Chapter Text
Aizawa has seen a lot of horrific things in his time as a detective. Human trafficking, drug overdose, gang violence, and many other unsavory activities he’s been forced to witness from society. Usually he can let a bad case roll off his shoulders with a quiet night cuddling his cats and a glass of wine, but some cases have stuck with him. Cases like the one that lay within the five year old file that Tsucouchi just interrupted his afternoon of paperwork by placing on his desk. The look in his partner’s eye doesn’t give anything away, but the fact that it’s this particular file is foreboding enough.
Aizawa glares at his partner’s back as Tsucouchi makes his way to his own desk and plops himself down in his office chair. He doesn’t read anything else in the man’s demeanor and the beta is used to his death glares by now, so he turns back to the familiar file that was just dropped on his desk.
Aizawa gives himself a moment to steel his nerves and opens the file. The first thing that catches his eye is a picture of one Midoriya Izuku in his second year of high school. The seventeen year old, omega boy had been kidnapped, in broad daylight, three blocks from his mother’s apartment building. There were no witnesses and the boyfriend, Bakugo Katsuki, whom he was walking home with, had been bludgeoned from behind and knocked out before he saw anything. Many sleepless nights and devastating conversations with the boy’s mother had gotten him nowhere, and the trail went cold a little over a week into the search for the boy. Aizawa refused to close the case, but a month later the department forced him to put it down and work on something else. The file would always make its way back onto his desk for the case’s anniversary, and he would get the occasional call from Inko Midoriya, the boy’s mother, but the trail had gone cold years ago.
Aizawa skims the witness report like he’d done a thousand times before, but now, when he flips over Bakugo’s witness report, instead of the back of the folder, there’s more pictures of the Midoriya boy.
From what he gathers from the new pictures, Midoriya Izuku has been found alive and brought to the hospital. The pictures show a dirty and thin boy, his dark, curly hair greasy and matted, but the worst thing, he thinks, is the look in his eyes. What once were bright green eyes, that always stared up at him from Midoriya’s school picture, are now dull and unfocused, almost crazed, his pupils are small pinpricks as he looks fearfully towards whoever is taking the picture. He has bandages on his face, neck, and wrists, and he would look way too thin if it weren’t for the fact that the boy is around seven months pregnant, according to the report.
Aizawa looks at the next few pictures showing a small area under a trap door, the space couldn’t be more than five feet square. It’s concrete on all sides and there are pictures of blood streaks around the opening of the trapdoor where the boy had torn his fingers bloody trying to get out of the small space. A dirty pile of blankets in one corner make up a sad looking nest and there’s a bucket that the boy must have used for a toilet. The most disturbing thing in the small space is a thick chain hanging from the wall with a heavy, leather collar attached to the end. There’s a large padlock laying on the ground next to the collar, it looks like it had to be cut in order to remove it. The next picture is of a pair of metal wrist cuffs laying on the floor next to the collar alongside a heavy, leather muzzle laying on the ground that looks like the straps had to be cut so they could remove it.
The next pictures must have been taken at the hospital before the doctors bandaged his wounds. Midoriya has wounds and scars on his upper back and shoulder blades that look like he had been scraped across pavement. Pressure sores from the collar, cuffs, and muzzle are bloody and angry around the boy’s neck, wrists, and face. Cigarette and cigar burns litter his skin, half of his fingernails are missing, and a myriad of bruises cover the boy’s almost translucent skin covering an emaciated body. This boy has gone through literal hell.
The next few pictures are just as, if not more, heartbreaking, showing a pup that couldn’t be older than three. She’s thin and dirty, but seems to be unharmed physically. She has curly brown hair and green eyes that match Midoriya’s. The pictures of the pup’s condition tell Aizawa that Midoriya had most likely been starving himself to nurse her.
He growls as he slams the file closed and stalks over to find his partner still sitting pitifully at his desk. Aizawa drops the file down onto the foe-wood surface of the desk with a light smack, making the other man jump. “There’d better be a very good explanation for why you dropped this file on my desk and walked away without explanation.”
“I wasn’t sure what your reaction would be, so I let you have the time to process the information on your own,” Tsucouchi’s hands go up in a placating gesture, “I know how much this case means to you and I wanted you to have all the information before we go and talk to the boy.”
Aizawa takes a breath and forces himself to relax his clenched fists, “at least tell me they caught the bastard who did that?” He gestures to the file.
“Yes,” Tsucouchi leans back in his chair and swivels to face the dark haired man, “there’s enough evidence in those pictures along with the millions of dollars worth of illegal hormone drugs we found in his house to put him away for a few life sentences.”
“Good,” Aizawa leans his hip against his partner’s desk, crossing his arms, “have you called his mother yet? What about Bakugo?”
“I haven’t contacted anyone yet, I wanted to talk to him first, confirm he is actually Midoriya Izuku and see what his mental state is like before we bombard him with more people.”
“Understandable,” Aizawa concedes, “we’ll head there now. I want to see him for myself.”

Tsucouchi pulls out his badge to show the receptionist at the hospital and an older nurse smiles up at him from her seat behind the desk, “what can I do for you gentlemen?”
