Summary:

“I like it when you feed from me.” He whispered.

Taehyung’s eyebrows furrowed, his eyes slowly opening. “…What?”

“I like it when you grab me, when your teeth sink in, and I can hear you groaning in my ear. I know it gets you going, too.”

Or

Jungkook finds himself in a difficult position when the vampire who supposedly saved his life wants his blood as reimbursement. He didn't think he'd find himself enjoying their agreement.

Chapter Text

Taehyung’s been around for a while, longer than most vampires in the modern day. You could say he was one of the originals, a first-generation vampire. Back then, it wasn’t that easy; he had to learn how to survive on his own, facing death almost every day for the first couple of years. He didn’t regret a single second; it only made him stronger.

Watching everyone he loved, his friends, his family, his past lovers, all die before him–he knew it was inevitable, and soon he was the last one standing, but it only made him stronger. He was in charge of his legacy now, and after 700 years of living, every vampire knew the name Kim Taehyung—they feared him along with the few humans who had had the misfortune of crossing paths with him.

It was a new era, a modern world. Vampires have gotten soft, weak; they’ve allowed humans to scare them into submission. Instead of hunting and killing for blood to survive, they’ve resorted to a more pacifist way of life—simply buying a pint of blood from any hospital in their vicinity.

Taehyung found it repulsive. The disgusting smell of hospitals, the absence of warmth as he held a pint of old blood in the palm of his hands, the lack of satisfaction and pride from catching his prey with his own bare hands.

He missed that feeling–the feeling of holding the warm body of his victim in his hands and taking that first bite into their delicate skin, the taste of their sweet blood on his tongue, the red colour staining his fangs as he feels their body go limp. He couldn’t possibly understand how other vampires could live without that adrenaline rush.

Taehyung was quick to go back to his… well, he wouldn’t use the word ‘violent’– his biological, instinctive ways.

It wasn’t long before he started selling and dealing fresh blood of victims he captured on his own. Once he no longer had use for these humans, he’d simply let them go, their memory completely wiped because, of course, he knew just how to cover his tracks. He got a little kick out of it, a sinister smile plastered on his face when he knew he had to go out into the dark of night and find yet another clueless human to drain precious blood from. It was like a fun hobby for him–something to do when he’s bored, as he’d explain it.

He enjoyed finding victims who were stupid enough to wander around in segregated areas in the middle of the night. “Stupid little human.” Taehyung would whisper to himself, watching the light of the moon guiding his way to a wide-eyed human, picking wild berries in the bushes. He was humming to himself, completely unaware of his surroundings and the vampire lurking behind the trees, with his eyes fixated on him. The echo of his beautiful voice was brought to an abrupt stop when a hand tightly cupped over his mouth.

Before he could react or even get a grasp on what was happening, or more like what was about to happen to him, he felt the man’s breath tickle his skin, the hairs on his neck standing up as his deep voice whispered, ‘Shh, you’re not afraid of me.’

Taehyung could still hear the fast pace of the human’s heartbeat, but he put his tensed shoulders at ease, his eyebrows no longer furrowed. He was completely calm in this stranger's presence, despite his hand covering his mouth, and a clear sign that the person behind him was dangerous. It wasn’t a power that every vampire possessed–mind control. He’d lower his voice into a chilling tone and so easily took control of any human, sometimes even weak-minded vampires. Usually, they’d put up a fight for a while, their body trying to withstand the tricks Taehyung’s voice would play on their mind, but this human…he gave up so easily. So submissive, it made Taehyung smile.

“So obedient.” He whispered, his finger gently playing with the curls of his long black hair. He pushed away the strands of hair blocking his neck. The vampire’s eyes lit up, leaning closer to get just a whiff. This human wasn’t for him, but he was thirsty, far too busy with his day to find time to feed and fuck this pretty little human’s blood was just what he needed. Just one drop.

His teeth sank into his neck, the human letting out a sharp gasp from the shock of it, but made no effort to push the vampire away. He only held onto his arm, feeling the stranger’s lips latch onto his skin, slowly draining his blood.

Just one drop. That’s what Taehyung told himself. He’s never had a problem with self-control, but…what kind of human was this? Why was his blood so addicted? So sweet, so warm, so rich.. Why couldn’t he just fucking stop?

His hand gripped the back of his neck so tightly it’d leave a bruise later on, craning his head to the opposite side for more access. He closed his eyes, enjoying every second of it, he’s never tasted blood like this. He didn’t even realise when he had the human pinned on the ground below him, nearly sucking him dry to the point of unconsciousness.

He pulled himself off and licked his fangs clean, though that didn’t do much. He was covered in blood—his lips dripping down to his chin, his hands, even tucked under his fingernails. He glanced down at the human, thankfully he was still alive. His eyes focused on the fresh wounds on his neck, and there was a trail of blood dripping down to his shoulder. All his shame went out the window when he desperately licked his wound clean, the poor human wincing in pain.

“It hurts.” He whined, his lips forming a pout as he felt his heavy eyelids shutting down. He tried to control his heavy breath and stay awake as long as humanly possible after losing so much blood. He felt like the second he closed his eyes, he’d never wake back up. “Am I gonna die?”

“Shh, I won’t let you die, Darling. I can’t let all this precious blood go to waste.” His thumb gently rubbed his cheek, admiring the rosy red colour. His nails sank into his skin, pulling him even closer. What a pretty little human with blood just as delicious. “Fuck, I think I’ll have to keep you all to myself.”

✧˚ · .

It was 6 am. Jungkook doesn’t usually wake up at this time. He didn’t have a 9-to-5 like others; instead, he was a self-employed artist. He woke up whenever he pleased, which was usually long after they stopped serving restaurants at any fast food chain.

Today was different.

He jumped out of his sleep with his hand to his chest. He didn’t even expect to make it through the night. He barely remembered anything—only the sharp pain in his neck before his vision went hazy. He remembered pleading for his life before passing out in a strange man’s arms; he must’ve been the one who saved his life because last night he was positive those were his last moments.

“You’re alive.” Jungkook's vision was still blurry, but he could see the silhouette of a tall man, sitting in the shadow of the darkly lit room. His voice was familiar, still fresh in his memory.

It was him—he saved his life.

Though he didn’t know the full story, this man was a complete stranger; oddly enough, he felt completely calm in his presence.

He was in a bed that didn’t belong to him, in a house he didn’t recognise. He could be hours away from home— hours away from any family or friends, whom he had no way to contact because his phone was missing from his back pocket. He had no clue where he was; all human logic would lead him to freak out.

He should be scared.

“Who are you?” His voice was a bit hoarse when he spoke. He held his hand to his neck when he felt a stinging pain in his throat from the deep wounds. There was a bandage over it, a damp spot in the middle stained with his blood.

“Is that supposed to matter?” Taehyung chuckled, one leg crossed over the other as he watched the human struggle to sit up. He’d been up all night, making sure his precious new blood bag kept warm…and alive, ready for his next feeding. He couldn’t let something so rare slip through his fingers.

“Of course it matters, I’d like to properly thank the man who saved my life.” Jungkook knew he always had his head in the clouds, but he’s never had a close call like that before. He thought it was fate. What were the chances that this man just so happened to be wandering around the woods at the same time he was to give him another chance at life?

“Saved your life?” Taehyung cocked an eyebrow. Oh, this was perfect. The second he heard Jungkook could barely recall the events of last night, he thought he could maybe use it to his advantage.

Stupid humans, it was almost humorous.

“It’s Taehyung and you, Darling, you owe me.” Surely, he’d feel obligated to repay the man who allegedly saved him.

“I don’t make much, but I promise I’ll pay off my debt.” For a second, Jungkook thought this was a pure act of kindness, but like any other man, of course, he wanted something in return. “I always follow through with my promises.”

However, money didn’t look like something this man needed. He was well dressed from head to toe in a fully black suit and tie tailored to fit him like a glove. The watch on his hand alone was a brand that cost more money than Jungkook’s made in his twenty-eight years of living.

He looked like someone of importance—someone you didn’t want to cross.

The pillow his head was resting on was silk, and the blanket over his body had to be the softest material to ever graze his skin. One glance out the window and he noticed they were far out, far up. They were in the hills.

This man didn’t need a cent from him.

“Keep your money.” Taehyung got up, the floor creaking with every step as he walked closer to the bed. The human’s eyes flickered up to him, filled with innocence and curiosity. Taehyung’s never seen a human with eyes so wide… so beautiful it looked like he had captured all the stars in the sky for himself. He didn’t let it distract him. “I want something far more valuable.”

“More valuable than money?” Jungkook laughed.

“You.”

“Me..” His smile faded away, his cheeks heating up at what he was implying. He looked down at his lap, trying his best not to sound ungrateful. He couldn’t give his body so easily; he was still a virgin.

Yes, at twenty-eight years old, Jungkook was a virgin, and most importantly, he couldn’t just give that to a strange man, whether he saved his life or not.

“Anything else?” Jungkook’s voice was meek. “I’ll give you anything else but my body.”

“Your body?” Taehyung snickered, tilting Jungkook’s chin upwards. Every time he touched his smooth skin, he felt something dark inside him—something that scared even him. The only thing holding him back from draining Jungkook was the potential promise to have a lifetime of his blood at his fingertips. “As tempting as that is—and trust me when I say that— the blood that runs through your veins is far more appetising.”

“What would you want with my blood?”

“What would I want with your blood?” He said in a mocking tone, a sinister grin growing on his face. His hand wrapped around Jungkook’s neck, his middle and ring fingers pressing against the bandage that covered Taehyung’s bite marks. The human winced in pain, his toes curling under the sheets as he tried to pull away from the vampire’s touch. “When I saved you, you know I had to have a little taste.”

“A little taste..?” Jungkook’s voice trailed off. He hadn’t seen it before, but now that he was so close, he could see it. He thought it was all just a coincidence—how sharp his canines were when he smiled, his unrealistically pale skin cold to the touch. He knew something was off about him, something dark and eerie, and the way he talked. He’s heard of them—rumours and horror stories—but he never thought he’d ever come face to face with one. “You’re one of them.”

“Mm, you’re a smart one, Jungkook.” He would’ve never welcomed a strange human into his house without doing his research; he wasn’t stupid. As much as he thought humans were less than and harmless, he knew just how sick their minds could be. So, before he tended to his wounds and gave him a warm bed to sleep in, a background check was more than necessary. “Now that you fully understand, do we have a deal?”

“Deal? Wh-what deal?” Jungkook shook his head, still having a hard time processing the situation he managed to stumble into. Just a second ago, he thought vampires were just myths, and now he was doing what exactly? Giving up his blood to repay his debt. “Just how much of my blood do you need?”

“Again with the questions.” Taehyung sighed, his patience running thin. “It’s not how much of your blood I need, it’s how long you’ll be here to provide it for me, and the answer for that would be... well, until your little human body can’t go on anymore.”

“I can’t do that!”

“I saved your life, you could’ve died out there.”

“So, I should give you my blood for the rest of my life? I don’t understand, can’t you find another human?”

“I don’t want another human.” Taehyung snapped, his voice coming out much harsher than intended. Jungkook flinched, and the man took a step back with a deep sigh. “Listen, your blood is sweet, I can smell it. I can smell how rich it is—how delicious it is from right here, and I want all of it for myself. Is that a good enough explanation for you?”

Jungkook shifted a bit, the sheets rustling beneath him. He felt his entire body heat up. “But..”

“It’s a great deal, really. You’ll get to stay here, alive and well, and I’m just asking for blood in return, how selfish can you be?”

Taehyung thought he was being more than generous. He’d never allow a human to live in his house, but here he was offering it.

“You want me to dedicate my life to letting you feed on me? I have a real life, I have friends, family, a job—the kids at the orphanage.”

“You’re not being held hostage.” Taehyung chuckled. Jungkook’s hands and legs weren’t bound together, and all his belongings were neatly placed in the corner of the room. Even the door was ajar.

The vampire was confused. What put him under the impression that he couldn’t leave?

“Oh.” Jungkook mumbled.

“And a job? Really, Jungkook? You’re a struggling artist, I’d barely call that a job.”

“Struggling?” Jungkook scoffed. He knew it was true, but he had only known this man for a couple of minutes, and he was already insulting him and his work. He knew his art was good; the problem is, not many people know that. “And how do you know my name?”

It was the second time he said it, but it flew over his head at first.

“I do my research.” Taehyung shrugged. “And your ID is in your wallet; it was quite easy.”

“Are all vampires assholes?”

“I don’t have time to spare your feelings. Just remember, I saved your life, I can easily undo that in the blink of an eye.”

“So, if I disagree, you’ll just kill me?”

“Hm..I guess I will.” He laughed, not realising how simple it was. Though he’d hate to have to kill him after finding such a rare gem. “Three ways to pay off your debt. With your body— the option you so generously brought to my attention, your blood at my every beckoning call, or your life, which is it?”

“When you drink my blood, will it always be this painful?”

“More questions..” Taehyung groaned, gritting his teeth. Any other human and he would’ve slit his throat already, but he needed him; he’ll even go as far as saying he’s desperate for him. Not to his face, of course.

“I-I’m sorry! I just need to make sure. It’s not exactly an easy decision to make. So hot-headed.” He muttered under his breath, a bit of attitude in his tone. Taehyung glared at him, the initial feeling of anger fading away when he realised he took a liking to it. He knew how to bite back, cute.

“It won’t hurt as much. I got a bit ahead of myself last night.” He nervously rubbed the back of his neck. It was embarrassing; nobody and nothing should have so much power over him. “The first bite always hurts; you’ll learn to endure. Do we have a deal?”

“…Free rent, right?”

“Yes.” Taehyung sighed, rubbing his temples. Money really is all they care about.

“In this house?” Jungkook’s eyes went wide. The bedroom alone was the size of his studio apartment.

“Jesus- What do you want? A tour?”

“Okay, okay. Deal.” He politely held out his hand for Taehyung to shake it.

It almost felt like forever, but he finally got just what he wanted. He shook Jungkook’s hand, his grip tightening as he hastily pulled him forward.

