Chapter Text
Jeon Jungkook has seen a lot of beautiful things in his life.
He's seen the flowers growing out of the abandoned grass on his way back home from work, he's seen the way the moon's reflection shines over the ruffles of the waves in the han river, he's seen the rays of light escaping in between the large trees and finding their way down— helping the flower to grow. And then the sun obediently goes down, allowing the moon to shine.
But none of it could ever be as beautiful as Taehyung.
God— Taehyung.
From the silver of his hair to the tan of his smooth, untainted skin— his beautiful brown eyes, so wide that Jungkook could see his entire world in them. His lashes, they sit so long and pretty on his lids. Are they soft to touch? Jungkook wonders that all the time. His mouth— so pink and beautiful, always saying something so sweet but so bad for Jungkook. What a beautiful boy, Taehyung.
And during these cold days of late November, Taehyung starts to bloom even more. A lot of prejudice is associated to the season of winter, but Taehyung single handedly disproves all of them. There is nothing gloomy, nothing dull around Taehyung. Even when the sky is bordering a shade of green and grey with the winds so cold that Jungkook's skin arupts with goosebumps, the presence of Taehyung shines like the sun. Taehyung has always adored winters, and he somehow found a way to make jungkook feel the same.
taehyung taehyung taehyung taehyung taehyung taehyung taehyung taehyung tae-
“Oh my god!” Taehyung yelps, eyes wide with the rush of adrenaline when loses his footing on the slippery grass on the banks of the han river, eyebrows scrunched together as he braces himself to fall backwards— that is until Jungkook saves him, of course.
He feels his body against his own— and it's maddening. God, Taehyung is so frail. So much smaller in his hold, such a clumsy boy. How can he ever go out alone like this? They'd eat him alive. He needs Jungkook to protect him, because taehyung is such a frail, frail boy.
“Got you.” Jungkook murmurs against his ear, softly pushing taehyung's back against his chest and taehyung breathes out in relief, bursting into a fit of laughter right after, cheeks red from the rush. What a precious laugh he's got, Jungkook could hear him laugh forever.
“Thank you, gukkie. What would I do without you?” Taehyung coos as he turns around, softly pinching Jungkook's cheeks with the widest smile on his face, and it makes Jungkook crack a smile too.
Nothing. You can do nothing without me. You need me.
“You're too clumsy, hyung. What would have happened if I wasn't here?” He replies with a pout, pulling taehyung closer and taehyung gasps. They're really close.
Nothing could have prepared for the punch in the gut jungkook feels when taehyung smiles awkwardly before bringing his hand to jungkooks chest, subtly pushing him away and then bursting into a fit of coughs right after “yeah yeah” he mumbles as he starts walking ahead.
How fucking dare you.
Push me again. I fucking dare you.
I'll show you— fuck, I'll show you.
But it's okay, you'll be mine soon anyway.

Jungkook steps out of the shower— frantically wiping his body down as he looks for any piece of fabric to get into. Why did Taehyung push him away? He finds a shirt in his closet, burying his face inside the hole and getting his arms stuck— fuck this shit— taehyung shouldn't have— okay. He's wearing the shirt. He stumbles hastily towards the bed as he hops into his sweatpants, getting onto the bed as he grabs his phone.
He curses under his breath as he opens it up— his shower took way too long today. He was trying his best to be clean- it could have been that taehyung pushed him away because he smelled odd? Taehyng has always been sensitive about stuff like that. But that's not the point, he's taken too long and now he needs to check if taehyung is fucking okay.
He opens his instagram, refreshes his account thrice, but the latest upload is still the story of the selfie taehyung took with him with the caption “my go to pal, forever, LOL <3” how adorable.
Just say it hyung. Or don't, I will. I love you too.
He opens twitter next, taehyng's name being first in his search bar as he refreshes his account, hoping for it to be un updated as well, but to his surprise a tweet shows up, staring right back at him in his face.
“I'm so shy. Should I make a move?” he reads out, what the fuck? Sweat trickles down his forehead as he immediately goes through the replies, it's a bunch of people Taehyung is friends with saying ‘yes’.
