Only Dinner

Summary:

When Megumi brings up wanting another baby, Yuji panics over the budget and turns to Nobara for advice on how to block his husband's advances.

Notes:

I have so many ideas for short stories? But they never really amount to anything so I’m trying to give it another go before I take a break. Like always I’ll make sure to proof read anything when I can to go over any possible typos!

Work Text:

The afternoon sun filtered through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the trendy downtown cafe, catching the steam rising from Nobara Kugisaki’s iced latte. It was a rare moment of peace for Yuji Itadori. Between managing a household, juggling schedules, and keeping two chaotic children alive, an afternoon out felt like a luxury he hadn’t experienced in years.

Across from him, Nobara was meticulously swirling her straw, looking every bit the chic, unbothered Tokyo woman she prided herself on being. Yuji, on the other hand, looked like a man who had been through a war. He groaned, burying his face in his hands, his broad shoulders slumping as the weight of his morning conversation with his husband came crashing back down on him.

"He wants a baby, Nobara. Can you actually believe it?"

Nobara paused. Her straw stayed frozen halfway to her mouth. She blinked once, twice, her orange eyes widening in a mix of disbelief and sheer amusement. Slowly, deliberately, she set her drink down with a sharp, echoing clack against the marble tabletop. She leaned forward, resting her chin on her laced fingers, her gaze locking onto him like a hawk targeting its prey.

"Well? Are you gonna give him one?"

"No!" Yuji protested, his face instantly flushing a bright, frantic crimson. He peeked through his fingers, his voice dropping to a harsh, desperate whisper so the neighboring tables wouldn't hear him. "Are you insane? You know we can’t afford to have another right now! With the oldest just starting primary school and the youngest starting daycare, having a third is completely out of the question! Our budget is already stretched so thin I can practically hear it snapping, and Megumi is out here acting like we have unlimited space and a secret vault of cash!"

Nobara rolled her eyes so hard it looked physically painful. She leaned back heavily in her chair, crossing her arms over her chest and scoffing.

"Honestly, I don't know why you put up with him," she said, her voice dripping with that signature, biting disdain she reserved for Megumi Fushiguro. "The guy is a brooding, shadow-summoning menace who clearly has zero concept of how expensive diapers and school uniforms are in this economy. He lives in his own little world. You need to put your foot down, Yuji. Hard."

"Because I love him," Yuji said automatically. The frantic edge in his voice softened instantly, replaced by a helpless, goofy smile that crossed his face whenever he spoke about his husband. "He’s an amazing dad, Nobara. You see how he is with the kids. It’s just... when he looks at me with those dark, serious eyes and says he wants another one, my brain completely short-circuits."

"Yeah, yeah, of course you do. You guys make me absolutely sick," Nobara scoffed, waving a manicured hand in front of her face as if trying to clear away the literal aura of romance radiating off him. "Ugh, spare me the honeymoon eyes, you’ve been married for years. It’s disgusting. Look, love doesn't pay for school tuition or extra daycare fees. If he’s getting these grandiose ideas about expanding the Fushiguro clan, you need to lock him down. Block his advances. Give him the absolute coldest shoulder tonight, or else you're going to end up pregnant again before the month is out. You know how he gets when he wants something."

"I know," Yuji sighed, running a hand through his pink hair, spiking it up in his stress. "He gets this stubborn, quiet look on his face. He doesn't even argue; he just... maneuvers around me until I'm agreeing to whatever he wants. Last week he wanted to buy that ridiculously expensive organic baby food, and I said no. Two days later, a whole crate of it showed up at the door because he looked at me like a kicked puppy."

"It’s his pheromones. It does nothing against others, but for you, just a quick wiff gets your panties in a twist," Nobara declared, pointing her straw at him accusingly. "And you fall for it every damn time because you have the backbone of an éclair. What happened to the guy who used to play with every man he could spot in a five mile radius, huh? Where is that energy when your husband starts eyeing you up like a snack?"