“If you try to screw me over or run, I will hunt you down myself and drain every drop of blood from you until your body is ice cold, do you understand me?”

Jungkook’s eyes met his, his pulse quickening. Still not scared. “I understand.”

“Taehyung, holy fuck.” Yoongi sighed in relief when he saw his friend walk into the bar where their deals would usually happen. It was an easy cover for their main operations, which took place in the basement, far out of the public eye. Yesterday, Taehyung was a no-show, and poor Yoongi was thinking of the worst possible scenario. “Where the fuck have you been, huh?”

“Aww, you were worried about me?” Taehyung teased as he sat down and asked for a glass of red wine. He always preferred it over beer; it was second best to blood.

“Don’t be a little shit, where were you?” He was too familiar with that smile Taehyung had on his face; it was telling. He just knew he was up to something he shouldn’t have been doing.

“Have you ever found a human whose blood was so good you could smell it a mile away, so good you had to physically pull yourself off so you don’t kill them?” Taehyung was almost getting aroused by the thought of it; he’s never felt such a thrill in his life.

“What did you do now?”

“Cut a deal with a human to be my personal blood bag.” He took a sip of his wine. He couldn’t believe he’s lived so many years and he’s never had his own human blood bag; no one’s blood was worthy enough. “It was a good deal too; he’s a pretty one.”

“Yeah? You don’t happen to be talking about the human that Hyunjin requested…right?” He cocked an eyebrow.

When Taehyug went out that night, he wasn’t hunting for himself, so not only was he late, he also didn’t have any fresh human blood for Hyunjin, and he’d rather die than let him have a taste of Jungkook’s blood.

The vampire whispered a quiet ‘fuck’ under his breath. He had completely forgotten about his client.

“He’s waiting for you downstairs.”

“Of course he is.” Taehyung sighed. He never had much respect for Hyunjin; he was like a little desperate puppy dog he couldn’t get rid of, but at the end of the day, he was one of his best clients. “Let’s go, I have something for him to keep his mouth shut for a while.”

“Just let him get a taste of the human you found, you make his blood sound like liquid gold.” He followed Taehyung to the back of the bar. Behind the storage room door that had police tape keeping people out, there was an elevator.

“Let him get a taste of my human?” Taehyung chuckled, using his key card to access the elevator—everyone who worked for him had one. He got in with Yoongi, pressing the button that read ‘floor’. “Have you lost your mind?”

Your human? Is it really that serious?”

“I don’t want anyone having a taste of his blood. Yes, it’s that serious.” He sighed, rolling his neck back. Just the very thought of it was stressing him out. He couldn’t believe he found such a precious gem—a gem he refuses to share. “It’s like something changed in me the second I got a taste, I’ve never lost control like that.”

The elevator doors opened with a ding, and immediately Hyunjin came rushing for his blood. Taehyung grabbed a pint of blood out of his pocket and tossed it his way.

He held the bag to his nose, trying to inhale the scent through the clear plastic bag. “This isn’t fresh. It’s not even what I asked for.” Taehyung usually did two types of services: a pint of fresh warm blood in a bag, which was the usual request, or, for double the pay, he’d bring the human for them to feed from themselves. Of course, Hyunjin asked for the latter.

“Well, it’s what we have; you’ll get lucky next time.”

“No, no, no, I asked for a human delivered to me, and you want me to drink from this.” He scorned it. He’s never in his life drunk from a plastic bag like some common vampire. “This isn’t even fresh. What were you doing for so long?”

Taehyung folded his arms. He couldn’t believe the audacity of this man. How dare he take that disrespectful tone with him?

“What I do in my personal time is none of your business.”

“I don’t want this!” He raised his voice, his patience running out after waiting for 24 hours for old blood. “I’m not paying for this shit.”

“No?” Taehyung tried to keep his calm; he didn’t have time to put up with his bullshit. He had clients who were far more grateful. He grabbed the bag out of his hands. “Then don’t. Do I look like someone who cares if you starve to death, seeing as you modern-day vampires don’t even know how to hunt for yourself?”

“This…this isn’t fair! I asked for a service, I expect it to be done, and on time at the very least. Where’s my human?”

Your human?” Taehyung chuckled, his fangs revealing themselves. “I hunted for him, so as far as I can tell, he’s mine.”

“So, you got one?” His eyes widened with hope—more like desperation with a hint of dehydration. He hasn’t had a drop of fresh blood for hours. “Can I have a taste?”

“The human I have in my possession is strictly off limits. Wait until next week, I’ll get you what you asked for.”

“Next week?! You know what? Fine. That’s fine, I can work with that.” He took a deep breath, but the second Taehyung turned his back, his ear twitched. Hyunjin whispered something under his breath. “That’ll give me enough time to find the human you’re hiding.”

He didn’t expect his voice to echo so loudly. He was absolutely terrified, his heart racing when he watched Taehyung slowly turn back to him. “What did you say?”

“Nothing.” He responded quickly. Taehyung walked towards him, not stopping until the tips of their shoes met in the middle. He didn’t break eye contact for a second; he could see the fear in the man’s eyes.

“What did you say?”

“Nothing, I said nothing.” He shook his head. “It was just u-uh..I was just joking. It was a joke, that’s all. I’d never-“

He flinched when he felt Taehyung grab his jaw. His grip tightened, forcing his head against the walls behind him.

“Listen, Hyunjin.” He smiled. He tried to let it slide by him. He tried to ignore the yelling and the lack of respect, but Taehyung could only take so much. He wasn’t exactly a vampire with patience. “I know we’ve been in business with each other for a while, you’re one of my highest paying clients, and I admire that, but let’s get something straight, I own you. You’re my bitch.”

Hyunjin gulped, nodding his head, looking towards Yoongi like he’d somehow help him.

“Say it.”

“What?” His voice trembled.

“Repeat what I said.”

“You own me. I’m…” Hyunjin took a deep breath. “I’m your…bitch.”

And as long as you remember you’re a pathetic little vampire who needs me to hunt for his blood, or you’ll drop dead, we won’t have a problem. You take what I give you, when I give you, and you take it with a smile on your face.”

Hyunjin nodded his head, subtly leaning backwards, trying his best not to show any fear, but truth be told, he wanted to wet his pants.

“If you touch that human, I’ll know, and I’ll make sure your death is a slow and painful one. So take the old dirty blood and the next time you come in here, fix your fucking mouth and leave the attitude outside, yeah?”

“Yes.” He swallowed hard, nodding his head. “Sorry.”

Taehyung raised an eyebrow as if he had chosen the wrong words to say. Hyunjin caught it immediately and rushed to correct himself.

“S-sorry, sir.”

“Good. Hope I didn’t scare you, yeah?” Taehyung brushed off his shoulders and fixed his collar. “Don’t forget my money.”

“Yes, sir. I’ll send the deposit-”

“I’m done talking, you can go now.” He sighed, turning away from him. “Un-fucking-believable.”

“I told you he was getting impatient.” Yoongi watched Hyunjin almost trip over his own foot while trying to get away.

“As always. Such a whiny little bitch, but he pays good money.” He walked down the hall with Yoongi by his side to the storage room. “Are we low on blood bags?”

“Well, yeah.” Yoongi chuckled, unlocking the freezer with a key only he and Taehyung owned. “You were busy last night living out your sexual fantasy.”

“I wasn’t living out my sexual fantasy.” Taehyung shook his head. “It was just...playing in the back of my mind.”

“Yeah, yeah, we’re going hunting tonight, or is your human waiting for you to go home?”

Taehyung rolled his eyes playfully. “Let’s go.”

✧˚ · .

“Someone’s already getting settled in.” Taehyung opened his front door and saw boxes all over his living room. He gave the whole day to get his things moved in, his human needs to be happy and healthy, otherwise the flavour of his blood would change. Just a vampire superstition.

“I would’ve been done a long time ago if a certain vampire had helped me out a bit.” He mumbled, sitting on top of a stable box, sipping a bottle of banana milk. It was his second break for the day, and there were many more to come.

“I have my own problems to deal with. I’m only concerned with your blood; the rest of your life has nothing to do with me, and I’ve had a very long day.” He walked towards Jungkook, leaning down closer to him, and pulled down his turtleneck.

“What happened?”

“What?” Taehyung glanced up at him before he could take a bite.

“You said you had a long day. What happened?” Jungkook asked. He’s realised Jungkook is…not exactly chatty, but just friendly. Maybe he was far too out of it the morning he woke up from having his blood Mc drained, maybe he forgot this was essentially a hostage situation, but he was actually trying to have a conversation—get to know each other. How odd.

“Keeping tabs on me?” Taehyung raised an eyebrow, his immediate instinct to go on the defensive.

“No. Being friendly, ever heard of it?” Jungkook tilted his head. “What? Vampires don’t have friends?”

“We’re not friends.”

“Fine then, being polite.” He shrugged. “So, how was it a long day?”

Taehyung folded his arms, locking eyes with Jungkook, who was clearly adamant on finding out how his day was for some odd reason. It didn’t look like there was any ill intention, so Taehyung gave in. A little artist who picks berries in the forest wasn’t a threat to him.

“Someone wants your blood, I told him you’re off limits, and he gave me a fucking headache.”

“I’m off limits, huh? How does he even know about me?” Jungkook asked him. He had to wonder if he was in high demand for vampires, was his blood really that good, or was Taehyung simply exaggerating?

What was so special about his blood that he had to keep him to himself?

The vampire only shrugged, a smirk lingering on his face. “Can I have my lunch now, or are you going to ask more unnecessary questions?”

Jungkook lazily signalled him to go ahead. Taehyung cupped his nape, tilting his head to expose his neck. He lowered himself, his breath hitting against the human’s skin. He opened his mouth and-

“Actually.” He heard Jungkook’s voice again.

“Oh my gosh.” His head fell onto Jungkook’s shoulder.

“It’s not unnecessary, I swear! Do you always have to drink from my neck?”

“You just said it wasn’t an unnecessary question.” He groaned, pulling away from him. He was slowly growing impatient, already starting to forget the taste of his blood on his tongue. “Would you want me to bite somewhere else?”

“You could do it on my wrist.” Not only was his wrist far more intimate, but it was also less obvious to wear a long sleeve shirt rather than a turtle neck every day.

“No, I don’t do wrists. Either right here.” Taehyung’s thumb traced Jungkook’s skin, grinning when he saw the human shiver. “Or between your thighs.”

“M-my—” Jungkook stammered, his brown doe eyes going wide. “Why…there?”

“It’s sweeter there.” He shrugged. “And I have a bit of a sweet tooth. It’s your choice.”

“N-Neck is fine.” Jungkook blushed, staring down at his feet. The idea was tempting, and maybe if Jungkook was a bit drunk, he would have agreed to it, no doubt.

“Any more questions?”

Jungkook shook his head, his toes curling in his shoes when he felt Taehyung’s grip on his nape tighten, his fingers tangling with his hair as he craned his neck to the side.

“Now be a good human and keep still. Hurts less when you don’t squirm.” The left side of his neck would take some time to heal, but Taehyung didn’t mind when he had the right side, along with Jungkook’s unmarked shoulders—all his to bite.

Jungkook’s face heated up when he felt Taehyung’s tongue again against his skin. His mouth closed over it, gently sucking, before sinking his teeth into his neck. It was Taehyung’s first bite after that night, and it was just as thrilling, just as succulent as the last.

Jungkook didn’t remember that night much, and this was something he didn't think he’d ever be able to say out loud, but…he liked it.

Maybe it was Taehyung’s hypnosis controlling him, but he liked the initial sting, the way Taehyung held him closely, the sound of him groaning like a starving animal when he fed from him.

“Fuck, you’re perfect.” He whispered, licking the trail of blood that ran down his neck. Jungkook didn’t even make a sound; his teeth were biting down on his lip.

He was trembling…but it wasn’t from fear.

“See? Not so bad?” Taehyung breathed out, cleaning his fangs with his tongue.

“No.” He mumbled, his voice coming out in a whimper as his eyes watched Taehyung's mouth—the way his blood stained it red. This was…new.

It was also embarrassing. He’s paying off his debt with something so morbid, and he’s... enjoying it on day one like some filthy pervert.

“Wait, one more thing.” Jungkook shook his thoughts away. “I know you don’t like questions, but... where’d you put my berries?”

“Your berries?”

“My berries. I was picking them in the forest to make pie for the kids at the orphanage, then I woke up in your bed, no berries to be seen.”

“Oh.” Taehyung cleared his throat. “About that..”

“You ate them, didn’t you?!” Jungkook gasped.

“How was I supposed to know it was for some little orphan humans?”

“Well, you don’t just eat someone’s berries!” Jungkook fussed, hopping off the box to get some height on Taehyung, but the vampire was hovering right over him. “I mean- Who does that?”

“I didn’t know there were unspoken berry rules.”

“W-well…there are! You don’t eat someone’s hand-picked berries without at least asking first. You have to get them back.” Jungkook huffed.

Have to?” Taehyung scoffed, walking past Jungkook. “I don’t have to do a damn thing.”

Usually, when Taehyung walked away, it was a sign the conversation was over, but Jungkook didn’t exactly get the memo. He followed right behind him and watched Taehyung go to his bedroom, shutting the door behind him. Jungkook stood at the closed door, shocked. He even had the gall to do something like that mid-conversation. He threw the door open.

“Hey, I’m still talking!”

“You’re gonna be a pain in my ass.” He muttered, his back turned to Jungkook.

“You said if I’m in a bad mood, my blood would be tainted, and if I don’t have my berries to bake my pie, I’m gonna cry.” He complained, his voice becoming so whiny, Taehyung swore his ears started ringing. “Do you wanna find out what sad blood tastes like?”

“That’s not how it works. I shouldn’t have told you that in the first place. If you want the berries so bad, go pick them yourself like you did last time.” He tried to ignore Jungkook’s presence as much as possible. He’s never lived with anyone before, and he wasn’t open to the idea of ‘adjusting’ for anyone. He took his shirt off over his head, tossing it on his bed.

