Work Text:
Most days in the office were the same, especially at lunch. Usually the two would either bring their lunch or Higuruma would have Shimizu run to pick it up, but today was different. It was meant to be one of the days Shimizu would go out and get lunch, but she had something else in mind.
Shimizu was never that bold of a person, especially not when it came to suggesting something, but this had been on her mind for weeks. She was going to ask him on this date if it was the last thing she did.
It didn’t take a genius to see that Higuruma was a handsome man, it was blatantly obvious, though it wasn’t his looks Shimizu had fallen for. His personality contrasted hers perfectly, they carried the same burdens of being a lawyer, and Shimizu was one of the few to ever get this close to him. It’s not surprising she slowly fell for him, but did he feel the same?

A new bake shop had opened not far from where their office was located, which was the perfect opportunity for Shimizu to carry out her plan. She’d bring up the bake shop, then ask him on a date there for lunch. How hard could it be?
Shimizu felt her nerves worsening as she saw the time on her computer. It was officially their lunch break. She leans back in her chair, using her foot to gently spin it in the direction of Higuruma’s desk. “Hiromi, have you heard of the new bake shop down the street?” Shimizu asks as she fidgets with her hands. Higuruma looks up from his desk, placing the paperwork he was looking through down. “I have..the one down the block, right?” He asks, tilting his head slightly “Mhm! That’s the one.” Shimizu nods, her nerves beginning to relax “What about it?” Higuruma asks. He had a slight suspicion, he was a lawyer after all. “Well I was wondering if you’d want to go there for lunch..as a date.” Shimizu says sheepishly, looking down as she begins bouncing her leg. “A date?” Higuruma questions, a soft smile on his lips. “Mhm..if that’s alright with you.” Shimizu nods. “I don’t see why not.” Higuruma shrugs as he leans back in his chair. Shimizu’s eyes widen slightly as she hears his answer, a smile creeping up on her lips. “It’s a date then.” She nods.
They begin getting ready to leave as Higuruma shoves off his coat, leaving it on his chair. Shimizu on the other hand gathers her trench coat and scarf, and begins putting them on. “Are you not going to be cold Hiromi?” Shimizu asks as she begins walking to the door alongside Higuruma. “I’ll be fine. I don’t mind the cold, it’s nice.” Higuruma smiles softly as he opens the door, motioning for her to head out first. Shimizu nods as she walks out, pausing right outside of the door to wait for Higuruma. “Shall we get going?” Higuruma asks as he laces his hand in hers. “We shall.” Shimizu laughs softly as they head down the steps, slowly walking together towards the bake shop.