"It’s different when it’s Megumi!" Yuji whined, slumping forward until his forehead hit the cool table. "He’s just so... smooth. And heavy. And he smells like cedar and rain. It’s hard to say no to that! And it's not like he doesn't try to help, he just... his baseline settings are totally warped. He genuinely thought we could just 'make room' in the back bedroom. The back bedroom is currently holding all of our winter clothes, the broken vacuum, and three massive boxes of toys the kids haven't touched since 2024!"

"See? He has zero spatial awareness for a guy who commands a literal pocket dimension," Nobara tapped her fingers aggressively against her cup. "Stay strong, Itadori! Think about the laundry! Think about the lack of sleep! Do you want to go through the newborn phase again? The midnight crying? The spit-up on your favorite hoodies? Think about the transition from daycare to primary school for the second one while you're actively carrying a third! You'll be a walking zombie. You won't even remember your own name, much less have time to sit here and have coffee with me."

Yuji shuddered, the raw trauma of the first two years of parenting flashing before his eyes. The endless cycle of waking up every two hours, the frantic Google searches at three in the morning about weird diaper colors, and the permanent state of exhaustion that coffee couldn't even touch. "No. No, I really don't. I love our kids, but I finally just got my sleep schedule back to normal. I can actually function past 9:00 PM now."

"Exactly," Nobara said, satisfied that her scare tactics were working. "So when you get home, you keep your distance. If he tries to get sweet with you, you tell him 'No, Fushiguro, my ovaries are closed for business.' You are the master of defense. Got it?"

"Right," Yuji said, sitting up straight, his chest puffing out with newfound determination. He nodded fiercely, completely pumped up by her aggressive pep talk. "Block him down. Got it. No weakness. I'm a brick wall."

“There you go! Practice with me,” Nobara edged on, leaning forward with an evil little glint in her eyes. "Come on. Act like I'm Megumi coming home from work, looking all dark and brooding, giving you that stupid look he does. What do you say?"

“Do I really have to repeat everything? People are watching,” Yuji muttered, glancing nervously around the cafe. Not that they were being particularly loud... it was just the cafe they went to didn’t really give you much room to have conversations like this. The tables were tightly packed, and the barista at the counter looked entirely too interested in their dialogue.

Nobara didn’t even bat an eye before she answered, “Of course you do!? Now repeat after me. 'Megumi, the vault is closed. Go back to your shadows.'”

Yuji swallowed hard, clearing his throat. "Megumi... the vault is closed. Go back to your shadows."

"Weak!" Nobara hissed, slapping her hand on the table again. "Say it like you actually mean it! Say it like your financial freedom depends on it, because it does! If you let him hit tonight, you'll be looking at stroller prices by Monday morning. Again! From the top!"

"No more babies, Megumi! The budget is final!" Yuji practically barked, his voice carrying just a little too well across the small room. A couple at the corner table turned to look, and Yuji immediately buried his hot face back in his hands, his ears burning.

"Perfect," Nobara cackled, taking a satisfied sip of her latte. "Keep that exact energy when you walk through the front door."

By the time they parted ways later that afternoon, the sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in deep shades of orange and violet. Yuji was practically marching down the sidewalk toward his suburban home, his hands shoved deep into his pockets, mentally repeating Nobara’s mantras. I am a brick wall. The budget is final. No more babies. He was completely prepared to give Megumi the coldest, most unyielding boundary-setting of his life.

He braced himself as he unlocked the front door, slipping his key into the lock with a sharp, decisive twist. He fully expected to walk into a chaotic war zone. Usually, this time of day involved a crescendo of scattered plastic toys, spilled juice boxes on the hardwood, a television blasting cartoons, and at least one child crying because their sibling breathed on them wrong.

Instead, as the heavy door swung open, the house was profoundly, bafflingly quiet.

Yuji stepped into the entryway, his brow furrowing in immediate suspicion. "Megumi?" he called out softly, slipping off his sneakers and stepping onto the polished floor. There was no answer, only the faint, rhythmic ticking of the wall clock.

