Journal of Lilith—Criminal wizard, High elf.

Summary:

This is a Character Journal of a Tav, called Lilith, discovering the hero's quest that is Baldur's Gate 3.

Note by player:
I love D&D. Most of my characters have journals. So I wrote one for the video game. It helps me figure out motivation decisions. What started out notes on clues and quests, very quickly became an actual character journal as the story progressed. Some of it is creative license to make Lilith's story more interesting.

Warning: This Journal is FULL of spoilers.
I managed to avoid most spoilers on my first play though. Everything in this was me guessing or the character finding out. However, if you haven't played yet and want to. This Journal has many, many spoilers.

Chapter 1: Backstory and Day 1

Chapter Text

Backstory
Journal of escaped slave Lilith. Sold by her parents at the age of 9 to a wizard. She spent 20 years with an indifferent master who took pleasure in watching her struggle to read the arcane. Little did Coraron know, she was actually learning, stealing and planning her escape.
Coraon had a useless apprentice called Morden. Listening at the doors of the lessons is mostly how she learned. That and practising when alone.
(Took the criminal background because she had to steal everything. Even her spell book and magic. )

Day 0
Tomorrow is the day. I have everything I need stashed. Fortunately, the master does not pay attention to the grocery bill, so I’ve been collecting the “change” for years. At least running this house has taught me a lot.

I thought for sure he’d notice the missing books and even planned their disappearance for visitors. He has no clue. Not even missing my spellbook. (Well mine now)

Tomorrow I will go “grocery shopping”, collect my wizard robes, staff and acquired belongings. I will take my spellbook from it’s hiding place.

Tomorrow, I leave Baldur’s Gate forever!

This city be damned. As far as I’m concerned that’s day one of my freedom and my life.

Day 1
I was in sight of the Gate! Then some flying ship scoops me up, an illithid shoves a worm in my eye and Githyanki dragon riders crash the ship in a hell!
Crashing the ship at least broke the pod I was in and allowed me to escape.

Ran into a gith named Lae’zel, trying to get out. She annoyingly thinks she’s right and must be obeyed.
I only released Shadowheart because it would annoy Lae’zel. Cleric though, so useful.

Still, we managed to work together to move the ship back to our plane & crashed it again. This time for good.

Lae’zel insists that we’re all going to turn into those monsters. That's no way to be free.
Found a couple of others that have the brainworm too.

A pale elf, named Astarion. Dresses like a fancy pants; says he’s a magistrate, but pinned me with a knife and can pick locks like he’s got the key-something doesn’t add up there. Pretty sure he would’ve kicked me in Baldur’s Gate, if he’d even noticed.

The other one is a wizard, human. At least he says he’s a wizard. Found him stuck in a basic way point. Magic isn’t required to use those! Gale is a cocky wizard who has actually had the privilege to be trained. Looks like Morden too.

Has a brainworm, so at camp for now. But annoying. So annoying.
At least Shadowheart seems nice.

(Late night)
Just saw Astarion sneaking off. Not sure what that’s about. Not sure I care. So much for my freedom.
