Chapter 1: Team Spica
==========
Tracen Academy. The most prestigious academy in Japan that Uma’s flock to become a great Uma and maybe even create their legends, such as The Reigning Emperor, Symboli Rudolf.
For an Uma to become better, what they are going to need is a Trainer, a person who can help them train, give them pointers and strategies on how to run better. A great trainer can make a normal Uma into a monster, given that the Uma trusts the trainer.
And for me? Well, I’m currently an assistant, learning from my trainer, who is the trainer of Team Spica.
So how did I become an assistant for Team Spica, you might ask?
Because I got kidnapped.
=====
Time went by, and the day was nearing its end. The sun was going down and Y/n was currently walking away from the Academy. He has gone to many teams to see if any of them interested him. The one that interested him the most was, of course, the famous Team Rigil.
He got to see the test team Rigil had today, which he watched from a distance. To say the least, he got to see an Uma with a good foundation.
“Her speed should be somewhere around 432 while her stamina was 363... That’s a solid foundation if she has no trainer...” Y/n muttered to himself. “What she needed the most was to train her focus on the start and most likely guts.” He remembered all the teams he went to. Some with many Umas, while others had few. The one he was leaning on the most was Team Rigil.
‘I’m still not entirely on board with Team Rigil.’ Y/n thought. ‘Maybe I’ll decide tomorrow, I have until the end of the week to leave the application after all... Huh?’
Further away, he saw an Uma he recognized. “Isn’t that the girl who ran in the test for Team Rigil today...?
True to his words, by the entrance was the girl who ran the test for Team Rigil, now stopped by three other Umas.

“Scarlet, Vodka!” The white-haired Uma in the middle said. “Do it!”
The Uma with the twin tails held a sack and was getting closer to the Uma.
“Um... You know, there’s no point in disguising yourselves if you’re going to say your names-“ The girl was cut off as the twin-haired Uma proceeded to sack the poor girl.
The three then picked her up and carried her on their shoulder, jogging away from the crime scene.
“D-Did I just... witness kidnapping?” Y/n muttered, not knowing what to make of the situation.
The white-haired Uma’s ear flickered as she heard Y/n mutter to himself. She suddenly stopped and looked straight at him.
“Eh? Why did we stop?” The Uma behind the white-haired Uma asked.
“You two, take the target back to base. I just spotted another target.” The white-haired Uma said as she began to walk towards Y/n.
“Another target?” Y/n looked behind him, only for him to see no one. “... Wait- WHOA!” Y/n dodged an incoming grab from the white-haired Uma before he started to run. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”
“What does it look like?! I’m trying to get you!” The white-haired Uma exclaimed, closing the distance between them. “Now stand still!”
“Isn’t your target that girl?! Why me now?!” Y/n said as he dodged another attempt at grabbing him.
“Because I felt like it, now stand STILL!” The white-haired Uma reached out to him, only for her to miss by a very small amount. “DAMMIT, STAND STILL YOU OVERGROWN SPERM!”
“NO FUCK YOU YOU DAMN-“
While the cat and mouse chase continued, the two Umas who were holding the victim just watched.
“Is she struggling with...-“
“-catching him...?” The twin-haired girl finished the sentence. Never in their lives have they seen her struggle with this. She was a pro of the pros of kidnapping after all!
After being chased for a while, by some sheer miracle, Y/n managed to get away from the white-haired Uma, catching his breath behind a wall.
“Haah... Haah... The hell is wrong with her?!” Y/n panted, trying to catch his breath after being chased by a crazy kidnapper. “I gotta get out of here-“
“THERE YOU ARE!”
“AH FUCK!” Y/n quickly turned on his heel and ran in the opposite direction. “LEAVE ME ALONE!”
“NU-UH!” The white-haired Uma exclaimed as she got closer to him.
As Y/n ran away, he turned around the corner and-
*BANG*
Was his by a frying pan, knocking him out on the spot.
=====
“Ugh... My head...” Y/n shook his head as he regained his consciousness. He looked around and saw that he was in a club room. “Where the...?”
“Ah, he’s awake!” The twin-haired Uma said.
“W-Where the hell am I?” Y/n asked. He tried to get up, but realized he was tied to a chair. “W-Why am I tied up? Who are you guys?”
Standing in front of him were the three kidnappers, the victim, and a random guy standing there.
“Yo! I heard you wanted to see our club.” The guy said.
“...Why am I here?” Y/n asked.
The guy looked at Gold Ship with a confused look. “Gold Ship, I thought he came willingly?”
“Who comes willingly knocked out and tied up?!” Y/n exclaimed.
“Hey, don’t look at me. Scarlet was the one who knocked him out.” The Uma known as Gold Ship pointed towards the twin-haired Uma.

