Work Text:
Jemma stared at the two of them, “You two needed to know all of that,” she explained. “You need to know what is happening with the three of us. I am not your HR bitch. I am able to work from anywhere. I can change to the private sector,” she assured them. “I mean, there’s even raising any chil- -” she began as her checks immediately instantly warmed to the extreme.
“I want kids,” Jack exclaimed as Robby stared at him as if he had a second head.
“I….I do too,” she admitted to the two of them, “Family is very important to me, despite mine being so small,” she said.
“Found family can be better than some blood families,” Jack reasoned before bringing her to his lap this time, “I have to sleep baby. Come lay down with me and then you can do as you please?”
She immediately agreed, kissing him before standing and leading the way toward the bedroom one more. Robby eyed the two of them and just shook his head as he ran his hands down his face.
They had found their soulmate and…she’s some kind of superhero person, he reasoned before laughing into his hands. He pulled out his phone, meaning to take a quick moment but then Jemma is sitting back down beside him.
“You haven’t moved in the hour I’ve been gone, Michael,” she giggled as she leaned against him. “What has you so deep in thought?”
“I didn’t know he wanted kids,” he replied quietly and she realized he wasn’t in the mood to tease. She immediately stopped and took his hand in hers.
“Together for years but he’s never mentioned wanting kids. You’re here less than a day and well,” he laughed again, the sound more bitter than humored, as Jemma stood up, looking down at him.
“Michael?” she asked and her use of his name had him looking up and then letting her slide into his lap.
“Any one in a relationship when that person meets their soulmate, the majority of those relationships end,” she started as she ran her fingers through his hair. He closed his eyes and pressed his head into her middle.
“You both have marks where its assumed your third is a woman. Maybe he wanted to wait until your third showed up?” she suggested. He sighed and looked up at the woman in his lap.
“That’s genius,” he agreed but she just smiled.
“The best way to know is if you talked to him, you know?” she reminded him.
Instead of acknowledging her, he lifted and pulled her into the large patio cushion they were relaxing on. She laughed as he wrestled his way on top of her. She smiled and leaned up, pressing her lips along his jaw line.
“I didn’t forget you ignored my suggestion, you jackass,” she whispered saucily against his ear. He had to laugh at that, leaning up to look down at her.
“You’re exactly what we needed Jemma,” he told her as he caressed her cheek. He laid down, pulling her against his front, holding her close.
“Lets nap, too” he suggested and all she could do is laugh.
“Jack is gonna be pissed if he finds us asleep down here,” she yawned a little, “instead of in bed with him.”
“He’ll be fine,” he promised as he kissed below her ear. Jemma sighed and turned over, tucking her head against his chest as she relaxed and eventually fell asleep.
Robby stayed awake and just watched this fascinating woman sleeping against him. He was thoroughly impressed with her and in awe. Jack seemed especially affected by her though and that was leaving Robby feeling on the outside.
