Chapter 1: THE VENDING MACHINE

Chapter Text

The first time Sunghoon noticed Sunoo, he was losing a fight with a vending machine.

Sunoo had both hands braced against the glass, forehead pressed to it like a man praying for divine intervention as he mumbled, "Come on, you bastard..." before kicking the machine with all the force of an irritated kitten. The snack inside didn’t budge.

Sunghoon who had been on his way to class, minding his own business stopped mid-step.

"You know," he said, leaning against the wall, "they arrest people for that."

Sunoo whipped around, eyes wide, cheeks flushed. "It stole my money!"

Sunghoon raised an eyebrow. "So you're committing felony vandalism over a bag of chips?"

Sunoo scowled. "They're limited edition."

And that was the moment Sunghoon’s life derailed.

Because Sunoo wasn’t just cute.

He was ridiculously cute.

The kind of ridiculous that made Sunghoon’s chest do something stupid, like tighten or flutter or whatever cliche his traitorous heart was pulling.

So Sunghoon did the only logical thing: he stepped forward, slammed his palm against the side of the machine, and watched as the bag finally dropped.

Sunoo gasped like he’d just witnessed a miracle.

Sunghoon smirked. "You’re welcome."

Sunoo clutched the bag to his chest, eyes sparkling. "Marry me."

Sunghoon choked.

Sunoo blinked. Then, with absolutely zero shame, he clarified: "Joke. That was a joke."

Sunghoon’s face burned. "Obviously."

Sunoo grinned, tore open the bag, and shoved a chip into his mouth. "You’re blushing."

"I am not."

Sunoo leaned in, close enough that Sunghoon could smell the salt on his lips. "Liar."

And then because the universe hated him Sunoo winked, spun on his heel, and sauntered off like he hadn’t just short-circuited Sunghoon’s entire existence.

Sunghoon stood there, frozen, staring at the empty hallway.

What the f*ck just happened?

He didn’t realize it yet, but that was the day the bet began.

And Sunghoon?

Sunghoon has no idea what's in the store for him
