Work Text:
Clark wouldn’t call it an obsession, that would make him nerdy or a weeb. Something dramatic or embarrassing. He just happened to know every detail about Bruce Wayne’s character route despite the man technically being an antagonist.
It wasn’t Clark’s fault that the developers gave Bruce the best dialogue in the game, or an actual good design. Well sure he still liked Lois’s character too—obviously, she was practically perfect, everyone in the fandom admired her, but Bruce felt… real in a way the others didn’t.
Which was probably why Clark fell asleep at his desk at two in the morning, controller still in hand, after replaying one specific Bruce scene “one last time.”
Clark woke to the sound of keyboard clicking and distant chatter. For one second, he thought he’d fallen asleep in the library again until he noticed the unfamiliar but familiar place around him. It was bright, quite crowded, and the sound of phones ringing endlessly filled the air.
The Daily Planet logo stared back at him from a nearby computer screen. Clark sat up reflexively, panicking. Nearly knocking over a cup of coffee, he froze when a blue text suddenly appeared and flickered infront of him.
MAIN STORY START!
Objective: Build Affection with Lois Lane
“..What the?” Clark said weakly, peeking up from his desk. Before he could process a thought, the text disappeared. Clark quickly looked around, only to find a familiar woman standing right in front of him.
“Hey, you’re the new guy, yeah?” Her voice was gentle and soft, talking to him. Clark shook his head, lifting his head to clearly see the person infront of him.
“Lois?” Clark asked without thinking, squinting his eyes
“Oh, so you know me already,” The woman, or known as Lois, replied with a chuckle.
“What— where am I?” He mumbled quietly, looking around. Lois looked utterly confused, she tilted her head to the side and put her hand on her hips.
“You’re at the Daily Planet,” She casually replied,
Was Clark dreaming? But everything around him feels so real. It couldn’t be. Clark? Suddenly teleporting to another dimension? The dimension being the game he just played earlier? Before Clark could speak any further, neat little boxes appeared at the bottom of his vision the second Lois smiled at him.
> Compliment her looks
> Flirt confidently [ Insufficient Flirting Antics ]
> Ask for her number
Clark stared at the little boxes at the corner of his eye, hesitant before choosing the first one, why? Because it was the only logical and respectful. Suddenly, the world had reacted strangely around him afterwards.
Lois acted differently, she pushed her strand of hair behind her ears shyly,
“Why thank you, Clark,” She smiled softly at him. Clark realized where this was heading, he had played this game for months, he knew what was going to happen next.
A soft chime echoed inside Clark’s head.
AFFECTION INCREASED — LOIS +5
Clark nearly fell out of his chair, eyes wide in surprise, oh he disliked how this was going.
“Oh, you okay there, Smallville?” Lois laughed lightly, reaching out to steady the coffee before it tipped over completely,
“You are from Smallville, right? Heard about t it a few times,” she continued,
Smallville. Right. Clark remembered how she called the protagonist that early in the game.
Clark stared at her hand on the desk, then at the floating notification slowly fading from his vision. No, this was really bad.
Because if this were following the game’s actual storyline, then everything from here onward was practically scripted. Lois would offer him a tour around the office, introduce him to Perry White, and somewhere around noon, Clark would meet his rival, Bruce Wayne!
Not that meeting Bruce Wayne was a bad thing, anyway. Judging by the dialogues and everything, Clark realized that he, was the protagonist.
“Clark?”
He blinked, snapping back into reality before realizing Lois was staring at him,
Right, tour scene..
In the game, choosing to follow Lois immediately boosted affection faster. It was optional of course, but Clark wanted to try something new.
Another set of translucent options appeared beside her,
> Go with Lois
> Politely decline and explore on your own
> Stay quiet
Clark immediately chose the first option before the game could decide itself. If he politely declined, he wouldn’t get to meet Bruce because Bruce only appeared if Lois was there. The third of all, staying quiet was the worst of them all. It does nothing.
Lois grinned, “C’mon then, Perry’s been complaining about the new guy all morning.” She said, grabbing Clark by his forearm.