It's such a hassle to scroll through all of this hyung. Do you really need so many friends? Am I not enough?
He finds a single reply that taehyung has replied to,
“go for it!! Why are you afraid? You're gorgeous!” Yes he is, woman. he doesn't need to fucking hear it from you. But taehyng's reply is what catches his attention,
I don't knowwww…we've been friends for the longest time and I don't want to mess things up :(
Fuck. It's about him, it has to be! Taehyung loves him too, of course he does, jungkook knows that already. He's so adorable, getting all shy. It's best if Jungkook takes the metters in his own hands and gets the job done. And then, he'll finally have what he's been craving for years— taehyung.
He smiles ear to ear as he lays down on the bed, content. Finally his biggest wish is going to come true.
You'll be mine soon hyung.

Jungkook woke up to Taehyung's notification.
‘jungkooookieeeeee, can you come over in the evening? i need to talk to you about something:(‘
Jungkook's grin was so wide that it reached his ears— taehyung confirmed exactly what he'd been thinking about the entire night. He's finally going to confess, and what a relief that information is. Don't get him wrong, he knew Taehyung's feelings, and that he was going to tell him sooner or later. But the confirmation of Taehyung loving him back is a breath of fresh air, it makes things so much easier.
It's seven pm and the sun has begun to set in and Jungkook has bought a red rose, the thorns carefully picked out of its stem. He's dressed in his best casual clothing (a leather jacket and pants over a white vest) and is currently heading towards Taehyung's house.
They haven't spoken at all today after the text message and it's driving Jungkook crazy, Taehyung usually texts him first with silly videos and memes or calls him asking for advice on unimportant topics. But he understands why it's radio silence today, the boy is probably shy.
To be fair, so is Jungkook. They've been friends ever since the first year of their college— they both have jobs now. It's been five years, five whole years since Jungkook has yearned for taehyung every. single. day.
It was hell and heaven all at once, heaven because there's nothing Jungkook would rather do than drown himself in all thoughts taehyung. It's consumed him already— the desire— the want and—
The love of course. He's in love with Taehyung.
Hell— because, well, it's just hard. To crave someone so fucking much every second of the day but you can't do anything about it, it's so hard.
He's seen Taehyung date two, maybe three men so far. All three times he's made sure it ended, for taehyung's own good. All of them are absolute psychos! They don't deserve taehyung.
Everytime he used to see Taehyung with other men— it was like a switch being ticked on in his brain. Stop this stop this stop this stop this it should be me me me me— come on now, he had to cave in! He had to make it stop. And he's made sure he did, all the time.
It'll be different this time though, since Taehyung now likes him and is going to be so happy when Jungkook shows up at his gate today. Jungkook has fully prepared himself for the change, and he's excited. He really is.
He's snapped out of his thoughts when the ringtone of his mobile interrupts them, could it be— yes! Taehyung. He picks it up immediately, sticking the phone to his ear with a smile.
“You coming?” Taehyung asks from the other line, voice followed by noises of crunch and chewing. Jungkook smiles.
“I'm on my way hyung.” Jungkook smiles, taehyung and him lived in the same block— their houses were merely a short 10 minute walking distance, they rented their apartments together after college. They know each other from when Jungkook was eighteen and taehyung nineteen, and have stuck together since,
“be quick, i'm gonna finish this entire family pack of chips by myself and then feel like shit later on, and it's gonna be your fault!” Taehyung whines and Jungkook bites his lips to suppress his endeared smile.
“alright” Jungkook chuckles and he hears Taehyung giggle before the line goes dead. Jungkook clutches the rose harder as he walks faster.
Once at Taehyung's door— he takes a minute to compose himself. A few heavy breaths, his life was going to change forever today. Taehyung will be his. His his his his his—
He stuffs the rose in his pocket before ringing the doorbell.
Taehyung opens the door, a big smile on his face as his blonde hair is a big fluffy mess on his head, he's wearing a large hoodie that drowned him completely, and black shorts that were barely visible. Jungkook feels his heart beat faster as he enters inside the apartment, smiling at the familiar scent that evades his senses.