“I’m detective Tsucouchi, this is my partner detective Aizawa. We’re the head officers on Mydoriya Izuku’s missing person’s case. We got word that he was admitted last night.”
When Tsucouchi mentions Midoriya, the nurse smiles sadly at the two and gets up from her chair. “Just follow me gentlemen.” She leads them through a quiet corridor and stops outside a private hospital room where the door stands ajar. “He’s right through here,” she says in a quiet tone, “he hasn’t spoken since he got here a few hours ago, we had to get a sign language interpreter. He’s been answering yes or no questions, but if you need more in-depth answers than that, I can get someone here within the hour, if you two want to wait."
“That won’t be necessary, I'm fluent in sign,” Aizawa recalls the pictures of the muzzle and the sores on the kid’s face, so he understands Midoriya’s mutism, “we just need to confirm his identity and get in touch with his family.”
The nurse nods and gestures inside, “he’s in here, just don’t close the door, the last time we shut it he had a panic attack so bad we needed to sedate him.”
She walks back down the hall to the reception desk and Aizawa steels his nerves before knocking on the open doorframe and taking a few steps into the room. At first glance, there’s no sign of the boy or his pup, but the room smells like there’s someone in there. “Midoriya Izuku?,” he calls into the presumably empty room, “I’m detective Aizawa Shota. My partner and I are the lead detectives on your missing person’s case. Is it alright if we ask you a few questions?”
There’s a quiet shuffling noise as the boy peaks out from around the large armchair in the corner. He looks a lot better than the boy in the pictures he saw, like the doctors were able to get him cleaned up a little, but there’s still a wildness to his eyes, like he’s on the edge of feral. Midoriya’s nostrils flare like he’s trying to catch their scent, and Aizawa can hear a low, warning growl coming from the boy. He doesn’t move any closer, but he does pull up a chair from where it was sitting by the door and takes a seat at a safe distance. “You don’t have to speak, but I do have a few questions to ask you if you’re willing.”
After a few seconds the boy nods and slowly moves a little further from his hiding spot so they can see his hands, his pregnant belly is now on full display for the detectives. Aizawa can hear a soft whine coming from further behind the armchair as the pup calls to her dam, but Midoriya croons quietly towards his pup to calm her. Aizawa gently brings the boy’s attention back to him as he asks, “can you please tell us your name?”
Even with his gentle tone the omega still jumps before turning back to the detectives and finger spelling his name and showing his name sign.
“It’s nice to officially meet you Midoriya,” Aizawa says. He signs along with his words to hopefully make the boy feel more comfortable, “do you mind telling us what you can about what happened to you? You don’t have to if you’re not ready.”
Midoriya’s hands shake slightly as he signs a choppy rendition of the day he was kidnapped and a general description of what happened to him while he was held captive. Once Bakugo was knocked out Midoriya tried to protect his boyfriend, not knowing he was the kidnapper’s main target. The two men had grabbed him and shot something into his neck that made him black out.
When he woke up he was in the space under the trapdoor chained to the wall by his neck and wrists. The alpha gave him hormone drugs that triggered his heat and came into the space to force him to breed then leave him tied up in the dark. It got to the point he craved the visits since they were the only time he got any release from the constant arousal and heat pain and got to see more than the darkness. When he got pregnant the alpha stopped drugging him, unchained him from the wall, and fed him. If he lost the pup, the cycle started all over again.
He had two miscarriages before he got pregnant with his little girl. She’s four, but the lack of food and proper space to move around stunted her growth so she looked a lot younger. The pup whined again and Midoriya gestured to the frail little girl who scurried over and cuddled up to her dam’s side for comfort. The pup started to purr as she snuggled into her dam’s warmth and Midoriya continued his statement.
He birthed his pup alone in the dark, but she came out screaming and was healthy as she could be with the circumstances. He was terrified his pup would be taken from him, but when the alpha opened the door he took one look at the pup and left after he threw in food. The alpha didn’t try to breed him for a while, long enough for his pup to start sitting up on her own. When the alpha started coming down for him again, he threatened harm to his pup if he didn’t comply. The alpha would chain him to the wall, do what he wanted to the omega, and release him before he left, closing them in darkness again. His current pregnancy was conceived during a natural heat after his pup was born.
Aizawa listenes to Midoriya’s story as the boy sits and cuddles his pup close to his side, his hands shaking slightly with the memories. “Thank you for telling us. The man that took you is going to prison and he will never be getting out. You’re safe now, ok?”
Tears start to glass over in the boy’s eyes as he signs his gratitude and appreciation for them not giving up on him after so many years.
“I have your mother’s contact information if you want me to call her and let her know you’re safe?” Aizawa says, “I know she’s missed you and would be over the moon to know you’re alive and safe.”
The boy nods with a small smile and wraps his arms around his pup.
When Inko Midoriya walks through the door of her son’s hospital room she bursts into tears. Watching the reunion of mother and son is fulfilling in a way that Aizawa hasn’t felt in a long while. Midoriya Izuku might have gone through hell, but he’s going to get better with time and a lot of therapy.