As Clark stood up, the office around him buzzed with movement so natural it made his stomach twist. Reporters rushed past carrying papers, phones rang endlessly, and everything felt real. None of it felt fake. None of it felt like background NPC behavior,
Clark already knew how this scene was supposed to go,
First, Lois would walk beside him through the hall while explaining the importance of networking. Jimmy would appear next having a little chat with Lois and showing a minor introduction. Then Bruce Wayne would suddenly appear in the Daily Planet and interrupt midway through Clark’s conversation with Lois and purposely flirt with Lois in front of him.
The fandom loved this scene because it showed their rivalry, some even made edits about it,
Clark, however, replayed it enough times to know Bruce had exactly seventeen lines of dialogue here. Which meant the next thing he was expecting was—
“Ms. Lane,” A firm voice appeared, eyes on her for a long time before moving to Clark.
“And.. Mr. Kent.” Clark swallowed hard the moment Bruce slowly pronounced his name.
Bruce stood near the staircase in an expensive black suit, one hand tucked casually into his pocket while reporters crowded nearby.
“Mr. Wayne,” Lois greeted easily beside him. “Didn’t think you’d show up.” She let out a quiet laugh,
“I like disappointing people personally,” Bruce jokingly said, Clark wanted to bounce on his feet, the way he was standing and the way he looked in reality felt way better than watching him on screen!
Bruce’s gaze slowly shifted back toward Clark,
“And you’re the new reporter Ms. Lane was talking about.”
“Yes, that’s— me.” Clark stumbled on his words, fiddling with his fingers as a tint of red appeared on his face.
Bruce scoffed, tilted his head slightly. “You look shorter in person.” There it was,
In the game, this was where the player usually picked, the translucent boxes appeared again, giving him another three choices.
> Insult him back
> Defend yourself confidently
> Challenge him
Clark was aware that all three options would lead him to something bad, it was a trap.
Yet, he was too busy losing his mind because Bruce’s voice sounded even hotter in person,
“Oh my god,” Clark blurted softly before he could stop himself.
Because Bruce Wayne was real. Real enough for the light from the cheap lightbulb to pass through him. Bruce, meanwhile, looked caught off guard for the first time in the entire game,
“..Excuse me?” He asked, with an offended tone.
“You’re—” Clark stopped himself from saying any further. Clark’s reaction was none of the options the game had provided, making it malfunction. Clark felt his surroundings change,
“Tsk,” Bruce clicked his tongue, rolling his eyes as he turned to take his leave. It made Clark lose by -5 points.
Clark knew this game let you choose your favourite character. Before starting, players could choose one character to prioritize, someone they could give gifts to, unlock interactions with, slowly build a closer relationship with throughout the story. Most players picked Lois for the bonus romance scenes or Jimmy for some reputation. Clark, had always wanted to pick Bruce, but as expected, the game simply refused.
Clark didn’t care. And despite knowing it was pointless, Clark still tried opening the unavailable tab anyway. So just the scene before Clark meets Bruce again, he farmed gifts and his implied favourite dish for Bruce. Just Bruce.
So when the next scene came, instead of giving all the stuff he bought to Lois, he handed them to Bruce. No matter how hard the system refused, texts saying “You can’t interact with this character!” Popping out constantly or Bruce mockingly replied about Clark’s antics. Clark didn’t care. He kept bringing more and more stuff, until the system finally broke.
A new text appeared infront of Clark’s eyes,
AFFECTION +1
Clark’s eyes lit up, he could see the faint blush on Bruce’s cheek actually appearing, despite his affection bar only going by 1 point, Clark would feed this man until the affection bar was full. Sure it was tiny but it was the FIRST affection increase Bruce had ever given him outside scripted events.
Clark actually saw hope. The game started acting differently, and dialogue options kept glitching when Clark chose to prioritize Bruce over Lois. Bruce had started smiling around him sometimes. Brief enough Clark almost questioned if they happened at all, but real even if it mockery.
Till one time the game decided to punish Clark’s action,
It happened on a rooftop, the sky transformed into a canvas of warm hues, making it a breathtaking view.