The lights in the hallway were completely dimmed, casting long, soft shadows down the corridor. As he walked further into the house, a warm, flickering glow caught his eye, emanating from the dining room. At the same time, his senses were hit with a wave of familiar, intoxicating scents. The rich, savory aroma of a slow-cooked beef stew, the crisp scent of fresh lilies and red roses, and the underlying, clean smell of beeswax candles.

Yuji walked into the dining room and froze, his jaw practically dropping.

The usually cluttered family table had been completely transformed. The colorful plastic placemats were gone, replaced by a pristine white tablecloth. In the center sat a stunning, massive bouquet of fresh flowers, flanked by several burning candles that cast a romantic, dancing light across the room. Two places were set elegantly with their best china, and a bottle of expensive red wine sat chilling in a silver bucket.

"What the..." Yuji whispered, blinking rapidly as if trying to clear a hallucination. He stood there, completely stunned, his mind trying to compute how a house with two chaotic children could suddenly look like a five-star Michelin restaurant.

Before he could even process the scene or think about where his kids were, a cold, solid pair of arms slipped around his waist from behind.

Yuji jumped slightly, a sharp gasp catching in his throat as a familiar, dark-haired head nestled deeply into the crook of his neck. The broad, muscular chest of his husband pressed firmly against his back, anchoring him in place.

"Hey honey, how was your day out?" Megumi’s voice was a low, gravelly purr, vibrating directly against Yuji’s sensitive skin.

Almost instantly, before Yuji could even attempt to channel Nobara's "brick wall" energy, Megumi began pressing soft, lingering kisses up and down the side of his neck. His lips were warm, deliberate, and devastatingly practiced, finding the exact spot right below Yuji's ear that always made his knees go weak.

"G-good... it was good," Yuji stammered.

The carefully constructed defense system he had built up during his chat with Nobara didn't just crack—it completely disintegrated into thin air. His mind turned to pure, unadulterated mush. He felt a small, helpless smile tugging at his lips, his shoulders relaxing as he instinctively tilted his head to the side, giving Megumi better access to his skin.

No, wait, Brick wall! Defend! Lock him down!

Gathering every single ounce of willpower he possessed, Yuji placed his hands firmly over Megumi’s forearms, attempting to pull himself out of the tight embrace. He turned around within Megumi's arms, putting a small amount of space between them, and fixed his husband with what he hoped was a stern, unyielding expression.

"I know what you’re up to, mister," Yuji said, crossing his arms and narrowing his eyes playfully, trying to project absolute authority.

Megumi didn't back down. Instead, a slow, incredibly handsome smirk spread across his face. His dark eyes locked onto Yuji's, glittering with quiet amusement as he took a half-step forward, crowding Yuji right back against the edge of the dining table.

"Yeah?" Megumi murmured, his voice dropping an octave as his hands slid down to settle possessively on Yuji's hips. "Tell me, Yuji. What am I up to?"

"You know what I mean!" Yuji countered, gesturing wildly with one hand toward the dining table behind him. "The dinner? The candles? We talked about all this in the morning, Megumi. No sex. Seriously. Especially without protection. We are not having another baby right now, so you can turn off the charm."

To Yuji’s absolute shock, Megumi didn't look frustrated or defensive. Instead, a low, genuinely amused laugh rumbled through his chest. He shook his head, his gaze softening into something incredibly tender as he looked down at his flushed husband.

"Honey, I’m not trying to fuck you," Megumi said softly, his thumbs soothingly wiping small circles against Yuji's hips. "You’re tired. Today’s been a long day, and honestly, the past few weeks have been exhausting for both of us."

Yuji blinked, totally caught off guard. "Huh?"

"The kids are asleep early tonight. you do so much..  taking care of the kids, cooking dinner, day in and day out... you’ve been working so hard."  Megumi continued, his tone smooth and entirely persuasive. "And this is the first time in months we’re getting some quiet time to ourselves. We’re just gonna have dinner. Just you and me."