“H-Hey! Don’t shift the blame onto me! You were struggling to capture him, so I thought maybe you needed help!” The twin-haired Uma, Daiwa Scarlet exclaimed.

“Who helps someone with committing a crime?” The Uma with short dark brown hair asked.

“You helped too, Vodka! You got me the frying pan!” Daiwa Scarlet exclaimed.
“Haa?! Well, you told me to get something so that you could-!“
The two began to argue.
The guy, most likely the Trainer of Team Spica sighed. “Suzuka, can you untie him?”
“Hai.”
Y/n looked back to see that the rope around him had been untied. He looked back to see an Uma he didn’t notice before. As the rope fell from him, he got up.
“Thank you...”
“Silence Suzuka.” Silence Suzuka introduced herself.

“Thank you, Suzuka.” Y/n thanked her. He then turned to the other kidnapped victim. “And you are...?”
“Special Week, nice to meet you!” Special Week introduced herself.

“And you can just call me Trainer.” Trainer introduced himself hold his hand out. “So, what do you think?”
Y/n looked at the outstretched hand. He then glanced at Gold Ship, who was happily holding the sack with a smile. “Um... I think I’ll choose another team.”
“Wait, wait, wait...!” Trainer stopped him from leaving the room. “You’re currently and assitant trying to become a trainer, right?”
“Yeah?” Y/n answered. “Where are you getting at?”
“Ahem... So you know how you learn from experience, right?”
Y/n nodded. Reading only did so much, but doing actual work was far better.
“What if I told you that here in Team Spica, we do things differently from the rest.” Trainer grinned. “Have you noticed something that every team does with assistants?”
“They usually tell them what to do.” Y/n answered.
“Indeed.” Trainer agreed with him. “And sure, you could do that, and that might get you results... But what that doesn’t do is improve the person. I’ve seen your analyzing skills on the track, and you’re one hell of a good one.”
“Being able to get an idea of what level they are and what they need to improve on might seem simple, but it’s really hard. So the fact that you can see all the pros and cons is really impressive and would be a shame if that talent were to go to waste.”
“So if you joined Team Spica, then I’ll let you come up with exercises and approve them if they align with the training.”
“You...” Y/n let out a sigh. Y/n thought for a bit.
It was true that other trainers just told the assistant what to do, leaving them no room for improvement to become a good trainer. But what Team Spica did was different. What Trainer is basically saying here was that Y/n would come up with the exercises to help the Uma’s improve on their weaknesses which would make him learn more than being told what to do. This was a massive improvement from the other clubs, which made him decide.
“... Alright, I’ll be in your care then.” Y/n agreed.
“Alright!” Trainer exclaimed. “Everyone, line up and introduce!”
Everyone lined up and bowed down. “”Welcome to Team Spica!””
Y/n nodded. “Y/n L/n, nice to meet you.”

A/N: I do not know how close this is to the original one, but I can definitely tell that it’s different. Feels a bit weird writing the first chapter again, not gonna lie.
Edit: Jesus Christ, this platform is much more complicated than Wattpad