The city lights stretched endlessly below them while wind tugged at Bruce’s coat.
Clark thinks that Bruce looked absolutely beautiful, with strands of hair falling on his forehead, and the sunlight hitting Bruce’s face perfectly. It was breathtaking.
And then a notification appeared,
SPECIAL EVENT UNLOCKED
> Confess your feelings.
Clark froze at the text infront of him, his heart started pounding immediately while Bruce impatiently waited for Clark’s next move.
For one hopeful second, Clark thought maybe he had done it. Maybe all those hidden affection points actually mattered and not just decoration props. Maybe the game had finally accepted his choices, Clark was so happy he felt like tears were about to start streaming.
Bruce glanced toward him, “You’ve been quiet,” Clark looked at the option again before carefully selecting it.
Clark swallowed hard, but his eyes were still on Bruce, he fiddled with his fingers before finally opening his mouth to speak. “Bruce… I think I’m in love with you.”
Bruce froze in surprise, Clark kept staring at him with hope in his eyes. Secretly biting down on his lip,
“You can’t be serious,” Bruce’s voice was low but clear, it made Clark’s stomach drop. Bruce stepped back slightly, expression unreadable, “What about Lois? How would she feel about this?” He questioned, brows furrowing as he spoke with a defensive tone.
Clark managed a blink, “What?”
“You’ve spent months chasing her,” Bruce’s voice stayed calm, but something colder settled underneath it. “Everyone knows it.” He added, Clark tried picking at his words, opening his mouth to speak but Bruce wasn’t done.
“And here I thought you only wanted to get close to me because of her,” He admitted, his words hit Clark like falling on dense ice.
“No, I—”
“You’re the hero, remember?” Bruce continued bitterly, “You get the perfect girl, I could’ve gotten my chance with her.”
Clark’s eyes caught the affection bar slowly dropping down, causing him panic,
“Bruce,” Clark tried desperately, stepping forward with his hands motioning, “that’s not true—“
“You should go back to Lois,” Bruce said finally, voice firm. And just like that, everything went blank, as the cutscene ended.
-
Clark woke up to a new scene in his bedroom sweating, he looked around before stumbling over his bed. He quicklygrabbed his phone and turned it on, surprised to see Lois’s contact in his phone despite not asking for her number earlier in the game, but all he had was.. Lois.
So he had no choice, but to contact and meet her.
He ran through the heavy rain while texting Lois, the rain was heavy enough to make the pavement slippery. Suddenly, the moment Clark saw her waiting under the bus and ran to her, he accidentally tripped over the slippery pavement and smashed his face on the ground. The last thing he heard was Lois’s footsteps and her shouting,
“Clark!”
Clark woke slowly this time, sunlight spreading faintly across unfamiliar sheets. For a quick moment, he forgot where he was. He thought that the game was an actual dream just like how he expected. But then the memory hit him all at once, the rooftop, Bruce walking away, the rain, the pavement, and finally waking up here. It was too detailed for someone to remember such dreams.
He looked around and found Bruce sitting right next to him, arms crossed and his eyebrows were furrowed, which made him look like he was genuinely worried about Clark.
Heat rushed to Clark’s face immediately after the second he spotted Bruce. He wanted to blurt out everything he actually meant from last night. The faint sobbing from Clark woke Bruce, eyes flickering open. It caught Bruce completely off guard, because one second ago he was staring at him blankly from the bed, probably caused by the concussion. And the next thing he started streaming tears down his cheeks,
Bruce genuinely did not know what to do.
He’d cried. Actually cried while clinging to Bruce’s shirt like his life depended on it. Clark groaned softly and dragged a hand over his face,
“I’m sorry,” Clark kept saying hoarsely, voice cracking apart between breaths. “Please don’t—” he sobbed,
Don’t what? Bruce wanted to ask.
