Alpha and Omega

Summary:

Before Omega of The Bad Batch, there was Omega of the Alpha Class.

Notes:

So, funny story: Two months before the first promotional image for The Bad Batch came out, I created a clone character name Omega. She was blonde, she was part of the alpha batch - or the Model As as I'll sometimes call them - and she was, most importantly, phenotypically female. My Omega had Complete Androgyn Insensitivity Syndrome (CAIS), one of the many intersex conditions; this means she had XY chromosomes but physically looked female.

After several years of thought and of creating other clone characters, I’ve updated my Omega’s story. This series is my way of putting all of my clone OCs out into the world for others to enjoy.

If you want more of my thoughts on the vague science of what I’m doing here, then you can read the A/N at the end lol.

Thank you for reading!

Work Text:

Alpha-25 was made different from her brothers. She knew this. Everyone knew this. Nala Se had deemed it important to test every variation possible to ensure optimal units later on. Twenty-Five was just an experiment – one that stood out from the rest of her alpha-model brothers.

She’s different – but she’s one of them. There are, of course, some weird things, like when she hits puberty and finds out about the kriffing bleeding, and the fact that she doesn’t have the same equipment between her legs, and the way her body stores her weight a little differently, and the way she always seems to be drawing different conclusions that her brothers, and…

Alright. Maybe there are a lot of differences. Just… not any that really matter.

In fact, maybe some that are pretty great.

Prime trains the alpha class personally starting early on. It isn’t so bad in the beginning when Twenty-Five is still the same in almost every way visually to her 99 brothers, but as she grows, it starts to get… strange.

Not strange bad. One of the non-Mando trainers sometimes looks at her in a strange-bad way, and this isn’t that. No, it’s almost… strange sad.

As she grows, her hair, already lighter than her brothers’, lightens even more until it’s curly mess of ashy blonde by the time she’s biologically 12. Her eyes, still technically brown, take on the faintest olive-green hue, muddying the color slightly. Instead of building muscle first, her body gives her extra layers of fat around her vital organs and her chest and her thighs, and by the time she’s biologically 14, Prime looks at her like he’s seeing a ghost.

(She makes her younger brother Crypto hack the holonet and pull up information on Prime’s old life. When the find the ID photos of Arla Fett, she lets him stop digging. She’s a little queasy for the rest of the day, but she starts pretending not to notice when Prime has to look away every time she does something some sort of way.

And she stops saying ‘vod’ as her voice matures, chooses to use Basic around Prime as much as she can. She wasn’t his choice, and she doesn’t fault him his grief.)

It’s Fordo in the end who names her, the asshole. Prime names most of the alpha batch, Fordo one of them, and Fordo never liked that Twenty-Five wasn’t part of the Named. So when they learn about different numeral and lettering systems, he takes great joy in naming her.

If they’re part of the alpha batch, and Seventeen, being the stubborn mir’sheb that he is, is responding to both his number and Alpha, and Alpha sounds a little too much like Arla, then Alpha is out of the question. Beta is second, but Boba is Prime’s, and the two names would be too similar. Omega, though. Omega is last of this particular alphabet, and while Twenty-Five isn’t last of anything, she is treated like the little sister even by alphas decanted after her. And, as Fordo insists, she’s different (in a good way), and she should be recognized for that.

So when Twenty-Five is biologically 13, she becomes Omega.

… Or, well, the first of two.

Notes:

I am, at heart, a science nerd. This means I know that no amount of DNA degradation will result in the kind of mutation that will result in a completely different chromosomal gender. The way it works is this: Jango Fett isn’t fully human. Using a mishmash of the non-Human DNA and – I’m still debating this part, so this isn’t part of my HC for now – his own intersex condition (or maybe he’s trans, like I said, I don’t know, maybe y’all can vote in the comments), Nala Se created a female… clone isn’t the right word, but maybe female variation of Jango Fett. In fact, she does it twice: the first time to test the results and create my Omega, the second time to create canon Omega once she knows it’s successful.

And the way that is going to work is that Canon Omega will be just a little bit younger than Boba Fett – by six months in fact, long enough for my Omega to have aged a little.

Oh yeah. I’ve fucked a little with the aging of some of the clone generations. The alpha batch ages at triple-speed as opposed to double, so for every one year they live, they ‘age’ three years, instead. So when Omega says she’s 15 biologically, she’s only five standard.

Also also, all my ocs in this series will be ones I have or want to RP with, so if you like that, hit me up, maybe we can take turns burying our little clone dolls in the sand lol
