehead.

“Safe now. No one will hurt you, fawn. My fawn.” His purring intensified, trying to comfort his young one.

Lucifer took his jacket off and joined them with Charlie in between them and Alastor already started to scent Lucifer. Lucifer started to wipe Charlie's tears and shushed her gently.

“Do you think he will be angry?” the young Alpha asked, her voice trembling with feelings.

“No, of course he won’t,” Lucifer reassured her. “He might be a bit embarrassed, but I'm sure that this will just strengthen your bond.” Charlie curled close to both of them. Hiding her face under Alastor's chin, where his scent was the strongest.

“Such a good Omega, taking such good care of our fawn, sweetheart.” Lucifer praised Alastor and he lit up

The soothing phenomenon which Alastor was releasing could almost be described as motherly. He might not look or act like a typical Omega. But he was surely acting like one right now. Purring, snuggling and making sure his young one is safe. It spread warmth along Lucifer’s chest to know that Alastor saw Charlie as his own.

Charlie, who was barely keeping her eyes open from how relaxed she was. After a long time, she felt no stress or worries as the warmth of Alastor’s skin and pheromones had made their way inside her mess of a head. She still has to get up, take care of a bunch of things involving the hotel and inform everyone of what's happening. Maybe they should also stock up on food and water, but she just couldn't bring herself to care about those things right now.

Her last thought before sleep took over her was just how great it felt to be surrounded by people who care about her to such an extent.

It felt like a family.

Notes:

Idk why I struggle with writing conversations between multiple characters, but I do.

I should have probably written the first part of my other fanfic instead of this, but oh well. I had fun.