Clark’s grip on Bruce’s shirt tightened when he glanced at the low affection meter infront of him,
Affection Level : ♡
It broke Clark’s heart deeply, but Bruce didn’t understand why. Was it about last night? It was ridiculous. Bruce looked down at the man clutching his sleeves and felt something uncomfortable twist in his chest, the tears running down his face were painfully genuine, and Bruce found himself reddening at the sight.
He swallowed his spit, slowly bringing his hand to Clark’s curls. The curled man slowly opened his eyes to look at Bruce’s deep greyish-blue eyes, before glancing back at the affection meter, his eyes widened when he realized it went up by one heart.
Affection Level : ♡ ♡
Clark couldn’t tell what he was feeling, sure he was glad but how? Did the system finally change? He took one look at Bruce and noticed his face. His mouth looked like it was trying not to turn upward, and his cheeks were slightly red. Clark’s eyes lit up and he looked at Bruce sheepishly, as if he had an idea to bring the affection meter up.
Bruce was confused, was Clark on his period? A second ago he was crying and now he was giving him a stupid smile. He opened his mouth to speak but was quickly interrupted by Clark’s sudden movement,
Clark knelt infront of Bruce as he spread his legs wide open, causing Bruce to yelp in reflex,
“What the hell are you doing, Kent?” He asked defensively but his face didn’t lie, his face kept reddening, Clark enjoyed the view. Bruce’s hand reflexively tugged at Clark’s hair, pulling him away but Clark’s grip on his thighs had tightened.
“Do you not enjoy this?” He whined, pushing his head closer to Bruce’s crotch. Bruce’s chest tightened, breath hitching in a good way.
“Are you— crazy?”
Clark glanced back at the meter and grinned awkwardly when he noticed it had went up by half. His hands quickly moved to try to unzip Bruce’s pants greedily,
“Hey!” Bruce barked, but his hands kept to himself, Clark slowed down his movements, giving Bruce every second to reject him but Bruce didn’t, he gulped as Clark leaned down even further.
He let out a gasp when he felt Clark’s warm saliva on his half-hardened cock. “fuckk..” He managed to let out as he planted his head on the chair the moment Clark started to suck him off slowly, his tongue moved first at the slit, making Bruce jolt instantly. Then he took it all like a popsicle ice cream.
Lord it was making Bruce dizzy, he felt like he was being hypnotized. Clark went further when he noticed the affection meeting slowly going up, so Bruce was enjoying this, he thought. He wanted Bruce to feel good.
Clark really loved the sight he was seeing, Bruce’s trembling inner thighs, his hand on Clark’s head, urging him to go further but not admitting he wanted this as his other hand moved to cover his mouth full of lewd sounds he was managing.
Bruce couldn’t believe he was getting treated like this. He tried to sit up and pull at Clark’s hair to get him away from his wet cock. Clark only let out a soft moan as he was pulled back, disappointed.
“Clark,” he called, eyes dazed as ever,
Clark still wasn’t satisfied with the affection meter, it went down just after Clark stopped sucking Bruce. He casually brought Bruce’s thighs up, making him squeal.
Now, Bruce’s legs weren’t wide open like before, his back was falling slowly on the chair behind him, Clark was purposely bringing his ass down. He hissed the second Clark spread his cheeks, Bruce grew even more defensive because he couldn’t see Clark below his legs. Now, Clark’s face had become personally close to Bruce’s hole. His breath hitched in response, surprised.
“What are you doing—“ Bruce asked in curiosity before feeling the warmth of Clark’s tongue entering his hole, making him jolt as if an electric shocked his body.
“Fuck!” He let out a sudden cry,
Bruce tried to grip the chair’s armrest for support, but he was getting uncomfortable with the seating. He could hear Clark slurping and tasting the fluid, he pushed himself closer, eager to find Bruce’s spot and make the affection bar explode with love.
When he finally pulled out, a string of saliva between his tongue and Bruce’s pinkish hole appeared. Clark stared at it for a while, admiring the view while ignoring Bruce’s complaints, he moved his fingers to tease at the rim of Bruce’s hole, making him hiss in response.
Clark was enjoying himself, the smell, the pressure— it all felt real. He hoped that Bruce also felt the same way, he raised Bruce’s hips and legs, bringing him closer to Bruce.