“I can’t just…what’re you doing?” Jungkook stumbled back when the man started getting undressed in front of him. He’s never been alone with a half-naked man before; of course, he was panicking.

“Getting changed. You’re in my room.”

“At least wait till I leave!”

Taehyung turned to face him, locking eyes with him as he started unbuckling his belt. The human’s face heated up, his eyes moving on their own right down the vampire’s half-naked body, stopping at the happy trail that led right to his—

He shouldn’t.

The curiosity in him wanted to watch—just a little peek wouldn’t hurt, but Taehyung was still watching him, and he was still stripping without a car in the world. Jungkook covered his face with his hands, blocking Taehyung’s body before any more clothes could come off.

You followed me in here. As a matter of fact, I closed the door, and you busted right in.” He laughed when he saw Jungkook hiding behind his hands. “What’re you doing? It’s not that big of a deal.”

“Maybe not to you but…” He blushed, stopping himself before he could finish his sentence. He didn’t need to know that he was still a virgin; it was none of his business. “Whatever, just please get my berries back.” He pleaded. “Last time I went out there, I-I got attacked. I can’t go out there by myself again.”

“Then buy them from the store.” Taehyung offered, but Jungkook obviously couldn’t use store-bought berries; they weren’t as sweet, and the orphans deserved the best.

“You’re not very nice, you know.” He sulked.

“I never claimed to be.” He heard the door shut behind him. Taehyung wouldn’t say he’s selfish, but he’d never go out of his way to help some human he’s only known for one day. That’s ridiculous…at least that’s what he tried to convince himself.

But he… felt bad?

He felt guilt for disappointing Jungkook, hearing the sadness in his voice when he gave up. It was pestering him, keeping him up at night. After all, he was the one who attacked him. Jungkook wouldn’t be afraid to go back out there if it weren’t for him.

Oh, he hated having a conscience. Even if it was very rare.

✧˚ · .

“You’re not a sugar baby, right?” Jungkook’s best friend helped stack Jungkook’s car with more boxes. Namjoon was almost family to him, an older brother. “Cause you know, living in some random guy’s house for ‘free’ sounds like sex work to me.”

“Hyung, it’s not sex work!” Jungkook laughed. Though Taehyung made it clear sex was on the table, he’d hate for his first time to be completely meaningless. “We made a deal.”

“A deal?” He cocked an eyebrow, closing the car trunk before resting his hand on his hip. He knew Jungkook could be a bit ditzy; he’d always see the best in people and had a far more positive view on life than others. Namjoon worries about him sometimes; he just wants him to be safe. “What kind of deal?”

“It’s nothing crazy…well, it’s not exactly normal either, but I’m fine with it.”

“Jungkook, I'll follow you back to his place and meet this guy if I have to, and actually, I kind of sorta realised I’m into.” He shamefully muttered the last part under his breath.

“There’s no point, you’re not gonna believe me.” He sighed, pulling him into the car anyway. He shut all the doors and rolled up the tinted windows, making sure no one could hear his outrageous story. “He saved my life the other night, and I’m paying him back with blood.

“You’re blood?” Namjoon squinted. “What- is he sick or something and you’re just…giving him illegal blood transfusions?”

“No, he’s not using my blood; he’s just drinking it. He’s a vampire.”

“Okay.” Namjoon took a deep breath before resting his hand on Jungkook’s knee. “So, if you drive down this road and take the third right, you’ll find a psychologist, he’ll evaluate you and—”

“Hyung, I’m serious!” He pulled down his turtleneck, turning his head to reveal the bite marks and the bandage on the other side. A stain of blood was in the centre of the white bandage, while the other bite mark looked fresh but less gruesome.

Namjoon’s eyes widened at the sight, because if a vampire didn’t do that to him, what or who the fuck did?

“What the fuck?” Namjoon whispered, leaned closer. His eyebrows furrowed, staring at the two wounds in Jungkook’s neck, far too afraid to touch it.

“I’m okay, I swear-”

“You’re okay?” He didn’t look okay. That had to be the most painful thing he’s seen. Namjoon didn’t understand why Jungkook was so calm in what sounded like a hostage situation. He was far more worried now, knowing why Jungkook was living with a stranger and what the stranger was. “I don't even want to see what you’re hiding under the bandage.”

“That was just an accident.” He muttered. “He got carried away the first time. I’m okay, I have everything under control.

“A man’s sinking his teeth into you and drinking your blood, and you’re okay? You’re just…okay with that?”

“Yeah, it’s not that bad. He saved my life, so it’s the least I can do. Besides..” He wasn’t sure if he should tell Namjoon about his newfound kink, but he had no one else to tell. “I kind of… I think I’m kind of into it.”

Namjoon felt his jaw drop instinctively, trying to think of something to say other than yelling in Jungkook’s face that he’s batshit crazy. Nothing. He had absolutely nothing to say. All he did was smile and nod.

“You’re looking at me like I’m crazy!” Jungkook shrieked, his face heating up when he realised what he had just admitted aloud.

“I didn’t say the word crazy, but now that you mention it..”

“Okay, hear me out. He’s really hot, that’s a very important factor to take into consideration.” He spoke in a convincing tone, but Namjoon already seemed disengaged. “I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s like making out with a guy, then he starts giving you hickeys and tries to get into pants, but he just stops and leaves you blue balled.”

“What the fuck are you even talking about?” He laughed. “You’ve never gotten a hickey in your entire life to even relate it to something.”

“Okay, but I imagine that’s how it feels.” He shrugged.

“Well, it’s not! Hickeys don’t draw blood!”

“You don’t get it.” Jungkook leaned back in his seat, crossing his arms. The pout remained on his lips as he waited for Namjoon’s apology…despite the fact that his reaction was completely valid.

He tried to use the pouting trick on Taehyung earlier, but it obviously didn’t work. Maybe vampires were immune.

“Fine, fine, I’ll stop kink shaming.” He sighed. “Just please be careful, he’s still a stranger. He could really hurt you.”

“Yeah, I mean, that and he threatened to kill me if I didn't give him my blood.”

“He what?!”

“No, it’s fine, promise.” Jungkook playfully fanned him away. “He feels…safe?”

Maybe Taehyung was a bit intimidating, maybe a bit intense. His eyes cut like daggers, and his voice deepened the wound, but Jungkook knew—he wasn't sure how, but he knew he wouldn’t hurt him.

“You’re just saying that cause you think he’s hot.”

“No…” Jungkook mumbled, a smile growing on his face. “It does help, though.”

“Do you have a picture?”

“When would I take a picture of him? He doesn’t even have social media; he’s basically a fossil.” Of course, he checked, but what would someone like Taehyung have anything to do with social media?

“Well, then I want to meet him.”

“Hyung-“

“I’m supposed to protect you— make sure you're not doing anything dumb like moving in with a vampire and making some weird kinky deal with him.” Namjoon couldn’t believe that sentence came out of his mouth. Jungkook’s definitely gotten himself into the weirdest situation, but this one had to be the worst. “I can’t live with myself if you just run off with this random guy and I don’t even know him.”

“Aww, sounds like you love me.” Jungkook giggled. “Fine, I’ll try my best, I’ll take a picture of him and send it.”

Deep down, he knew taking a picture would do him no glory. There was nothing about Taehyung that screamed warm or welcoming that would put Namjoon at peace.

Meeting Namjoon would only go worse, so he had to deal with the cards he was dealt. One picture was all he needed.

✧˚ · .

Jungkook had been enjoying his first week staying at Taehyung’s house, especially because the vampire was rarely home. He was off doing something the human was completely oblivious to, then came home to feed and go to bed.

Jungkook didn’t mind—in fact, he believed he was benefiting more from this deal than Taehyung.

He was living rent-free in a mansion, his blood—in his opinion— was a small price to pay. Of course, he had to eat a lot more to make up for his blood loss, and his neck was constantly sore, but he could have bigger problems.

Now, he could focus more on his job—or as Taehyung called it, his struggling art career.

He was busy taking a shower in his generously large personal bathroom, using up as much hot water as possible. When he stepped out, the water droplets rolled down his skin, forming a tiny pool by his feet while he skipped through the songs in his playlist.

His music was deafeningly loud while he sang along, his voice bouncing off the bathroom walls. He wrapped his towel over his waist and took his phone in hand. When he swung the door open, Taehyung was standing right in front of him.

The vampire didn’t flinch until he heard a blood-curdling scream escape his mouth. Taehyung quickly looked behind him, wondering if someone or something had followed him home. He turned back to Jungkook when he found absolutely nothing.

“What the fuck’s your problem?”

The human held on to the towel wrapped around his waist, covering his chest with his other arm. “Warn me first, geez!” He took a deep breath.

“Again, are you aware you’re living in my house?” Taehyung kept his hand behind his back, hiding something from Jungkook. He was about to give him when he realised something about the human. He squinted his eyes, tilting his head as he watched Jungkook shuffle towards his bedroom and push up the door. “Are you a virgin?”

“What?” Jungkook stopped in his tracks, shutting off his music. He peeked out at him through the crack.

“Are you a virgin?”

“I thought you did your research on me.”

“How exactly did you expect me to research your virginity status?”

“Well..” Jungkook was a bit embarrassed of his answer. “Why does it matter?”

“I’m just wondering. You seem terrified at the idea of giving me your body, which most humans wouldn’t mind.” Humble brag. “You freaked out when I undressed in front of you, now you’re hiding behind your door like you’re scared I’ll take a little peek.”

“All of those were completely valid reactions; you’re still a stranger to me.” He defended himself, though he didn’t entirely mind Taehyung’s wandering eyes. “But yes, I’m a virgin, not that it’s any of your business.”

“Ah, I see.” Taehyung nodded slowly, his arms crossing over his chest. “How old did you say you were?”

“It’s normal to be a virgin at twenty-eight, fuck you.” Jungkook swung his door open, still in his towel. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to, but he was never presented with the opportunity to. He had bigger things to worry about than his sex life, like his artistic career that hadn’t taken off yet and his voluntary work at the orphanage.

“I didn’t say it was a bad thing, I'm just surprised.” He sighed, leaning against the kitchen counter. He’s only associated himself with humans to fulfill his bloodlust or sexual desires. Jungkook was the first human he’s met who could satisfy both those needs. “Just look at you. How can a man look at a body like yours and not worship it? You’ve never experienced that before—having a man beg for a taste?”

Jungkook flushed. “No.”

“Hm, humans are so odd, aren’t they?”

“Are you gonna always speak like that?” Jungkook asked. He tried to avoid the direct comment towards his body, but it definitely boosted his confidence.

“Like what?”

“Like…you know what I mean.” Jungkook blushed. “Like you wanna fuck me.”

“I do. I’m sorry, I thought I made that clear from our first conversation.” He laughed. He wasn’t trying to hide it, and he had no intention of doing so. Jungkook needed to know that the offer was still on the table.

Taehyung dropped a basket filled with berries on the kitchen table—the basket he was hiding behind his back. “Here, take your berries.”

He couldn’t believe he actually went berry picking for some human, that’s the only time he’s gone to the forest without looking for prey.

“Really? From the forest?” He gasped, his eyes lighting up with joy. “Hand-picked?”

“Yeah, so you can stop going around pouting with that sad puppy look on your—” Taehyung stumbled back when Jungkook threw his arms over his shoulders, pulling him in for a tight hug. Jungkook was far stronger than he thought.

Just as he was about to pull away, the vampire wrapped his arms around his waist, pressing their bodies against each other. The human’s breath hitched when he felt Taehyung nuzzle into his neck, the tip of his nose brushing against his teeth marks from earlier.

He loved feeling Jungkook’s body tremble, yet not even making an effort to push him away. He just stood there, bracing himself to feel his teeth sink in.

Taehyung smiled. “Just like that, huh?”

“What?” His eyes met Taehyung’s when he lifted his head.

“You’d let me grab you and feed from you just like that? You’ll just let me have my way, no fight?”

“You can feed from me whenever you want, isn’t that the deal?”

It was the eyes—Jungkook’s big sparkling eyes gazing up at him. He wanted to do it, he wanted to have another taste of his blood, knowing he’d just allow it. But he shouldn’t. He knows he shouldn’t, but it felt like Jungkook was tempting him.

Like he wanted it.

“You can if you want to.” He tugged on Taehyung’s arm, pulling him closer. The vampire’s eyebrows furrowed, confusion written all over his face.

No. No, of course it wasn’t possible, of course Jungkook didn't want it, right? That would be insane. Maybe he was just eager to pay off his debt.

“I shouldn’t.”

“Why not?”

“It’ll kill you. I need to make sure I don’t overfeed.”

It wasn’t particularly a lie; in his earlier years, he struggled with knowing humans’ limits, but he wasn’t worried about making that mistake with Jungkook.

The truth is, Taehyung didn’t want to get addicted. He’s heard the stories of it happening to other vampires, getting so addicted to their prey’s blood that it’s the only thing that can satisfy them, and they’d accidentally form an unbreakable bond.

He wasn’t against human and vampire relationships, but it wasn’t for him; he couldn’t imagine being with a mortal. Being tied to them until they die, which would inevitably lead to his death, didn’t sound appealing.

“Fine.” He mumbled. “Oh, I won’t be here tomorrow. I’ll be at the orphanage all day.”

“Oh? And I assume you want me to stay here and starve to death so you can be free of your debt?”

“Stop being so dramatic.” Jungkook laughed. Only, Taehyung wasn’t being dramatic; a day without Jungkook’s blood sounded like torture. “I’ll…maybe you can get a pint of blood from me before I go.”

“From a bag?” Taehyung cocked an eyebrow, scoffing at Jungkook’s suggestion. He was more than offended that Jungkook would even think so lowly of him. “Do I look like a pathetic modern-day vampire to you? Do you know who I am?”

“I know you’re dramatic, jeez. Are all of you like this? You can feed early in the morning before I leave.”

“Except I don’t want to feed early in the morning. I want your blood whenever I damn please, that’s the deal.”