“Hey.” Jungkook murmurs, taking in the one bedroom apartment that he's been in countless times. The living room was decorated with fake vines, peculiar art works that could be considered borderline ugly according to the younger, but Taehyung has always had a unique eye for things. He could always see the beauty in things that Jungkook failed to do. The only furniture here was a soft brown couch and a coffee table, and a shelf filled with various books.
“Hello there.” Taehyung smiles sweetly before giving Jungkook a hug, body pressed against his, the smell of vanilla and honey taking over Jungkook— but it was quick, Jungkook could barely wrap his hands around the elder as Taehyung pulled away way too quick, holding him by his arm and taking him inside the bedroom.
The bedroom was slightly more taken care of, and it looked like taehyung. The pink walls and the satin white bed sheets— peach coloured comforter, where a laptop lies closed, various posters up on his walls, a dressing table filled with his perfumes and cosmetics jungkook wasn't aware of, his bedside table that had his pills and a bottle of water.
The pills— iron and calcium tablets once a day, and some vitamin supplements Taehyung likes to take. Jungkook even knows the names of his medicine by heart— it's important, isn't it? What if Taehyung needs them someday, Jungkook needs to be aware.
“Why're you all dressed up?” Taehyung chuckles, plopping down on the bed as he grabs his packet of chips, casually stretching as he looks at Jungkook.
Jungkook gulps– he doesn't know why, but he feels an intense feeling of shame cloud over him.
Was Taehyung mocking him? Isn't he supposed to tell him how much he fucking loves him?
“I was out before coming to your place.” Jungkook replies instead, Adam's apple bobbing in his throat and Taehyung raises an eyebrow, patting the seat next to him on the bed and Jungkook slides in.
The material of the jacket suddenly feels too present on his skin. He can feel it touching him— it's driving him crazy every ticking second.
“Really? Where?” Taehyung asks casually, munching on a chip as he turns his laptop open, eyes immersed in it.
What is that supposed to mean? Does Taehyung think Jungkook is lying?
“Doesn't matter. Why'd you call?” Jungkook asks, and his tone must've came out sharper than he intended because it made taehyung turn towards him in slight surprise.
Taehyung pouts, offering the bag of chips to Jungkook, eyes wide and Jungkook feels himself melt. He plops a chip in his mouth, smiling when Taehyung smiles satisfied, shuffling closer to Jungkook as he rests his head on Jungkook's shoulder.
Jungkook gets the scent of Taehyung's hair— vanilla. Jungkook could inhale him forever. He hesitantly wraps his arms around Taehyung's waist and taehyung shuffles closer to him.
Jungkook is afraid taehyung can hear his heartbeat.
“Have you been smoking less?” Taehyung asks softly, and Jungkook playfully rolls his eyes. He smokes sometimes, and it's his habit taehyung dislikes the most and has asked him to quit multiple times. Jungkook would do anything for Taehyung, and he's been trying.
“Yeah.” He replies simply, greedily sniffing taehyung's hair again.
“I wanna tell you something, something I've been thinking about.” Taehyung whispers, voice so soft that Jungkook feels the air getting knocked out of his lungs.
This is it. It's finally happening.
“I think I know what you've been wanting to say.” Jungkook murmurs and taehyung gasps, sitting up straight as he looks at Jungkook with his eyes wide and cheeks flushed pink.
Suddenly the rose in Jungkook's pocket starts feeling more prominent. He can't wait to take it out, tuck it in Taehyung's ear softly— hold him. Kiss him—
“Really?! Have I been so obvious?” Taehyung gasps, excitement evident in his voice and Jungkook could almost die out of adoration.
“I mean, not really but I know you so well, you really thought you could hide it for longer?” Jungkook replies smugly and taehyung groans playfully.
“Oh my god— you tell me what you think I'm gonna talk about first.” Taehyung exclaims excitedly and Jungkook chuckles, shaking his head.
“No, you called me here, you should say it first!” Jungkook replies, he feels his own skin get hot.
“We should say it together.” Taehyung suggests and Jungkook nods.
“Three
Two
One”
“You like—”
“I like Seo joon!”
What the fuck.