“Bruce..” He whined, rubbing his hard cock in between Bruce’s thighs.
“Can I?” He asked, spelling Bruce’s name with his hips. Bruce’s mind was going crazy, he couldn't even process a thought anymore, Clark gently leaned in to sniff at Bruce’s neck, the tip of his red cock made contact with Bruce’s hole. It made his eyes twitch at how the affection bar rises quickly,
“I’ll make you feel good Bruce.. are you still mad from last night?” He asked, his eyes full of anticipation.
Bruce could only manage a simple nod, with that simple nod— Clark’s face beamed with love and instantly pushed in making Bruce choke on his spit,
“Bruce— you’re so.. mngh, warm and tight .. ” Clark whined, he leaned over to kiss Bruce with tears streaming down his face, pushing in deeper. Bruce’s legs tremble as he let out a groan,
“Bruce..” Clark whispered, pulling his cock out and stopping at his tip before suddenly thrusting in, making Bruce’s body jolt in shock,
“Bruce.. Bruce..You’re so close—” Clark repeats, eyes glancing at the affection bar while driving into Bruce with a rhythm. Bruce’s mouth was left open, saliva dripping down.
“Bruce.. so close hngh..” he moaned, sobbing as he pushed the entire length all the way in a split second.
“Uh!” Bruce arched his back, his fists clenching the armrest and his eyes widened trembling. His body felt like electrical waves the moment he felt Clark cock up against his prostate. He came untouched, his affection bar was finally full just like how Clark filled Bruce with his come. The bigger man hugged him tightly and repeatedly kissed on his neck, his cock still deep inside him, making a faint squelch sound when Clark leaned in.
“We could’ve done it on the bed ..” Bruce mumbled quietly, before slowly drifting off to sleep. Clark wanted to continue, but the sight of Bruce so tired and resting made him vulnerable, he buried his face deeper in Bruce’s neck and fell asleep.
-
The morning birds chirped as usual, the sunlight hitting Clark’s face first. He slowly woke up, eyes flickering to clear his sight.
He lazily moved his finger to swipe on the imaginary button, his eyes shot open when he realized no translucent blue boxes were waiting for him patiently at the corner of his vision.
Just the familiar ceiling of his apartment and weak morning sunlight filtering through the curtains. For a few seconds, Clark lay there unmoving, staring blankly upward while his heartbeat slowly settled. He let out a disappointed tired groan while dragging his hands to his face.
“Wet dream,” he mumbled, dropping back to the bed in distraught.
Clark let out one weak laugh, relieved and disappointed. Which was ridiculous, honestly. He was genuinely upset over losing someone who technically never existed, a fictional character.
He sat up slowly again, rubbing his eyes while glancing toward the game controller abandoned near his desk. The screen had gone dark hours ago,
“Man..”
But then a loud rattled through the apartment, it was so loud that Clark almost jumped out of his skin. He stumbled out of bed and quickly navigated his way through
“Did you get in trouble with the gangster or something?” Kara on the other hand, lay lazily on the couch infront of the tv. He rolled his eyes at her and stood infront of the door, hearing a loud bang, he finally yanking the door open.
“Clark Joseph Kent—“
The dark hair, pale skin, and geyish blue eyes, Clark froze in place. Bruce stood there looking annoyed, dark coat thrown over one shoulder while rainwater dripped from his hair.
“Where the hell have you been?” he demanded immediately, “Do you have any idea how long people have been trying to contact you?” His expression sharpened before taking a peek inside,
“Are you cheating on me?” He asked when he saw the blond girl lying on the couch. She choked on her drink while Clark blocked Bruce’s view of her.
Clark was still frozen, his mouth opened and closed, not having an easy time choosing his words. He shook his head,
Because this wasn’t possible, Bruce was standing in front of him exactly the same way he remembered his has the same eyes, the same voice, the same irritated crease between his brows.
“You’re real,” Clark eventually asked,
Bruce raised one of his eyebrows, “Fortunately.” He said, arms crossed.