Vampires were so difficult.

Stubborn creatures, just like humans.

“Oh, wait, I have an idea! Maybe you can come with me, do you wanna come?!” Taehyung let out a groan of frustration.

Kids were by far the worst kind of humans, so no, he didn’t want to go with him to visit a bunch of snot-nosed, knee-high humans with their sticky hands and loud screams.

“It’ll be fun! I’ll even give you some of the pie.”

“There’s no fucking way-”

“I could use the extra help. I’ll be so exhausted and frustrated when I get back, I know you don’t want my blood to taste bitter, do you?”

“Oh, you just love using that excuse, don’t you?” Taehyung crossed his arms, glaring at the human who only stared at him with a cheeky grin. If he weren’t so damn cute, maybe Taehyung wouldn’t be so lenient with him. “…How much pie will I get?”

“One—” Jungkook offered, but the second he saw Taehyung turn to walk away, he quickly upped the offer. “Two slices.”

“I want a whole pie for myself.” Bargaining with a human, Taehyung must be losing his mind. Vampires didn’t have to eat; they only ate for flavour, not efficiency, and it just so happens that pie is one of Taehyung’s favourite human foods. “And I want your blood in the filling.”

Jungkook stumbled back. “You what?”

“You heard me. I want to taste you in every bite, can you give me that or not?”

“You-“ Jungkook gulped, feeling something inside him flutter. “O-okay, alright deal.” He lazily threw his hands up. “So, how was your day?”

“You don’t have to do that, you know?”

“Do what?”

“Ask me how my day was. It’s not going to make me fond of you if that’s what you’re thinking.” It was weird. Small talk. The last time Taehyung made small talk was 700 years ago when he was still human. It was far too long ago to remember, so it wasn’t something he was familiar with anymore.

“Ever thought maybe I’m actually interested in how your day went?”

“Well, my day was okay, I guess.” Taehyung sighed. “Happy?”

“Very. I also had a good day now that you got berries for me, thank you, Taehyung.” Jungkook quickly kissed his cheek before going to his room to put on some clothes.

Taehyung didn’t move an inch, standing there like his feet were rooted in the floor. His eyebrows furrowed, still feeling the tingle of Jungkook’s lips on his skin. What an odd human.

✧˚ · .

Taehyung never liked children. It wasn’t a deep hatred, but he’d rather keep his distance from the little creatures who’d cry to their parents after just a glimpse of his sharp fangs. Back when he was still human, children loved him. He remembered cradling his nephew in his arms, making silly faces just to put a smile on his face, but those days were long gone. He was a monster now.

“Let’s go.” Jungkook jumped out of the car with homemade pies stacked up in his hands. “We need to make it before their lunchtime is over.”

“We? I followed you here and listened to your dreadful 21st-century music for 15 minutes. Isn’t that enough for the day?”

“I can’t let you stay in the car all day; it’s too hot here, you’ll pass out.”

“I’m immortal, a little heat won’t kill me.” He shrugged, reclining his seat and putting his feet up on the dashboard. The tip of his black leather loafers pressed against the windshield as he shut his eyes to let the time pass by. He would be relaxing if he couldn’t still feel Jungkook’s presence. “You won’t leave, huh?”

“No.”

“And you’re not gonna give me the pie either?”

“Not unless you get up, no.” Jungkook smiled.

“You know, I could just kill you right now and drain all the blood from you until your body is unrecognisable.”

“You could, but then what would you drink after that?” He snickered. “You’d have to find another human whose blood tastes just like mine.”

Taehyung hated this. He hated that Jungkook knew he had some kind of leverage in their ‘relationship’. Maybe if he didn’t go on and on about how unique his blood was, he wouldn’t be in this position.

“What’s your problem?” He groaned. “Why do you need me to follow you?”

“Cause it’ll be fun! We’re basically roommates, so we should bond a little, and doing something like this is perfect.”

“Bond?” Taehyung cocked an eyebrow, laughter bubbling up from his throat. “You’re my blood bag. Roommate isn’t exactly the word I’d use to describe you. You don’t even pay rent.”

“Well, blood bag or not, I still live with you, and I’m not sure if you’ve realised, but when two strangers live with each other, we might get on each other's nerves a couple-”

“I’ve realised.” He was quick to respond.

Jungkook rolled his eyes. “Look, the more we bond, the less annoying living with me will be.”

“I highly doubt ‘bonding’ with you at an orphanage will make living with you any more bearable, but fine, I’ll entertain your bullshit. And for my pie.” He unbuckled his seatbelt. “Just to make things clear, I don’t befriend humans.”

“Why not? That’s a bit prejudiced, don’t you think?”

“I have my reasons.” He muttered. And they were very good reasons. He stepped out of the car with his umbrella shielding him from the sun. He slipped his hand into his pocket, waiting for Jungkook to lock his car.

“What’s with the umbrella?”

“…Are you serious?”

Jungkook blinked, waiting for an answer.

“Vampire.” He reminded him. “…The sun.”

“Oh yeah!” He gasped. “Does it kill you? I thought that was just a myth.”

“It only burns.” He shrugged. The same rule didn’t apply to others. Being a first-generation vampire had its perks; it took a lot more than that to kill him.

“What about garlic?”

“No.”

“Steel?”

“No.”

“Wooden stake?”

“No.”

“Vervain?”

“Really?” Taehyung laughed at the ridiculous stereotype.

“So, what does kill you?”

“Annoying humans who ask too many questions.” He sighed. “Do you I look fucking stupid? Why would I tell you my weakness?”

“Bonding!” Jungkook smiled brightly. “My weakness? Nuts. My throat swells up, and I’ll stop breathing, so I walk around with my EpiPen.”

“Allergic to nuts? Is that why you’re still a virgin?” Taehyung cracked a smile at his own joke.”

“Very funny. I almost thought you didn’t have a sense of humour.” Jungkook glared at him. “You’re not gonna help me?” His hands were starting to get a bit tired from the weight of the pies.

“Fine.” Taehyung grabbed the pie on top, and judging by the dark red colour, he chose correctly. “This one’s mine.”

“Okay, before we go in, be nice.” Jungkook stopped at the door and turned to Taehyung. “I come here all the time and I have a reputation to uphold.”

“Jesus- what do you think I’m gonna do? Kill a bunch of little kids?”

“No, but I can’t imagine you have anything nice to say to them.”

Taehyung scoffed. “I can be nice.” He walked past Jungkook, pushing the door open.

“Jungkook!” The woman at the front desk smiled the second she saw his face. She lightly gasped when she saw the tower of pies he was struggling to hold. “You actually baked them?”

“You know I never break a promise.”

“I’ll check you in; you just go ahead. And is this..” The woman’s eyes darted to Taehyung for a second. “Is that your boyfriend?” She whispered.

“He’s just a friend here to help, right?”

“Right.” Taehyung sighed. He gave the woman his name before following right behind Jungkook, who was politely greeting everyone they passed by. They all smiled back brightly, their eyes widening like they’d been waiting for him to come. He was surprised, Jungkook knew every name and face. He really did take his voluntary work seriously.

“Jungkook’s here!” Taehyung heard a loud voice screech when they got to the dining hall. Children looked up with big smiles on their faces, food showing through their teeth. One particularly mischievous looking kid dropped his fork and immediately rushed toward Jungkook.

“Minho, be careful.” Jungkook laughed, holding up the stack of pies higher and out of his reach. “Go finish your dinner, okay?”

“Then I’ll get pie?” He lightly tugged on Jungkook’s jeans.

“Then you’ll get pie.” He nodded, watching him run off back to his chair. Jungkook even seemed to be really familiar with the children.

“How long have you been volunteering here?”

“Thought you didn’t like questions.” Jungkook teased, dropping the pies on the table. “I’ve been volunteering since I left.”

“Since you left what?”

“The orphanage.” He shrugged. “This was my home for 15 years, so I guess I’ve been volunteering for 12 years. Longer than I thought.”

“Oh.” Taehyung had a file on Jungkook; he got it the second he picked him up in the woods. He only skimmed through it a bit to find out his job, his friends, his family, the simple things. He never realised he was an orphan. Maybe that was one thing they could have in common: they both knew what it was like to be alone.

Bonding? That’s what Jungkook called it.

“Anyways, after they finish eating, I’ll watch them during recess, then we can leave, and you can take that scowl off your face.”

✧˚ · .

“Taehyung!” Jungkook snapped, holding a crying child in his arms. It was recess, and Taehyung was sitting on the bench with his umbrella over his head. He looked up at Jungkook, who was visibly angry.

“What?” He was already annoyed just by hearing the accusatory tone in Jungkook’s voice.

“Did you scare Minho?”

“No. I showed him my fangs.”

“You scared him!”

“Yeah, well, he annoyed me, are you gonna comfort me next?” It truly wasn’t Taehyung’s fault.

It had been an hour, and the sun was already getting hotter by the minute. The children’s loud voices, screaming, and roughly playing were similar to nails on a chalkboard.

He was already irritated enough, waiting for his daily feeding of blood, when some annoying kid ran up to him and poked it. Not once, not twice, far too many times to count on his hand. Taehyung already warned him once, and that didn’t seem to work, so he was more than proud of what he did next.

Taehyung never claimed to be a man of patience, so he immediately flashed his fangs at him with a low hiss. His eyes glowed red, and that’s when tears welled in the child’s eyes before running off to snitch on him.

Was it a bit much? Perhaps, but that wasn’t Taehyung’s problem anymore, was it? The kid was asking for it.

“Say sorry!” Jungkook told him, gently hushing the little boy in his arms.

“M-monster.” Minho mumbled under his breath, clinging onto Jungkook’s clothes in his tiny fists. Children always spoke their minds, but Taehyung was used to it. Surprisingly, monster isn’t the worst thing he’s been called. It was a title he now wore with honour because he had no other choice; he was a monster, he’ll always be a monster.

“I’m not saying sorry to that little shit.” Taehyung scoffed. “Anyways, I’m thirsty.”

“If you want lemonade-”

“I want you.” He demanded, and Jungkook was quick to cover Minho’s ears, his face heating up. “Should I have been more specific?”

“You can eat the pie I made you.”

“I’m saving that for later.”

“Well, recess is almost over, so…” Jungkook cleared his throat, trying to ignore Taehyung’s gaze. “W-we can go to the car, is that okay?”

“Five minutes.” That’s how long Taehyung was willing to wait, impatiently tapping his foot. He watched Jungkook go back to supervising the unruly children. He really was one of the cutest humans he’s ever met, naive but kind-hearted, and if he was honest…brave.

Taehyung felt another tiny finger poke his arm. He rolled his eyes. Another pestering child he had to deal with.

“Minho said you’re a vampire.” The little girl whispered.

“Yeah, so what?”

“Are you really?” She smiled. It caught Taehyung off guard; she seemed more excited than anything.

“So, what if I am?”

“I’m a vampire too. Well, I wanna be one when I grow up, for now I only have these fakes.” She held up plastic fangs before putting them in her mouth and smiling brightly.

“You want to be a vampire?” Taehyung never heard someone say that before. He knew she was just a little kid, but who would wish to have this life, forced to outlive his family and friends, fulfill his blood lust, and put his loved ones in danger? Being immortal wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows.

“Mhm! Can I see? Please, please, please.” She tugged on the sleeve of his shirt.

“See what?”

“Your fangs.” She whispered, looking around to make sure no one could hear them. This was top secret, a real vampire before her very eyes. Taehyung flashed his fangs for a quick second. This was usually when they’d scream and run away, but her smile got wider. “Cool! I’ve never met a real vampire before. I can’t wait to be a vampire and get my real fangs like yours, then I’ll make friends with vampires like me.”

“I’m sure you have plenty of human friends.”

“No.” She mumbled. “They think I’m weird. No one wants to play with me. They always run away from me cause they think I’ll bite, but I don’t even have fangs, just the fake plastic ones! When I’m a real vampire, everyone will think I’m cool like you. No one’s ever mean to vampires.”

Taehyung felt his heart soften. How ridiculous that had an effect on him. “Well…I think you’re pretty cool already. They don’t know what they’re talking about, humans are pretty fuc— stupid.”

“You almost cursed!” She pointed her finger at him. Taehyung laughed.

Taehyung laughed? He didn’t think he’d be doing much of that today.

The little girl covered her mouth and giggled. “Does that mean you think Jungkookie’s stupid, too?”

“Oh yeah, he’s the worst one.”

“Haneul!” Jungkook called out, looking over the heads of the short children. “Recess is over. Come join the line.”

“Bye, Mr. Vampire.” She smiled brightly before hopping up and running towards the back of the line. That would be the first time a human wasn’t afraid of him without mind control.

“Okay, you’re done. We’re leaving now.” Taehyung approached Jungkook after he watched the children head inside.

“Wait, I need to check out at the front desk then-”

Taehyung grabbed his arm, forcefully pulling him closer. He’s been so lenient with Jungkook all in the sake of his cute face, but being told what to do by a human over and over was starting to get old.

“I want you now, do you understand?” He whispered. His grip on his arm tightened; it was almost overbearing, smelling his divine blood and holding himself back.

“We could go in my car and-” Taehyung didn’t hesitate when he grabbed Jungkook’s wrist and pulled him along with him. The poor human tripped over his own feet, trying to keep up with his fast pace, before being pushed into the passenger’s seat. His face heated up when Taehyung hovered over him, reclining his seat.

“Wait.” Jungkook gasped when Taehyung leaned closer. He pulled down his shirt, almost completely exposing his chest. The human then pointed to his shoulder. His neck was still sore, far too sore to take another bite.

A shiver went down his spine when he felt his teeth against his skin—on a new part of his body completely untouched by him. He bit down on his lip, his fingers tangling with Taehyung’s hair as he desperately pushed his head down. His teeth were piercing deep into his flesh. Taehyung was far more impatient today, drinking even more blood than intended, but Jungkook didn’t mind. Jungkook was busy holding his hand over his mouth, but his whimpering didn’t go unheard.

