It hasn't been long since I left high school. It was an interesting experience to say the least. But despite everything, I loved my class. A lot.
That's where I met my friends, best friend and even my now sweet husband.
It's been almost 10 years since we've graduated. 12 years ago, I would've been studying late into the night... but now I'm standing over the stove, making pasta for dinner.
I glance over at Hubert, trying to get our son, Martin, to finish his math homework.
,,What's six times three?!" I hear him ask for the tenth time in less than 5 minutes. ,,...12?" Responds our son. A sigh from Hubert... ,,You're almost there, buddy. Just add one more six-" ,,Carrot?" ,,...Where did you get the answer carrot?" Another sigh can be heard from Hubert as he stands up, walking to the kitchen. Currently, I was so focused on mixing the pasta with the sauce I didn't even notice him standing behind me, till his arms wrapped around my waist, his head leaning on my shoulder. ,,How's it going, honey?" ,,Almost done... can you set up the table please?" I reach one of my hands to his head, my fingers gently running through his hair. He leans into the hand, letting out a soft hum and closing his eyes. ,,Sweetheart..." ,,Hm?" ,,The table..." ,,...Can wait..."
,,Mom?" Martin also managed to get inside the kitchen unnoticed. ,,Yes?" ,,Can I watch TV?" He tilted his head. ,,Sure..." ,,Thank you!" He smiled, running off.
,,Say, little girl... aren't your parents home?" I felt Hubert smirk against my neck. ,,...Hubert, not now." ,,If you say so, gorgeous..." I felt his teeth sink into my neck, a quiet, quickly muffled groan escaping my lips. I was quickly spun around to face Hubert, his lips already on mine before I could even realize what's going on. I giggle, my arms wrapping around his neck. A bit later he pulled away, which left us staring deeply into each other's eyes. His bright blue eyes almost sparkling like diamonds... I felt like I could never look away, almost as if hypnotized.
,,...Well... the table, you said?" ,,Right, yes, of course! The table!" I quickly took out three plates, separating the pasta into the three plates. I watched Hubert carry them off to the table, while I opened the oven, taking out the freshly baked cookies. I separated them again, but this time left them in the kitchen for dessert. On the way to the table I picked up Martin from the TV, sitting him on his chair. I stare at the food, stabbing the pasta with my fork one by one. Both me and Hubert waited for Martin to finish his meal, which didn't take very long though. I was just about to get up, when Hubert stopped me, already standing. ,,It's okay, sweetheart, I'll get it..." He disappeared off to the kitchen, quickly coming back with the cookies. ,,Why, thank you." I chuckle. It wasn't till after dinner I decided to look in the mirror, but forgot the reason why, since I was too stunned too even speak. ,,...Hubert." ,,...Yes, honey...?" He smiled nervously, as if already knowing what he did. ,,Care to explain this?" I pointed to a now purple mark on my neck with a faint river of blood trickling down. ,,...Well... whoops?"
