The Odds were Never in Our Favor

Summary:

With the shake of a hand between Panem's president and Paris' villain, both worlds find themselves colliding when Ladybug and Cat Noir are captured and sent to Panem, now forced to play in the 74th annual Hunger Games as tributes representing District 12.

But even when Katniss isn't a tribute, sparks can still exist. And sparks do as they always do.

They burn.

Notes:

Really quick to let you guys know how the chapters will work: there will be 3 major arcs that correspond to the main HG trilogy, but before that there's going to be prologue chapters. The prologue chapters will be marked "0.x" and the main arcs will be, for example, "1.x". Just wanted to clear that up!

Also yes the prologue chapters will be significantly shorter than the main chapters. So they'll all be here roughly around the same time.

also final note: if anyone has ever read the old Wattpad version of this fic... yeah, I'm changing it up. I wasn't really in love with that storyline after a while so while it still kinda is the basic premise of "ladynoir being everlark basically" I'm trying to make it better. so... hope you like it!
(yes, fellow ao3 members... you're getting the newer edition. see i like you guys a lot)

Chapter 1: 0.1 - The President's Deal

Chapter Text

“Your 3:15, President,” an attendant said.

Coriolanus Snow looked up from his papers to see a man stride in as if he were the important one in the room, instead of the president of Panem. His face was entirely covered in silver, and he was immaculately dressed in a deep purple, similar to how Snow favored crimson. Very few knew this man by face, yet the president recognized him instantly.

“I assume you’re here for your promise,” he said. “The one you made three weeks ago?”

Hawkmoth grinned.

“Yes,” he replied. “Your Hunger Games will be memorable this year, so long as you agree to my stipulations.”

Snow simply beckoned any and all others out of the room, ensuring it was only the two of them present. “You promised me tributes. Who exactly are you recommending for the Games?”

“One female, one male,” Hawkmoth explained. “The male sixteen, the female about to be fifteen. Both of them are strong and smart, both of them are fighters. They stand to be possible contenders in the arena… if the odds are in their favor, of course.”

Snow was more intrigued. “And how do you know they have these capabilities?”

The grin only deepened, growing more sinister.

“I’ve only been fighting them myself for months now,” he said. “And should either or both of them die, you will send them to me. I have my own business with them that must be resolved.”

“And just how will you ensure your business will be resolved if they’re fighters?”

“Well… which of your districts produces the least amount of victors?”

Snow had to think it over. Obviously 1, 2, and 4 were out automatically; they generally had the most victors out of the bunch. 6 didn’t have a lot, but they still did have a good handful. 7 was down to one female, but they had enough males to counteract.

He looked up, the answer coming to him. “If I recall, District 12 has two victors, and only one of them is still living.”

“It’s settled then,” Hawkmoth held out a hand to shake. “They will represent a district that nearly guarantees their doom, yet I’m positive they’ll go down fighting, ensuring you and your citizens will have a memorable Hunger Games to add to your collection.”

For the first time, a ghost of a smile crept onto Snow’s lips.

“May the odds be ever in your favor,” he said, and they shook hands, sealing the deal.