Taehyung pulled away, the dark colour of Jungkook's blood smeared on his lips. He turned the human’s head towards him.

“Are you okay?”

“What?”

“You were…whining?”

Fuck.

Taehyung didn’t want to admit it, but hearing the human only encouraged him to continue. He sounded so pretty, he wouldn’t mind listening to him almost moan in his ear every time he fed.

“Did I bite too hard?”

“No.” Jungkook gulped, shaking his head. “J-just..I’m fine, let’s go back!” Jungkook grabbed Taehyung’s wrist and pulled his arm out of the car. He wasn’t even thinking when he did it. It didn’t process in his mind until he heard Taehyung yelp in pain, pulling his arm away.

He held his arm close to his chest, watching it turn red. His skin slowly began stripping, exposing his flesh underneath. Just one second of the sun did that to him, Jungkook could imagine what would’ve happened if he had managed to pull his entire body out of the car. It all happened too quickly.

“I’m sorry.” He whispered.

“It’s fine-” It wasn’t a big deal to Taehyung. It was just a little sting; he’s experienced far more pain from people who have actually attempted to kill him. A little sunburn on his hand was the least, but Jungkook wasn’t used to this. He looked terrified.

“Fuck, I didn’t…I didn’t mean to.” Tears welled in Jungkook’s eyes, grabbing Taehyung’s hand again to see the damage. “Shit, I need to get you something for this.”

“Hey, calm down. You’re- fuck, are you crying? Jungkook, it’s fine.” Taehyung insisted. He couldn’t understand why the human was so worried, but before he knew it, Jungkook hopped out of the car.

“I’ll be right back.”

“Jungkook.” Taehyung sighed. The vampire watched him in the rare view mirror, sprinting back to the building like he was on a timer.

When he came back, he had a small white tube in his hand. Ointment to help the burn that the nurse gave him. He didn’t even think twice before getting into Taehyung’s lap.

“Here, put this on it! It won’t fix it, but it’ll-

“Look.” Taehyung held up his hand, already completely healed. There wasn’t even a scar or a trace of the burn, even though his skin had been peeling off just a second ago. “Like I said, I’m fine. Everything’s fine.”

“Oh.”Jungkook muttered under his breath. He let out a sigh of relief, wiping his tears away with his sleeve. “But keep it just in case, okay? I’m sorry I-”

“Stop apologising.” Taehyung let out a long, exhausted sigh.

He thought it was cute that Jungkook thought human ointment would work on him, but he took it anyway.

“I just get a little excited sometimes.”

“Sometimes?” Taehyung cocked an eyebrow. “Anyways, it doesn’t matter, it was just a little burn- why’re you still pouting?” He couldn’t hold back his laughter.

“Don’t laugh! I could’ve really hurt you.”

“You couldn’t hurt me if you tried, just don’t do stupid shit like that again.”

“I know, I know. I guess I just forgot about the whole sun thing.”

“No, not that. You shouldn’t be running off like that after I feed from you.” For a second. Just a second, he had Taehyung worry about him. He was in the car, wondering, hoping Jungkook didn’t collapse on his way there. He’s just now found the only blood that could satisfy him; he’d never forgiven himself for killing him.

“What? You care about me?” Jungkook giggled.

“I care about your blood.” He clarified, gripping Jungkook’s jaw. He pulled him closer. “I'm serious, don’t do that again, okay?”

“Okay, I won’t.” He mumbled. He glanced down at Taehyung’s lap and caught himself straddling the vampire’s thigh. He locked eyes with him, his face heating up. “Sorry.”

“Yeah, I don’t think I mind.” He chuckled. His finger tugged the collar of Jungkook’s shirt to the side to check the bite on his shoulder.

His wound was still bleeding, and Taehyung just had to lick up the excess; he couldn’t just let it go to waste. He lifted Jungkook’s shirt to his chin.

“Hey!” Jungkook gasped when Taehyung exposed him. Taehyung's eyes followed the trail of blood, Jungkook’s complaints becoming white noise.

“There’s more.” He whispered, his tongue following the line of blood that ran down Jungkook’s chest. He didn’t notice his tongue brushing against his nipple, but the human definitely did.

“Ngh— don’t-” He shivered. He flinched away from Taehyung’s touch, and his shirt fell back down in place. “Hey, you can’t just- are you laughing?!”

“Sorry, it’s just so easy to get you flustered.”

Jungkook scoffed. He realised the only time he saw Taehyung smile or even heard his laugh was when he was actively teasing him. It was like he got a kick out of getting a reaction from him, whether it was on purpose or not.

“Well, yeah, you just-“

“I just what?” Taehyung teased, leaning closer.

“You-” Jungkook huffed, his cheeks flushing as he tried to finish his sentence.

What exactly was he supposed to say? ‘You just licked my nipple that I didn’t even know was sensitive until now because I’ve never been touched like that’?

“You did that on purpose!”

“No, you’d know if I touched you on purpose.” The palm of his hands pressed into Jungkook’s hips, his fingers threatening to slip into the waistband of his pants. “Trust me.”

Jungkook’s face heated up, quickly turning his face towards the window because he couldn’t simply sit there and watch Taehyung’s eyes rake over him, slowly stripping every article of clothing from his body.

He could feel Taehyung’s cock twitch in his pants like he was getting off to Jungkook’s flustered reaction. The human could always pull away—get off his lap and leave. He was free to do so.

But he didn’t.

He liked feeling wanted. He wanted Taehyung to keep going—to keep fantasising about him, chasing after something that was more than just his blood. It was exhilarating.

“Thought you were in a rush to check out.”

Jungkook’s eyes went wide, abruptly pulling away from Taehyung’s touch. “Fuck- right.”

“Distracted?” Taehyung cocked an eyebrow.

“Shut up.”

✧˚ · .

Taehyung tried to wait to eat the pie Jungkook made for him. He placed it on his bedside table for the next morning—next morning meaning 12 midnight on the dot. He impatiently watched the clock that read ‘10:48’ before staring back up at the ceiling with his hands placed in his lap.

He could smell it.

He could smell Jungkook’s blood infesting his nose, and he felt unbelievably weak. His fingers twitched on his lap, trying to shift his focus from the infused pie he purposely kept close to test himself.

He was already seeing signs of a blood bond forming. He knew Jungkook was…odd, but the way he rushed to take care of the small burn on his arm was not normal. He was already starting to care about him simply because Taehyung couldn’t control his urges.

It wasn’t too late to undo it. He could fix this.

That’s what he thought before his finger was already in the pie. Just his fingertip traced the top layer of the warm, dark maroon pie filling.

One taste wouldn’t hurt.

His hand trembled with excitement, leading his coated index finger to the tip of his tongue. He closed his lips around it, and his eyes flustered close, his head leaning back.

Without even thinking, his hand found its way to the pie again, this time his finger diving in knuckle deep. His finger got to the bottom of the dish, collecting two times more than he did before.

He brought it to his mouth again, groaning around his finger with the taste of Jungkook’s sweet blood on his tongue. His other hand found its way to his pants, gripping his member over the fabric.

He should stop.

He knew he should’ve, but he found himself reaching for another taste, then another…then another. The blood stained his face— his lips, his cheeks, his nose were painted red.

Jungkook was all over him.

His cock strained against his pants, and his hand quickly scrambled to unbuckle his belt. He used his other hand to guide him in the frenzy, clumsily smearing some blood on his boxers.

He paused for a second, his eyes focusing on the red stain.

“Fuck.” He let out a heavy breath through his nostrils, his eyes rolling back. His hips thrusted upwards into his hand, inhaling the smell of Jungkook’s blood on the tips of his fingers. His tongue caught what was dripping down his forearm because he’d never waste a single drop.

A knock on his door pulled him out of his trance. It was Jungkook, who else could it have been? He kept silent, holding his breath in hopes Jungkook would take the hint.

Then there was another knock. Longer this time. Impatient.

Taehyung sighed as he got out of bed. He didn’t even bother making himself look presentable before opening the door.

“Hey! I…” Jungkook’s voice trailed off when he caught sight of Taehyung. His hair was ruffled, eyes half lidded, face smudged with a mixture of blood and custard—the same as his fingers. His eyes travelled further down and saw his unbuckled belt and, oh-

He was clearly interrupting something.

His face heated up, quickly turning his head away from the obvious bulge he caught himself staring at for a second too long. “U-uh..” He cleared his throat.

“You need me?”

“No, I uh- um, I just wanted to know…” His eyes drifted again. The red stain made it hard to look away, and he couldn’t help but wonder what the fuck Taehyung was doing behind the door. “Did you have fun today?”

“That’s what you came to ask me?” He raised an eyebrow.

“I mean, I dragged you all the way out there, I just wanna make sure you didn’t have the worst time of your life.”

“I-“

“And I caught you smiling once, so don’t lie!”  It was less of a smile and more of a subtle twitch of his lips, but he took it as a good sign.

“Alright.” Taehyung sighed, and Jungkook watched him lick the blood off his thumb. “I guess I did have fun.”

“Really?” Jungkook smiled, not expecting such a straightforward—and not to mention, honest answer. “So, maybe you wouldn’t like coming again? Not tomorrow, just…one day.”

“Sure.” He shrugged, already pushing the door up in a rush to get back to what he was doing. “Is that all?”

“You’re eating the pie?” He asked as if the answer wasn’t obvious by the red stains on Taehyung’s body and clothes

“Yeah.”

“Is it…” He glanced at the bulge spilling over the vampire zipper again.

Taehyung caught him that time.

“..good?”

Taehyung smirked. “What do you think?” He breathed out before shutting the door in Jungkook’s face.

Jungkook just stood there, staring at the door with wide eyes.

Was Taehyung getting off to the taste of his blood?

He should’ve gone right back to his room the very second he understood what Taehyung could’ve been doing behind the door. He should’ve respected his privacy, especially in his own home. He should’ve gone back to his room.

But he didn’t.

He found himself leaning closer, pressing his ear against the door, listening for anything. All he could hear was subtle, unidentifiable movement and the faint sound of Taehyung's breath.

It sounded far too close. Almost like Taehyung was right behind the door.

“Mm, I can smell you, Jungkook..”

The human froze when he heard his name in what sounded like a moan.

He bit down on his lip, trying to make as little noise as possible. He still couldn’t bring himself to leave, his feet rooted in the floor.

“I can hear your heart beating.” He breathed out, his voice raw and raspy. “You know it’s very rude to listen when you won’t even give me a hand.”

Jungkook’s hand rested on the doorknob, his fingers twitching to twist it, but he knew if he opened the door, he’d freeze. He didn’t know what to do; he’s never even seen another man naked past their waist. Just a second ago, he had never heard his name be moaned before.

He couldn’t.

“Or do you just like listening to me?”

Jungkook squeezed his eyes shut when he felt his pants tighten. He wouldn’t dare let his hand wander down there.

He still tried to pretend he wasn’t there, keeping his silence to trick Taehyung, but it was a terrible effort. Even if the vampire’s nose and ears were tricking him, he could see the shadow of Jungkook’s feet under the door.

“That’s right, stand there and listen to me.” Taehyung chuckled. “I want you to listen.”

✧˚ · .

Jungkook’s been stalking the vampire. For the past two weeks, he’s been sneaking around corners, peeking behind walls, watching behind counters, and it didn’t go unnoticed by Taehyung. He thought it was just another odd human ritual he didn’t quite understand yet, but it was going on far too long.

“Jungkook..” Taehyung sighed, stopping in his tracks. He was on his way to work, and Jungkook was busy hiding behind the nearest pole or tree as he followed behind him. “Are you done?”

“How could you have possibly known I was here?!” Jungkook’s eyes peeked out at him.

“Call it a sixth sense.” He shrugged, putting both his hands in his pockets as he walked towards Jungkook. “Can you tell me what you want—more specifically, can you tell me why you’ve been following me around for weeks?”

“Would you believe me if I said I missed you?” Jungkook smiled cheekily.

“You missed me?” Taehyung cocked an eyebrow. “You have ten seconds to tell me the truth. Ten, nine..”

“I like taking strolls at night.”

“You’re a fucking liar, eight, seven, six-“

Lately, he noticed something else about Jungkook—he was afraid of the dark. He wasn't sure if it was something he always struggled with or something that started after the attack, but Jungkook refused to turn the lights off at night.

The most damning evidence, he had been sneaking into Taehyung’s room at night when he thought he was asleep and falling asleep at the foot of the bed. He slipped back out early in the morning, and Taehyung never brought it up.

“I wanna get to know you more! We’ve been living with each other for weeks, and I don’t even know what your job is. I was just curious.” His lips pouted. He had gotten really good at lying; he couldn’t care less about Taehyung’s job. He wasn’t even sure vampires had jobs; he just wanted one thing—to catch him smiling.

“Alright, come.” He didn’t think it was a big deal; he’d be a fool to see Jungkook as an actual threat.

“Wait, really?” Jungkook hopped closer, his long, fluffy hair bouncing with him. Taehyung ignored the cute sight and started walking off ahead of him, then Jungkook followed along. He stayed close by his side. Taehyung didn’t even realise he was holding on to a single thread of his clothes. He led him to a bar in a shady part of town he’s never been to. “You’re a bartender?”

Taehyung didn’t respond. Jungkook frowned as he followed him to the back of the building—a storage room with police tape and an ‘out of service’ elevator. At this point, Jungkook was getting skeptical, but he blindly trusted Taehyung and stuck by his side.

The elevator doors opened, and almost immediately, the scent took over his nose. Iron? Or was that blood? Was this an illegal underground drug ring? He couldn’t tell. He tried to get a good look around but was blocked by Taehyung’s body. It was almost like he was hiding him.

“Hyunjin.” Taehyung sighed. “What do you want? Blood or human?”

“Human..” He glanced over Taehyung’s shoulder and saw a pair of brown doe eyes staring back at him. “Hey.”

“Hi.” Jungkook smiled brightly, raising his hand to wave, but his smile quickly faded when he heard Hyunjin speak again.

“Can I have this one?”

