Chapter Text
August 8th, 1978
Barty was rudely awoken by the sound of shouting that morning, it seemed his parents were still on about whatever affair his father had this past month.
He Checked his alarm 5:52. And begrudgingly began getting ready, he could still hear the faint sound of screaming, and a plate crashing into a wall, from down below. He went under his bed to grab an album, and decided on Sabotage Black Sabbath, he had payed a kid in the year bellow to get it for him, if his father had found out he would have lost his head. He put it on his record player watching as the album began to spin, slowly drowning out the screaming.
He slowing began his routine of getting ready, After he had taken a long shower, he began putting on his uniform.
the uniform was disappointing to say the least. It was black dress pants, with black suede shoes, a white button up dress shirt, with a tie, and a blazer. There was also this hideous grey sweater, but the students could usually get away with not wearing it during summer. But unfortunately enough for Barty, it wasn’t winter, so on the grey sweater goes.
the sweater, tie, and blazer were all branded with the school crest. Which wasn’t horrible, but that didn’t stop him from hating it. It wasn’t even like the crest was ugly or anything, he just didn’t like the idea of being a walking billboard for the school. Not like he can walk anywhere, anyways, the school wouldn’t let him.
Barty began checking his bag, just to make sure he had everything packed. Sure Barty acts like he hates the school, and he does but in his mind, anyplace is better than home, and Hogwarts academy is anyplace.
Hogwarts is an elite school, for boys and girls, although they often get separated. It’s a boarding school, set in Ireland. You live there year round, you have the choice of going home or staying for holidays, which Barty often chooses to stay unless forced otherwise by his father. And go back home during the summer.
To get into Hogwarts you either have to be filthy rich, so that you can buy your way in. A legacy, in which multiple of your family members have gone, and been successful there. Or extremely smart, in this case, sometimes Hogwarts does let people who come from the lesser world in.
Barty is all three of these things. 1st, his father’s the goddamn governor for fucks sake of course he’s rich. 2nd, his family’s been going to Hogwarts since it opened, he’s part of what some members of the school call the sacred 28. 3rd, Barty always had an easy A when it comes to grading, he’s been blessed with being naturally smart since grade school.
he’s been going to Hogwarts since he was 11, 16 now, soon he’ll be 17. He’s can’t help but wonder how things will be different this year. Nothing at Hogwarts has ever seemed to stay the same, every year there’s always something new.
This year he has a good guess at what it’ll be, his roommate, Charles. Had gotten taken out of school by his parents after getting a girl pregnant back at home during the summer, he had called Barty telling him about it.
Barty had of course felt kinda bad for the guy, but he could help but feel thankful. He had never been a fan of Charles, he talked too much, and was a huge slut. Also why should Barty feel bad for him, if he wasn’t such an idiot and just wrapped his tool, he wouldn’t have gotten the girl pregnant and could have continued his life at Hogwarts.
unfortunately Barty knew he would be getting a new roommate, Hogwarts constantly has a wait list of students and parents begging to join. So of course Charles spot had been taken the minute he, or his parents gave it up.
Barty had been laying in a star fish position, staring at the ceiling, trying to ignore the fact that at the price of going to school and getting away from his dad, he had to spend an hour in the car with him to get to the train station.
Not to mention the fact that in a few minutes his mother would probably ask that Barty come downstairs and eat breakfast with her and that filthy man.
And it seemed Barty was right, as he turned his head and held back a groan as he heard a soft knock on the door.
”Barty darling, are you awake?” He recognized his mother’s soft voice through the door.
he thought about pretending he was asleep, and ignoring her until she left, so that he could atleast wallow in his self pity a little longer.
and for a second, a split second. He even thought about jumping from his second story balcony, and just killing himself. It would easily do the job, it was straight concrete, it’d might take a few minutes, but it would still work. And the Gods know he would do it if he could, but he can’t. He’s always been a coward.
