Chapter Text

Drip.

Drip.

Drip.

It was raining extremely hard outside. Liv slowly raises her head up from her black table, that she needs clean soon from.

Liv doesn’t remember passing out at all last night, from being wasted and taking alprazolam all the same time.

Liv knows she’s only sixteen years old, but her addiction started two years ago when she was a freshman. She has no plans coming sober either soon.

Liv look at that time quickly and realized she was going to be late for school.

She needs to get up soon before she’s late. She can’t afford cutting class anymore or missing school. Or her father will get in trouble, and she’ll be taken away from him again.

Liv was raised on and off by her grandparents until her father got out of prison when she was eleven years old. Then after that, he got custody of her again when she was twelve the next year.

Just like she was, her father suffered with an upper problem, and was a drug dealer, and struggled getting clean. Her father once he got custody of her when she was twelve years old, he decided to move her to New York, from Texas.

Since then she live with her father and brother. Her brother right now was 14 years old and in ninth grade. She doesn’t talk to her mother, her mother left her life completely at eight years old, started a new family and new life, and never spoke to her or her father again. They were never married just had her and her little brother young, and didn’t work out.

But one thing Liv knows is she’ll never forgive her mother for never trying for her or contacting her ever again. She hasn’t heard a word from her mother in eight years almost.

“Fuck that bitch.” Is what she always thought.

Once her, little brother, and her father moved to New York, while she start 7th grade, her life been hell since moving out of Texas.

Liv and her little brother were so smart they got in advanced schools in New York, but that wasn’t the part that was hell.

Liv was different.

She was extremely different.

Liv hates talking about that though.

And the bullying, she’s already gotten used to.

Back to the topic though…

Once she was in eighth grade, her father met a woman.

Liv considers her a mother more than her own mother.

He end up marrying her extremely quickly.

They were very alike in ways.

Both serve time in prison, both had shitty partners, both were single parents, and recovering drug addicts.

Her name was Rena, and has two twin daughters that were eighth grade right now.

She absolutely loved Rena and Henry together.

But it started getting bad once they start being on drugs again six months ago.

And not only Liv life was hell at school….

But at home as well with her step mother and father.

Alcohol, drugs, and fighting all day long, and messy house.

Sometimes she’d have to even take care of them, or get involved in their arguments, while her little brother Evan sometimes was part of it too, but mainly stayed in his room on his Xbox.

She’d do anything to keep her little brother safe though.

That’s all that matters to her.

She loves her parents as well, but not like this…..

———————————————————————————
Liv continues to look at the pills on the table, debating on selling them today to get more money, since both her parents weren’t making much right now, and her step-mother was jobless right now.

Liv bites her lips back and forth, debating on it, and not wanting to get caught again at Midtown High school. She got very lucky in not getting sent to Juvenile. But she will if she gets caught again.

Liv takes a slow nervous breath, and then snatches them as hard as she could and shakes her head.

“Fuck it, we need food, can’t be living off just ramen and mashed potatoes” Liv mumbles to herself.

Liv quickly glances one last time at herself in the mirror.

She never goes a day without putting make up, but sadly sometimes she’d have to apply just mascara and lip gloss, when she gets too drunk or barred out.

Liv smacks her lips and nods at herself.

This would have to do.

Liv pulls her hoodie over her head.

Liv before walking to tell her parents that are most likely asleep right now goodbye, went to check on her little brother first before anything.

Sometimes Liv takes him to school, and sometimes he went on the bus.

Liv opens his door, and saw Evan wasn’t there, and his game station was turned completely off.

For the first time Evan wasn’t there.

He probably took the bus or already caught up with his friends.

He was a good kid.

She hopes he never ends up like her, or her father.

Liv sighs deeply, shaking her head.

She couldn’t blame her brother for not wanting to be here.

She didn’t like being here either, and she wasn’t going to go anywhere, until he turns eighteen in four years, and take him with her.

Liv shuts the door quietly as she could, walking down the carpet in the living room.

Beer bottles were scattered everywhere, a pizza box was open, and then she looks up slowly seeing her stepmother was almost onto the floor from the couch she was laying on.

Her body was in a weird composure and then she saw her father snoring loudly on the couch sitting up straight.

She could never understand how people sleep sitting up or lying on their backs. She couldn’t do it.

Liv gives a weak smile, holding her backpack close to her, and then walks to her stepmother first.

She then saw the blanket that was on the ground.

Liv grabs the blanket, and after bending down, she slowly puts it on the both of them.

Liv fix her stepmother to get a bit comfortable, and then presses a small kiss to her cheek. “Have a good day be back home in a little bit” Liv says softly to her step mother. She knew she wasn’t going to wake up, they were both to drugged out in their own world, but she still wanted to talk to them.

She loved them very much.

Liv then walks to her father, and then presses a small kiss to his cheek. “Love you dad, I’ll be home later” Liv says softly to him.

Liv then slowly steps away from her parents and walks to the front door, and looks at them one last time opening the store. She gave them a small soft smile.

Liv then walks out the front door, for school.

One thing she is going to do, is graduate and go to college.

She’ll do anything to get a good job, and get them out of Queens.