“No.” Taehyung answered quicker than Jungkook processed the question.

“Is he for someone else?” He asked, his head tilting to get a better look at him. “I’ll be gentle with you, I-“

“Don’t-“ Taehyung’s hand reached for his collar, grabbing him without thinking. Jungkook’s eyes went wide, waiting for Taehyung’s fist to meet his jaw, but instead he loosened his grip and pulled away. “Don’t speak to him. I have someone for you, sit.”

“But-“ Hyunjin’s voice quickly got whiny, more than ready to beg for the pretty human hiding behind Taehyung.

“Sit.” He repeated. It was a safe space for some vampires, somewhere they knew they’d been taken care of, but Hyunjin had the habit of making everyone tense. He couldn’t be trusted.

“Will it take you two days like last time?” Hyunjin muttered under his breath when he took a seat.

“Oh? Is that what you want?” Taehyung cocked an eyebrow. “I can make you wait much longer. Would you like that?”

“No-“

“With the way you just spoke to me, it seems like you don’t mind the wait.”

“Sorry.” He muttered.

“Speak up.”

“I’m sorry.” Hyunjin raised his voice with a small hint of attitude that made Taehyung almost laugh. He turned to Jungkook, his hand resting on his waist before he spoke.

“Wait in my office down the hall until I get back.” He whispered. “Yoongi’s in there.”

“Who’s there? Wait, you’re leaving?” He frowned, his pupils dilating when his eyes met Taehyung’s. He was still confused. Where was he, what did that random guy want from him and what exactly was Taehyung’s job? “But I thought—“

“Relax, I’ll be back soon, you can’t come with me.”

“Why not?”

“You want to go human hunting?”

“Fine.” He sighed. For a brief second, he made eye contact with Hyunjin. He was staring—staring him down like he knew him from somewhere. He tried his best to ignore his gaze and quickly rushed down the hall. He opened the only door he saw.

“Hi, Yoongi.” He waved at the stranger sitting on top of a desk, which seemed to be Taehyung’s. “Taehyung told me to come here.”

“Taehyung sent you to his office?” Yoongi questioned. He doesn’t ‘send’ people to his office, and by the look of his warm skin tone and cheerful presence, he was definitely human. “You’re Jungkook, aren’t you?”

“Oh, you know about me?” He giggled. All he heard was ‘Taehyung talks about you’ “So, are you Taehyung’s friend?”

“I guess you could say that.” Yoongi shrugged. They’ve known each other for centuries, but friend isn’t exactly the word he’d use to describe Taehyung. They were family.

“Friend, wow.” Jungkook never expected Taehyung to have a friend. He tried to picture it in his head—imagining what the vampire would look like, grabbing a drink, and laughing. He couldn’t see it happening. “So you’d say you know him, right? The things that piss him off, the things that make him happy?”

“I guess?”

“So…for research purposes, what makes him smile? What makes him the happiest?”

“What’s going on here? Do you have a crush on him or something?”

“What?!” Jungkook choked, blushing at the sudden accusation. He’s only been talking to him for a couple of minutes, and he’s already been accused of something so…ridiculous. “No, I-“

“No offence, but I don’t exactly think you’re his type.”

“Not his type?” Jungkook took a step back, crossing his arms in front of him. “I’ll have you know I’m a fucking catch. You don’t…you don’t think I’m cute?”

“You’re plenty cute. Very pretty, but pretty won’t get you anywhere with Taehyung when you’re a human.”

“Didn’t know vampires were so prejudiced." Jungkook muttered, hopping on top of Taehyung’s desk. “Besides, it doesn’t matter; I don’t want him.”

“Right…” Yoongi chuckled. “That’s why you care so much about him finding you attractive?”

“That’s not.. Whatever, I just need to know what makes him smile because he needs to look approachable. My best friend thinks I’m living with a psychopath.”

“You are.” He shrugged. “But if you’re trying to convince your friend otherwise, if I’m being honest, your blood makes him pretty happy.”

Taehyung’s been humming lately. Yoongi has never heard him hum and tap his foot along to the beat. He almost appeared to be happy, maybe even peaceful. He did everything but click his heels when he walked.

“Really? Is it that good?” Jungkook leaned against his desk with a cocky grin on his face. “Here, taste it.”

Yoongi flinched back. “I have a great relationship with Taehyung. If he comes back and finds a bite on your body that wasn’t from him, he’ll kill me.”

“Right, he’s so dramatic.” Jungkook rolled his eyes. “But I need something that actually makes him smile. He doesn’t smile when he feeds from me; he’s not exactly happy. I mean- he gets…excited?”

“You mean horny?”

Jungkook blushed. “I didn’t say all that.”

“You didn’t have to. Every vampire’s different when they feed, and an emotion intensifies. Some get happy, aggressive, emotional, and for Taehyung, it’s horny. It’s completely normal.”

“So, it wasn’t just in my head?” He mumbled, the memory of Taehyung groaning against his neck and pressing their bodies together vivid in his mind.

Of course, he couldn’t forget the sound of him coming as he licked his blood off his fingers on the other side of the door. That night still felt like a fever dream.

Taehyung never brought it up, probably to save the virgin human who was too shy to open the door from any further embarrassment.

Though the way Taehyung looks at him sometimes…he knows he’s thinking about it.

“No, I know how he is. He gets a thrill out of it, especially with your blood; he won’t shut up about it. He acts like your blood is the most valuable thing he possesses. Why do you think I asked if you liked him? You’re probably already fucking for all I know.” Yoongi laughed when he saw Jungkook’s eyes go wide. At this point, he was only teasing to see his reaction.

“You’re very opinionated for someone I just met. We are not..fucking.” He whispered. “Do you think he’s ticklish?”

“Hm, actually, I don’t know. I don’t think anyone’s ever tried.”

“No one knows if he’s ticklish? He’s like 1000 years old, and no one’s ever tried?”

“Seven hundred and twenty-seven. Seven twenty-eight on the 30th of December.” He was surprised that he remembered his exact age; Taehyung didn’t even remember it himself. He’d always round up his age; he stopped caring after his 200th birthday.

“Wait, but that’s…” Jungkook counted on his fingers. “That’s next month! Are you gonna have a party?”

“Why would we?”

“…Cause it’s his birthday, don’t you guys celebrate?”

“After 700 years, it gets a bit repetitive, don’t you think?” Yoongi shrugged. It wouldn’t shock him if Taehyung didn’t remember his own birthday. “Besides, I’m the only person Taehyung tolerates; it’d be a party of two.”

“He tolerates me, too!”

“Sure, that’s what we’ll call it.”

“It’d be a party of three, and since you guys don’t really celebrate birthdays, it could be a surprise. He wouldn’t even see it coming. We’d have ice cream, chips, drinks, games…blood, it’ll be fun. Please?” Jungkook clasped his hands, his lip jutting out as he begged Yoongi to help him plan. “Don’t you wanna see your best friend celebrate his birthday and maybe smile again?”

“Fuck, you’re just as manipulative as he is. I’ll help, but I can’t promise he’ll like it.”

“Who?” Taehyung walked in, only hearing the last part of their conversation.

“I was uh…” Jungkook hopped down and shook his head, trying to think of something on the spot. “Trying to set up Yoongi with my friend, but you didn’t tell me how shy he was.”

“What?” Yoongi quickly turned his head to him.

“You know, he told me he was feeling a little insecure about his long hair, and I told him it looks good, but he doesn’t think my friend will like it.” He frowned while Yoongi stared at him, his lips parted, completely appalled by how easy it was for him to lie. “He looks good, right?”

“Your hair looks fine?” Taehyung shrugged, his gaze switching between Yoongi and Jungkook. They looked suspicious. Something was telling him he should’ve never allowed the two alone in a room.

“You know, for this I actually deserve your friend’s number.” Yoongi muttered under his breath.

“Fine, I’ll give you later.” Jungkook rolled his eyes. He turned to Taehyung, his eyes shifting down to his shirt. “Your shirt has blood on it.”

“Where?” Before Taehyung could manage to look, Jungkook’s hands grabbed his waist in an attempt to tickle him. He stood there in confusion as Jungkook’s hands traveled up his shirt.

“Hey, slow down.” He whispered in a teasing tone. “We’re really doing this while Yoongi’s in the room?”

“Yeah, I’m leaving.” Yoongi tried to hide the disgust on his face when he walked out the door.

“Happy now? You have me all to yourself, should I lock the door too?”

“Stop that.” Jungkook shoved him away when he realised what he was implying. “I wasn’t trying…whatever you thought. I was just trying to tickle you.”

“Well, you're wasting your time.” He walked past him and sat in his chair.

“You have to be ticklish somewhere.”

“Oh, yeah? Come find out.” He teased him. “Why’re you trying to tickle me?”

“I wanna see you smile.”

“I smile all the time.”

“A genuine smile, not that evil conniving smile when you’re teasing me and being an asshole.”Jungkook glared at him. He hopped up on Taehyung’s desk again and sat on the very edge, subconsciously swinging his feet back and forth. “My friend wants a picture of you so he knows you’re not a bad guy, and if I take a picture with you looking like…this-” He pointed to Taehyung’s face. “It’s not gonna do you any justice.”

“If you took a picture of me, he’d think you’re schizophrenic. I don’t show up on camera.” Not even technology could capture supernatural beings like Taehyung; that’s why vampires have managed to hide under the radar for so long.

No photographic evidence, and just like that, humans thought they were going insane. What they saw was just a figment of their imagination.

“So, you don’t have any pictures of yourself?”

“No.” All he had was an old painting of him as a little boy with his family—a picture he preserved and kept locked away in his room. “If you want me to smile, you’ll have to give me something to smile about, but don’t hold your breath.”

“Mm, I don’t think it’s as hard as you claim it to be.” He leaned. “I bet you’re handsome when you smile, huh?”

“I always am.” He tried to ignore the warm sensation he felt in his chest.

“You almost smiled for a second.” Jungkook smirked.

“I didn’t.” He cleared his throat. “Is that why you’ve actually been following me around? You’ve been waiting for me to smile?… That's all?”

“Yeah, why?”

“No reason.”

✧˚ · .

It was 4 am. Jungkook isn’t used to staying up so late, but that’s the time they went home. His eyes were barely open as he dragged his feet on the floor towards his bedroom. That’s when he felt Taehyung’s hand around his wrist.

“My room tonight.”

Jungkook wasn’t sure if he was hearing right. Maybe it was his exhaustion getting to him when he heard those words.

“Why?”

“Well, you’re gonna sneak in in the middle of the night and sleep on the floor anyway.”

“Sorry.” He whispered, hanging his head low. Taehyung was a lighter sleeper than he suspected; he couldn’t even imagine how long he’s known. He’s been keeping this up since the very night he moved in.

He’s grown terrified of the dark after the attack, and oddly enough, the same vampire who threatened to kill him if he didn’t keep up his end of the deal made him feel safe. After all, he was the one who saved his life.

“It’s just really cold in my room, and yours is warmer, so..”

“It’s warmer?” Taehyung raised an eyebrow. It was a ridiculously obvious lie, but the vampire had mercy on him this time. “Get your pillow and come, yeah?”

“Okay..” Jungkook mumbled sleepily, still a little confused as he walked to his room. He quickly changed into his oversized shirt and comfortable pants designed with cupcakes. A part of him was excited to sleep in Taehyung’s room; this time, he wouldn’t have to worry about oversleeping and getting caught. He could finally get a good night of rest for the most part.

“What’re you doing?” Taehyung blinked, watched Jungkook get down on the floor along with his pillow. “Bed.”

“With you?” He nervously bit his lip, his eyes peeking over the bed. Now should've been the time to mention he’s never slept in a bed with another man—not even Namjoon’s. Their sleepovers usually consisted of sleeping bags.

“Are you shy or something?” All the lights were off, but the subtly glowing of the moon through his curtains was just enough to see Jungkook’s crimson cheeks.

“What?! No!” His lips formed a pout as he climbed into his bed simply to prove a point. He laid down on the very edge, so close that any sudden movement would’ve resulted in him rolling back onto the floor. He had his hands by his sides, as stiff as a board, as he stared up at the ceiling.

He flinched when he heard Taehyung’s voice next to him.

“Come closer.”

“You don’t need me closer.”

“No, I want you closer.” He rephrased.

“Whatever.” Jungkook muttered. He couldn’t admit how much he liked hearing those words, so instead he slowly scooted closer to Taehyung. He turned his back to him the second he realised he was far too close, but the vampire didn’t mind. He took the opportunity to bury his nose into Jungkook's nape, holding him closer to his chest as he smelt the blood coursing through his veins.

“Didn’t you already feed from me today?” Jungkook wouldn’t mind if he had his way with him again, but it was the only boundary Taehyung seemed hell-bent on—only feeding once a day.

“Who said anything about feeding?” Taehyung felt calm; just the smell of his human’s blood put him at ease. He had forgotten what it felt like lying with a human. Their warmth comforted him, reminding him of a time he wasn’t immortal.

Taehyung’s hand snuck up his shirt, pressing his palm against Jungkook’s chest, right over where his heart was. Jungkook shivered at the touch of his cold skin.

“Calm down, I can hear your heart racing. Am I scaring you?”

“No, that’s not it.”

“Then..?”

“Y-your…” He wasn’t sure if Taehyung was just teasing him like he always does but he didn’t want to say it aloud. He didn’t want to say he could feel his lips brushing against his neck, he could feel his fingertips under his shirt, tracing his toned body, he didn’t want to say he liked it. He liked that Taehyung couldn’t help but put his hands on him so gently compared to his rather rough persona. “It doesn’t matter. I wanted to ask you something.”

“More questions?” He sighed.

“I’m just a little curious! So, your job is…what? Hunting humans so vampires can feed? What do you do with the humans after?”

“I let them go.”

Jungkook blinked, the room going quiet because that wasn’t the answer he was expecting at all. “You just…let them go?”

“I make them forget what happened and take them home.”