Yuji narrowed his eyes, his inner defense attorney screaming that this was entirely too good to be true. He eyed Megumi up and down, looking for any sign of a lie or a hidden agenda. "Dinner with just you?"

"Yeah," Megumi answered honestly, his dark eyes never wavering. "Just you and me."

"And we’re only having dinner?" Yuji countered, raising a skeptical eyebrow, though his heart was already melting at the thought of a quiet, peaceful meal with his favorite person.

"Only dinner," Megumi answered with a lazy, devastating smirk, his grip tightening just a fraction around Yuji's waist, pulling him a little closer into his warmth.

Yuji felt a massive wave of relief wash over him. Wow. That was it? He just had to say no, and Megumi actually listened? Nobara had made it sound like he was going to have to fight for his life to keep his boundaries intact.

"Promise?" Yuji asked, a bright, triumphant smile completely breaking through his stern facade.

"Promise." Megumi agreed easily, leaning down to press a soft, completely innocent kiss to Yuji’s forehead.

Yuji smiled widely. That wasn't so hard at all! See, he knew he could do this. Nobara was completely wrong; he could put his foot down when he wanted to. He was the master of defense, a literal brick wall. Who knew that doing this sooner would have Megumi listening to him so perfectly? He felt incredibly proud of himself as Megumi pulled out a chair for him, serving him a plate of the delicious, hot stew.

...Except, Yuji was completely, utterly, disastrously wrong.

An hour later, the pristine white tablecloth was completely wrinkled, the candles were flickering wildly against the wall, and Yuji wasn't sitting in his chair anymore.

He was pinned face-down against the heavy wooden surface of the dining table, his hips hoisted high as Megumi railed into him from behind with an absolute, merciless ferocity.

"Mphhh—! Megumi!" Yuji tried to scream, but the sound was instantly muffled into a suffocating gasp as Megumi’s large, calloused hand clamped firmly over his mouth, pinning his face down against the cool wood.

The contrast between the cool table and the scorching, overwhelming heat of Megumi’s body pressing down into his back was driving Yuji completely insane. Megumi was driving into him with heavy, deep, unyielding thrusts, each impact sending a violent jolt of pure pleasure straight to Yuji’s core, making his toes curl and his fingers desperately claw at the smooth wood of the table.

"Look at you," Megumi growled in his ear, his voice completely stripped of its earlier gentleness, replaced by a dark, rough, gravelly tone that made Yuji's blood boil with heat. Megumi’s breath was hot and heavy against Yuji's damp neck as he pulled back and drove in again, hitting Yuji's sweet spot with devastating precision. "So loud. You're going to wake the kids up, sweetheart. Keep it down."

Yuji whined loudly against the palm of Megumi's hand, his eyes rolling back as a thick wave of friction tore through him. He tried to turn his head, his wide, tear-filled eyes glaring back at his husband through the dark strands of his hair.

"You—you jerk!" Yuji choked out the moment Megumi loosened his hand by a fraction to press a biting kiss to his shoulder blade. Yuji’s voice trembled violently, a mix of pure, unadulterated pleasure and desperate frustration as he tried desperately not to make too much noise. "You didn't... you didn't promise anything at all! You said only dinner!"

Megumi let out a low, breathless laugh against Yuji's skin, a sound that was pure, wicked triumph. He didn't slow down for a single second; if anything, his pace became faster, harder, his fingers digging deep into Yuji's hips, leaving bruises that would definitely be there tomorrow.

"I promised I wasn't going to try to fuck you before dinner," Megumi taunted, his voice dripping with dirty, arrogant satisfaction as he delivered a particularly heavy thrust that made Yuji's whole body tremble. "Dinner is over, Yuji. And you taste way better than the food."

“Megumi—"

Yuji’s breathless cry was cut short as Megumi’s large hand clamped right back over his mouth, fingers pressing firmly into his cheeks to muffle the sound. Megumi leaned over him fully, his broad, sweating chest pressing flat against Yuji’s trembling back, crushing him into the table.

