When Worlds Collide

Summary:

What if the world was connected to others with paths we don't see, and what if the boundaries were pushed, just by an accidental fall?

I update this whenever I can, I'm chronically lazy, so nothing ever gets done. This story will definately start slow, but it should pick up in later chapters.

Notes:

If there is something I feel needs to be warned about, it will appear here. Please let me know if I need to put a warning on a chapter I didn't.
The character whose POV the chapter is in will be in the chapter title, to avoid confusion.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Crista

Chapter Text

My name is Crista Becker, and I, like most people where I’m from, want to be a hero.

For as long as I can remember, that's what I’ve wanted. Even doctors with no answers on where my quirk was never stopped me. I waited, and when I turned 10, my quirk finally manifested. It wasn't something amazing like most other kid’s quirks were, but, useful.

The ability to control technology and how it functions. My family decided to call it my “Technomancy” and while there's nothing magical about it, the name stuck. Once my quirk came, the training started. I begged my parents to teach me all they know, they refused, saying I was too young to be putting that kind of pressure on myself, but I was determined. When I turned 14, they caved. My father decided that training my quirk would be enough, and it was. We moved closer to Kehl, away from any major cities to start to train. However, when I turned 15, I made one last request to my parents regarding following their footsteps, and becoming a hero.

“I want to go to UA.” I said it the way I had in the mirror a million times, “I know it's really far, but it’s the best one in Japan and I could live with Aunt Yu-”
“No, way too far.” My mother cut me off, her green eyes watering, “I can’t let my precious little miracle go 6 thousand miles (10 thousand kilometers) away!” She was crying now.
“I promise I’ll call or text everyday! Mom, I swear I’ll be ok if I go!” My eyes began to water too, and I went to hug her.
“Let us talk about it tonight,” My dad, calm as ever, said, “We can have an answer in the morning.”

So I waited. I waited all night. I couldn’t sleep. UA was all I had ever wanted, and it was so close now. The minutes passed by slowly as the sun came up. I watched as my mom cooked that morning. She sighed in relief when she’d finished, turning to see what I was up to.

“Sorry for crying last night..” She seemed calmer now, “I know you know how important you are to your father and I,” She looked at me with a smile, “I just want the best for you, nothing else.” She smiled and gave me a hug, “We’ll talk more when your dad gets down here.”

My parents have always been reasonable people. I won’t deny that they spoil me, and that they probably shouldn’t, but they have good reason. You see, my mom had always wanted to be a mother, and my dad, a father. But shortly after they married, they hit a wall. They couldn’t seem to have kids, and after 2 years trying, they went to the doctor. There, they learned that not only was my father infertile, but my mother too. I still don’t really know how I still came to be, but I know a few things, I have my mothers emerald eyes, I have my fathers golden hair, and all the doctors say we share blood. Just luck, or a miracle I guess.

“Hey kiddo,” My father interrupted my train of thought, “Ready to talk?”
I nodded, I had never felt so ready for one of these talks before. “Your mom and I,” He sighed, looking over to my mother, she nodded at him assuring their decision was right, “Think that UA is a good choice for you.” I basically leaped out of my seat in excitement.

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” I shouted while hugging my parents as they laughed at my energy.
“Keep in mind, we are holding you to daily texts,” My father continued, “And either boarding at the school, or with your aunt. No sleepovers, deal?” I agreed, as I wasn’t one for sleeping away from places of comfort anyway.

Landing in Japan was weird, I had never made this trip alone before, but I had to be here in time for school to start, and my parents have their own responsibilities. I was lucky in many cases, because even with the entrance exams being tomorrow, my parents aren't exactly low ranking heroes in Germany, so I was accepted on recommendation, giving me an extra day to rest.

Finding my Aunt Yu at baggage claim was a whole other mess, proving my luck to be like anyone else's. I always forget that famous people typically have to hide who they are in public to avoid paparazzi, and I guess Mt Lady is pretty popular here.

I hope this is better than the last one lol