“Make them forget? Like, manipulate their memories?” The human mumbled. He’s heard a lot of rumours about vampires. He’s heard of mind control, but it always seemed too far-fetched.  “I didn’t know you could do that.”

“You never asked.” And Taehyung should’ve never told him. He found himself letting his guard down around the human more than he should have. “You thought I killed them, didn’t you? That’s why you asked?”

“No, no, I was just…” Jungkook scrambled to find an excuse. “Okay, maybe, but can you really blame me? One of the first things you let me know when we first met was that you weren’t afraid to kill.”

“I only kill when it’s necessary.” Taehyung hasn’t killed many, but when they pose a threat to his life or someone he cares about, he has no choice. Maybe he felt remorse for his first victim, but over time, it’s become something he enjoys. Nothing was sweeter than revenge. “I usually don’t kill humans because I don’t find them threatening; it’d be a waste of energy.”

“So, you’re really just pretending to be some tough guy?” Jungkook giggled.

“…What?”

“Well, I mean, I think you should just change your perspective a little bit. If vampires need blood to live and you found a way to provide that without anyone dying, I’d say that’s pretty selfless, don’t you think?”

No one’s ever put it in those words. It was far from the truth. Taehyung simply loved hunting for his prey, and what better way to do it than running an underground blood trade? Surely, Jungkook was too sleepy to think straight, or maybe he’s just as naive as he thought.

“I don’t do it for them, I do it for me. I do it for the money, my reputation, my legacy. Don’t kid yourself, I’m not a good guy, Jungkook.”

“Well, I think you could be.” He whispered. “You just don’t want to, you like it when people are afraid of you.”

“You barely know me.”

“I know enough.” Jungkook hasn’t been following Taehyung solely for the purpose of seeing him smile; he was fascinated with him—as any human would be with a supernatural being. “I know your actions keep contradicting this scary persona you’re trying to push.”

“What’re you-“

“I know you’re letting me sleep in your bed cause I’m too scared to sleep by myself. You handpicked a basket of berries for me, even though you had already saved my life. You even followed me to the orphanage, and I know someone can’t wait to see you again.”

“Haneul?” Taehyung didn’t even expect her to remember him, not with the short attention span of a five year old.

“Yeah, she’s been asking for you. You know she gets picked on by some of the other kids, so you being nice really meant a lot to her…and me.”

“Did you expect to be an asshole to a little girl?”

“Well, you supposedly hate humans.”

“Humans decided to hate me first. I’m only returning the favour.”

Taehyung believed vampires did what they needed to do to survive. They hurt, manipulate, and hunt solely to keep living, while humans—selfish humans– did so for sport. And their world had an abundance of selfish humans.

Then they had the gall to call others monsters.

“Who’s the first human who hurt you?”

The room went silent. Silent enough to hear Taehyung’s heartbeat against his back. Was that a sore topic? The vampire didn’t seem like the type to be affected by a personal question. Jungkook wanted to turn back to meet his eyes, but Taehyung spoke before he did.

“What?”

“You said humans decided to hate you first; you must’ve been talking about someone. So, who was the first-“

“If you're going to spend all night thinking before you speak and asking me personal questions like that, you can go ahead and sleep in your own room.”

He felt Taehyung’s hand slowly pulling away and rushed to keep him close. He wrapped his hand around his wrist. He still couldn’t understand why Taehyung’s skin was ice cold, but it still comforted him. “No, I’m sorry. I was just- I wasn’t thinking. I wanna stay, but…I have one more question.”

“Jesus-“

“It’s about me.”

“About you?” Taehyung’s hand snaked higher, his finger wrapping around the human's neck. He gently turned his head towards him, Jungkook’s breath hitching when he noticed how close they were. “Ask.”

“Would you ever give me away?”

“Give you away?” Taehyung’s thumb pressed down on Jungkook’s pulse. He wasn’t sure if the intense beat was fear or just apprehension.

“That guy earlier. He said he wanted me, and I know you said no, but would you ever do that if you had to?”

“Is that a serious question?”

“I mean, you could just do it and just make me forget, couldn’t you? You could just let another vampire have me and-”

“Have you?” The hypothetical was so ridiculous that Taehyung almost laughed in his face. If another vampire so much as smelled Jungkook’s blood, he was sure they wouldn’t live much longer to remember it. “Are you serious? I thought I made it very clear that you’re mine.”

“Am I?” Jungkook looked up at him, his eyes wide and filled with hope. Taehyung’s heart pounded—faster than he heard the human’s, not being able to look away from the small twinkle he managed to catch in Jungkook’s eyes. “I’m yours?”

“Mine to taste.” He clarified.

“Right. Yours to taste.”

The disappointment in Jungkook’s voice was something Taehyung didn’t think would affect him. He wanted to fix it. He wanted to comfort him, bring back the sweet tune of his voice, but he knew couldn’t. He couldn’t give the human false hope, and he definitely couldn’t allow a blood bond to form between them.

No matter how tempting it was.

“I’m not going out with a vampire.” Namjoon sighed, leaning back in his chair with a book held in front of his face to block Jungkook’s puppy dog eyes.

“Please, hyung!” Jungkook pleaded. It was just supposed to be a peaceful morning at the local cafe, but he had Namjooon cornered. “Do you know how many people want a vampire boyfriend? I swear he’s cute.”

“I don’t care how cute he is, I’m not turning into a living blood bag like you.”

“It’s not like I’m Taehyung’s boyfriend or anything.” He nervously tucked his hair behind his ear and cleared his throat when he felt his face heating up. “We just have a deal. He made that very clear.”

Namjoon lowered his book and raised an eyebrow. It’s been weeks now, and he couldn’t believe he was still denying his feelings for him.

It was obvious puppy love. Namjoon could tell just by the way he had to restrain himself from bringing him up, and when he was inevitably brought up, the tips of Jungkook’s ears turned red, and he’d chew on his inner cheek to stop himself from smiling. It was exactly what he was doing right now.

“But you’re throwing a birthday party for him just to see him smile?”

“Yeah, because… birthdays are important!” He had completely forgotten why he even decided to throw a party for him; he got caught up in the excitement of it. “Oh, Yoongi hyung’s here.”

Namjoon didn’t want to admit it, but he became a bit jealous. Jungkook found a new hyung—one that he seemed to be fond of already. All of his jealousy disappeared when his eyes met Yoongi’s.

He caught himself smiling, his dimples appearing. “Fuck, you were right.”

“Hyung!” Jungkook hopped up, throwing his arms around his new friend like he had known him for years when they had only been texting about Taehyung’s birthday party.

“Hey, Jungkook.” He ruffled his hair. “Sorry, I’m late, lying to Taehyung isn’t easy.”

“What? I lie to him all the time.”

“And he’s never once believed you.” Yoongi offered to distract Taehyung while the party was being set up. He was sure Jungkook would give it away the second he opened his mouth. “So, what’s the plan again? Just distract him all day?”

“Yeah, you can do that, right? I just need a couple of hours to decorate. You two could go on a cute little human hunting date.”

“You and I have two different definitions of cute.” Namjoon muttered.

“Yeah, yours is sitting right across from us.” Jungkook blurted out and felt Namjoon’s foot swiftly kick his shin under the table. Yoongi looked between them, flushing when his eyes met Namjoon’s for just a quick moment.

“Anyways, human hunting sounds fun.” He changed the subject.

“Wait, you can’t tell him you know it’s his birthday today. Make him think you completely forgot, break his heart if you have to.”

“Break his heart? I doubt he even knows it’s his birthday today.” Yoongi shrugged. “Is it even this serious?”

Namjoon shot a warning look at him, subtly shaking his head.

“What? It’s just a little party.”

Jungkook’s left eye twitched.

“Just a little party?”

“Oh gosh.” Namjoon sighed, lowering his head while he waited to hear Jungkook start ranting.

“Who do you think I am?” Jungkook scoffed. Death-themed decorations, vampire-themed food, a homemade cake, music, party activities he’d probably have to convince Taehyung to participate in— he had everything perfectly planned. “You know, I understand you’ve never been to one of my parties, but I throw the best parties in this town, whether it’s two guests or two hundred, and when Taehyung sees it, he’s gonna drop dead…again! I don’t think you’re taking this party seriously. Did you even buy him a present?”

“No.”

“You keep saying the wrong things.” Namjoon muttered under his breath.

“What?” Yoongi looked between them in confusion while they both shook their heads. He’s been looked at like a monster for his entire undead life, but not even that could compare to the disappointment written on their face. “Is that a crime now? I don’t know what he wants.”

“He’s been your best friend for centuries, and you don’t know what he wants? He’s never mentioned one thing that he wants?”

“He wants you, but he already has that, doesn’t he? You want me to put a bow on your head and give him you?” Yoongi teased.

“Yeah, he could unwrap you too, bet you’d love that, huh?” Namjoon joined in.

Jungkook felt his body heat up. He knew they were joking, but he loved it. He loved the thought of being Taehyung’s gift—the one thing that he wanted. “…You know I don’t think I like you guys together. Just get him a present before you go on your human hunting trip.”

Human hunting was what Yoongi had in mind, but the two vampires ended up running through the forest like two idiots. It’s something they’d always do when they were just young vampires testing out their new speed.

They’d race through the forest when the moon was out, the branches would, and leaves would brush against their bodies, scaring their skin, but they’d still be laughing as they saw who could get to the river first. Then they’d collapse, lying on their backs in the dirt while they tried to catch their breath.

“All these years and I still beat you every time.” Taehyung laughed, his hand resting on his stomach as he watched Yoongi fall to the ground with him.

“It’s not fair, my legs are shorter.” He muttered under his breath. “You didn’t wanna look for humans tonight?”

“I already fed today.”

“That’s never stopped you before.” Taehyung always had more self-control than other vampires, but he’d never turn down the opportunity to feel the thrill of hunting his prey. Lately, things have changed. Taehyung’s been doing something he knew was dangerous—solely drinking Jungkook’s blood. “Is it really that good?”

“I think I’m addicted to him.” He breathed out.

He was ashamed of himself; he could never have imagined he’d be in the position of completely relying on a human. He found himself mesmerised by his bratty behaviour, smitten with his innocence and compassion. He even found himself caring for him

Yoongi turned to him, concern written on his face. “Him or his blood?”

“Him.” Taehyung didn’t miss a beat. “I can’t get enough of him. I don’t even look at any other humans; I don’t crave their blood anymore. It’s all…him.”

“Fuck.” Yoongi sat up, his elbows burying into the grass. “You think you’re bonded.”

Taehyung glanced at him for a second, afraid to answer honestly.

“I told you to be careful.”

“I was. I’m being careful…at first. I only fed once a day, and I tried to keep my distance. It’s his fault.” Taehyung groaned. It was frustrating; he couldn’t stay away, he couldn’t just look at Jungkook and tell him no. “With the fucking puppy dog eyes, following me around, cooking for me, hugging me, kissing my cheek, just the other day he fucking…he just crawled in my lap and told me to feed as much as I need. It’s like he wants me to want him.”

“Or maybe he just likes you.”

“He barely knows me; I didn’t ask him to like me.” He knew there was a bond between them. He knew the very moment his heart started racing, worrying for the human when he ran after being drained of his blood.

That day, he was so terrified Jungkook would pass out or even worse. He’s never felt something like that before. This wasn’t like him. He wasn’t like other vampires, allowing his bloodlust to get the best of him.

“I’ve managed to survive centuries without ever forming a blood bond. I didn’t think he would be my demise. He doesn’t even know what a blood bond is.”

Jungkook had no clue what he was doing to Taehyung, no clue how much power he really had.

“Mm, are you sure it’s just a blood bond and not…something more, maybe?”

“Something more?” Taehyung sat up. “Is there something stronger than a blood bond?”

“I could think of one thing. When was the first time you realised you cared for him? The first time you did something for him and not for your own benefit?”

Taehyung shrugged. “I’d say the very first time was when I picked his berries for him, but that was only two days after we met, a blood bond couldn’t have possibly formed so early.”

“Unless…” Yoongi slowly turned to him with a knowing look on his face. It was just a myth–at least to Taehyung it was, but other vampires believed in soulmates tied for an eternity by fate. It was rare; their blood bond would already be formed from the very first bite, but Taehyung thought it was ridiculous.

The one thing believed to be stronger than a blood bond was love.

“Don't even go there.”

“You’re fucking impossible. Just be honest, do you have feelings for him, yes or no?”

Yoongi understood Taehyung’s denial and disdain for love. The last time he put his heart on the line, it destroyed him. It destroyed his view of love, humanity, and even himself. Taehyung used to be a completely different person.

Back then, being a vampire seemed like a dream. It was so long ago when being immortal seemed like a dream, but soon Taehyung realised it was a trap. Mortality was a prison forcing him to live on with every mistake, every regret, and heartache, while everyone else knew they’d eventually be put to rest.

“You’re not gonna let this go.” Taehyung gulped, quickly lying back down to avoid eye contact. “Come on, it’s not…that—whatever you’re thinking. My attraction to Jungkook is purely physical.”

“You would’ve fucked him a long time ago if that were the case, but from what I’ve heard, you’ve been cuddling with him in your bed every night.” Taehyung’s eyes widened, almost choking on his spit. He was mortified.

“He told you that?”

“Yeah, he told me that. He told me Kim Taehyung was wrapping arms around him and telling him goodnight.”

“It’s nothing romantic, I can smell his blood when he’s close, it’s…comforting. That’s all that was.” Taehyung’s fingers nervously fiddled with the grass below him, tugging each one out of the ground. He felt something he hadn’t felt since he was a human. He was shy. “Besides, he’s a virgin, that’s why I haven’t even…”

“Oh, I see.” Yoongi sighed, nodding his head. “So, you care about him?”

“It’s the blood bond.” Taehyung insisted. “That’s all this is. It’s making me care, making me feel this way. I can’t allow myself to fall in love with another human.”

“Tae-”

“Hyung, I can’t.” He shook his head. “I can’t go through that again.”