"I told you, sweetheart, keep it down," Megumi growled directly into his ear, his voice lower and rougher than Yuji had ever heard it, dripping with a dark, heavy possessiveness. He pulled back, pausing for a fraction of a second just to drive back in with a slow, agonizingly deep thrust that hit Yuji’s sweet spot dead-on. "The kids are right down the hall. You wouldn't want them waking up and seeing what a loud, needy mess their dad is, would you?"

Yuji whined loudly against Megumi’s palm, his eyes rolling back as a violent spike of heat shot straight down his spine. His hips twitched instinctively, begging for more, completely betraying the weak glare he tried to throw over his shoulder.

Megumi let out a low, breathless chuckle, the vibration rumbled straight through Yuji’s back. He shifted his hand from Yuji’s mouth, gripping him by his pink hair just firmly enough to pull his head back, forcing Yuji to look at him. Megumi’s dark eyes were completely black with desire, hooding heavily as he watched Yuji unravel.

"Look at you," Megumi whispered, his breath hot and ragged against Yuji's flushed cheek. "You were talking so big before dinner. Telling me what we are and aren't gonna do. But look how wet you are for me. Look how tight you’re clamping down on me right now. You want this just as bad as I do."

Shut... up," Yuji gasped, his voice trembling violently as his hands clawed at the tablecloth. "you're a liar. You played dirty."

"I did," Megumi murmured, entirely unbothered, a wicked, lazy smirk pulling at his lips before he suddenly accelerated the pace. He began delivering fast, hard, bruising thrusts, his cock expanding slightly. Everytime Yuji jostled or pulled away or eased back because it was too rough, too much. Megumi would slam him back down on his cock and beg him to take it. "And you fell for it perfectly. You always do. Because you know you belong to me, Yuji. Every single part of you."

Yuji let out a broken sob, his resolve completely shattered as Megumi’s pace became downright punishing. The friction was unbearable, overwhelming, pushing him right to the absolute edge. He arched his back, his hips blindly meeting every heavy hit, his muffled cries leaking out into the quiet room.

Megumi’s hands slid down from his hair to wrap around Yuji’s chest, pulling him up slightly so he could bite fiercely at the junction where Yuji's neck met his shoulder, marking him deeply.

"Tell me what you want, Yuji," Megumi demanded, his voice thick and demanding against his skin, his pace never slackening for a second. "Say it. Tell me you want me to fill you up."

“Come on yuji say it, don’t make me wait.”

Yuji couldn't. Every heavy, bruising thrust was hitting so deep it made Yuji’s vision blur, his mind completely whittled down to raw sensation. Megumi’s breathing was a ragged, guttural chain of groans in his ear, his chest heaving against Yuji’s back as his pace turned frantic, losing all of his usual stoic restraint.

"Megumi—I'm... I'm gonna—" Yuji choked out, his head thrashing to the side as his own release threatened to break.

"Together," Megumi growled, the word ripped straight from his throat. His hands dug into Yuji’s hips with a brutal, bruising finality, locking their lower bodies together completely.

With one last, incredibly deep, punishing slam, Megumi bottomed out hard, his body seizing violently as he hit his limit. A low, gravelly shout echoed quietly against the walls as Megumi uncovered Yuji's mouth, his fingers tangling into Yuji's pink hair to pull his head back as he came.

Inside him, Yuji felt it. It was hot and thick and so hard to miss as it filled him. It flooded him entirely, a heavy, deep pulse that coated his inner walls, completely to the brim. Yuji’s own release tore through him instantly, his body spasming in sync with his husband's, his back arching so hard it looked painful.

As the initial wave of blinding pleasure began to recede, leaving him trembling and breathless, a sudden, cold realization pierced through the post-nut fog.

The heat filling him was direct. There was no latex barrier. No protection.

Yuji’s eyes nearly rolled back into his head, a mix of sheer exhaustion and sudden, comedic dread washing over him. He slumped forward onto the wood, a pathetic, muffled groan leaving his lips.

Oh For fuck's sake.
