Work Text:
He died in your arms, telling you not to bring him back.
Maybe he had a point. Maybe it’s not worth living in the apocalypse.
Maybe you made it worse.
…
How could he give up like that? He has a daughter! She needs him! And he’s just going to die? He told Sugarcube he’d be back!
Fucking deadbeat. Giving you all the work and responsibility and only coming back to reap the rewards. He doesn’t deserve to be recovered. He was a terrible father just like he was a terrible husband.
You’re worse.
You killed him. And it wasn’t even instant. He dragged himself a good ten meters before falling. All he ever did to you was cheat.
He still betrayed your trust.
He didn’t deserve to die like that.
You should have been more direct with the rock. Hit him in the head and made it instant. That way he wouldn’t have had the chance to tell you to leave him dead.
You shouldn’t have pushed the rock in the first place. Who does that?? Who kills their survival companion and the father to their child?
You do, apparently.
You’re covered in his blood from holding his body. The untimely winter had long since sapped any hint of warmth from it. You let it go.
At least you won’t have to keep an eye out for crunchies anymore.
You have to get up. You have a daughter to raise. She needs you.
She needs her dad.