It was centuries ago when Taehyung had only just turned. His family and friends were still alive, he was surrounded by love, not realising the consequences of being immortal. He watched as the love of his life aged without him, and thought it was the perfect time to tell her what he was—the creature he had become to show her there was a chance for them to be together for eternity.

He had the perfect life planned out in his head; they’d both be bonded for eternity like they always dreamed of. It would’ve all worked according to plan if she hadn’t been terrified of him the day she found out what he was.

Taehyung couldn’t forget the blood curdling scream when he took a step closer, the tears of horror that escaped her eyes, looking at him like she no longer knew who he was. He’d never forget the word she used. Monster.

He was naive enough to think it would blow over, to think she’d remember he was the man she fell in love with, the one who cared for, the one she planned a future and family with, but when she left, she never returned.

“This is different. Jungkook already knows who you are.”

“He thinks he does. He keeps trying to convince me I’m a good person and when he finds out I’m not- when he finds out what I did to him-“

“What did you do?”

Taehyung shook his head, far too ashamed to say it aloud. He never knew he’d grow so fond of Jungkook.

“He’d never forgive me. Even if it’s what you said it is—if we have something stronger than a blood bond, the second he finds out what I’ve done, there’s no hope of-”

“You don’t know that.”

“I do. I’ll always have bad luck with love, and that’s just something I’ll have to live with.” He muttered. “But I think you should go out with Jungkook’s friend.”

“What?” Yoongi blushed, shocked by the sudden change of topic.

“I don’t want you to think it’s not worth it just because of what happened to me. You never know what can happen.”

✧˚ · .

Taehyung was rarely caught off guard; it’d take a lot to startle him, but hearing Jungkook yell ‘surprise!’, leaping from behind the corner the second he turned on the lights was something he definitely didn’t expect.

He opened his mouth to speak before being met with a pile of red and black confetti being shot in his face. He stumbled back into Yoongi, staring at Jungkook in confusion.

He quickly whipped his head around to his best friend, searching for answers, but he only nudged him closer to Jungkook. That’s when he heard ‘happy birthday’.

“Today’s my birthday?” He muttered, his eyes scanning his decorated house.

There were balloons filled with helium that clung to the ceiling, a gender reveal banner that read ‘it’s a boy vamp’, a table of gifts, what seemed to be jazz music playing, and Jungkook wearing a party hat and fake vampire fangs from his last Halloween party.

Taehyung’s head hung low. “This is so fucking stupid.” He whispered to himself.

A big smile came to his face, his laughter echoing louder than the music as tears welled in his eyes.

“I told you it’s work!” Jungkook gasped, his fingers pointing towards Taehyung’s pearly whites. His eyes crinkled into crescents while his long eyelashes blocked his vision, and his lips curled into a perfectly imperfect charming square shape. Somehow, his fangs weren’t as intimidating anymore; they almost made him look cute. It definitely wasn’t a smile Jungkook would forget any time soon.

“You’re unbelievable.”

“Do you like it? It’s vampire themed.” Jungkook smiled proudly. He wasn’t sure what happiness looked like on Taehyung, but he was sure it had to be this. It was a good colour on him to say the least.

Taehyung’s smile only got wider, hearing Jungkook’s lisp even more prominent with plastic fangs in his mouth. Everything the human did, he found endearing.

“Yeah, I can see that. Is that why you’re wearing fake fangs?”

“Yeah, I didn’t wanna ruin the mood with my mortality. Do you like it or not?” His lips formed a pout. “Tell me you like it.”

Taehyung gripped his jaw, almost cooing when he saw Jungkook’s cheeks puff out between his fingers. He tugged him closer. “You love using your cute little face as your secret weapon, hm?”

“Depends. Is it working on you?”

Taehyung wasn’t sure if it was because of the alcohol he smelled on Jungkook’s breath, but he was sure he saw Jungkook’s eyes light up when he looked at him through his eyelashes.

“It’s fucking stupid—probably the stupidest thing I’ve ever walked into, but I’ll admit…I do like it.” It’s been so many years since he’s even heard the words ‘happy birthday’. A cake made just for him, a party planned just for him—it all felt nostalgic, and he had to admit it tugged on his heart just a bit.

Yoongi looked between the two—how close they were and their yearning gaze, they’re the only ones who didn’t see it. He felt maybe he was a bit out of place. “Guys, I’m gonna head home.”

“What?” Jungkook gasped softly, peeking at Yoongi over Taehyung’s shoulder. “I thought you were gonna stay to sing happy birthday.”

“I don’t sing. Besides, I’m sure you’d rather have him all to yourself tonight.”

“Oh?” Taehyung cocked an eyebrow.

“Goodbye Yoongi.” Jungkook grumbled, trying to avoid Taehyung’s gaze.

“Mhm.” Yoongi grinned evilly. There was something so satisfying about watching Jungkook get flustered. He ruffled Taehyung’s hair. “Happy birthday, Tae. Remember to open your present.”

“You got me a present?”

“Yeah, it was all Jungkook’s idea.” Yoongi pointed towards the human before leaving. Taehyung felt his lips twitching again as he watched Jungkook light the candles ‘728’ with his lighter. Jungkook leaned closer, lowering his head to get a peek at Taehyung’s face.

“You’re smiling again.” Jungkook giggled, sipping from a large glass of wine.

“No, I’m laughing at you because you look like an idiot. And take the fangs out, I can barely understand you.”

“You know, I knew you’d be a party pooper. Yoongi warned me.” Jungkook finally took out his fake fangs and pushed the cake closer to Taehyung. “Make a wish.”

“Make a wish? Are you actually gonna sing me happy birthday too?”

“Do you want me to?”

“Don’t.” Taehyung glared at him. He stared down at the lit candles, watching the wax slowly melt and drip onto the well-decorated cake.

There wasn’t much he could wish for; most of what he wanted he’s already worked hard for. He knew what he wanted was unattainable. Then again, it was just a silly birthday wish. He blew out the candles and stayed silent while Jungkook waited to hear his wish.

“So?” Jungkook took another sip, or more like a gulp of wine.

“So…?”

“What’d you wish for?”

“Well, aren’t you nosy?” He chuckled. It was ridiculous of him to even make a wish; it’s the same thing he’s been subconsciously wishing for every day of his undead life. “I’m not telling you shit.”

“How am I supposed to get you a gift if you don’t tell me what you want?”

Taehyung glanced at the gift table. “So, all those are from Yoongi. You threw me a party with no gift?”

“I didn’t! I… I already have a gift for you.” Jungkook blushed. “But you’ll have to close your eyes.”

“No.”

“Come on, please. You’ll like it, promise.” Jungkook’s already got rid of his fake fangs, so he couldn’t understand why his words were still slurring.

Taehyung let out a long sigh. He did throw a ‘party’ for him so what’s the harm in playing along? He closed his eyes, expecting to feel the weight of a present in his hands.

He felt Jungkook’s hand on his, leading it down to somewhere soft, somewhere…warm. His thumb slowly caressed it, the smoothness being far too familiar. Jungkook’s skin.

“Feel it?” He whispered.

“Jungkook..” Taehyung peeked through his eyelashes, his gaze drifting down to his hand hidden under Jungkook’s oversized shirt, comfortably placed between his thighs. “What exactly is my gift?”

“Your eyes are open.” Jungkook blushed, covering Taehyung’s eyes with his palm. Alcohol has always given Jungkook a dangerous amount of confidence, but it seemed like the effects weren’t at its peak yet. “You said it’s sweeter down there, and since it’s your birthday, I’ll let you have it.”

“Come here?” Taehyung pulled him closer, guiding him down to his lap. He cupped his face, leaning closer until he felt his breath against his lips. The smell of alcohol was far too strong to miss. “You’re drunk.”

“Tipsy.” Jungkook corrected him.

“You’re drunk.” He deadpanned. “Doesn’t matter, I’m not feeding while you’re like this.”

“Why not?”

“Because..” Taehyung sighed, trying to come up with the best excuse. Jungkook already didn’t sound in his right mind; he wouldn’t have taken that chance with him. “It’ll taste different. I like my blood pure.”

“You’re a picky eater for an old man.” Jungkook lightly shoved him away. He angrily muttered under his breath, disappointed by Taehyung’s rejection.

“Old man?” He scoffed.

“What? You think 728 years is young?” He giggled.

“Why’re you drinking anyway? Didn’t you say you’re a lightweight?” He remembered Jungkook mentioned in one of his many rambles that he can’t hold his alcohol.

Jungkook had fallen into the habit of sharing his thoughts with Taehyung as they lay in bed together. The vampire didn’t mind; Jungkook’s voice soon became a lullaby to him.

“Yeah, that’s why I’m drinking at home. I’m safe with you, aren’t I?” He shrugged.

Taehyung’s face heated up, staring down into his lap. “Yeah. You’re safe with me.”

Alcohol didn’t just help Jungkook with his confidence. It made him surprisingly more talkative than he usually was. He was completely rid of his sober filters, and the most embarrassing thing of them all, it raised his sex drive.

Taehyung didn’t know what to expect from a drunk Jungkook. Maybe he was a completely different person–quiet, calm, maybe a little shy. Those were his guesses.

“You don’t wanna dance with me?” Taehyung stood with his hands in his pockets as a drunk Jungkook with half a bottle of wine in his system danced against him. Maybe Jungkook was just a shameless drunk–a shameless, loud-mouthed, horny drunk.

He’s been like this for the past hour, blasting music from the 1980’s, insisting that it’s ‘Taehyung’s kind of music’, it was a party activity. He would’ve never been satisfied if the party ended with just a boring slice of cake.

“You’re shy all of a sudden? I know how bad you wanna touch me, you think I haven't caught you staring?”

“When have I ever been discreet about wanting to touch you, hm? Has that ever been a secret?” He didn't hesitate, grabbing Jungkook’s hips and pulling him closer.

His thumbs gently pressing into the curve of his waist, his eyes flickering down to the way his body moved against his, the offer was more than tempting. He snaked his arms around him and locked him in his embrace.

Fuck- It’s getting late, let’s head to bed.”

“But your party, we’re supposed to be having fun.”

“Trust me, you’ve provided plenty of entertainment.”

“So, you had fun tonight?” Jungkook glared at him, leaning closer in an attempt to catch him in a lie.

“Sure.”

“Really?” Jungkook’s pupils dilated, and fuck, Taehyung felt his knees go weak. He rested his arms on Taehyung’s shoulder, twirling his hair with his finger. “You really had fun? Was the cake okay? Did you like the decorations? A-and the music? I have another gift for you tomorrow, maybe-”

“Jungkook..”

He wanted to kiss him, every bone in his body wanted to kiss him then and there but was this actually real? Was this just their blood bond speaking—tricking Jungkook into caring for him?

“Taehyung?”

“I don’t think I’ll forget the night my little human threw me a surprise birthday party.”

Jungkook whimpered under his breath. The innocent tone disappeared right before Taehyung’s eyes. “You know I love it when you call me yours—your human.”

Taehyung wasn’t as strong as he seemed. A pretty human like Jungkook trying to seduce him, definitely wasn’t something he’d be able to resist, but fuck, maybe Yoongi was right.

Maybe he did care about Jungkook far too much to even think of taking advantage of his drunken state.

He sighed, lifting Jungkook off his feet. He ignored his whining and complaining as he lugged him over his shoulder. The human’s face turned red, kicking his feet in an attempt to get out of his grasp for just a couple of seconds before finally giving up.

“Done?” Taehyung questioned when he felt Jungkook’s body go limp.

He carried Jungkook to his room, laying him on the right side where he always slept, but the human quickly grabbed his shirt and tugged him down. Taehyung tipped over, almost crashing down on top of his body. He forgot just how strong Jungkook was.

“Jungkook, behave.” Taehyung rolled over to his side of the bed before tucking him in, and just for a second, his heart felt warm. It’s been centuries, He forgot what it felt like to have someone to take care of. He felt needed again. “Go to bed.”

Jungkook’s lips formed a pout, letting out a disappointed sigh when Taehyung turned his back to him. The vampire couldn’t be blamed; he had to show some restraint when Jungkook was trying so hard to get into his pants. He tugged on the back of his shirt, shuffling closer to him.

“Can I tell you a secret?”

“You can tell me tomorrow.”

“No, no, please. It’s important, I promise.”

“Go. I’m listening.” Taehyung muttered. His eyes were closed, already prepared to sleep the very second Jungkook tells him his ‘important’ secret.

He heard the springs in the mattress squeak, and suddenly he felt Jungkook’s lips brush against his ear.

“I like it when you feed from me.” He whispered.

Taehyung’s eyebrows furrowed, his eyes slowly opening. “…What?”

“I like it when you grab me, when your teeth sink in, and I can hear you groaning in my ear. I know it gets you going, too.” Taehyung finally turned around and saw a cheeky grin on Jungkook’s face. The tips of their noses met in the middle, and Taehyung opened his mouth to speak, but all he could do was stare at him, wondering if that was a real drunk confession. “That got your attention, huh?”

“You’re so drunk, you’re not making sense anym-”

“It hurts so good. I look forward to it. Do you think your birthday present was only for your pleasure?” He giggled. “Last time-“ He bit his lip, another giggle slipping out. “Last time, I almost came in my pants, imagine what you’d do to me between my legs.”

“What the fuck?” Taehyung whispered to himself.

He thought it was normal–the small whimpers he heard from Jungkook when he fed, the way he’d grab onto his arm and bite down on his lip. He only thought he was bracing himself for the pain to come, but instead, he was what? Getting off? Or was he just messing with him?

There was no way he was enjoying it.

Or was he?

It would make perfect sense why he was so eager to make sure Taehyung had his daily dose of blood, why he’d always insist he fed more.

Taehyung opened his mouth to speak, and again, nothing came out. What does he say to the one human he knows that gets a thrill out of being bitten?

“Goodnight.” Jungkook muttered sheepishly, like the last thing that came out of his mouth wasn’t absolutely absurd.

He snuggled up to Taehyung, perfectly fitting into his hold as he drifted off to sleep with a blissful smile on his face. He had no clue what he was waking up to the next morning.
